I have had numerous experiences with Spanish speaking employees who pretend they don't speak English so they don't have to help me when I ask them for help. I was just shopping today for a new cell phone and other electronics two staff members ignored me when I asked to purchase the items. One actually rolled her eyes when I said, I do not speak Spanish, do you speak English! The other just ignored me and went back to chatting with her coworkers. Can I give a negative review? First the whole store sucks and is so overwhelming / uncomfortable. Either way, it's cheaper than target. I went to get a few things and the second I go to check out I have like three workers on my a*s telling me I didn't wait in line. This one older white lady SWORE I didn't wait in line and lied my way into the store. Meanwhile I had random workers grabbing near and at my purse to scan this weird thing as I went to scan my items. They said it was because they shopped for others so they got to cut me off as they "had to scan". The women was being belligerent and when I said "well can I get my purse?" She stormed off and said "I guess SHE will have to scan now!" And put her arms up walking away. A woman helped me and judged my every movement and look. Telling me I got something I shouldn't have, or judging me for an uneven amount of bowls. Meanwhile other customers were walking up to the self check out register I was at and getting in my space scanning their phones. I was in Walmart last night. Being that it was around the first of the month, June 2, most people know that people are shopping from their pay checks, retirement checks, welfare monies, etc. The store was pretty crowded and the lines were long. As a manager, why wouldn't there be more checkout registers be open, especially during the first of each month? Then, the employees aren't friendly. They don't speak to the customers, greet them or ask if the customers need assistance. Who is running this store? It's in need of better management. I am SOOOOO pissed off right now, I had a phone delivered to my house earlier today as my vehicle is in the shop and I needed to be able to connect with the outside world, and find out when my vehicle would be finished!!!!!!! To my surprise when the phone arrived I called Straight Talk to activate it but unfortunately the BIG BOLD LETTERS that state PHONE CANNOT BE ACTIVATED UNLESS SCANNED AT REGISTER were totally ignored. So what was the Friggin sense of me having it delivered when I couldn't even activate it. I tried for OVER 2.5 HOURS to speak to a Manager or anyone in charge. NO ONE except for a poor soul who kept getting my calls rerouted to him as NO ONE picked up the phone. I 100% understand that it is a Saturday and they are busy. But to be basically ignored and told I HAD to come to the store and have is scanned before it could be activated is TOTALLY UNEXCEPTABLE!!!!! Why did I even bother ordering it online and having it delivered if I had to personally go there and have it scanned. Tried to contact a Manager/anyone in charge to have a phone SCANNED and brought to me so I could have a way to contact anyone if I needed. If I wasn't an extremely lighthearted person I would've probably taken a bus/UBER to the store but while I was being ignored on Hold i was also setting up the phone. LOL So now I've basically set up everything except my Straight Talk phone activation. Well I guess I'll be spending the extra money on gas to go to the WARE store. Entire electronic dept is either on break or uninterested in being interrupted during their coworker convos. They also refuted what the website said in print, but didn't want to involve a manager. I would state the name of the main perpetrator, but he flipped his badge to protect his identity. So he values his job, just doesn't want to do it. My experience took place around 2:20p on 10/14. If Walmart is reading, please check the camera and tell me you see an active staff. I don't even want to shop online with Walmart now. I ordered something online last night, received an email saying it was ready for pick-up at the Walmart store on Boston Rd. in Springfield. I didn't know where the pick-up area was since it is no longer inside the store. Tried calling the store. First time, NO answer. Second time, No answer. Third time, a quick answer saying just...."hold please". I was on hold for 26 minutes before I hung up. Fourth time, No answer. Fifth time, someone picked up the phone, quickly hung it up. Sixth time, phone rang and rang, 32 times before someone picked it up and when they did they said, "Hullo, hullo, hullo??" They did not say anything else! I'm calling a business and all someone says when they pick up the phone is, "hullo, hullo, hullo"???? There was NO "welcome to Walmart, how can I help you" or anything identifying WHERE I was calling! It's a good thing I knew because the person answering the phone obviously did NOT!!!!!!!!!!! Do people get any training anymore as to "CUSTOMER SERVICE" or HOW to answer a phone in a business??? The manager there has NOTHING to be proud of, must be in dire need of bodies to work, not caring how it does or doesn't effect the consumer! read more

