Love coming to Birdcreek farms because it's delicious, great beer, great atmosphere and a little because there isn't much else around :). On our trip to Michigan we came here twice and really enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere with family. 10ish beers on draft constantly rotating and an excellent menu. Burger is amazing!!!! Toasty bun, if you get one, two smashed beef patties, house made pickles, and all the other works. My mouth is watering thinking about it :) Fries are incredible, gluten free if you need to know, walleye Is so flakey, quinoa salad not pictured but also excellent, and lastly that charcuterie!! A selection of amazing meat and cheese, pickles, olives, fresh honey comb, nuts...oh my amazing! This place is so stinkin' cute and has such a great vibe, which was very surprising given that everything in the main part of Port Austin was just very small-town, quaint vibes. Bird Creek really stood out on its own as having a unique classy, farmhouse style to it that just really set the mood for a good time & I was pretty obsessed with the luscious vines of hops gently swaying with the breeze! The waitstaff here is completely amazing, especially during COVID. The patio seating everywhere was so wonderful, and there was also tons of bar space as well. It's open, it's airy, and you can walk the grounds and check out their greenhouses while you wait, if you need to wait. A true farm to table! The food was absolutely spectacular as well! We got the charcuterie board, which we thoroughly enjoyed, before the bees descended and also thoroughly enjoyed haha. But the waitstaff said that normally the bees were not this "friendly," and that they were only really all up in our businesses because it had rained the day before. But our waiter quickly cleared the board away from us and redirected the bees away from the patio, which is just another testament to how wonderful the waitstaff is! Definitely try the miso portobello burger too! I'm not even vegetarian/vegan and it was honestly SO DELICIOUS! I'm still thinking about it days later! I randomly found this place on yelp after a girls day trip to port Austin, and I am SO glad that I did. This place is so delicious that I came back the NEXT weekend with my mother, after spending the day at the beach. Smaller menu, but the food is delicious. The seating is outdoor on a beautiful wrap around porch, and in the grass area by the barn. We literally ate our dinner and watched deer in the field behind the barn come out to eat at dusk. The cocktails are amazing and the draft beer selection is great also! read more

Sadly I have to say the fires were a bit well done and some of the pieces of the pulled pork on the fried were just fat, yuck! Very solid experience - great food and decent beer/cocktail selection. Service was friendly and the outdoor atmosphere was outstanding. A perfect location gets five stars - almost perfect is four. I had to rate three - we waited over ten minutes between getting menus/being seated and having our drink order taken (they were not exceptionally busy). We were not impressed with the location's COVID precautions. None of the staff were wearing face coverings and there was no signage or enforcement of the Michigan guidelines.... not cool. I cannot say enough nice things about The Tap Room at Bird Creek Farm. I am also not embarrassed to say that I came here three days in a row during my weekend in PA. My BF and decided to check this place out for dinner shortly after arriving in Port Austin. When we arrived, there was hardly anybody around so we got seated immediately. The servers were very friendly and informative and the food was amazing! Quality food and you can tell it's very fresh. A lot of the ingredients come straight from the farm! We sat on the deck all three days and enjoyed the view! The deck overlooks many acres of land. They have a patio next to the deck with chairs, tables, bonfire pits, oh and a chicken coop! After dinner, we said hello to the chickens. On the deck, there is a little bar the made some of the best cocktails. We left that weekend craving one of their Moscow Mules! Their beer (broken Rocks brewery) was also very good. I 100% recommend making a stop at The Tap Room if you are visiting in either PA or Caseville. I believe at the beginning of this year, the Tap Room turned into more of a beer-first place so if you're expecting a full meal, this isn't it. Either way, it's a nice outdoor bar with plenty of seating and a nice atmosphere. They have a great selection of mainly Michigan beers. Some I've never seen before and a couple rotating beers from their own 'Broken Rock Brewery'. The food options are mainly to enjoy while drinking beer. That includes fries and tacos and whatever is fresh at the farm. I came here on a hot, slow day so can't attest to the slow service. But if you like beer and are in the area, I'd definitely visit. read more

