I've been coming to William's inn since I was a child. Nothing makes me happier then driving up from the city and seeing the cozy farm house lights on and the open sign shining. Not a single hot veggie on the buffet that comes from Gordon Foods. Tried to order off the menu instead on my second visit and wow. Food tasted freezer burnt and old. and that was about the only flavor besides way too much salt. Don't bother asking for something to be made any different than what you're served or this little old lady comes from the kitchen and chews you out for her bad cooking. I took my parents there for breakfast, and really enjoyed our relaxing time there. I got the Williams Inn Special (3 eggs over easy and cooked perfectly, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and hash browns, and it was HUGE for about $7.40. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I really liked the antique pictures on the wall, stone fireplace, and beautiful hardwood floors. Simple, inexpensive, clean, and quiet, just what we were looking for. **Disclaimer** It is really hard to give a fair review right now. I totally understand that most restaurants are understaffed due to Covid and I really do try to cut some slack for that. On a weekend away in the Harbor Beach area, it was slim pickings for breakfast. After trying a few other places that said they were open and weren't we ended up at the Williams Inn. We were quickly sat and then we sat. And sat. Finally our server arrived and explained the breakfast buffet. It apparently is the only option for breakfast. They have a cold bar (soup and salad) and a warm bar (breakfast). You can have either/or or both. I started with the cold, hubs with the warm. Shortly after sitting back down, the server came over and said "so we have one cold and one hot?" I responded that it was likely we would be going back up and I would have both. I don't know if we ever saw her again while we ate. The food was good. They had chicken noodle soup and it was full of homemade noodles, hearty and delicious. Salad was pretty standard stuff but the ranch was on point. As far as breakfast went, it was nothing special and there wasn't any bacon, but the sausage gravy was really good and I am picky about it, but the biscuits were all gone. After two trips each, our table had a lot of plates on it and once we were done it took several minutes to track down and wave over our server for our check. I'd like to point out it was not busy. There were only about 5 tables sat and several others sat un-bussed the whole time we were there. I didn't really see any servers and it is a buffet - they really just bring drinks. Ok this restaurant has a history of being excellent. It closed down for while and reopened. Went for breakfast Sunday morning as we were visiting the area. Ordered the buffet. Walked up to the buffet to get my breakfast.What was on the buffet? Scrambled eggs, and sausage gravy. I served myself scrambled eggs and some sausage gravy. I and many other customers stood there and waited as my food was getting cold for over 15 minutes and nothing else was brought out to the buffet. No meat , not anything. There was a party of six we all ordered the buffet which had no food on it. We were at this restaurant over an hour and still no meat was brought out to the buffet. I think blueberry pancakes arrived in 30 minutes. Just beware, they try charging you a full price buffet for only eggs and sausage gravy on it. Will not go back. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday on the way back from a beach day in caseville. Buffet was the only option which isn't normally my thing but the price was acceptable and the food marginal. The chicken soup was great and a few of the options on the buffet line were decent enough. We had the dinner buffet. For $16 you can't beat a good home cooked meal that is all you can eat! They also offer an extensive menu that had choices all reasonably priced especially for this day and age. The homemade bean and homemade chicken noodle soups were perfect. The meatloaf was a hit as well as the cod, shrimp and baked chicken. The salad bar had just enough choices to make a good salad. The homemade bread was super yummy as well. There was a dessert table, but we were all too full to try it. The waitress was attentive and picked up our plates when she noticed we returned to the buffet. The restaurant seems to be in an older home transformed into a restaurant, but we didn't expect the Taj Mahal in Harbor Beach. It was cozy. The bathrooms are up a small flight of stairs so I am unsure how someone in a wheelchair or with a walker would use the facilities. We will return if we are in the area in the future. read more

Stopped in for dinner last night. Very disappointed. Only 4 people (2 tables) at 6:30, and the server was not attentive. The food was bland, roast beef dinner was overcooked, stringy, and flavorless. The country fried steak was not homemade, but frozen patties, and tasted like cardboard. The beef/ vegetable soup on the soup and salad bar was dried out and sticking to the sides of the soup warmer. The only redeeming item was the salad bar. The service was really was poor, you would think that with only 2 active tables in the place, she would have been attentive. We drove a half hour to eat breakfast here. The breakfast buffet was promoted as fresh and going to be refilled as we ordered. We were there for almost an hour waiting for the refills that never happened. No bacon on the buffet at all. Ham was never refilled while we were there. Sliced potatoes remained empty the whole time. As did several other items.. Hash browns had been sitting for so long they were crunchy from being air dried and they were so cold they could have come directly from the refrigerator. "Fresh fruit" is out of a can except for the few sliced bananas on the top and it wasn't put out until 5 minutes before we left. Just as we were leaving a woman coughed over the food and I will not describe where the noticeable particles went. God I could throw up just thinking about it. I tried to inform the waitress but Jenny, the waitress, said she was "to busy to hear why" there was an issue. read more

I went here over the weekend. I always liked their buffet, especially the perch and walleye. Was glad they were open again after a few years. Was really surprised how loose they were with Covid guidelines. Was surprised there WAS a buffet since in these times I can't think of any restaurant that has one. There was a server who brought lettuce to the buffet without a mask. Was told she "had a medical excuse from a doctor". Re Open now for 6 months & they still have not gotten it up to what it used to be. Need more help, someone @ door seating people, that can get people rung up & out the door for more people to sit. Hostess could also help servers with coffee & dirty plates. They did have someone working the buffet & that helped food stay fresh & hot.
