This Walmart is UNBELIEVABLY bad!! I'm living in the Plantation area temporarily and found this Walmart on Yelp. Yes the reviews were not good at all but there was an item I needed and I couldn't find it anywhere and this Walmart had it in stock. When u walked in, I noticed the "greeter" hidden in the corner on her cell phone. I walked past her and headed to the cosmetic section to get what I needed but when I got there, I noticed a huge majority of the products in the cosmetic section were locked up and inaccessible to customers. Either in a glass case or locked on the shelf with the red magnetic lock. Ummm okay. So that likely means there is someone working in the area that will unlock it for me. I looked around for the call button and found it nearby. After pressing it the first time, I waited about 10 minutes or so and no one came. Then I pressed it again...no one. Then I noticed other people gathering on the aisle that also needed items that were locked up. After waiting about 15 minutes, I started asking associates whom I saw walking around the store. One woman told me she was "off the clock" and kept walking and another associate came over when I got her attention but said she doesn't have the key. However, instead of her going to call someone to get a key, she went about her way. Then I walked over to another associate who told me to go to customer service. The woman at customer service said ,"I'll call the associate on the intercom and send them over there for you." So I went back to wait. Waited about 10 more minutes BUT no one came! I really needed this item and it was sold out EVERYWHERE. The item was RIGHT THERE within reach...I could see it, I could touch it...but I couldn't slide it off the metal piece because it was blocked with a lock!!!! Lol! So I went BACK to customer service and this time I spoke with a manager. I told her there were so many people waiting for items that are locked up and asked, "don't you think it would be better to have an associate there at all times?" Her reply was a very non chalant one citing something about the associate possibly being on break and maybe no one covered her...but in a super monotone, shrugged shoulders, unconcerned...unbothered kind of way. Then she grabbed a random associate and told him to help me. As me and said associate are headed over, another associate began beckoning him. He told her "I need to help this lady...hold on." But the employee ignored that and said to him, "BRO COME HEEEEERE!" He seemed tempted and paused as if he was going to go to her. I said "sir...please help me! I've already been here for way too long!" At that point, he began walking with me again to cosmetics only to not have to correct key so he had to leave me to go get the key. I literally begged him..."please don't abandon me." He returned within a few minutes. Here is the kicker and I'm CRACKING UP as I write this. He unlocked the item for me and handed it to me and I placed it in my cart and then he walked off and helped others. I looked at the item in my cart and thought to myself...they have the item locked up, I waited SO LONG to get the item that is so valuable that they kept it under lock and key...only for him to place the item in my hands and walk off. Wasn't he supposed to escort me to the register? Orrrr maybe hold the item for me under safe keeping until I got up front where I would pay for it because clearly I wasn't allowed to grab it myself. Because I might take it without paying right? But YOU can hand it off to me so that I can walk off with it in one direction while you go in the opposite direction. Like WHYYYYY are you putting in so much extra effort to keep these items safe only to hand it off to me JUST LIKE THAT...same as if I'd grabbed it myself and put it in my cart, no?!! No extra added measures to keep the item safe from me thieving it? Furthermore, if this store does have a problem with shoplifters then how about you utilize the HUNDREDS OF CAMERAS in the ceiling and in the aisles attached to the shelves. INSANE! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this Walmart. An employee approached me in an extremely rude and confrontational manner about parsley that was on the floor, assuming I had seen it and chose not to pick it up. She began criticizing and yelling at me without giving me a chance to respond. I felt embarrassed and disrespected. I tried to continue shopping but ultimately decided to leave because of how uncomfortable and insulted I felt by the interaction. read more

