This place has gone downhill. I haven't been here for awhile & was craving my breakfast sandwich & my sister was craving her eggs Benedict to find out that they took out the sandwich out of the menu & they only serve the Benedict on weekends!! WTH!!! So we end up ordering a pesto chicken sandwich & waygu burger. The waygu burger used to have bacon included but not included anymore & prices have increased. And to make things worse today the food was very salty I didn't even eat finish my food. I'm sad that they did not improve this place or at least keep it up. They are still serving water in paper cups & place doesn't appear very clean.
We were on the hunt for a good brunch spot in Chino and came across this place on Easter Sunday! So glad we did! It looks like they also offer hot pot for dinner, which we're definitely curious to try next time. We started with hot lattes, and they were delicious. The ube latte and the "Shrek" (matcha) latte had the perfect level of sweetness, not too overpowering, just right, and sooo good. For food, we ordered the ube French toast and the fried chicken with a croffle. The croffle alone is worth coming back for--wow. It's this amazing blend between a waffle and a croissant, super crispy on the outside and full of flavor. Honestly, I'd come back just for that. I'm biased as a croissant and waffle lover!! Everything was satisfying and the service was great!Definitely a spot we'll be returning to!
The girlies and I came to brunch and catch up at Wara. We were informed by one of the staff that our 90mins starts as soon as we are seated and would be best to wait for our whole party. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel with chive cream cheese. All our plates came with a side salad and fingerling potatoes. My plate was so filling! I love that they weren't shy with the cream cheese or the salmon. The fingerling potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the salad added the perfect, light touch. The gals also loved their dishes. The only thing is we wished we tried their coffee!
I did not expect much from a brunch spot because the brunch food all tastes similar, but I was wrong. Each dish we ordered was definitely above average. Wagyu burger: 9/10. Juicy and perfectly cooked patty Chicken burrito: 9/10 Chicken croffle: 10/10 I've never tasted chicken this tender and juicy. It went perfectly with their chili oil + maple syrup combo. Ambience is casual, the service is the not fastest but they were friendly
Tucked in a little nook of Chino Hills, behind the old Harkins theater, is Wara Cafe. Good things come to those who wait, because wait you will here at Wara Cafe. Staff and service is laid back, some may say slow. You'll have to check in via Yelp on their iPad and wait to be seen by an actual human. You'll have to wait to be seated. You'll have to wait for your server. And you'll have to wait much longer for food. But the food is good quality and delicious. We ordered an ube french toast and fried chicken sandwich. I was initially disappointed because I wanted steak chilaquiles, but they had run out. But it was just as well since it would've been too much food for two if we had ordered 3 entrees. And we probably also would've had to wait more. The ube french toast was decadent yet manageable. It was not overwhelming sweet. It paired well with fresh fruit. The fried chicken was succulent and juicy. The brioche was fluffy and delicious. The potatoes were a good complement. We demolished our plates and were content. If we aren't in a rush and can enjoy a slow morning, it's worth coming back.
Love this place! It is on the pricier side but the food/drinks/vibes are great for brunch. My friend introduced me the first time, and it was so good I brought a group of six friends the next time I came. I had the same order both times: smoked salmon bagel and blueberry matcha. Both of those are absolutely delicious. I'm always on the lookout for blueberry matcha, as not many places have it. My friend group also shared a matcha flight to try each flavor, and I didn't like the other ones as much as blueberry. The patio is really pleasant to sit out, and they can accommodate larger groups. The first time I went, service was pretty good, but the second time, even though it wasn't busy, our server seemed a bit absent-minded and rushed. She forgot to take cancelled orders off of our check despite them not making the order. I had already paid, and they were trying to figure out how to refund it, but my friend just paid and had them make the drink instead to save the hassle. Regardless, I enjoyed both my experiences here and highly recommend!
