So disappointed in this place. I left a very valuable item on the counter when ordering my contacts/glasses. They now say they don't have it, however the 2nd time I went in and asked about it, the first person said "Oh yeah", like she had seen it and when she looked to the other employee, that employee gave a slight head shake no, and wouldn't even look at me. There is nothing I can do but write this review unless I want to file a police report in order to access camera footage. Which, in fact, may be worth it. There are just so few honest people in this world anymore. It's so disheartening. Shame on you Walmart Vision people. Shame. I made an appointment here because they accept my vision insurance with Aetna. For a contacts and eyeglass exam, with my insurance, came out to only $40! Upon entering, they check your temperature and ask you a few questions. Then they have you fill out a form. The waits were very short before I was able to see the optometrist. Dr. Tartaglia was extremely friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. He reminds me so much of the famous Mr. Rogers, kind of vibe! I simply just needed an updated prescription because I needed to get new glasses that I had to wear for a week before I got lasik! Overall, I felt like everyone here was efficient and easy to talk to. Only complaint is that I don't understand why they have the inability to email you a copy of the prescription? They can only print it out for you physically or fax it. And you must get it at the same location you go to, can't go to any other locations, so its a hassle if you lose your paper, which I'm sure we all easily lose paperwork all the time. This is a new millennial, where we all have the ability to send a simple email. So get with the program please! read more

Dr. Leake accurately diagnosed a tear in my retina, last year. I was able to have it repaired and owe it to this WalMart Eye Center for a speedy diagnosis. I will be forever grateful. My girlfriend's optometrist tried to charge her extra for a measurement of pupillary distance. This measurement is easy, it's the millimeters between the pupils. My whole family comes to this location. We live about 20 minutes away, but it's not a problem. The customer service is excellent. The two lady's in front (blond and dark hair with blond) are very informative about the selection and are very detailed with the questions I had. The whole staff is a joy to work with. I've gone to the Walmart Vision center down in Chula Vista for over 10 years and never had a problem with their customer service-- professionalism, wait time (had to wait 15mins tops with an appointment scheduled but still no biggie). Now that I moved up north, the Walmart Vision center on Murphy rd is the closest to me so I thought, why not save gas/time? I called the office and it took me two tries to get ahold of someone. A lady answers and I informed her my situation, advised my vision care has changed since my appointment a year ago, and asked if it was accepted at their location and if it'd make a difference in payment. She said they accepted it and states, "Well yes and no..." re: my co-pay/payment. The lady didn't bother to explain further and sounded like she didn't have the patience to stay on the phone with me after this simple 2 min phone call. So I said thanks and hung up. I come to find out on my own that my new vision insurance is out-of-network and that I would have to pay much more out of pocket. The lady did not explain that to me at all. All she had to tell me was that my new vision insurance is out-of-network and I would have understood. She made it seem like it was fine. So I called back and canceled. So glad I didn't go. Lesson learned-- this is how scum bag places get ya! Do your research people! Don't expect these guys to assist you in Your favor. read more

I have received my second pair of glasses within a year, due to what I was told was required due to the change in my vision. I can actually see better without the new glasses, except for the bi-focal. I am taking my glasses back after Christmas. I have spent almost $1,000.00 and cannot see with Wal-Mart Glasses. I think I should be entitled to some type of refund or satisfaction guarantee. Will post again after my meeting with Wal-Mart. read more

I went in with my daughter for contacts and they didn't even know what my appt was for then wanted to reschedule the appt that was convenient for them i waited 3 weeks for this appt due to dr on vacation and my daughter is in college and they didn't want to do the training for contacts until another day not knowing if she even qualified due to her astigmatism. so i wasted time and wages of having to take off work and the dr wasn't even in his office. read more

They have excellent service. I have had them make at least 5 complex glasses with progressive lenses with ultra transition, scratch proof, anti glare, etc. Most of the times the glasses were not made correctly but I think this very common with such complex glasses. The real test is what do they do then. Walmart has always remade my glasses without any haggling until I was satisfied. read more

After several bad experiences at Lens Crafters I decided to ask a friend what Dr. she goes to and she lead me to Dr. Leake. Boy am I glad she did. Very friendly and looked to save me a buck or two. I was able to get an appointment for the same week and upon ordering contacts they arrived in less than 1 1/2 weeks. The staff at the vision center are always rushing about but the nice guy who helped me made me a loyal customer (tall, early 20's, African American). I was also able to purchase contacts here for about $40 less than I found them online. I suppose thats because Walmart purchased or now owns 1-800-Contacts. Either way, its a one-stop shop for toilet paper, groceries and contact lenses. Woohoo! read more