This is by far the worst Walmart ive ever been to. It is always filthy, you can bet on there being unstoked shelves, whenever i ask employees for help they either dont speak english and have to track down another employee for us, or send me on wild goose chases. The lines at check out at always, ALWAYS extremely long, there is no in and out in this place BECAUSE your going to be waiting in line no matter how much is in your basket. Usually only self check out and maybe 2 or 3 isles open. Its a joke really. Very off putting. You can always out on the deli food service area, seasonal entry area in the womens clothing department, and freezer isles to be a joke and complete mess. It became such an unpleasent exsperience to shop there in person we decided to try the Walmart Grocery App. (You compile a list of groceries, an employee shops for the items for you, you schedule a time to pick them up, and an employee packs them into your car for you.) We have tried this for several months now and i feel like i have a good understanding of what to-and to not order thtough this service. On one hand it is SO CONVIENT and a pleasure to opperate. On the other hand human error happens constantly. Our biggest failure yet has been i made the mistake of ordering 8 large packs of chicken breast. The quaility wasnt up to my admittably snobby standards so when we went to return the remaining unopened 7 packs - it was quiet the orderal. It took an hour and muliple people helping to figure out how to return items through the seperate Grocery App system. Eventually they refunded us, but only after we discover that instead of weighting each package of chicken since ita priced by weight- the employee scanned the most exspensive one and charged up that price for all 8 packs which ended up overcharging us like $10. I no longer buy mulitple packs of anything priced by weight. I also refuse to buy produce because they seem to purposely pick out the least appealing items to sell them. I once ordered 8 green bell peppers intending to use them for stuffed peppers and what i recieved were tiny and misshapened peppers. So i would say meat and produce your best still buying the in prerson, but it is extremely convient with all other items. read more

Walmart is not the greatest, most illustrious business in the whole world, but this one is significantly worse than others I've been to. First off, like other reviewers had mentioned, this place seems highly disorganized. The aisles are too small, rarely is there enough room for two carts to pass one another, especially in the clothing, home goods, and beauty aisles. Things are haphazardly strewn about, with no mind as to whether or not it's the actual place it belongs. For example: I was looking for clear heat lamp bulbs and was unable to find them. After asking an associate whether not they had them, she first told me she didn't know what I was talking about. Second, she told me the general area where it should be, and if it wasn't there, they no longer had them. Didn't matter that I had already checked online that this product was available at the store. After scrounging through several shelves, I found the clear plant lights shoved way in the back, behind some other types of bulbs, with the Spanish translation of the box facing forward. How is anybody supposed to find something this way? It seems to be the general demeanor of the employees of this particular store is unhelpful and unfriendly. I'm sure this isn't their normal attitude, they must really hate working here. Every employee that I've asked a question of had no idea where the product would be or if they had it. I get vague directions as to where it "might be", but nothing more. There are better Walmarts, though unfortunately, none nearby me. My advice: do not go on the weekends, or after 5 PM on the weekdays. It's far too crowded, the lines are excruciatingly long, and the entire shopping experience becomes very tiresome. If you're able to go during the day midweek, things are a little bit less chaotic, and assuming you know where to find what you're looking for, you can be in and out without much to do. read more

This place is a DUMP, even by Walmart standards. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of Walmart to begin with, but given how cheap it is I'll usually just pinch my nose and deal with it. However, I'd rather pay double the price for my food, furniture, and electronics than come to this one again. The earlier reviews were pretty much spot on. The store's a mess from all of the dirtbag customers tossing merchandise all over the place, the employees seem like they couldn't care less (I suppose I don't blame them -- I'd be pretty jaded if I worked here too), and you constantly feel like you're going to be pickpocketed, robbed outright, or like someone's going to steal your hubcaps while you're in the store. Cleaner than it used to be but selection is down. The recent "remodel" which seems like moving aisles and improving the lighting, helps the store appearance. Thankfully they separated the money order/bill pay center from customer service and now doing a simple return takes very little time. However part of the problem with this Walmart is the customers- they pick something up and put it down wherever they want. Or they open a food product, eat it (steal it), and tuck it somewhere on a shelf. I'm sure it's impossible to keep up with the clutter left by customers 100% of the time. The Chicopee Walmart didn't have this same problem up until the past couple of years, probably because some of the Springfield customers have started going there. My biggest disappointment, as mentioned before, is the selection. Especially for any of the more natural products. Chicopee still stocks Ecos and Seventh Generation cleaning products but Springfield has stopped carrying them. Their electronics selection is a little better but nothing is specialized still, you're going to find rather generic options from the major brands. The checkout issue is across the board for any city based Walmart. I've been to them in many states and if you expect to checkout quickly you should probably not shop there. The only way to really quickly checkout at a Walmart locally is the Westfield one, which has self-checkouts but then again you're going to be traveling out of the city, 20 minutes from this Walmart. If you visit before noon you're in luck here but otherwise don't expect to check out quickly, and maybe you'll be surprised if you do. Would have been three stars for the remodel and for freeing up customer service for actual customer service needs, but cutting selection brought it back to two. read more

