PSA: Spanaway walmart is completely ripping people off. On May 27th my husband went to customer service to return almost 50$ worth of baby clothes that were size premie which we didn't end up needing, the man at customer service gave him a slip that had all of the items on it and the price for the return, since we couldn't find the receipt. My husband was told to bring the slip (the associate said it was a gift receipt) back to customer service with the clothes we wished to swap out whenever it was convenient and took the returned clothes and put them on the counter behind him. Today was the day we decided to go into walmart with the receipt and get the clothing we were owed. Little did we know that the apparent slip the associate gave us meant nothing. As far as we knew that slip was good for 50$ worth of baby clothes. The young man at the counter didn't understand so he went and got the assistant manager, the manager named Sudeep approached us and asked us "what the hell we were trying to pull" insinuating that we were trying to rip them off. Why would we have this piece of receipt that had all of the returned merchandise and the total amount it was returned for if we didn't return Anything? Obviously very frustrated we told the manager he needed to figure it out because either they owe us the money or need to honor what the original man told us. The manager proceeded to curse at us and asked for our information which we gave, then when he had the information written down he began quizzing us on the information written down like we had given him fake info. As the situation got worse the manager continues to curse and yell at us in front of our 6 year old daughter and told us to get out of his f'ing store. We happily obliged, and loss prevention was apparently called and waiting for us and checked all of our other bags and receipt as we were leaving. All of this because either there associate wasn't properly trained or because the associate did the return and pocketed the money on the date May 27th when the so called gift receipt was given. I cant believe we were treated like criminals when all we were trying to do was exchange for different sized clothing. We normally shop here all the time but that won't be happening again especially after they took 50$ and we were verbally attacked by the assistant manager. Moral of the story, don't trust any piece of paper they give you when returning a product unless it's cold hard cash because they will rip you off. read more

Your online "inventory" for a store never matches what is actually in a store. If I'm ordering to pick something up today, I want to pick it up today. Not be told you're keeping my money and forcing me to wait a week to pick it up. This is the only time I'll ever order from Walmart again. I also don't want to drive to a store that says they have something in stock only to get a blank look from an associate. I can get the same product, for the same price tomorrow from Amazon. Instead, I have to wait on you. Failure. Huge Failure. read more

My one pet-peeve for going to any store that calls itself a "Supercenter" is not having commonly purchased items on salesfloor. We have been here three times over past month, shopping for groceries. All three times we were disappointed to find eggs, juice, yogurt and bread out of stock on salesfloor. At first we thought maybe it was time of day that we might have came after a rush, but even alternating when we visited between peak or slow times doesn't seem to affect the stocking. We also noticed the checkout lanes tend to be pretty messy and out of stock of gum, candy etc, which is the last thing you see before leaving. One of the main reasons most shoppers choose "Supercenters" is because they hope to do ALL their shopping in one place, but they can't if the store isn't stocked well. On a lighter note, there are tons of cashier checkout options at this location, so you can pay for your purchase relatively quickly. The cashiers were pleasant enough and thanked us for our visit. read more

What peeves me about this Walmart is they sometimes have "Check Point Charlie" at the door like Costco but these guys are only there to waste your time. It's Walmart people. I found practically everything I was looking for with very low prices I'm ok with that. Expect, with the eggs. With advertising on the top the ad says it's 1.08 for a dozen No where on the shelves were any eggs was listed at that price. If you're going to advertise it then check on your shelves. When checking out, This is what I don't understand. One, it's a Memorial Day weekend and there's only hand full check out resister's are open? Cashier rang up the guy behind me on my bill and the kid riding around on the floor cleaner was blaring his music so loud you could hear it through the entire store. Very clean and well stocked store. That's about the only good thing you can say about this store. Majority of the staff are useless, no product knowledge, don't know where an item is (there are a few exceptions of course). But the worst part of this store is the checkouts. Three checkout counters open and lines of 7 to 10 people in each line. These are the people with full carts and can't use the self checkout very easily. Not to mention the self checkouts full with about seven people waiting in that line. Most of their checkout people are slow and don't know how to bag very well. The only thing consistent about this store is that 99% of the time there's always a theft prevention person standing at the door watching everyone, and checking your bags at Xmas time. I've said it in the past, but I'm done with this store for good. I'd like to take back the one star, but yelp won't let me go any lower... read more

Optical Department, Two Thumbs up. 1st time visit, made my appointment at 10am on a SAT.??? for 11:30 the SAME DAY... wow. The gals, all three of them today were busy.... BUT super nice, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and courteous. I lost my eye doc due to insurance change and Walmart is approved..I drug my feet on my over due eye appointment, knowing full well I was in need of a checkup. The eye doc {{woman}} (Sorry I am bad at names) was really nice too..she chatted a bit and not just about the exam. Very much a great experience today. The Walmart store, is pretty much as the other reviewers stated. My thoughts are this, the slow checkers, lack of checkers is clearly a management failure to train and manage. BUT, prices are low... you get what you pay for. But pay a bit more and shop at Winco, or Safeway, or Albertsons. You decide you choose. read more

