But consistently, Alan gets great review. MY experience was awesome. I reached out to Alan about 1 1/2 years ago. Told him I would like a quote. He came out..talked me through everything, surveyed the yard and came back with a quote quickly. I then ran into a financial situation and couldn't do the job. Alan waited 3-4 months and called me to check on me. No pressure...just seeing how I was doing. Eventually, my finances cleared and I was ready. Alan gave me a computer design and it looked awesome. We agreed on a start date and away wen went. Alan and his guys started the job on time. Alan always kept me in the loop and I never felt like he was ignoring me. The same guys showed up every day (consistency) and Alan was very involved. Alan fixed a BUNCH of stuff in my front yard that was not even in my contract. And DIDN'T charge me for it. He replaced a few plants that didn't make it when planted...for free. He revamped my irrigation system at a reduced price. Yes...I spent over $30K on the job...but he didn't nickel and dime me and really treated me well. But here is the most important thing..Alan listens. He is NICE. He is patient. He is responsive. He is calm. My dog escaped one day and Alan IMMEDIATELY called me and we found our dog. He didn't have to do that. I am currently going through a hard time with another contractor and I called Alan up and asked him for advice. He ALWAYS answers...or calls back....or texts. In this world of shady contractors and HORRIBLE landscapers (here's looking at you SGV), Alan is awesome. Trust him with your job. You will not regret it. Oh...and my re-design is beautiful. Just like the computer design. And I have more work on the way with Alan. Fire pit...outdoor kitchen. And no one else will be doing it except Alan. And I know he'll be there when I am ready.

After searching high and low for reliable landscapers who also had a design sense and would bother to call back over a small project, we went with Alan. As a designer myself, it was very important we went with someone who would pay attention to the details and bring new ideas to the table. Alan does that and more. He makes you as much a part of the process as you want to be. With our project probably being on the smaller side of his average budgets, we never once felt like we weren't the #1 clients. He took all the time to ensure we were in love with every aspect of our yard. We loved everything he did and feel it has added immense value to our small home, not to mention the insane compliments we get over it. Also I reached out to you on last Friday about the estimate as I didn't hear from you and you never said we serve first come first serve. So this company lies very well to make them look better. I met with 4 or 5 other landscapers to discuss our yard, and David and Al were the only ones who showed up ready to measure and able to talk specifics about what we could do. They were able to do a quick sketch right then - that really helped align our ideas with their suggestions. The work took just a few short weeks - killing all the weeds, leveling everything out - laying down mulch and drip landscaping for the selected easy maintenance low water plants, and just today the grass was installed. Veliz Masonry did a number of projects for us. Another project we had was to remedy an efflorescence-stained faux rock wall resulting from an ill-designed waterfall feature put in by the previous owner of the house in the front entry atrium. Otelio, the Veliz Masonry owner, contacted the manufacturer of the faux rock wall and discovered a staining method that could be used to bring back the original colors and luster of the damaged wall (see photos). They did an absolutely wonderful job of restoring the wall to its original beauty and we couldn't be happier with the results, which exceeded our highest expectations. Finally we had Veliz remove about 120 lineal feet of loose or damaged brick capstone off of retaining walls in our back yard and replace them with a high end Sonorastone flat wall cap (see photo). Again, Otelio and crew did a masterful job of installation to greatly enhance the beauty of our backyard. Otelio, his sons Manny and Diego, and his brother Gerry, were the crew who did all of the work. They performed in a highly professional manner and paid attention to every detail to ensure a super high quality job. Prior the starting the work they meticulously prepped the work area to protect against damage and were very conscientious about cleanup as the work progressed. They kept to the work schedule, showing up on time each day and putting in a full day's work with excellent communication throughout the duration of the project. It's refreshing (and rare) to find such a great contractor that is so attuned to the customer's needs. When we agreed on a date/time for him to come and give an on-site quote, he actually came on time, with a sample of turf, ready to go. I appreciate that. Once I got the ok from the boss (wife), he started the job that week and I NEVER HAD TO FOLLOW UP WITH HIM. He would be calling and texting me that he had a question or suggestion due to something we didn't think about at the time. The photos are actually 2 jobs. Job #1 - Backyard - turfed area & side dirt area. This was a HUGE TASK. The area was so un-leveled that we would have pools of water sitting there after a rainy day. It was IMMENSE to backfill the dirt and get everything setup for concrete/turf. These guys made quick work of it AND kept the area tidy after the end of each day. You rarely see that sort of attention and professionalism anymore. Job#2 - Front yard - new privacy plants & clean up After seeing the work Marcos did in the back, I didn't hesitate to start work in the front. If I thought it wasn't going to be done properly, I would have preferred to pay. When my family came to visit, the yard was NOTICEABLY poorly cared for. I WAS EMBARRASSED!!! Why? because they failed to mow or tend to the trees and scrubs . At the time I was in poor health yet and still I've had to trim trees and scrubs and still have to pick up what is CLEARLY BLOWN trash!!! He returned my call, talked to me about my plan, came out and measured and gave me a bid, had very fair pricing, and kept me updated on the start date. He also allowed me to meet him at the nursery to pick the plants/colors that I wanted for my yard. When Isaias and his crew started, it was a pretty quick two-day process. He and his crew were very responsive to my design ideas. I wanted a berm next to a dry riverbed to give the yard some texture. Yet, Isaias and the guys also added their expertise on things I would not have known to do and design ideas that increased the beauty of the landscape. The materials (bark, stone) are really nice quality. And they left everything clean and tidy. In the end I was happier than I ever expected. Now all I want to do is sit out front and watch the beautiful plants grow and the birds and lizards make their homes.