The cost is reasonable, but there are many reasons why you shouldn't go to this specific Walmart Vision Center. I never went to the Vision Center before, so this time I randomly needed an eye exam when I was shopping there. The eye exam went well! I decided to use my old glasses after I tried on many glasses and disliked them, so I just needed to get old lens replaced with new lens in my frame of glasses. 1. I complained that my vision was a little blurry while they told me to get used to the new lens for one week. 2. I also got my frame of glasses adjusted comfortably before I went home, but nobody told me it was already crooked. When I was home, I looked at the mirror and realized it was badly crooked. Totally disappointed. 3. I returned there again with my dad and we explained that my vision was still blurry and the frame was crooked. My dad kind of laughed when he received an explanation from the employee of Vision Center and he told me that it was their mistake to put lens in wrong sides of frame, like cross eyes. They fixed it and also adjusted the frame correctly a few times. 4. I felt like my frame of glasses was not the same before after it got adjusted many times. And yes, it looked off, but unnoticeable. I got a full refund because I totally deserve a perfect frame of glasses, not crooked one. Why I gave this two stars is because of their patience. And don't go to this one if you want to avoid problems like mine because I found out that one of my friends had the same experience! I wished I knew about it before I picked that place. read more

Free shipping on contacts and very fast for the exam! The only thing is that this center is NOT connected to other Walmart Vision Centers. So you have to drive back.. Update: I picked up my new glasses today and it took 45 minutes for the optician to try adjusting them. After at least 12 tries I was told, basically, that I don't know what I am talking about. I left the store with very ill-fitting glasses. The lenses touch my eyelashes, the frames sit crooked on my face, and I'm getting a blister behind my ear. So annoying and pretty much unwearable. Hopefully an optician somewhere else, one who knows what they are doing, can fix them because I am stuck with these glasses for two years. Original: I cannot believe such nice people work out of a Walmart, perhaps the most disgusting Walmart in the world, and that's saying something for a Walmart. In summary--Worst experience. This is my first yelp review; i never felt this strongly to spend couple minutes of my life to write a review. Optometrist: I made a same day appointment, which was good. A nice personable Optometrist helped me. BUT later i found out that the PRESCRIPTION WAS INCOMPLETE. I took it to different Optical stores (including Lenscrafters) and they confirmed the prescription to be INCOMPLETE. The optical stores contacted Walmart Vision center so that they can help me get new glasses/ contact, but THE PERSON WHO WORKED THERE SAID THEY CANNOT PULL OUT MY RECORDS WITHOUT AN OPTOMETRIST, which should not be the case. the other optical stores were surprised that they are causing the customer such an inconvenience by their lack of organization and improper management. Customer service and training of that Staff: After I came out of the eye exam and tried to work with a Sales associate to get my new contact lenses (my prescription changed, so i had to get both new glasses and contact lenses), she was completely uknowledgable. she had difficulty entering my insurance information, and constantly called out "OMG, what is wrong with this!" which is very unprofessional. I wore glasses for over 10 years, and the whole administrative process to bill me took 40min ( usually 10~15 min has been average for me).Also all of the answers from this sales associate started with "I think...", which showed she didn't know what she was talking about. At the end i was so frustrated, so i decided not to get my contacts / glasses there. I had this weird feeling that the Sales person may not have correctly filed her records, so i made sure i had a copy of my receipt.. And sure enough, I LATER FOUND OUT FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT THEY CLAIMED THAT I PURCHASED CONTACTS WITH THEM WHERE IN FACT I HAVE NOT. When we picked out some frames for my kid, I practically had to throw him into their arms to get them to check if the frames fit well or not. Hm, I thought. a.) Walmart Vision Center - Glasses - Optometrists Near Me - San diego, California