Now that the South Hill location opened up this one isn't too hard to get out of when you're done shopping. Although for some reason even though they have like what... a bajillion lanes they only keep 2-5 open most of the time. Most of the time the worker's are fairly helpful.... stay away from the "Outdoors"/"Hunting/Gun" section though, I don't think they know where any of their product is, that is... if they even know what they sell back there. read more

The photo machine ran out of paper and the associates didn't know where there is any extra paper for pictures. They also lost my pictures. On top of that I had to wait over an hour to Get my other pictures. No one ever answers the phone in this department. read more

If I could leave zero I would. I live very close to this Walmart so I visit almost on a daily. You know cheap house stuff, pet needs, kid stuff or what have you. I spend alot of money at this "store". If it's not bare shelves (even before covid) or the endless yellow shirt sloths standing around doing absolutely nothing but staring at you, with attitude while you check yourself out. If you try to return something even with receipt they got attitude. I don't want my money back in 2 days. I want it now. You didn't wait 2 days to take it out of my account. The 2 times I did have to use their "money center" I have to walk around and search for someone to come to the counter to help me of course with attitude. I mean I get it. I would hate my life to if I had to work at Walmart, but you chose that life. It wouldn't hurt if the staff washed their yellow vest thing either. Do better Wal-Mart. Never have enough checkout lanes open. ALWAYS long lines with minimal workers. The store needs to staff more cashiers during peak hours. Always long lines and not enough workers. Got tires today and was in for a couple surprises! To begin with, my car sat for almost 45 minutes before anyone started on it, even with 5 employees in the Tire Lube Express on a Friday afternoon with only 1 customer before me! Then, an hour and a half after they wrote me up, I found out they CHARGED ME A TIRE DISPOSAL FEE, even though I took my old tires home with me! VERY SLOW, AND OBVIOUSLY DISHONEST. I will NEVER have tires replaced here again! I'll buy them and take them with me to have Tiny's Tire mount and balance them like I did with 2 previous cars! Tiny's doesn't charge for something they don't do! BUYER BEWARE! LOOK AT YOUR WORK ORDER BEFORE YOU PAY, especially if you're taking your old tires with you! And do NOT go if you're in a hurry or have other things to do! They FORCE you to purchase new valve stems too, which is NOT any requirement. Believe me, I've worked in auto repair shops and gas stations half my life, and WE never made tire customers buy valve stems if they were fine! Oh, another thing these people do in TLE is NOT let you pay until they're done changing your tires, and won't give you a TRUE, HONEST QUOTE! THIS is how they get away with adding hidden fees and charges! To end this whole nightmare, they checked my hundred dollar bill to make sure it wasn't counterfeit... AFTER they had my name, address, phone number, license number and car's VIN!!! Yeah, good time to pass fake bills! LOL! Only reason I gave them TWO stars was they had the exact tires I wanted in the correct size for cheap! read more

I bought tires here at Walmart about 3 to 4 years ago. At that time Walmart had good warranty on tires which made me choose them over Firestone, Les Schwab, and Costco. However, coming to the present- I had damage on one of my tires (the ones I bought 3 to 4 years ago from Walmart) where it had to be replaced. I have an all wheel drive vehicle which meant I had to replace all 4 tires. Walmart no longer offers anything to keep piece of mind and I was surprised that Walmart gave me only one option- replace all tires at full price even though I had purchased my tires with hazard warranty. They were able to discount the tires by the difference of the tread. But not even 2 weeks later I had another flat. I took my tire to a different shop to get it repaired and they recommended I talk to Walmart about options since I purchased the tires from them. This time Walmart offered a new tire at full price. After speaking to the manager I could get 10% discount. My expectations where that they would replace the tire since it was brand new. Eventually after the manager spoke to their manager the price was discounted 50%. So in 2 weeks I purchased 5 tires and use only 4, without any pice of mind for future incidents. I will not be returning to Walmart after this. I recommend others purchase tires elsewhere where they offer some type hazard warranty, customer care, and stand by their word. In the future I will go somewhere else. I no longer want Walmart to steal my money. The technicians themselves were nice and honest, but it's the company policy to make customers buy new tires all the time. read more

I was absolutely A palled with the lack of professionalism. Three hours wait for them to work on a wrong tire! It seems like the blind leading the blind in that store! I wouldn't take a bicycle tire there to have them air it up!!! You lost out on a $1100 sale for new tires. I went right down the road to Les Schwab and under 45 minutes I had a new set of tires all the way around my truck. The waiting room was disgusting and filthy!!! This is review is for the Vision Center. Carla was who helped my dad pick out his glasses, Carla is an absolute sweetheart and tried several transitions provider lens options to help us find the best price. She was kind and also funny, took good care of my dad. Unfortunately her manager, Maria was very unprofessional and would interrupt her helping us to talk at her about things like laundry and schedules , things that could have waited. There were 3 people working in the vision center total . Two were talking to the UPS man and doing some other task while Carla helped . Carla was the first to greet us and out of the three was the only answering the phone a majority of the time . I'm disappointed in Maria and the fellow associate but I was very pleased with Carla's service . Thank you Carla . read more

