Came across this gem on a recent trip to Harbor Beach. In a time when many restaurants have closed it was a pleasant surprise to find such an excellent restaurant opening it's doors. When you step inside the first thing you notice is the eclectic decor - it really sets the room off. Currently they serve only breakfast and lunch but they hope to offer dinner service in the future. The restaurant is family run and everyone is so nice. Our waitress made us feel welcome and was very attentive. The food came quickly and was well-prepared. Prices were very reasonable and serving just the right size. The restaurant does not take reservations, despite what some websites say. The restaurant is small and parking is on the street so if you come at a busy time you may have to be a little patient....take my word, it's worth it. read more

I know they close at 2pm, I was trying to be quick. Alone on a Monday at 1:15 I stopped for a quick breakfast before they closed. They stop serving breakfast at 11am. No problem. I did wait a bit for the tall blonde server (there were two other tables occupied when I arrived.) I finally got coffee, then waited a bit for utensils. I ordered a BLT with fries. When my 1st coffee cup had been empty for some time I tried getting the server's attention, lastly by tapping, lightly, my spoon on my cup. It was almost closing time and I had been waiting already. She had the audacity to tell me from across the room that she knew that I was waiting and tapping my cup was not going to help at all as she was so busy. She would bring me coffee when she could. Aye, a salty one, indeed. That was uncalled for. Meanwhile the owner sat talking with out of town guests. Very friendly man. Btw, fries were excellent and the sandwich had a good amount of bacon on it but the tomato slice was so thin you could see daylight through it. I was sitting in the front window at 1887, yes. I really want to try one of their Mediterranean specialties soon. Hopefully with less salt. read more

We recently had a large catering order from 1887 and everything was delicious. They were easy to work with and helped me plan a menu that would suit our large group. I just wish they were open for dinner so we could order more often. read more

The bread was very old on the signature burger and the fries tasted like they been cooked in dirty old fish oil and there was only 4 people in the restaurant and I waited almost 45 minutes for a basic meal needless to say I would never go back and that's sad because I work in the area and the first time it was amazing so that just shows how bad my experience was the last time read more
