Came here for an early dinner since it is open the whole day which I appreciate as an American who eats before 7pm some days! The service was extremely quick and pretty attentive. The restaurant itself was clean and taken care of. Looks smaller than it is from the outside. The food itself was eh. The chicken fried rice was pretty good, a little greasy. The sweet and sour pork was not up to par. The sauce seemed to run off the pork pieces so they weren't juicy or coated in sauce, honestly would definitely prefer most American Chinese takeout to this sweet and sour pork. We also had the pork ribs with hoisin sauce and I didn't enjoy the sauce at all. The green beans were priced super well, but too greasy and oily for a healthy veggie dish. We got duck to go, and were disappointed because there was wayyyyy more bone than meat. Overall: the prices are very, very reasonable and the food is okay, but can't compare to other Chinese restaurants I've been to. I think Mink ate more Chinese on this trip than she did all year at home lol. She was saying Chinese food is consistent and wanted me to pick up takeout for her before I went to dinner. We found Wang Xiang Lou and I was off. She sent me photos of what she wanted so I could show the cashier. They provide a menu that is in Italian and English. There were also photos to confirm from the menu. I ordered her a Riso Alla Cantonese and a Gamberi Con Funghi E Bambu. Basically Fried Cantonese Rice and Shrimp with Mushrooms and Bamboo. The kitchen didn't take long to get the order out and they provide utensils. It was a lot of food for just €13,50! Mink said it was really good and I had a bite of each before heading off to dinner. Craving for some Asian food after eating Italian food for a few days and this restaurant happened to be down the block from our hotel. Didn't know what to expect but when I saw some Korean food on the menu I was like uh-oh is it kinda like Pan-Asian restaurant? Nonetheless, we ordered a few very classic Chinese dishes including Kung Pao chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Stir Fry String beans, etc. and they were quite different than what we expected. The ingredients they used were a bit different than what we're used to. The taste wasn't bad but not good neither. Good enough to fill our stomach. We were in Italy for about 3 weeks and we needed some chinese food. We needed a break from pasta, pizza and meats! This place was just up the street from our hotel, best western universo. We needed a break from pasta & pizza so we decided to give this place a try. Judging by the prices I figured the portions would be small to medium and I was right so we ordered several dishes. I can always go for a Chinese meal, but what I'd accept abroad isn't necessarily what I'd choose in the states. Wang Xiang Lou is a good example. We had an order of mixed vegetables with chicken -- (okay) -- a noodle dish -- (not bad when jazzed up with soy and duck sauce) -- and a beef dish. The meat was grizzly. "It tastes like what they'd put in a Hearty Man frozen dinner," my daughter said. (We didn't finish it.) We had taken a food tour in Venice and the guide, a gal from Vietnam, said that many Asian restaurants in Italy use frozen ingredients. I don't know if that's the case here, but nonetheless, I've experienced better. If you don't have an affinity for Chinese food, you might find this restaurant okay. If you have gourmet expectations, go elsewhere. read more

I had a meal here in the fall of 2019. I really didn't plan on eating Chinese food on my Rome trip, but smelling the food cooking every time a walked by (was close to my hotel), so I had to try it. The decor and ambiance was like any other Asian restaurant back in the states. Very casual. I didn't order anything brave, just potstickers and sweet and sour chicken noodles. Both were fresh and very good tasting, I especially liked the noodles and the entree was well portioned. Decent price too. 5 stars for my meal. I would recommend it any day. We stopped here when the restaurant we wanted to go to had a long wait. We were extremely hungry and tired and this place was next door. I ordered the sweet and sour soup, an entree and fried rice all a la cart. Now I guess we got tired of eating Italian foods after being in Rome a week and wanted to try something different. There wasn't any wait and like I sad we were tired after being on an excursion all day. I say that to say this meal filled us up but left much to be desired. Got tired of Italian food during our 13-day trip in Italy and was desperately seeking for a decent Chinese restaurant for the "food break". On top of that, I was sick and cannot stop coughing. I just needed a light soup to ease my throat... Luckily I found this place which made my coughing situation better. Me and my husband ordered their bok choy, 干煸四季豆, egg plant, fried rice and toufu veggie soup. They are all delicious... Nothing fancy but just taste so like home. I like that they do not make the dishes too salty or greasy...just right portion of everything. The next day, me and my husband even went back to have another meal there before head back to US. Visited Rome as part of a 2-week trip in Europe. After eating tapas in Barcelona and pizza/pasta in Italy (no matter how good it is), sometimes you just want a different flavor profile. My kids and I were craving some Chinese food and found this place close to our hotel near Repubblica. It wasn't the best Chinese (flavor was definitely Westernized) but the food was clean and simple. My kids got shrimp w cashews, sweet/sour chicken, and I got pork ribs. The portions weren't huge (by American standards) but we were satisfied. The kids even shared a dessert and I had a large beer and the bill was very reasonable. The restaurant was very clean and the menu was easy to order off of (lots of pictures alongside Chinese/Italian/English descriptions). I would give this place a 3.5 (rounds up to 4 on the Yelp scale). It definitely met our desire for Chinese food in the middle of a European vacation. read more

The food was cheap but certainly did not stand out. Our order of fish was terribly lacking in flavor and portions were very small. However mediocre the food was, the service was another matter. The waiters had their fingers in the food as they placed our dishes on the table and I'm sure my plate wasn't clean. Our hotel is very close to this restaurant, one day we just missed some Chinese food and we walked in. It's surprisingly good!!! We live close to Toronto and we are Chinese, so I guess we can certainly tell what is good Chinese food. The only thing we can complain is the fact that the food is a bit too salty to our taste, but, hey, most food in Italy are too salty to our taste anyway~ this place is also very reasonably priced!!! We went here as a change of pace for our family. Majority of the food was reasonably good including the hot and sour soup as well as the eggplant with pork. Most of their food I would give 4 stars. However, we ordered a bone in spicy chicken dish and it came out raw - not pink on the inside, straight up raw and uncooked on the outside for some of the pieces. We informed them and they took the dish back and instead of making a fresh one, they just put it back in the pan and brought it out again. It was no longer raw on the outside, but it was still bleeding when we cut into the pieces. After that we just gave up. When they asked why we ate all of our other dishes except for that one, we explained it was still bleeding and raw. They said 'okay' and just took our plates away and gave us the check (with the raw chicken STILL on the bill). Overall the food was good and typically I don't mind trying some place new and getting mediocre food in a touristy area, but not when it has the chance of ruining your entire trip due to food poisoning. Stay away from any chicken and seafood dishes and I suppose this place is a good find if you really need some Chinese food while in Rome? read more