Awesome selection of draft beer and cider and they make some mean cocktails. The bar is outside and very cozy, lots of picnic tables under the market lights on the deck. When it's chilly in the fall they bring out blankets. Definitely play hammerschlaggen when you're here. 1 star for atmosphere and great beer selection which were the only highlights of our afternoon here yesterday. Waitress was a bit fake friendly and more interested in getting back to her conversation with the hostess than actually making us feel welcomed or interested that we were there. That theme continued. We ordered two beers to start, the husband recieved the wrong one because "I couldn't find it in our system". It was still a Shorts at least so he just rolled with it. A little later, we tried a John Daly cocktail which was basically weak unflavorful lemonade. Tips: Train your staff on real customer service, as well as your beer selection and add how to avoid making crappy cocktails (or if you don't know how, don't serve them at all!). So then the food, sigh,....we ordered pulled pork fries as an app, flavor was there (Rock n Rye sauce, yum), but we only knew that by the 4 bites of pork they served on top of the shoe string fries. Most of the fries were not covered in anything. Tip: At least put some more sauce on if you are going to skimp on the meat. I ordered the Maurice Salad, which is one of my favs, ingredients were subpar, could hardly pick up the difference in taste between a piece of turkey or a piece of swiss cheese. Everything was drowned in dressing. Tip: Put the dressing on the side and use better quality ingredients. He got the Traveller Burger which came on a hot dog bun (?), was overcooked, unseasoned and just overall boring. Tip: Listen to your customers cook preferences, use better quality ingredients, pick up a pepper grinder now and again. Our biggest and overall complaint is execution and quality. If your value proposition is 'organic farm' find a chef who can execute on that promise versus the cook you seem to have now. read more

The outdoor eating areas are extremely well-done, well-shaded ,and laid-out for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The Tap Room is my absolute favorite brunch spot in the Thumb! My family has been here many times and enjoyed every single visit. It's such a beautiful, cozy, casual place. Small dining room inside, but magically seating is usually readily available and the staff is so friendly & welcoming. I love their bloodies-they're spicy & what tastes/looks like a mix that is made with fresh tomatoes. The wonderful garnish and snacks on top were great. Most importantly, all of the food is 100% delish. We have tried almost the entire menu and haven't ever been disappointed! A few of my personal favorite - the steak frites, scotch eggs and travelburger. We will be back up for the 4th of July for a visit (or two!) where my kids will enjoy playing with the chickens and looking at the fresh greenhouse where most of our food will come from! read more

Went and had lunch today at the new tap room at Bird Creek Farms. We loved the atmosphere, and the doing area. You order your food and drinks at the bar, and they call your name when the order it ready. Also good to know that the tables are first come l, first serve. The view is awesome, I'll post a few pics along with my review. We had the traveling burger, french fries with truffle mayo dipping sauce (so good!) and some onions rings with wasabi mayo dipping sauce (delicious and not too spicy). My father-in-law order a Bloody Mary and some beer cheese soup and loved them both. The Bloody Mary was served with a pickle, artichoke, peppered bacon, olives, and a shot of beer. He ordered his 'not spicy' and loved it. There's bocce and corn hole games in yard for entertainment as well. Yes, it's new and they are working out a few tweaks, but overall they've done a great job and I'm sure it'll only improve. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in town. read more

Found TTR on Yelp prior to our first trip the Port Austin this summer. Arrived around 9pm on Friday night and were greeted by Scott. He made my wife, 4 year old daughter and I feel like we were visiting his home. We sat outside in the awesome bar area. Scott returned a few minutes after seating us, with a huge box of play dough which he let my daughter pick 3 containers of. Great idea to keep the kids happy! He told her that if she made something cool that she would get a prize later. He came back after we had finished our food, made a big deal of the turtle she had made and gave her 3 different treats. He also let her keep the play dough! She wanted to come back all 3 days we were in PA! Our server Nicole was also awesome. From a service standpoint this was one of the best we have ever had anywhere. The food and drinks were great too. We liked it so much we tried to come back the next day for the pierogi festival they were having but it was too busy and we couldn't find a place to park in the lot. We did come back for lunch on Sunday on our way out of town and had another great experience. They have created an awesome place here and obviously love what they do. Everyone who visits PA should check this place out, I don't think you'll be disappointed. I hope they have a very long successful run! read more

