The units were under warranty, but they wouldn't cover this issue. They quoted almost $5k to fix it. I ran a new line set ($250, 30 min) and called Cyr and Rigney, they quoted $600 to fix it and provide a maintenance routine on it (clean coils etc). It's actually running colder than new. I suspect it wasn't installed correctly, since the longer line set required extra refrigerant (beyond the standard of 25 ft). Highly recommended. Honest pricing. Professional. I couldn't be happier.

He (jason) never took out a permit through the City of Worcester. I was notified by city inspector in December 2024. Jason came to my home and I complained to him about mini-splits turn on in the off position. He(jason) stated he would put in a work request ASAP. They walked us through every step of the installation, answered all of our questions clearly, and explained how to use and maintain our new heating system so we can get the most out of it for years to come. The installation itself was done with great attention to detail -- they arrived on time, worked efficiently, protected our floors, and cleaned up so well it looked like they were never here. The difference in our home's comfort is incredible, and you can tell the work was done right. It's rare these days to find a company that combines fair pricing, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional customer care, but they truly delivered on all three. This would be 5 stars if they didn't end up price gouging for a routine maintenance visit…read more I've used them before, once for a routine service visit and once when a radiator pipe was leaking (they ended up also doing our next service on the boiler at that time). The first time they did the maintenance, they didn't drain and refill the boiler, which was always done by any previous service techs. The second time I asked them to (after they replaced the bolt on the leaking pipe) and they did. In June of this year when they came for the maintenance, I mentioned that I'd like the boiler drained/filled again. Steve starts talking about how if I want the boiler drained, there are separate charges since they are different jobs, the burner and the water. This is news to me; every reputable tech has always drained the boiler as part of the service, even when we had an oil boiler, and the charge includes both services. After spending no more than 15 min total on my boiler, I go to write a check ($125 a year ago) and he says he needs to call the office to get the price. Red flag. They did not quote me when I called, but I also had used them before for the same service and knew that if the price went up, say to $150, I would have been fine with that. He returns and says it's $325 and does this song and dance about how their costs have gone up and he's not going to charge me the $125 fee to come out. What? It would have been $450 for a 15-minute scheduled routine maintenance call? I followed up with the office a few times to get an invoice with the 2 "charges" broken out. You guessed it, a month later they have ignored the request. I try to keep my business local rather than go with the big companies. Top Mechanical gave me a great lesson on how the little guy will choose to rip you off if he feels he can get away with it. Go with the big company is the takeaway if you don't want to be ripped off.
