I have mixed feelings about this particular Walmart as a whole. I like the fact that the layout of the store is pretty consistent with how it used to be as other stores. Change is hard for me let alone my son as we are both Autistic but we try the best we can. The other thing is that they have Caroline carts here which is excellent for people with all kinds of disabilities. I honestly do appreciate the sharriff being here not so much for the they prevention but because they actually have been good to both me as well as my son. One of the deputies we see who wears a cowboy hat has always been very kind and understanding so I have taken it upon myself to say hi and have my son see him too. What I don't like is the poor conditions of the restrooms. They are outdated, poorly maintained. The fact that things that are locked up that shouldn't be and the things that should be aren't. There is also a cashier that we have dealt with a couple times has been very rude to us and apparently other stores and it has made us decide to go to a closer store that the wife does not like going to just because of this one cashier (I guess she was wearing a pink bandana but my wife doesn't know her name). read more

Had the worst experience in this Walmart today. Every employee we talked to seemed really irritated. The man that checked us out repeatedly said DL # out loud. Even after being asked 3x not to. Went to talk to a supervisor and the girl working the service counter, identified herself as a manager. But was the rudest of them all. Explained the situation and she said she doesn't t see a problem with that. I should've lower my expectations. But customer service should still be service. Walmart is the place you go when you need one thing and somehow lose 45 minutes of your life you'll never get back. The store is massive, so a "quick stop" turns into a full cardio session just to find a single item on the opposite end of the building. The parking lot is always a complete disaster, no matter the time of day, and once you finally make it inside you'll notice they're perpetually understaffed. Checkout lines are painfully long, self-checkout is chaos, and somehow there's never enough open registers. I also wouldn't touch their meat or produce with a ten-foot pole. It's the textbook example of a massive corporation that prioritizes the bottom line over quality, efficiency, or customer experience. Convenient by name only. Went this morning to pay my rent per usual, I go to the customer service desk and the two workers are talking by the return rack in the very back and there's one lady customer waiting at the register. Customer 1 speaks up and says excuse me there's someone else in this line too. I wasn't acknowledge, not a one moment nothing. The worker Patria( wild eye make up Blk lady) came to the register and said what can I do for you. Nothing was polite. She then says money services doesn't open until 8. I've been doing this consistently for 4 months now. No issue s even had to have a manager help me before. No one spoke of this!! I tell her this and she really likes on the attitude. And says I'll help you this one time. Lol. She helps me. Hands me my receipt. No thank you. No have a good day. Nothing. She doesn't even look at me. I came for tires on 03/29 for my vehicle. First of all, it took 2 1/2 hours to get my tires on. An employee, I'm assuming the manager, named Mike called me out and informed me that my vehicle had some stripped studs, I would need to call a tow truck and would not be allowed to drive my vehicle out of the place due to "liability". He quickly suggested a towing place and pulled out his phone to call. I told him, "no, my dad is capable of towing it. I call my dad and he is on the north end of Tacoma and it's going to take some time for him to get out to Spanaway. Well, my dad is still taking forever so I look up whether or not the Walmart auto center can legally not release my vehicle. I ask Mike if there is a law saying that I cannot drive my car. He doesn't know and responds "I'm not allowing you to leave with your vehicle". I demand my keys. He says "no, I'm not giving you your keys. I don't care what the law says." At this point I inform him that if he does not allow me to leave with my vehicle that I'm going to call the sheriffs. He responds "call them!" So I do. Fast forward 30 more minutes, the pierce county sheriffs department shows up and promptly informs Mike that he cannot legally hold my vehicle. So mike finally backs my car up and "allows" me to leave. In total it took 4 hours to get new tires put on my car including an hour and a half of Mike holding my vehicle hostage. It was clear to me that he had a very specific tow service he wanted me to use. I'd be willing to bet that he has some kind of deal with them. read more

Wouldn't except a return on an unopened non perishable item purchased with cash and with the receipt 2 days after purchase.

Few things to note at this location. 1. The produce you take home only lasts 2-3 days and that's if it was stored correctly. Suggesting they don't rotate produce or meat enough and you pay full price for near expired foods. 2. This location in Spanaway has a receipt checker at the door, so remember when you spend all that time in the long lines because they shut down self check out and only open 3 or 4 registers at a time your gonna be caught at another line to prove a second time you bought your items. Then they will give you the constant chit chat when you're trying to leave. 3. When you are checking out I was asked to give them a 5 star rating on the keypad to "keep them In business"... 4. More often then not don't look at the price under the item, as they tend to not put things we're the belong. On a regular basis I see the employees throw things in the shelf 5. If you have an altercation with an employee because of something they did, security will come talk to you and belittle and berate you tell you not to talk to employees like that and then proceed to follow you around the store making eye contact. 6. Do not buy "fresh" corn when it's in stock. As it sits in the back before being faced and develops black and white mold. AND THEY STILL PUT IT OUT and tell you to just "shuck it off" 7. If you can avoid it, stay away from customer service at this location. 9/12 trips I took inside they were rude and condescending to both my wife and to myself. 8. Save yourself all of this. Honestly, my family isn't huge on shopping at Walmart due to them not really caring for their employees, but anyways my fiancé and I shop here often because it's close to home and I'm so glad they have delivery pick up. It has helped us so much during this pandemic. I'm a nurse so I get dirty looks ALL the time when I come into the store BEFORE work with my scrubs on, so I started just doing delivery and their deliver is always so kind and sweet. The max I ever waited for someone to come out was like 5 min. Pleased with their service for sure and usually Walmart is difficult to handle. read more