This was my first time here, but the second time for the rest of my family. They had a bad experience the first time, but wanted to give it another try since the restaurant is new. Unfortunately, they have not improved. First, the good: it's a nice atmosphere. I think the concept can work. Lots of people were there. The facility is very nice so long as the weather is good. The people seem very nice. That is about where the good things end. The bad: we had to wait standing in line for about 30 minutes to order the food at the register. They could dramatically improve things by just adding a sign that says "order here". Other people don't know where to go. It takes too long to order. After ordering we waited almost an hour before the food was ready. When our name was called I walked up to the window and was surprised at the food given. For the amount of money paid, it was very little! I felt as though I got half the food I expected. My mother's meal consisted of a slice of cauliflower and little else. HOW DOES A HUMAN BEING SURVIVE ON THAT? On top of that they messed up the order and we didn't get the side of fries for another 20 minutes. When we got those we were informed the truffle mayo was all out. My meal, the curry chicken tasted good, but was very simple and small. My 5 year old niece got the kids meal which had more food than any of us got. They also ran out of silverware. One complaint my family has is at the menu. This is advertised as an "organic farm". However, it is near impossible to get a vegetable that is not deep fried. My curry chicken I would have expected with brown or wild rice, not bleached white. My father jokes that he will need to take an extra statin pill tonight. For an organic farm, the menu is mostly deep fried fat. Despite my negative review, I like the atmosphere and think all of the above could be fixed. They need to improve the ordering method (maybe assign numbers and bring the food to you like other restaurants). They also need to improve the menu and give more food with each plate. We have been here twice. They have a good selection of beer on tap. They were cold and delicious. The food was good and the service was adequate. Both times that I have been here I had the beer cheese soup. The flavor was great but it wasn't even warm. In all fairness both times we were there it was right after they opened. I'm sure they have a big pot of it and it hadn't warmed up yet. The last time the waitress took it back and "nuked it". That doesn't quite cut it at a farm to table restaurant for me. Regardless there aren't many other good choices around and I am sure we will return next year. (My wife loves this place and would give them 5 stars) Update on 9-30-17. Went again for their October fest tap takeover. Again the beer was great but all of our food was lukewarm at best. This is obviously an issue for them. Stopped by bird creek farms to grab a lunch on a Saturday afternoon. After finally locating the hostess, we were informed that the wait for food would be 30 min or more, but could order a cold meal "picnic" box from the bar area. Headed over that way, met another young person behind the bar who took our order for 2 salad boxes with chicken added and a coney fry with cheese as an app. Instructed not to sit in bar area as we had ordered food. Went and found a table in the lower seating area, table was empty of people but not cleared of glassware. Sat and waited for approx 15 min before hostess asked us what we were doing sitting there. Awkwardly replied that's where we were told to sit. Ok.... waited another 20 min for salads and fries (sans cheese even though we specified). Salad was approx $13 dollars for teeny portion and one chicken breast, quite disappointing. Asked where to pay when finished, instructed to head back to bar to "close tab". Head to bar, young man never took down our name Relay to bartender what we had ordered, original guy who took order no where to be found. Discover that bill for 2 beers, 2 tiny salads and one fry came to $45.00 and some change. Gasp in horror and hand over money to pay bill, bar keep gives back completely wrong change. I swear no one there knew what the hell was going on! It was like the parents had left a bunch of kids to do a crappy job of running the place while they were gone or something. Won't be returning, super expensive, terrible service, unorganized totally. read more

I love the beer and the setting. It is a beautiful place to meet people and chat. My two star rating is because of the food. My first three menu selections were out. And my two of my four guests weren't able to get what they chose. It was 6:00 on Saturday and they had opened at 5:00. I wrote the manager for an explanation and haven't gotten a response. This is the second time this happened to us and as much as we want a restaurant that serves more than burgers, salads with iceberg lettuce, and fried everything I can't bring my guests here until it is managed better. I recognize it must be hard to run a seasonal restaurant but it would great if they figure out how to run the restaurant. read more

Some of the best places to eat in Michigan are Selden Standard in Detroit and the Mulefoot Gastropub in Imlay city. The food at the Tap Room is on par with both of those places which places it in a league of its own. My family and I shared The Cauliflower Steak, the Steak Frites, the Kale Salad, and the Breakfast Poutine. It's worth the two hour drive back to Port Austin to eat any of those again. The service is self serve ordering which is great as long as you expect that before you sit. The location is great right on a farm and the food could not possibly have been fresher of more delicious. High hopes but very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. We were seated even though we did not have a reservation, however the hostess made it clear they were doing a service to seat us. All the outside seating was open and the tables inside were only a 1/4 full. The drink order took about 15 minutes to arrive, after we sat for about 10 minutes before being greeted by the waitress. Our meal took a tremendously long time to arrive. The waitress did not come and check in us during this time, not even once. Our table had run out of drinks and water by this point. The food was subpar, fries were cold, grilled cheese was cold, chicken was bland, soup was luke warm and burger was extremely average. The waitress offered us drinks when she served our meal and didn't return with them until everything was eaten. However, the menu seemingly had a good variety of beer and wine.