My girlfriends and I came after a hike for brunch on a Sunday morning. This was my second time here. There's always a wait, thankful for Yelp Waitlist. We were seated after 20 minute wait. This is a cute place with seating both indoor and outdoors. It is in a plaza with ample parking. It is a hot pot place in the evening. The food was good but did take a while to come out. We all enjoyed our dishes. My friend especially love her candied bacon. I am a Benedict lover, so of course, I devoured my Smoked Salmon Benedict. It was tasty and well-flavored. I definitely recommend this place.
Went here with my friend for brunch on a late Sunday afternoon. Wara Cafe is located in the center of the plaza and have a cute outdoor patio area if you want to be outside or indoor area. Plenty of parking spaces available and the plaza is located right behind the Kaiser Medical Center offices. It seems like during the day, it is a brunch restaurant, and for night, it is a shabu hot pot restaurant. We came around 11:15am and didn't have to wait long before getting a seat. They had a decent, diverse menu filled with brunch items with a diverse drink menu. We got: - Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict- definitely taste the smokiness of the salmon and it was a delicious yummy plate if you like eggs benedict. - Fried Chicken Croffle- if you like fried chicken and waffles, definitely try it. - Ube French Toast- highly recommend if you enjoy a sweet dessert to share with a friend. - Dirty Ube Latte - perfect blend of the espresso in the ube latte- not too sweet. - Salted Caramel latte- that one was more coffeeish. Food did took a while to come out, and surprisingly our drinks came out last. But it is a great place to hang out with friends and chat. Overall, definitely will come back again!
The food here was exceptional, the steak was perfectly seasoned, it's so hard to find a good steak nowadays this one was chef kiss! Customer service is okay, I think it's a hit or miss, there are some employees who seem happy to be there, others not so much haha. I don't like matcha but in all honesty this one was pretty good, definitely recommend! We went with the recommendation to try the chicken waffle I wasn't impressed. Environment is welcoming, there's plenty of space but it does get busy, just a fyi come prepared!
Very nice place for brunch and keeps you feeling full after. The waitress was nice and got us our waters pretty quickly and checked up every now and then to make sure we had everything we needed. The food came out quickly as well. It was a bit hard to choose off the menu though since everything sounded great, especially the many drink options. Fried Chicken Croffle - Couldn't help myself to the classics. It also comes with a side of fries and a salad. The chicken and croffles were so crispy. Their portion sizes are pretty good too, so it was big enough for my friend and I to split our dishes and share. The Shrek - This is a matcha latte with brown sugar and cinnamon and has now ruined all other matcha drinks for me because it was so good. It's not as sweet as it sounds, but it does give you that sugar kick you need to start your day. Highly recommend. We ordered it because it sounded funny but it was probably our favorite matcha latte out of everyone we've tried.
I have have called 3 times to see if they have steak available and they are out everytime I have called around 12pm. So I had to postpone coming on my only day off with my spouse 3 times. So the 4th time was the charm. Woke up early and drove 35 mins to come here. Waited an hour to be seated another 20mins to be served steak that seems to have cartilage. Spent like 27 bucks on this not worth. Long waits, they always say multiple menu items are out stock on Sundays. The staff is amazing and doing there best! The owner needs to find solutions to this.
Visiting from Texas and ran across this great location to meet my friends. "Wara Cafe" is tucked away in a courtyard with other restaurants and medical offices. They offer a nice selection of meals and chef specials. They were able to accommodate six of us easily. Service was great. Our server, Crystal was amazing. She was on top of it from start to finish. She handled all our little particulars and kept us refilled. Make she to check out the chef specials. They were great. Take a moment to stop by and taste their goodness. Michael C. - Georgetown, Tx.