I love Walmart. My husband finds the store overwhelming and too busy for him, so most of the time, I am the one going in, while he waits in the car. Their selection of snacks is always good, large and well priced. This store is very nicely organized and well lit. If you are familiar with Walmart Supercenters, it's easy to find your way around, just by looking at the nice signs above the specific sections. I have never been a huge Walmart shopper. I definitely frequent their competitor that starts with a "T," but today I needed a specific product that I knew Walmart carried; so I stopped in. The parking lot was fully packed; and the store was full of customers. I also noticed that the employees were visibly busy restocking the shelves. There were workers with carts on just about every aisle I walked down. The employees were also very pleasant and many offered to help find anything I needed. I was even approached by a few workers inquiring if I had gotten my flu shot. When I answered yes, they handed me a complimentary box with snacks and coupons. When I think of Walmart I usually think of very long slow moving lines however they had several registers open and only two or three people in each line to check out. What really impressed me was that they had a young man named Gary with a mobile check out. He was approaching people in line and asking if they would like to have him ring up their items & bag them. All you needed was a credit or debit card and he rang up & bagged my stuff before it was even my turn in the already short line. I received my receipt by text while He was bagging. Gary's help cut my wait time down by at least 5 minutes, and he was extremely friendly & courteous as well. This service & Gary are definitely assets to this Walmart Superstore! I know everyone might not get approached by Gary; but there were many other reasons to be impressed with this Walmart Super-Center. They have so many products! They have everything you need for your meals, home, pets, and life. They also carry many items with their own brand-name, Equate, and lots of more obscure items that I have never seen in any other local grocery store or superstore. Prices were also amazing! (Much cheaper than my go-to grocery store chain.). Like I mentioned; I found a specific cheese there after visiting several other stores. And since the selection & prices were to my liking; I left with a cart full of items. I will be visiting this Walmart Super-Center much more often from now on! read more

Walmart usually has what I want a price that I'm willing to pay. But the entire WALMART EXPERIENCE is just so awful from start to finish. This particular Walmart was once pretty decent. But it's become a very disappointing dump. Today was a perfect example: I arrived at roughly 2:10pm on a Monday. It seemed like every shopping cart was in the parking lot. Most of them taking up parking spaces. I parked and took a cart. Because I knew that there would be none inside. I was correct. The carts aren't that old. But most of them have at least one wheel that seems to be square. Not round. This is a Walmart staple. Inside the store, I maneuvered around merchandise that was sitting in the isles. Pushed debris out of my way, and found what I was looking for. Then, to check out.... Two registers open with two lines backed way back deep into the clothing department. Self checkout was so long that it snaked around the corner and past the frozen foods isles. (Photo) I chose the self checkout because it seemed to be moving faster. But I'm not saying it was fast. It was so slow that I thought my frozen products might thaw out by the time I reached the exit doors. Once at the self checkout I was told by an employee "we got no bags!" Great. But i could see that a few customers that used the full service lines HAD BAGS. So it was just a matter of people being lazy and letting self checkout run without them. I proceeded to go to one of the full service registers and getting myself some bags. What the absolute Hell? This place sucks and no one seems to care. read more

I don't know if it's a change of management lately or they've always been like this and the rose-colored glasses are coming off, but this place is terrible. When I order from this place it's been an ordeal, and not the fun or rewarding kind. They mess up orders, they're lax with deliveries (what's the point of checking "I'll sign for my order." when they just dump all your stuff at the door, don't ring the bell, and drive off?), and their correspondence is awful. An item was removed off my most recent order, and not only was no substitution made (or even attempted), I wasn't told about it until about two hours after the cutoff time, so I couldn't even change it or add anything to the order. If you have a choice in grocers to shop, go for it. Try Aldi's or something. Because this place is only getting more incompetent and shoddy and it's really pathetic. Store number 1349 3306 N University Dr, Sunrise, FL 33351 Deeann. A cashier at this location Blatantly discriminated against me twice. As a young black puertorican woman, I had 18 items in my cart and went to get rung up at register 2 between the hours of 9:30-10:30 am. Out loud, rudely told me she will not ring up my items and that I had to go to another register since she will not scan my items if it is more then 20. Why and how would she assume I have more then 20 items in my cart by just looking at me and the cart vs actually taking the time to count. I told her twice that I had less then 20 items and there was no way for her to know if I have more then 20 items without actually assisting me, for her to speak me in a condescending manner and then laugh at me with *other customers about me and my situation is absolutely unacceptable, disrespectful and frankly Prejudice and makes me want to ensure no one I know shops here, another associate graciously took me to another register and rung up my items clearly seeing and informing I had less then 20 items. I was so angry i forgot to catch the helpful cashiers name. but beware if you go to this location, this was not the only disheartening experience i've had here. a week or so ago, a customer in the parking lot, was going against traffic and stole the parking spot i was clearly waiting for, when I confronted this person, they tried to fight me in the middle of the parking lot, completely lacking of etiquette and manners. Having to deal with the rudeness, and craziness of people to the bitter, unhappy workers here like Deeann. Its hillarious because there are 2 walmarts near me, I usually go to this one because its a tad bit closer to home and more items, but because of these experiences- I'll just go to the other one or stop shopping at walmart altogether. Kind of a meh Walmart experience, but then again when are they usually ever amazing? I stopped into a nail salon in a nearby plaza and realized the Walmart was right here. I needed a few groceries, so I figured why not run in. I typically shop at the Super Walmart located by Sawgrass Mills, my go to store seems to be kept up a bit nicer than this one. I considered picking up a rotisserie chicken for my husband, but they all looked super dry compared to the ones I get at the other Walmart. I passed. I never usually buy much in the bakery section of this store, but this one looked kind of sad and seemed to be lacking items. They did have a nice selection of frozen ice cream cakes and even ones from Friendly's! I love that this store and my usual one both carry frozen Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes, they usually run about $15-20. I always think it's nice that they have these, it's perfect to take to someone's house if you are invited for dinner! Be sure to check the expiration dates, I got to the self checkout and noticed my item had gone bad 3 weeks earlier. I'm just glad I noticed before I paid for it and brought it home. The lines were pretty awful for a Monday at noon. Even the self checkout was quite long and it took 3-4 minutes to get to a register. The regular checkout lines were even worse. The parking lot here was insane even on a weekday, so I can imagine it's nuts on a weekend. I felt like it's not big enough for the size of the store. read more