Walmart is known for their inexpensive products. But did you know they will sell used products AS NEW, with no warning or discount to the customer??? I purchased a full motion TV mount obviously something they took back and did not check. The unit was missing pieces and obviously used with sheet rock units in the box from where it was ripped out. They sold this item at retail cost and then would not accept the return. From now on Walmart is no longer a store I will shop at. Their manager Chris was extremely insulting and denied it was used when I purchased it. I assure you it was. And now I am out over $100 on an incomplete used piece of junk. Buyer beware!! read more

I went here a few months ago to buy a crockpot and I had noooo problem finding the one I wanted since there was a display of them in the center of the store. The grocery section was large, but I found the prices to be more than I pay at other stores where I shop. I did pick up a few items like Red Lobster biscuit mix and 1 million flavors of drink mix. They had a huge selection of diet juices, which made this diabetic ultra happy. The customer service here is strange, which is why I docked a couple of stars. The cashier called for a price check and no one ever came, she wandered off to find some help. then she came back puzzled and still had no idea. My nephew could not get what he wanted and that was pretty disappointing. Overall it was an okay experience, but I like other locations a lot better. read more

This is one of the WORST Wal-Marts ever that ive been too, while visiting this city I forgot my swim trunks and I wanted to utilize the Hotels swimming pool so I came to this Walmart . June 30,2018 I called Walmart on Boston Rd Springfield Ma. an asked about the procedure on using a replacement check I received from Walmart Careplan insurance which is the warranty for a television that I purchased at Walmart. The store put me on hold for 20 minutes. While waiting for someone to pick up I decided to call the Chicopee store at the same time since I had been on hold over 15min. The Chicopee Store answered and the manager answered the my question while I was on hold with the Boston Rd store in less than 5 min. the Chicopee store resolved my issue while I was still on hold with the Boston Rd store which I hung up at 19:55min which was how long I was on hold. It is really unbelievable the Boston Rd store has such low customer service. It takes me 10 min to go to that Walmart but my experiences have never be good. So I travel 30-45 min to one with gives respectful service read more

I have read the other 2 reviews for this store and sad to say...after this many years it's still the same. Theye never have anything in stock, including shampoo, and it's always dirty and unorganized. The employees are the worse ever. They never have anything I need in stock or on the shelfs. Looking for an employee on the floor is like pulling a tooth. And if you find someone they have no clue on how to help you. I had a great experience at the Walmart Vision Center on Boston Road in Springfield Massachusetts. I came in with an eye infection and Dr. Shawna Andrews was very attentive and caring about my problems. She took the time to get all my information and all my issues and helped me figure out my health insurance for the exam and for the eye glasses prescription. When I was having trouble paying for my medicine because my insurance wasn't covering it, she took the time to come over to the pharmacy and look for other similar medicine that I was able to afford. She also set up free of charge follow-up appointment with me to make sure I was getting better from the medicine. The staff at the office were very friendly and understanding. The optician William S. answered all my questions and addressed all my issues pertaining to my glasses. When I came into the store I was basically in tears from frustration with my eyes and when I left I felt happy because I knew everything was going to be okay. read more

I ordered several items online and this was the closest store for pickup.I got the emails that all of my items came in so I figured I would stop on my way into work. That was a big mistake, I waited for over 2 hours and never got all my items! These people actually expected me to wait longer for them to get their act together and come up with my items? ( yes I had my photo ID and all my paperwork) I finally had them cancel the rest of the order and refund the money to my credit card.