10/10 food and 10/10 service as well as perfect coffee Came to try this spot out nearby while out on business and it was definitely worth it. A little bit of a wait to get in since it closes at 2, but I can see the hype now! Will have to come back for another brunch. read more

BRUNCH Brunch by day, hot pot by night. Usually places who do 2 very different things end up lacking in 1 or both. Unfortunately, this was most certainly the case here and I should've listened to my intuition rather than some of the very positive reviews. (Hate when I tell myself "I told you so!") Churro French toast ($16) - melted whipped cream on top, dry plain cinnamon toast, and over-fried churro pieces. I only ordered this because they were out of their croffles on Monday at 10am. Jeez louise, even I make better French toast than this. The thin toast needed to be soaked longer in the egg mixture--it literally tasted like toast with cinnamon sprinkled on top--soaking for that bread should only take like 20 seconds, so they must've either only dipped for a second, or omitted the egg in their mix. Whipped cream was plentiful on top, but it didn't make up for the dry toast. If the whipped cream is going to be served melted, it should at least have had something infused into it--perhaps vanilla or condensed milk. To top it off, our sweet-loving kids wouldn't even eat the churros, which is saying something. Candied bacon ($5) was the thin skinny kind. Candied bacon should be thick cut and rendered so as to not be limp when picked up. Did appreciate that there was a bit of pepper, and not just sugar. My sisters got savory dishes--brunch sandwich, and avocado toast. Neither finished their dishes nor because of the portion size but lack of flavor. Their dishes aesthetically looked better due to the colors (they included mixed greens salad and some garnish), but my non-cooking self could also make better avo toast. Definitely a small bare-bones hot pot spot, with young friendly service. The server even cleaned the high chair for my nephew without prompt, which was appreciated. Brunch items are overpriced for the quality, so definitely pass! read more

You guys know when you're so obsessed with a spot, you're already FIENDING to come back immediately?? That's Wara Cafe for me, they're usually a shabu restaurant, but it transforms into a brunch cafe during the daytime. Bring the girlies, and the brunch boys too, none of their dishes miss. They only use wagyu patties in their burgers, and that spicy chili honey on the chicken croffles is to die for. And for my sweet lovers, you HAVE to try the ube French toast. And, oh my gosh, their Shrek latte with cinnamon and brown sugar, I think I have to come back AGAIN just for that but I'm not mad about it. Thanks for reading! ^-^ read more
Been coming here for nearly 2 years and finally got around to this, sadly. Jessica is fantastic. Easily one of the best hostess a person can have. Warm, sociable, and to the point. She's also supremely accommodating in addressing questions about the menu and finding better seating for extra people added to my party last min when it was already packed. The wait time is consistently what you'd expect from a small venue that draws families. If group is larger than 2 wait time is longer. Employees consistently try to accommodate though. The place feels a bit hipster and can accommodate up to 4 people fairly easily. The food is amazing. I enjoy the breakfast burger and breakfast burrito. French toast is deliciously fluffy too. The Spanish and matcha latte taste great. Angela is also very kind and helped us figure out what food to recommend for my vegan company in a very gracious way. They hire a fantastic staff and food to match. read more

We had high hopes for this place but unfortunately it didn't quite meet our expectations. Due to the glowing reviews, I'm sad to report that our experience cannot contribute to that. Joined the waitlist about a mile away, waited about 30 mins to get seated. Menu looked promising but when our food arrived, 4/5 of the dishes were just okay. Per usual, avocado toast is overpriced. It's always more fun ordering this dish but with quick realization that home made is cheaper and some times tastes better. Breakfast burrito stated it would come with potatoes, we thought on the side. No, it's located inside the burrito. So, don't ask for where the side of potatoes are. Lol. I enjoyed the smoked salmon bagel but I don't have anything to compare it to because that was my first time ordering that. The most expensive thing on the menu is their Wagyu burger. This was ordered medium and while one half was cooked medium, the other half was RARE AND UNCOOKED!!! How does that even happen?! Is the grill uneven? Anyway, the burger was taken back and then brought back to the table, literally the EXACT SAME HALF. We thought they would right their wrong and bring back a redo burger but no, it was literally just the half that was uncooked, minus the salad, and half the potatoes. It was very skimpy looking and sad. It just threw off the meal and made us a bit confused. I guess the place turns into a shabu shabu restaurant in the evening. The middle seating area is not utilized for breakfast/brunch time. The servers all wore really cool aprons as if they were chefs. Kinda weird to have the servers wearing such fancy aprons when they're literally just seating you, taking orders, and dropping off orders to the tables. Wouldn't return here, unfortunately. read more