I do like the prices and selection. My complaint is the treatment of the employees. It's no wonder they are sad looking and unemotional. If I lived nearby I would be there a lot. My daughter purchased her first sewing machine in this store. I have fond memories of shopping here. I also remember being disgusted by clothing not made in USA. A scandal followed back then. Please Walmart supercenter is located in the corner of University Drive and Oakland Park. I have isited a couple of times before, as it has been here for as long as I've lived in Florida, which is about 20 years now. There isn't much that you can say about a Walmart they are all pretty much the same, employees are just there for a paycheck and aren't very helpful, and customers don't care so shelves are a mess. At this store however, I did see several employees putting things away and organizing shelves, which is a plus for a Walmart in my book. I always take notice when I see this. I also shop in their fabric department. It is something that I always do whenever I come into any store that sells fabric. The lady who there didn't know much about the fabrics themselves when I asked her if they carry a certain type of fabric, but she seem to be a hard worker and did her best to help me with my selections. At the grocery area I also saw a couple of employees putting things away in shelves, and I saw the meat department person fixing meats and actually rotating the product, which I was very impressed by. Overall even though this is an older store it seems to be a little better than the ones I have visited lately. Lines at the checkout counter however are always long and they never seem to have enough cashiers. This is a problem that is prevalent in all Walmarts not just this one. I placed an order for pick up at Walmart on University Drive in Sunrise, FL. There is nobody at pick up counter. I ask an associate for help and she says I have to ask customer service to get someone here. So I do the line at customer service and when it's finally my turn I tell them I need someone to help me with my pickup order. With the worst attitude she tells like we'll get someone soon. By the time I got my stuff I already spent 30 minutes in the store. It would have been faster to just get the darn item from the shelf and buy it. Avoid this headache. Just go Amazon read more

