I went to visit your establishment on February 6 the Brewster one. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the Calabasas pepper, hot honey and arugula it was the worst sandwich I've ever had and to top it off the chicken wasn't cooked through and I spoke to the young kid at the register about my meal and he told me its supposed to be like that. I'm a chef I know some things. I also ordered a Patti melt it wasn't bad but it was very greasy and my brother ordered the gyro when he asked about the chicken is it sliced that kid said NO IT'S A WHOLE PIECE OF CHICKEN guess what it was sliced. I'm shocked this place doesn't have a line out the door. I don't think I've ever gotten one bad thing here. My personal favorite and usual go to the chicken salad sandwich. I get it on a brioche bun and it's delicious! They pair it with a really thick bacon an extra crunch. My bf and I have gotten so many things from here but one of the best specials we've ever had was last winter. They made a pasta with a black pepper cream sauce that was out of this world. I can only hope more word spreads about this place. I think the only thing stopping it from being a huge success is the location. If you don't know about Wandering Dave's then it's kind of hard to come across in the particular shopping center it's in. I wish them all the success! I hope next time I go there is a line out the door, because a small town like this NEEDS innovation like theirs. read more

This weekend my wife and I were at a Fund Raiser event in Patterson, NY. Wandering Dave's Food Truck was there as well to provide refreshments. Few places to stop for a bite on the stretch from Brewster to Amenia and Wondering Dave's is certainly a gem. I believe they operate a very successful food truck and now have this home base in a long strip of stores behind the Burger King. If you are fortunate enough to pass by for breakfast, they offer a dynamite egg and cheddar on a brioche and a choice of sweet or savory sausage that resembles a hamburger sized patty, for 5 dollars. The lunch menu also has a number of superb choices. A must stop, hours can vary depending the food truck event schedule. read more

Wondering Dave's has never missed a beat with a meal EVER, the food is absolutely excellent some of my favorites on the menu is the chicken gyro & the lobster mac n cheese. One of my big things about Dave's is the quality of the ingredients in the meals themselves & the cleanliness behind the counter and in the kitchen it's been about 3 or 4 years now back to before they had there store front location and just the truck and I have never had a discrepancy with a single order. 10/10 some of the best food in this town! read more

Guess Dave got tired of wandering :) So he locked up the truck and opened a small eat-in or take out spot in the mall. We should rejoice as his food is now available year-round, and can be enjoyed sitting down, with excellent service to boot! This was a road trip stop for lunch, guided by the stellar reviews. We concur. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable - giving us some background on Dave, their plans for further expansion, while taking care of table service and doing the "little things" that distinguish superior restaurants from all the rest (like cleaning the menus). The tuna tacos (3 per order) were fresh and flavorful- served with Siracha Slaw and a soy vinegar sauce. Plenty of food for a full meal or a share. My wife's grilled chicken with brie and apple was served on a fresh baguette and was melt in your mouthwatering good. They offer Hal's sodas and Bluestone Lane iced coffees, including a 20 calorie, no sugar, oat milk version that tasted just like the 560 calorie Starbucks Frappuccino. Wow I had a fantastic dinner here the other day! We stopped by on our way to another event so we didn't want to have too many leftovers and decided to share some things. Well we over ordered, of course, but I'm not disappointed! The guy at the front was SO friendly. They have a very unique menu ranging from chicken sandwiches, to ramen, to pork chops. We decided to get the buttermilk chicken sandwich, the Mac n cheese, and the truffle fries. Everything was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The food here is absolutely lovely! Everything seems cooked fresh to order and is spectacular. We've had a few of the sandwiches and none of them disappoint. Their drink selection is also very nice. Only small local brands of drink. Mr. Dave himself even came out to greet us on our first visit which was very nice of him! Only gripe I have is that the menu isn't anywhere on the wall. The whole experience was magnificent. We went in around 10 am to a spotless little place. Dakota waited on us (counter service) and when he learned we'd never been there, reviewed the menu with us. A very helpful young person- I'd hire him in a minute! I had a Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich- foreground in photo. BF had a breakfast sandwich (sausage egg and cheese) and truffle fries. The chicken was piled so high on my sandwich that I had to eat it as two open faced halves. Fried perfectly and complemented by the arugula, pickles, sauce etc. BF's sandwich was also huge with eggs (2) and sausage crisped up. With "just the right amount of spice". It's easy to miss this small and quaint place, but it's a must for people in Brewster, looking for a quality breakfast (or other meals), at a reasonable price. I happened upon Wandering Dave's while passing through, and enjoyed a delicious Bacon and egg on a roll. The bread was bakery quality, and they piled on the bacon and eggs. In future orders I have requested only one egg, because 2 was a lot for me to handle. Also included on their menu are plenty of lunch and dinner items, and they stay open until 8 PM. I've spoken to 2 members of their staff, I believe one was either the owner or family, and found their exchanges friendly and welcoming. Stopped in a local shopping center looking for a late lunch that wasn't a traditional fast food place. Wandering Dave's looked interesting so I gave it a try. I had a buttermilk chicken sandwich with a sweet chili sauce . It was cooked perfectly with a crispy exterior and a tender interior. The chicken was an entire breast . I was impressed with the variety and unique offerings on their menu. If you're looking for cheap fast food this is not for you. If you want quality and taste give Traveling Dave's a try. read more