At Wara Cafe we started off with their matcha flight. They hit you with that strawberry, blueberry, mango and ube flavor. A new must try item on their menu is the cinnamon roll French toast. It's not too sweet and a very generous portion. Their salted caramel latte is definitely best served hot. Black angus prime steak, eggs, chimichurri sauce, on sourdough toast was a winner to me. The iced ube latte was so good, the flavor is very prominent. The baristas in the back are definitely making magic, especially with this iced vanilla latte. Don't miss their weekend special of steak cream pasta. It goes perfect with their garlic bread and salad. Now the main event is a fried chicken croffle. They serve it alongside this chili crunch maple syrup. Service was exceptional, plenty of seating, and free parking. read more

We were here for brunch on Easter Sunday with 3 other families. This location also housed Shabu Wara in the evening. We tried the Shabu Wara in the evening years ago when they first opened. The reason for the one star is because the expected wait time for the brunch was about 30 minutes originally, but then it turned into 1 1/2 hours. We couldn't wait and left. The place is very small. We saw couple of big parties......... Make sure to reserve your table via Yelp and you must be within a mile away. We will come back again in the near future as the photos of the food looks so delicious! read more

Wara Cafe, which also houses Shabu Wara in the evening, was a pleasant surprise. Regarding ambiance, it seems a bit odd to be eating breakfast in a business designed for Shabu, but that can be overcome by the great service and food quality. Regarding the food, we shared a "Classic Breakfast" for $15.95. The eggs were buttery, the garlic herb potatoes were perfectly cook, and the bacon was candied. It was a really good breakfast. Wara Cafe does not have decaf coffee. Regarding the service, it was fantastic. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The menu prices are reasonable compared to other places in the area, especially if you share a meal. Only constructive criticism is to find a way to conceal extra supplies and boxes stored within the customers' view. read more
Yall know what time it is, brunch o'clock! We went on a mini adventure out to Chino for a lil brunch date and we were pleased with our experience! This establishment is a cute brunch spot by day and a shabu place by night and we ain't mad at it! The food was delicious, from the plating, to the flavors, to the textures, it hit the spot. I really enjoyed the fried chicken eggs Benny, nice crispy texture paired with the hearty gravy on top of a yummy croffle, so good! My bf enjoyed the steak cooked to perfection and the creamy pasta! We were a bit sad they didn't have mimosas this time because what is brunch without mimosas?! Nonetheless, the service was nice, it was easy to get to, and the food was tasty; if we are ever in the area we will be back to try their other items and hopefully get to try the specialty mimosa: the fairy potion! The location is a bit tricky. At night time, it's a hotpot restaurant called Wara. During daytime, it runs as Wara Cafe. It's right in the middle of the medical plaza. They offer inside or outside seating. The menu has a good variety of food like most brunch places. We got an avocado toast and classic omelet. The avocado toast tasted great in both flavor and texture. The omelet was perfect set up with baked purple and yellow potatoes and fresh greens. I enjoyed it. They also offer a good selection of coffee and espressos. Both coffee and cortado were blended perfectly. The service was very good. Both waiter and waitress were very attentive and accommodating. I really appreciated their service. Overall, it was a great enjoyment. I give it a 4.8 out of 5. Will come again! read more

Great food and service! The Breakfast burrito and Smoke Salmon Egg Benedict -- 8/10 - Nothing wrong with them, they were just standard so the price hurt a little lol ($17-$18 each). The ube french toast -- 10/10! - soooo yummy. Would def get this again and I recommend! I'd recc getting their specialties unlike me, prolly worth ur money more lol. Next time I come I'll try the wagyu burger or chicken and waffles ! :) read more
The food here is so good! I ordered the Eggs Benedict which comes with potatoes and a salad. I also tried the Ube Latte (Hot) which was so delicious a must try. I will definitely trying more of their drinks here next time! One plate of food is also super filling and delicious. The wait was pretty long, but it was worth it! I think that the service can be improved a bit because it was a little slow, but there were a lot of people so it was understandable. The ambience is pretty nice as well, they have shabu shabu at night and the cafe in the morning. read more