I went to the Vision Center with a prescription from my private optometrist who is not affiliated with Walmart or the Vision Center. I found the help very friendly and knowledgeable, but I would call first to inquire about non peak hours as they seem to be very busy. My glasses were ready in 12 days. They contain prisms, so you may get yours done quicker. I had new $60 bifocal prism lenses put in my own fames for $20 extra. I had an appointment with my optometrist the next day for a separate issue (dry eye syndrome). So I took my new glasses with me to have the prescription checked. Unfortunately they found the bifocal part of the lens was placed too high and the bifocal area was off its axis by seven degrees in both directions. NOT GOOD. I will return in the next few days to demand a redo. In fact, the staff member said if I wasn't satisfied that I could bring them back and they would upgrade to polycarbonate progressive trifocals using my $60 as credit toward new lenses -- which of course can be quite expensive. FYI, I doubt too many people will find bifocals satisfactory for computer work. The lines really get in the way. read more

I never would have thought to come to Walmart for an eye exam, but I don't have insurance right now, so I went with what was affordable. Dr. Leake is awesome. Super nice, professional, thorough, to the point. The office staff was polite, efficient, and when I was ringing up and wanted to compare prices for contacts through them vs. 1-800-contacts, they looked it up for me so I didn't have to. They definitely take customer service here very seriously, and every time I've been here (which has been wuite a few times lately as I'm getting my first pair of glasses ever) I've been here for a long ass time. I always see other patrons there for a while too, and it's because they really take their time with customers, even though they can get pretty busy. I've had a while to sit and observe the service that other people get here, and it looks like it's as good as what I've gotten. They optomoetrists are also pretty cool and accommodating; they've dealt with me twice when I would just pop-in because I was having a problem with the contacts I was trying out. We usually come here for eye exams and there's a reason. Dr. Leek is super nice and he really does a good job. See, this vision center is independently owned inside the Walmart. This is a major plus. We came to get my husband's eyes checked because we needed to use up the last of our flex spending account before it expired. We didn't have an appointment.They were booked but took us anyway in between other patients because of this fact and were just so nice. Not only that, the Dr. gave my husband three things of free lens solution because he's allergic to all the others and they had a glut of these ones. AWESOME! 5 stars all the way for the doctor and for the sales associates. They understand their product and have never thrown an attitude. It's nice to walk into an establishment able to get the help you need when you need it. The optometrists are top notch Dr T is definitely a must excellent with kids too ! They do not rush you on a decision with contacts at least they allow you to get a feel for the specific kind that is suitable for your eyes and if you have any questions they do not shoo you off they are willing to answer and explain things step by step. Bought some contacts from here a couple of months ago. I was ready to pay the full amount that I owed and the sales representative told me they accepted TRICARE and I only had to pay a fraction of what the contacts cost. A month goes by and I receive a letter in the mail stating that I owed the vision center more money because it turns out that they did not accept TRICARE. I went back to the Walmart to pay the remaining balance and they wouldn't take the payment. Told me I had to pay their company that deals with the insurance. I highly recommend you educate your employees on what insurance you can accept, because this is really annoying when I was ready to pay the full amount the first time I went there. As an active duty service member I do not have time to run around and figure out who I need to pay. read more

I received a post card stating "We miss you! 50.00 off a pair of new glasses!" So, even though I now live 15 miles away I got a ride to this Walmart Vision Center because I was told on the phone my prescription is on file..oh and "they miss me". This was 11:45 a.m. So first, the sales person can't get my name right to go check on my rx (it's right there on the postcard I took with me with the coupon, then she can't get my birthdate right, I had to tell her to write it down. She went in back and then comes out to tell me my prescription is expired so now I HAVE to have another eye test. Fine, I tell her. She goes to the back and now tells me since I'm a walk-in the first appointment is at 3:20! I turn around, go to the entrance of the Vision Center and ask my ride if we can hang around for 3 1/2 hours..she says, ok. So I spin around, tell the girl fine. She then turns to another girl who says 3:20 is booked so I need to wait until 3:40! Seriously!? The girl who waited on me seemed really untrained and confused from the beginning. I will NEVER get my glasses here again. Such a shame. Going anywhere else. read more

Leave it to me, always wait to the last minute to get my personal items in order. Today it was my eyes. Well, its been "today" since July and its now almost October. While I really do not like frequenting big stores like this, sometimes the convenience just makes sense. Particularly with insurance. However I digress. Long story short, I've been in need of an eye exam. I finally figured out what my vision insurance is and I just happened to look up at the sign here indicating they take my insurance. Fortunately for me I was able to get a same day appointment (and I was told its normally an uber busy location) and also ordered a years supply of contacts no problems.