I'm honestly just confused on how this this place has 5 stars. I really hate leaving negative reviews but hopefully this helps someone make a better choice than we did on what to order. Perhaps we just need to try something different (although I don't think we'll be back). What I liked: -The only reason I gave them two instead of 1 star is because the girl behind the counter was super sweet and helpful. -the baguette & toasted cheese in the salad was yummy What I didn't like: -the steak sandwich my boyfriend ordered was the size of a 6" sub only way less meat & toppings than you'd get at a Subway. Also cost 3x as much at a whopping $13 for a tiny sandwich that doesn't come with a side -the cheese on the steak sandwich was slapped on the bread without even melting the cheese, I'd expect more for a sandwich at this price -the steak was ordered medium rare yet it was very chewy & lacked basic flavor/seasoning (there was also no salt anywhere in sight to fix this, maybe due to covid?) -my kale Cesar salad looked delish until I tasted the dressing. The dressing OVERWHELMINGLY tasted like fish. Yes, a good Cesar should have anchovies but wow, this dressing tasted like ground up fish mixed with mayo. Ruined my salad :( read more

Absolutely disgusting. Tried this place once and will never return. I ordered some pasta with buffalo chicken on it and when I saw them making it, I regretted going to this place. I saw them pouring the hot sauce out of a 1 gallon milk container. The food was absolutely terrible. This place is great! Had the buttternut squash and I was warned that the portions weren't very big so I got it with chicken. I thought everything was great we got a side of mashed potato's and my man got a short rib sandwich with truffle fries. Everything was so good. We told the waiter it was our first time there and they said the chef wanted to give us something. He came out with a delicious Carmel popcorn panna cotta and it was so good. Excellent high quality take out restaurant with some limited seating. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for something with more upscale food than the other local restaurants in the area. Everything I've ordered has so far been excellent: My favorite is the Chicken Gyro. Chicken salad sandwich is also excellent. Shrimp tacos great for lighter fare. This is quite disappointing to write, because I really wanted to love this place. This location is a permanent eating establishment for a food truck, of from which I had never had the food. I came in with no expectations and an open mind to the menu. My first visit here was decent, but not the greatest first impression. The interior is cringeworthy, and even though I'd had eaten in I knew from then on I would take things to go. I believe the interior was inspired from the inside of a food truck- all metal. However, with the overly bright lighting and smooth-grinded, unpainted metal tables and chairs, I felt like I was eating under a dentist lamp on a surgical table. First glance at the menu I realized my vegetarian options were limited to breakfast and salads. Disappointed, I asked what was vegetarian and was directed back to the salad menu which also had a grain bowl on it. That's the only thing that caught my interest from the options available to me. My boyfriend ordered the lobster roll and obviously had high expectations, because it's a lobster item for a high price. My grain bowl was amazing, absolutely delicious! I knew I would have to come back for it again, even if it was the only thing I ever got from here. My boyfriend was quite disappointed in the lobster roll. He barely touched his fries and said the lobster roll was over priced for the quality and the size. Then, what we believed to be the owner came out and asked how everything was. While we weren't honest about the lobster roll, we were about the grain bowl and the lack of vegetarian/vegan choices. He pointed out there was a vegan special soup of the day (I then ordered a small to go) and he assured me there would be a NEW menu coming out shortly with MORE vegetarian options. The soup I took home was carrot ginger, it was overpowered by ginger and I ended up watering it down to drink it as a broth. We waited a few weeks to return. Returning for a second try, my boyfriend was reluctant but I was ready to see this new menu. We asked the employee at counter if the new menu came out and he said things had only been added or switched to the current menu. I asked what was now vegetarian and AGAIN I was pointed to the salad selections. The grain bowl was gone! The new vegetarian items weren't additional options, they simply were just three new salads to replace the three old ones. I don't know if there were any soup specials that day I could eat, I certainly wasn't told of any. At that point I straight up said the options were boring and limited. We asked if we could get the grain bowl specially made with low hopes, and were told they don't carry the ingredients anymore. If I can't eat somewhere, my boyfriend won't so he didn't even bother to look at the new items on the menu. We walked out without ordering anything, and without any customer service past the point of me communicating my disappointment. Unfortunately, there is no reason to come back and try to give this place another shot with its current standing menu. Maybe one day I'll come back to check in but I certainly won't be wasting the gas anytime soon. read more

Dave catered a Ladies' track day I recently attended at NYST. At buffets, I always try a little of everything to see what I like...I did that with Dave's, and I liked EVERY SINGLE DISH! Usually if the pork is good, the wings aren't, or if the mac & cheese is good, the salad isn't. And I don't always love sausage and peppers, because the peppers are too slimy or under-seasoned. But he provided all these things, and they were all DELICIOUS! And our lunch was just what we needed to sustain us through the remaining afternoon of riding. He even provided Boylans root beer and cola (in addition to lots of much-needed water). I only drink soda when I'm riding, and then it is THE BEST. It was like he read my mind. It all truly hit the spot. He also made accommodations for the veggies among us, which is something I always look for and appreciate, and think is a sign of great hospitality. Thank you!!! read more

This is my favorite food truck in the Hudson Valley , but hard to catch as I am a weekender. I am ecstatic that there is now a permanent location where I can grab my favorite dishes. Don't be put off by their simple appearance, their sophisticated takes on comfort food with international influences have made converts of the fashion industry friends I have dragged upstate from Manhattan. Pork belly Kimchi tacos are delicious. I love the cream puffs with added chocolate truffles. My go-to is the lobster mac and cheese which is more of a light creamy saffron pasta than cheesy, but it is better that way. My only complaint would be this dish is skimpy on the lobster meat, which is reflected in the affordable price. It would be great for to have an upgrade option, where you could get extra lobster for an upcharge. Menu is constantly evolving. The fried chicken is tasty, short rib grilled cheese is also a messy, but foodie fave. read more