I've lived near this Walmart since it opened. I am now officially on strike and will do all my shopping somewhere else even if I have to pay more. I've come into the store 2 or more times a week through the same entrance it opened...but you need to check my receipt every time I leave? Umm ya However, I only get to leave after spending 20 to 50 minutes in line...if I buy more than 10 items. It's only a 15 minute wait in under 10 lane...if you don't have another frustrated shopper in front of you with 30 items deprecated into 3 transactions. I have complained to management and corporate. The usually have no more than two lanes open..and you can always find the managers (at least 3) doing nothing in customer service area or i find them talking about their weekend plans down the coffee isle. You ask them to open another register and they look at you like your asking for a human sacrifice. I walked out of the store tonight watching 18 people with full carts stand in the one open lane. They were literally screaming and yelling for someone to open another register to no avail. As the three managers in customer service pretended not to hear them or see the line that went all the way to the produce area. Walmart prices are not low enough to treat customers like poo...and act like we should like it. Get new management...put in self checkout lanes (or actually open another registered two-without customers having to demand you do it)...get your people trained on how to treat customers. Don't whine to me (like the last manager i talked to did) about "keeping costs down by keeping staff to a minimum" when you have 18 people in line with $100 or more in each cart and your barely paying minimum wage. I live right next to it so I go there often and every time I do I run into problems. The customer service is horrible, employees need training and their lines take forever. I was there last night and there was and $1 section for stuff like pencils, notepads etc. I grabbed two coloring books for my Nephew before checking out. But when she told me the total it didn't add up. Found out that the books actually costed $5 I told her the price is either wrong or the sign is she argued with me saying she stocked that section and that's where she was told to put the items. Didn't even apologize just said "that's the way it is" I got my refund bc those pages were like 7 pages long. Not worth $5 smh. The girl employees are always checking me out like were in mean girls or something instead of trying to provide great service.. I've been in this Wal-Mart maybe half a dozen times since I moved to Spanaway. The first time my cashier (young guy, fresh out of the Army) was super nice and friendly. We chitchatted about both being recent transplants etc. It's all gone downhill since. The one time I actually came in for groceries, the cashier rolled her eyes and grumbled at me when I handed her my stack of coupons. It's not like I was fishing them out of my pockets. I had plenty of time to organize them during my 15min wait in line. Last time I was there I was looking for cold medicine. Asked an employee where the Vicks was and she said, "I'm not on the clock so I could get in trouble, but I'll show you." Whaaaat?! So why was she still wearing her vest?? She made me feel guilty/dumb for just asking a question. Terrible customer service. Always long lines without enough registers open. I'll be back if and only if I need desperately something after 11pm when the Fred Meyer down the road is closed. read more

You don't expect much customer service from the start but today they had me waiting 20 mins just to shake some paint because they needed to find someone and then once they finally tracked a person who can do it, it took like another 15 minutes of waiting before I just left and went to Home Depot. The employees aren't the problem but lack there of. Walmart could really be something a lot better if they weren't so concerned about making billions of dollars in profits rather than giving opportunity to more people to work there. Horrible customer service. Went there looking for an AC, I had called ahead to see if they had any in stock since it said "limited supply" online, the guy on the phone said they had 6 left and that they would hold one for us back in hardware. I traveled all the way there got to the hardware section and the guy was all over the place. So we just asked where we could find AC's, he told us the front of the store and aisle 18, let me remind you the aisles are alphabetical and also numerical (example; A18, B18) so that didn't make finding them any easier. We went to the front and saw 5 of the same air conditioners that were to big and none others around. We sat at customer service for 10 minutes and then were led to the same air conditioners we had already seen and told they had never heard or seen the air conditioner we called in about. Walmart need to keep track of their products and also train their employees at better customer service. If you're looking for a product you're better off sweeping the whole store than going to ask someone for help. Oh and with a store that has 34 check stands only about 7-10 of them are open regularly, hope you enjoy standing in line. read more

I had the best walmart experience today ever I went and bought the $37.98 large pink plastic child's pool with a slide attached. I bought tie downs inside because I was unsure if it would fit. A very nice walmart associate helped me to check out when there was no way I could have put the monstrosity into a shopping cart. Then another guy came to help me load up, Tyler. He was very helpful, not only did he help me carry out the pink monster but he helped me to tie it down to the top of the van with the kids bouncing inside it. He dealt with the horrible straps I bought and helped me out going above and beyond the call of walmart duty. But also he had a great personality and outlook while doing it. I thank you Tyler and thank you walmart for hiring an awesome dude like him! read more

We used to frequent all 3 Wal-Marts Lakewood, Puyallup and here. They all suck honestly, they are never properly stocked, I don't reccomended ordering anything and shipping to the store and not the best customer service. If I had to choose I would pick this one. Its cleaner, less crowded and staff is usually more friendly compared to the others. We dont do our major grocery shopping here, stick with fred meyer or safeway. If your coming here do not be in a rush, they never have enough lanes open and self check out is usually backed up too. Puyallup usually has the best stock out of any of them though. read more