The lattes are delicious, I had gotten the shrek latte with an espresso shot. The service was quick and friendly! And we sat outside with my dog, it was perfect on a cool day. First timer, but definitely not my last. A Must-Try Brunch Spot! I recently visited Wara Cafe on Sunday March 2,25, and it was an absolute delight! The fried chicken sandwich was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside--every bite was packed with flavor. The chilaquiles had the perfect kick, bold and satisfying without being overwhelming. Beyond the amazing food, the customer service was top-notch. The staff was warm, attentive, and made the experience even better. The cozy ambiance and welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect spot to enjoy a great meal. If you're looking for a new brunch go-to, Wara Cafe is definitely worth a visit. I'll be back for sure! read more

We visited Wara Cafe for brunch on Sunday, March 17th. You can join the wait-list via Yelp when you are within 1 mile. We placed our name on the list, which avoided us having to visit the host upon arrival. Our estimated wait was about one hour, and they were almost spot on. The downstairs is very small, and as others have mentioned this is a Shabu restaurant in the evening. I couldn't tell if they were seating upstairs or not (or if the upstairs belonged to an adjoining restaurant. The service was pretty good; however, just a bit disjointed. It took a very long time to get our coffee and lemonade. The food was delicious. I had the chicken croffle, which was a large piece of boneless chicken atop a waffle with a delicious sweet and spicy syrup on the side. It also came with a small side salad and potatoes. My Husband had the breakfast burrito, which he thought was also very tasty. Overall, I give this a solid 4 out of 5 and would likely return again. read more

I saw this restaurant pop up in my feed, and I bookmarked to make sure I tried it. I finally made my way for brunch last week. The inside is spacious. In the evenings, the restaurant doubles as a hotpot restaurant. We were seated upon arrival. Their menu is limited, but they had different tasty options. I had a hot matcha latte with oat milk to drink, and to eat, I had smoked salmon eggs benedict. My friend got an iced matcha latte and a wagyu burger. The matcha latte was good. It was subtly sweet and creamy. The eggs benedict was good. The eggs were a bit runnier than I would have preferred, but it was a solid dish. I loved the crispy potatoes. I also had a bite of the wagyu burger. It was packed with flavor. I really liked the tomato jam. I'm looking forward to returning and trying something new. read more

Wara Cafe is a hidden gem in Chino tucked away in a nearly empty plaza not too far from the always busy Chino Spectrum Marketplace. It's also, by default, a hot pot place called Shabu Wara during the night so don't get too confused if that's what the storefront sign is named as Cafe Wara is definitely worth seeking out if you want a great value breakfast. We got the fried chicken croffle ($15) as well as the smoked salmon benedict ($18). The chicken croffle was surprisingly a hefty portion and we had to end up taking the rest home to finish the next day. Overall, it felt like eating a big piece of popcorn chicken on a bigger than usual croffle that wasn't as harder as the ones you'd find in coffee houses but nonetheless perfect for this type of meal. I also don't want to fancy myself an eggs benedict connoisseur but since that's usually my default breakfast food on the very few occasions we dine out for breakfast, I think I know a good one when I have one and the smoked salmon benedict at Wara Cafe was definitely a great one. I'm not sure if it was the inclusion of dill hollandaise sauce or a greater portion of smoked salmon than I am used to but something definitely worked on that plate. Both my wife and I also had the garlic mashed potatoes as a side and agreed its among one of the better sides you can get for any breakfast entree. The people working here are also really nice and really attentive - they regularly checked up on us. Wara Cafe has an interior is also quite spacious...and although I hope the business doesn't struggle due to location obscurity but it does provide a nice respite and quiet from the busyness of nearby Grand Ave. Go if you can! read more