I went to buy Cat's Pride cat litter. The container was dirty and felt heavier than usual so I opened it up and looked inside and ALMOST threw up from the smell. Seems someone bought the litter, took it home, dumped out clean litter, refilled container with USED (pee balls and poop) litter and returned container and NO-ONE at customer serve looked inside when it was returned so they put it back on the shelf. That was the 2nd time as the first time I found it when I got home. I threw it away as I did not think anyone at Walmart would believe my story so I lost almost $10. Another time I checked containers before purchase and found 2 with used litter and I reported it to the store. This happened again yesterday. Whoever is doing this...a snake walks higher than you! And to Walmart's customer service people...OPEN up the top and check inside before you take back cat litter. Before I give my review of this store, I would like to make it clear, that the Pharmacy and most of it's employees with the exception of one person, are the only reason I step foot in this establishment, and they are completely exempt of this store review. The pharmacist, and all the pharmacy techs, are kind and respectful. They always greet me by name, they go above and beyond to help, and they all work so very hard. I appreciate all that they do! Getting back to my review of this Walmart, well, it's not good. Even before it became a Super Walmart, it was a dump, and now, it's a bigger dump. The lack of good solid management has been an ongoing issue for many years. The store is always in disarray, insufficiently stocked, and I'm talking years before this Corona Virus hoarding situation. Most( not all), but the majority of employees are blatantly rude, and act as if they're doing you a favor for just being there. They actually wear their name tags backwards, because they do not want you to see their names, as they know the chance of getting reported is very likely. Yet, management (if you can even refer to it as such), allows them to get away with it. Produce section is like a huge science project, and I could probably make my own batch of Penicillin from the mold growing on the cucumbers! Customer service is an absolute disgrace, and they are dismissive when having to deal with elderly, mentally challenged, or those who are on the Autistic Spectrum. Let's just say, I have experienced first hand as I have an adult son who is on the Spectrum. I once waited off to the side while my son returned something for me. With my own eyes, I saw them mocking him, making goofy gestures, and ignoring him while he tried to get their attention. Let me tell you, it was a whole different story when I came storming through that line to defend my son! Boom! They never imagined how it felt to be chewed up and spat out, but they found out that day! I can go on and on, but nothing has, or will ever change at this Walmart. This Walmart is always packed inside and out. I came here during their renovations and the parking lot was limited and so was the selection. After they finished with their renovations, this became a super center; it was super alright. When I do come, which is not too often because it's just too crazy for my liking, I park really far. I don't want people to hit my car and/or scratch it, which seems pretty common down here since I have a few dents and scratches on my doors since I moved down to Florida. They have a large food section and I love their women's section here. They offer many cheap and cute clothes. No shame here, I buy some of my clothes at Walmart. I love their workout clothes and yoga pants. I buy my whole crossfit attire here which is comfortable and suitable for my hardcore workouts. I really like Walmart because it's affordable! The lines are always long but I noticed on my last visit, they had quite a few registers open and they had self checkout which the line is longer there than the regular lines. In September 2016, I saw on the news that there was an attempted robbery in the parking lot and the person shot the burglar and killed him! That is scary and a bad omen, this actually turned me off from coming here. My brother actually drives a bit further just to go to the other Walmart. I tell people, watch your back and carry protection. I definitely won't be coming here at night. Overall, it's a good standard Walmart, too bad the crowd is kind of sketchy or else I would be here all the time. read more

For the most part this Walmart, during the Covid 19 quarantine, is doing a good job. But some employees, and I've noticed they are part of several Caribbean island cultures, SCOFF at social distancing! This is a South Florida problem I have encountered at other stores in The area (ahem LOWE'S). I had the same pharmacy/ Pet Dept. employee come within 1 foot of me in two different isles during my hour long visit. I asked him to social distance, and he gave an audible scoffing grunt. REALLY Walmart???? It seems you cannot impress upon you own employees how IMPORTANT it is to maintain social distance during this pandemic! This is the worst Walmart I've ever been in. First, the parking lot is jammed. Finally, I get a spot, run in to grab a brand of coffee I like. Then see that the self check out was lined up to the produce department. A female associate walked by and I asked her if she could get a manager to open more cash registers. She said there are registers open. I told her to look at how long the lines were at the 3 staffed registers (besides the huge line at self check out.) She said "Oh the manager is working a register already" and walked away: no help at all I saw a male employee stocking gum or candy by a closed register so I asked him if he could get a manager to open more registers. He simply said no. I asked him if I could come back and get my coffee in and hour or so if I left it with my name ( I teach a class in another business in that shopping center.) He said no,"It will get re-stocked." ( I wonder by whom, no one seemed to energetic in there....) I WILL NOT BE BACK. Even though I work in the same shopping center every week and it would be convenient: the employees aren't helpful, and the registers are understaffed. There is absolutely no customer service. I say go to Target! That's where I went after class and have nothing but praise for the employees there. read more

The parking here isn't the best. I always find myself parking in the back or driving around a good bit until I find a space. One thing I do acknowledge is that there are no shopping carts in random places like other Walmarts. They do a good job of keeping the parking lot clean and free of shopping carts. When you enter you may notice that this walmart isn't as big as other walmarts. It is a supercenter, but id say it's about 2/3rd the size of most walmarts. It has a tight feel when you walk through it. One thing to note is there is no auto center at this walmart. There isn't a place where you can get your oil changed or get tires. Other than that, it has everything else you need. This is the closest Walmart to where I live so it's the most convenient for me. I'll most likely be back in the future. read more

This Walmart is undergoing a renovation as they expand from being a "regular Walmart" to being a "Walmart Supercenter." As such, much of the the parking lot is roped off and there is much construction equipment about. However, my stop here was not for anything from the eventual food and grocery section. I got what I needed from electronics (a replacement Bluetooth ear bud). It was where it was supposed to be and I was able to pay for it quickly at the self checkout. Easy. read more

