We asked for sourdough toast and got a nope! for an answer and choose the local homemade country bread instead and it was very good, reminded me of the country white La Brea bakery makes in my area. My grandparents retired in 1977 and built a cottage in Caseville. Our family has been coming up here once a year in July. Since then, families have been raised in Caseville and our reunion continues to this day. Walt's has been a staple of this community many years before then. Sunday breakfasts have been a tradition for over 40 years. Walt's has the best breakfast in the THUMB HANDS DOWN!!! Their toast is homemade and the eggs are always farm fresh and the Home Fries are outstanding. I hate the condescending, over-privelaged, spoiled a-hole/d-bags that leave bad reviews of this place. They come from Bloomfield Hills and Auburn Hills, etc., and they come with their privileged, condescending attitude and are lucky enough to be served breakfast/lunch/dinner whatever. Hometown friendly restaurant. They display on the door that they only take cash. This is a small family owned restaurant and they can't afford the percentage that credit card companies charge to use a credit card. I suggest if you have an issue with that go to the nearest ATM and you pay the price to get the cash out on your credit card. I've been going to this restaurant since I was a little girl. They have great homemade food. The waitresses are sassy, quick, fun and some can be a little grouchy. But overall they're great. And you're not going to find better prices in the area. Very reasonable for homemade biscuits and bread. If you've never tried their homemade cinnamon rolls or their homemade donuts for dessert you're missing out. Their cheeseburgers are great. What are we stopping for? "This place looks good." What place? "Right there" You sure? "Get out of the truck!" And so we walked into a very small place on the main drag of tiny Caseville, Michigan. Walt's Restaurant, is one of the family places I always talk about, but for some reason this place was not hitting me right as I looked at it from the street. When we got inside, one thing was slightly apparent. These people have a serious NASCAR love affair! I thought this building had been pulled from the center of Michigan International Speedway and transplanted in Caseville. We sat down at the front window to watch a car drive by every 10 minutes or so. There were 5 people inside not including us and the waitress. In other words half the town. Our waitress came up and suggested the daily special, which on this day was Goulash. I hadn't seen Goulash in ages so my buddy and I both ordered it. With the lunch came a side of soup and fresh baked rolls. Ok... I am becoming a more happy camper, due to the thought of having Goulash for the first times in years. After a bit of a wait, our cup of soup came to us. Home made Chicken Noodle. Just a tad cooler than the surface of the sun, but none the less very good. Not long after we finished, came out the main attraction. I had set myself to not be bummed out by the size or the taste. I mean no one meats my Mom's Goulash. Well when she used to make it when I was a kid. Well the plate was big. and the Goulash filled every bit of it and then some. This was a really large serving! Ok it's gonna taste like crap then... But oh no! Wrong on every count with this place! The Goulash was amazing! I mean really amazing! All the more with the addition of Parmesan cheese on the top. I could not finish the meal and had to ask for a doggy bag. Add to this meal the amazing conversation we heard between the regulars and the waitress about last nights town play of "The Nutcracker" and the waitress's performance, really made for quite an enjoyable setting. Arguably "the best place in town" for breakfast, based on other Yelp reviews, so we out-of-towners gave it a shot. Had to wait a few minutes (outside) for a table, even at 10 AM (a good, if slightly frustrating, sign), but the hostess was creative, offering the couple in front of us a chance at a "Walt's Adventure," seating them at a 4-top with another couple. Too funny. We were seated shortly after. The service was average; very friendly but a bit disorganized. Utensils arrived after our food, for example. The food was good; general breakfast fare with lots of homemade bakery options. The highlight was the cinnamon roll -- a large, warm roll with the choice of maple "syrup" on top or on the side. We opted for the side. It was more of a thick icing than a syrup, which was a lovely (and finger-licking) treat, and a nice twist on the standard white icing. I ordered the special: a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit smothered in sausage gravy. The husband ordered corned beef hash and eggs, and the kiddos got French toast, and an egg/bacon/toast plate. Coffee and OJ to drink. Quite honestly, the sausage gravy and corned beef hash both lacked seasoning; we peppered them at the table, which helped. The biscuit was large and fluffy. I might have been happier with just sausage gravy and biscuits, as the egg/cheese/sausage under all the gravy had very little flavor of its own. Three slices of French toast were grilled nicely, and the over-easy egg was perfectly runny for my youngest's "build your own egg sandwich." (i.e. put your egg on your toast...) The decor was welcoming and friendly. Seating was comfortable. Overall: we were satisfied, and in tiny Caseville I can see why this place is a favorite. read more

Stopped here randomly while looking for a bite to eat at breakfast. There is a sign on the door that reads no credit/debit, so come prepared with cash. The atmosphere was very homey and warm and we seated ourselves near the kitchen area in the back. Our waitress - and the other lady working - were both very nice and offered us coffee as soon as we sat down. I ordered a breakfast that included 2 eggs, choice of meat (bacon for me), fried potatoes, and choice of toast. The homemade toast was soft and delicious! My boyfriend ordered an omelet and rye bread. They came out very soon after ordering. Being a tourist, I felt at home here and left still talking about how cute and wonderful it was. read more

I been to some hole in the wall places so im not a snob if you have great food i dont care what your Restaurant looks like. if your not used to well water don't order a glass of water trust me. I ordered an orange juice nothing quality or spectacular and it was room temperature. The breakfast special eggs toast potato and sausage links. Eggs and toast and potatoes were great the sausage links were mostly just all fat. Other people here seemed to enjoy the food. It wasn't my kinda place. The poor waitstaff foreheads were full of sweat from the heat. It kinda turned me off. I can't say I'd come back, unless they get some air condition and a little bit better quality product. " we'll it's gonna be a while for that so when everyone else is getting their orders first don't be surprised that yours isn't ready yet..." The other waitress took the ketchup off our table to give to another table & when our food came up we couldn't get a ketchup to save our lives. Third time asking the waitress shushed me!
