    La Glam Consignment Boutique

I have been coming to this consignment boutique for 10 years. I shop here every December when I…read morecome to town to visit for the holidays. I was worried when I read previously posted, negative reviews about new ownership. I have to say my experience today was radically different than what the negative reviewers indicated. I was warmly greeted by the owner (but not hassled...just greeted and left to shop as I wished) and took about 45 minutes to look around (could have stayed 2 hours were it not for a time crunch on my end). There were TONS of really great pieces from luxury to mid-level brand labels at VERY reasonable prices. The tags all indicated what the price of the item was when it was new (I cross checked a couple on line and they absolutely added up), the price of the item that they were selling it for and then the discounted price of the item if it had been at the shop for a while (example: after 11/25/23, my jacket dropped 20% in price). Case in point: I had been coveting a Pendleton wool jacket that I found used on Poshmark for $325. I got the same jacket in MINT condition today at La Glam for $76. Shoe selection is particularly good. This is not a Goodwill. If you want luxury brands at reasonable prices, this is your spot. I highly recommend!

I really miss Mimi. She was great with everyone when she ran the shop. If the price tag date was a…read morecouple of days early and you wanted to purchase it to get the discounted sale price, Mimi would honor that. Her selection of clothing and other merchandise for sale in her shop were very well chosen (timeless, classics, vintage, hip, trendy etc), on her part. Mimi was a class act! I was sad to see her move. But hopeful the new owner would continue with the great quality of style and fashion sense. Only to be disappointed, VERY DISAPPOINTING! The new owner can be somewhat rude at times. And the selection of clothes and items are not so hot anymore. She is kind of greedy. My experiences with her have not been so great. And the new owner moved and where she moved is awful....hardy any parking spaces and everything is packed so tight, it's hard to shop. The new shop is extremely smaller in size and the set up of the store in general was unorganized. Merchandise was clump together tightly packed, doesn't flow and it just seemed cluttered and some merchandise not easily accessible at all. The new owner should not have moved, BIG BUSINESS MISTAKE. I think she hurt herself by moving. So many people I have chatted with are very disappointed by her move as well and how she treats people poorly. Mimi had a great successful popular shop and the location was perfect. Wished new owner didn't make so many changes. If the wheel wasn't broken why fix it or make so many unnecessary changes. This is the second shop for this new owner. Her first boutique failed and it use to be right next store to Mimi's. After her first boutique failed, her and Mimi worked out things where she (the new owner) would take over and be the new owner at Mimi's. Some changes were fine. I get the new owner wanted to eventually change the name of the shop and make some changes, but moving was a big mistake. She also needs to treat all her customers nicely with respect.....not just a select few. May 2026

Because I have worked with Shades on Wheels so many times, I wanted to write a thoughtful review,…read moreso sorry if it's long! The best shades and blinds are found at Shades on Wheels which serves towns on the South Shore of Boston and in other areas of Massachusetts and Connecticut. Barbara Thomas and Shades on Wheels bring the showroom to you! She makes it so easy. Don't waste your time searching other options. Barbara is your gal for residential and commercial custom shades and blinds installations. There is simply no debate. When Barbara Thomas came to my houses and place of business for window covering consultations, she always made suggestions that only someone with her expertise can make. They were things I never would have thought of. Barbara showed me options from her sample books, laser measured to microscopic accuracy and ordered from the best window treatment vendors in the world. Each and every time I have used Shades on Wheels, the installations have been flawless. Not only were her professional installers lightning fast, but so neat and tidy I hardly knew they were there. All of my shades and blinds perform perfectly and I get tons of compliments. It has been completely stress-free and absolute pleasure working with Shades on Wheels and Barbara Thomas. Decades spent in the shades and blinds business has earned Shades on Wheels the elite status of being a Hunter Douglas Priority Dealer and the prestigious Hunter Douglas Certified Kirsch Diamond Award. It's no surprise. She participates in all the webinars and trainings offered by her premium vendors, has been the Best of Houzz every year since 2016, and received Angie's List Super Service Award. Barbara knows her product better than anyone else around and is not someone who just jumped into the custom blinds business. Shades On Wheels sells and installs custom window treatments like honeycomb blinds, motorized shades and blinds for skylights and windows, roman shades, woven wood blinds, wood blinds, interior wood shutters, plantation shutters, vertical blinds, mini blinds, roller shades, sunscreen shades, cellular shades, pleated shades, sun shades, blackout shades, horizontal blinds, modern and traditional draperies. Too many to name! As are the manufacturers she works with like Hunter Douglas, Graber, Horizons, Lafayette, Landmark, Levolor, Kirsch, Comfortex, Carole, Castec, Robert Allen, Norman, Worldwide and more. Everyone wants to work with Barbara. The last thing I'll say is about DIY shades and blinds. Maybe you're thinking of purchasing and installing shades or blinds yourself. Good luck with that. First of all, the measurements have to be precise, and by precise I don't mean to the quarter inch. Windows, skylights and doors don't fit into perfect, geometric openings to begin with, and structures shift which of course changes the corners causing the angles to skew. The word "custom" means done to order according to specific measurements and needs, therefore all shades and blinds are "custom." You buy and install "custom shades and blinds" because you are fitting them to your windows. Shades on Wheels goes so far beyond "custom" we need to invent a new word! So, go for it! You won't regret it.