Initial wait was a little longer than expected...our server explained it was due to a small kitchen and high traffic, thus they have to keep a certain number of tables open to manage efficiently with each table receiving proper attention. Looking for a brunch nearby and bumped into this spot. The place is a bit of a challenge to find as there is no big sign of their name. It's situated within a restaurant called Shabu-Shabu. It seems like they're a brunch restaurant in the morning and a shabu shabu at night. Went in around opening hours and it wasn't busy, we were seated immediately. There's a bar for shabu shabu which was interesting. Got to try the following: 1. Drinks: hojicha latte is perfect in flavor, ube latte reminded me of ube ice cream, so good! I like how they kept the coffee taste a tad stronger than the hazelnut, just very complimentary to each other. 2. Wagyu Burger: love the flavors, has a hint of sweetness to the sauce, got medium rare, great tasting! 3. Fried Chicken Croffle: the chicken is red meat, fair breading but on the salty side. The croffle a hybrid of croissant and waffle was an interesting twist. First time trying maple syrup with chili flakes which tastes really good! Service was really good. Looks like this is shabu at night and they are a cafe during the day. Lots of options on the Breakfast menu. I opted for chicken croffle which is a croissant waffle. Chicken is dark meat so it's super juicy and batter is crispy. Croffle is a cross between a croissant and a waffle so it's fluffy, flaky and sweet so it doesn't really need syrup. It comes with a chili syrup which was good..sweet and not spicy. Lattes were good but took forever to come out. Good came before the drinks and I hate that! Drinks should always come out first! Overall presentation of food was great, food was delicious and I would be back to try the other items. read more

Omg they have no business making fried chicken this AMAZING. Jesus Christ it was one of the best fried chicken I've ever had. And trust me I've had ALOT of fried chicken. It was crispy, very flavorful no condiments needed and most importantly, super JUICY. Just wow. Also ordered the waygu burger medium and that too hit the spot perfectly after my wife had to do a 3 hour glucose test. The only thing that wasn't a perfect 10 was the ube latte, which was tasty but probably will try something different next time we go. Service was amazing and the staff were friendly and all had smiles. Anyways next time you're in the chino area and are looking for brunch joint, please done hesitate to give this place a try. This is a hidden gem. It's a brunch cafe in the daytime and converted to Shabu Shabu at night time. I went for brunch and had an amazing meal. The steak was very tender. I went for medium as suggested by my server. The omelette was great too. Just the right vibes to have brunch! The location on Apple Maps was not very accurate. It's on the right, not on the left if you park towards the East. read more

The salmon eggs benedict was my favorite- I loved that the English muffin was fried! It was also super filling. My friends enjoyed the fried chicken croffle (huge serving that two people shared). I thought the French toast was okay. Very sweet, but I would try something different next time. Arrived at 11AM on a Friday and had no wait time for my party of three. The service was great. They let us return a drink we did not like for another one. Option to sit outdoors was nice. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. Lots of flavors to every bite. I had the steak and eggs. The chimichuri was delicious. Steak had a good sear to it. My husband got the classic breakfast. The sausages are definitely a must try. We also got the ube latter and shrek latte. The drinks are so yummy and flavorful and not too sweet. Servers are welcoming and friendly. They were checking on us every now and then to see if we needed anything. Service was fast as well. Ambience is nice and calm. Not too bright lights and not too loud. Good for sensory sensitive. So Wara Cafe seems to be the morning and afternoon restaurant and at dinner time, the restaurant coverts to Shabu Wara. A unique concept. They were doing a soft opening so the menu was limited. We had the sweet Croffle (waffle made with croissant batter) with whipped cream and berries and the Chicken Croffle. It was my first time trying a Croffle and I highly recommend it. It was hot and crispy on the outside and soft and a lightly chewy inside. I think it's a better texture and density than a regular waffle. My chicken Croffle came with some smashed potatoes, a side salad, and a good size boneless fried chicken. The chicken was hot and crispy outside and moist inside with good seasoning. We put our name on the waiting list online and the table was ready in about 15 minutes (Sunday noon). My wife got the fried chicken eggs Benedict and I got the fried chicken sandwich. Pros - both were very good. (Maybe the best fried chicken sandwich I've had locally) very juicy sandwich.