Between 9&10am at self checkout, Jennifer turned my husband and I were turned away because we had about 40 items in our cart, which is completely understandable. We walked away, discussed if we wanted to wait on a line or pay separately. We decided to pay separately being that we had two methods of payment. When we got back on line for self check out, Jennifer was quick to tell me again, 20 items or less in a very dismissive tone. I offered to separate the items in the cart so that it would be half and half, 20 items each for my husband and I on two separate transactions, on two separate registers. She told me i couldnt make two transactions out of the same cart, regardless of two separate registers. I asked why, as Im spending my money here I was confused as to why I was not permitted to take my own items out of my own shopping cart and pay for them elsewhere. I'm not sure what the difference is If I'm holding 20 items in my hands or in a shopping cart but she was determined. She offered a curt response and said "those are the rules not mine", then turned away from me in a dismissive manner to call the next customer. If there is a walmart clause that states only 1 transaction is permitted from one shopping cart please forward that over to me so I'm aware for future shopping experiences. I contemplated getting a second ahopping cart to fulfill Jennifer's request but her delivery of customer service was so rude that I proceeded to subtract the items from my cart, and held them in my hands to make sure I had 20 items or less, as Jennifer so diligently instilled. I began to scan them, she then locked my register so that I could no longer scan items. I only scanned about 6 items before she felt the need to prevent me from buying food. I finished paying since that was my only option, and helped my husband scan his remaining items. Jennifer then had a conversation with her co worker about my husbands shopping cart while we were scanning our items, right next to us as if we werent there. An older woman, on the shorter side, caucasian with a very short haircut. It was childish, I havent experienced someone gossiping in that manner since high school and thats where that kind of behavior belongs. Her conversation with a coworker who was also standing in line for what looked like to pay for her own personal items, was about how she was not going to let us finish our grocery shopping because she also locked my husbands register, then proceeded to aggressively show me her walmart phone where she was tracking the number of items my husband scanned, which was a total of 34 items when she showed it to me and told me I would have to shop elsewhere because she had control over the register. My husband would have had adhered to the 20 items or less policy of self checkout if Jennifer had allowed me to hold items in my hands from my own shopping cart, paying with two separate cards. I'm not sure what the difference is If I'm holding 20 items in my hands or in a shopping cart but she was determined. My husband then asked to speak to a manager, where she responded "go ahead". The manager was very kind and released our groceries from hostage right away, apologized for the inconvenience and let us go home. Im not sure if Jennifer is even her real name as she had a blank piece of paper covering her name tag that she lifted to reveal her name when my husband asked what her name was. All we wanted was to go grocery shopping early on a Sunday morning in an effort to have a relaxing shopping experience before the crowds arrive, and it was the worst experience I've ever had in Walmart. I don't understand what kind of person wants to withhold someones food from them. Maybe if I was trying to steal food I can understand Jennifers behavior, but I just wanted to eat breakfast. Im not sure if I want to come back here, but if I do I'll make to sure to have two shopping carts for Jennifer. I'd like to suggest moving Jennifer to another department or give her a day off, for her to be so grouchy and aggressive at 8am on Gods day of rest I'm not sure if customer service is the best place for her. read more

Let me preface this review by admitting that I would much rather shop ANYWHERE other than Wal-Mart. But that aside... This is the most half-assed WalMart that I've ever been to. It's like they wanted to build entire departments, but forgot. I've been to some small WalMarts before like this one, but at least they had a full selection of goods, not 8 feet of everything. We were in this one looking to stock up on food for the week, and ended up just walking away from our carts and going to Publix instead. Some examples of half-assed-ness: 1. Styrofoam Coolers, but no lids. "We're out" 2. Sandwich stuff (bread, etc) but no meat. Or Cheese come to think of it. 3. Coffee, but no creamers other than powder. I drove all the way from coral gables to the lauderhill walmart for a tv they told me they had. I got there after a long drive and of course they did not have any idea what I was talking about. I was so upset no one even tried to help me. So I came to this walmart on university and met the most knowledgable employee. He was so courteous he called a few stores for me and tried every thing he possibly could. His name was Elisha. I didn't get my tv but I left in a much better mood for getting treated so greatly. FOR THE ONLINE ORDER PICK UP ONLY I placed an order online for instore pick up. After choosing this location as my pick up location, I waited 4 days for all of the items to be ready. I was able to get a close parking spot in between the 2 entrances. The pick up counter is located immediately inside the right side (not the grocery side). Once there, they have a call button to press to signal an associate. I waiting only a couple of minutes before a pleasant woman greeted me and began to look for my order. I had my ID and the order bar code ready for her to scan. The whole process took about 15 mins from buzzing to leaving. Not to bad for my first time using this!
