I was unwelcome in the store this afternoon. I drove across town to come here. I should have stuck to my original plan and went to Tacoma Boys where I would have been treated with kindness. I've shopped here for years. I like the surprise of not knowing what cool stuff they'll have. The woman working this afternoon was obviously tweaking very badly. She kept staring at me. I asked for the restroom key, like I've done many times in the passed and she said no restroom for the public. She seemed suspicious of me after that. I have pelvic floor issues and OAB but I can understand people steal so it's reasonable for them to no longer offer restrooms. I knew I had to hurry as I can't hold it long. I went to the pet food area and left my cart up above as this is a small store and that area is tight. It's hard to navigate around each other. Within 5ish minutes she had taken my cart away. I was shocked when I went back above. She informed me I broke the rules by leaving the cart. Wtf. I totally understand not leaving a cart for an excessive amount of time. Everything gone. She offered NO help to get my items and she shrugged indifferently. It's wild NOT to say loudly "hey is this anyone's cart?" and just take it away in 5 minutes. There was a very cool planter I was so excited about. She had No interest in retrieving it. It was the last one in the store. I told another employee I'd really wanted the planter. She stared at me with blank eyes, saying nothing. The employee who took the cart seemed satisfied that she punished a customer who was in the wrong. I didn't need everything in my cart but I was having a fun shopping experience that was ruined by a hostile atmosphere. I left without my items.

    Fruit, all kinds.

I like this place. It offers a wide variety of goods, and a ton of produce, fruits, veggies for super low $$. Some of it is close to out of date/expired, but that's the catch. Some fruit you might only have 2-3 days, but if you have a big family, it won't matter. You know that going there. 2 weeks ago I got 2-5count avocado bags, each for 99cents. They have household items, chips, drinks, candy, plants, etc. Whether you're on a budget or not, you should stop in and check it out. Friendly staff and great deals will have you coming back. They also have discount days, student days, ring your own bags, etc. if you love a good deal, you'll love it here.

    Fresh berries for great prices!

After driving by numerous times wondering what this place was all about, we finally stopped. If you aren't worried about a printed expiration date and produce that isn't as pretty as it may be at another big box location, this place is for you. We have stopped in a few times now. Prices are great, selection is plentiful, produce is all delicious, and the staff is very friendly. It's worth stopping in and exploring. Finding quality fresh foods to freeze or cook in large batches can be expensive but this store is perfect to do just that going into the colder months.

Add a crunchy, spicy bite to your salad.

From knives to pots and pans to kitchen gadgets you didn't think you would need until you see them. They even have makeup, hair products, clothes, and anything you can think of. It was so much fun roaming around this store, and they have a variety of the same item. For example, my goal was to get a butcher knife. They have big ones, small ones, heavy ones, ones with short handles, and ones with longer handles. I spent a long time picking one out to my liking. The inside feels like a big warehouse with everything neatly placed in a way that you can just walk up and down the aisles with ease. There was so much to look at that I felt like I spent close to an hour or more here. Some things were reasonably priced, while others were a little higher. It really depends on what you plan on getting from here. I almost got a wok from there but decided against it because the one on sale was a little bit too heavy for me. If you are in the area and love kitchen things, I would suggest going to Shin Shin to check it out. It was fun for me, and I plan to take my mom there on our next trip to Seattle. However, I might regret that decision later, because my mom would just spend her entire trip there and not want to leave. Haha, I will keep you posted on this. Parking is plentiful. Credit cards are accepted. One thing that caught my attention, though, was that the employees would stare you down after a little while. Instead of having security cameras, they have employees at every corner who would randomly show up next to you to ensure you are "shopping" and not stealing. If you are okay with having a personal bodyguard while you shop, then there would be no issues at all. Have fun!

It is a fairly large retail site that carried assorted housewares, some alcohol, restaurant gear, small appliances, bedding and linen, Korean hair & skincare products, and clothing. I was rather amused at the gigantic sizes of some bowls, woks, rice cookers, and cooking pots...literally could hold a toddler or two. As other Yelp posts have noted, they do have attentive store personnel that are at the ready should you have any questions. Unless you're a regular shopper, one will definitely be wandering and browsing every aisle since there are no overhead signage. After all that wandering, I did end up paying for a substantial back scratcher for The Homie and a floral print quilted vest for my mom. Both were reasonable and one was even on sale! Chalk it up to, you don't think you'll find anything in particular, but stop in Shin Shin for some momentary retail therapy.

This thrift store is not for everyone! Half the time, it's not even for me. But we stop here…read moresometimes when we're in the area because it is weird and cheap and every now and then it has some bargains. OK, so first off, the store is not nice inside, and it is basically whatever temperature it is outside, so often that's not very comfortable. It's pretty dingy inside, with dusty, packed shelves that look like they're about to fall over. The right half of the store is clothing, and the left half of the store is... everything else: shoes, glassware, knick-knacks, office supplies, ancient travel-size soap bars, whatever. Oh, and it's kind of smelly. Some stuff has price tags, but a lot of it doesn't. There are a few signs on the wall giving prices by type of clothing, but a lot of the time I end up going to ask what the price is. The quality varies widely - some stuff is pretty used and ratty, and some stuff still has crossed-out Goodwill tags on it, so you know he gets part of his inventory from the Goodwill bins. Customer service is pretty minimal, and there are no returns. So why do I even bother coming here?? Trust me, I ask myself that too. It's just a fascinatingly random assortment of stuff, and every now and then you do find something good. If you're the kind of thrifter who likes pawing through random old junk, you'll enjoy the bizarre garage-sale feel of this place. Definitely not in my top-tier list of Tacoma thrifts, but it is weird and interesting.