I went to this Walmart and made the mistake of spraying on some Axe Bodyspray to see how it wore on me. Upon exiting the store 2 women grabbed my arms and tried pulling me back inside the store before I asked them who they were and what they were doing, and they said they were security and wanted me to go back inside. I told them I didnt steal anything and requested they search me but they refused and said to come inside to be searched so I relented and went inside their security room. They showed me a video of me spraying on the body spray while they searched my belongings. After they searched me and found nothing they said "Have anything to say for yourself?" and I said yeah, you owe me an apology! Then they said to calm down or theyll have me arrested. Keep in mind these 2 girls were trying really hard to flex on me like they were more man than me the entire time. Long story short they put me in their system as a thief for stealing 1 spray of Axe Bodyspray, and I spent $600 a month there every month. You have to watch your account like a hawk. They add your driver's trip to the total of your order. So, in my case my order was 53.12 they added my 4.00 tip and came up with 57.14. Then they took the 4.00 tip out of my account again. I figure they owe me 4.02 so they said they would refund 4.00 but it would take 5 days. Who gets the 2 cents? And why do I have to call them and ask for a correction. And if they refunded my tip does that mean they didn't give it to the driver.????? No wonder the store is so rich, you cheat enough customers and drivers out of 4.02 . That's a lot of money. I don't normally shop at this Walmart, but I have a few times now and while I haven't been super impressed I haven't had any big negative experiences either. At the beginning of this COVID business I haven't had to wait terribly long in their line to get in, maybe 10-15mins max and I've gone early afternoon to late evening. I don't grocery shop at any Walmart, but they do have what I need in a pinch for a little bit more than what I normally pay. I was saddened by their gardening section though.. I know it's really late in the season, but all I needed was a little pot and I couldn't find any or even help from an associate to ask if they had any at a different location in the store. Still having issues with mobile cars I've been sitting here for almost an hour waiting for a mobile car and still none I've talked to the person in the front and asked them how many mobile cars they had and he said only 3 how could you run a business with out these especially for the disabled they do a lot of shopping I am the main person that does the shopping and it's difficult when you can't fine a mobile car it's a waste of my time just sitting here. Well it was my fault for even considering shopping at Walmart in Spanaway. I decided to go there set on buying an iroomba that clearly stated on their app they had in stock for immediate or pick up today. GOOD THING I DID NOT PAY FOR IT ONLINE...for an easier checkout because they didnt even have that model on display. I actually stood there for 10 minutes waiting for somebody to assist me thinking they kept it in the back before my boyfriend called the store's main line number asking for assistance in the vacuum section. All together we waited about 30 minutes wasting our time. They hardly have any staff working the aisles. Whoever is in charge of updating their shopping app needs to do their job because I would have never drove the distance for a total waste of time. Very frustrating. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. The lady behind the customer service counter was beyond rude for no reason. I had purchased some shoes that were on sale at the Federal Way super Walmart. I didn't realize until after I left that the cashier charged me full price. No biggie. It happens. I figured that I would stop at the Walmart in Yelm to get the difference back, as I was out there visiting family. I had my receipt and the box of shoes, which I brought in. When I got up to the counter, I explained what happened to the associate. And she grabs my receipt and tells me that I have to take them back to the Federal Way store as each store deals with there own "money. I told her that I didn't want to return them, just wanted the overcharge put back onto my debit card. She just flatly refused and wouldn't help me. I looked up the return policy on Walmart.com, and it clearly states that I can take back a return to any store within 90 days of purchase. All I did was walk inside to use the restroom, milk and a Bolthouse, and the associates were giving me looks like I stole a couple TV'S or something. On top of that, there's obvious surveillance everywhere... Although this is in no means an issue, it does symbolize that this Walmart has a high rate of theft... There are also alot of unusual and 'tweaker' like people in the little corners of the front parking lot, which can be an issue when there's good people and kids around with cars left unattended. I'll always support Walmarts low key overnight policy, but not when unusual people are abusing it and stealing from the store in return, which is what i'm assuming those unusual people are doing. Do not shop here This store advertises prices online and on the app and then when you go in they say those prices are wrong and try to upsell you. I found this to ge true on 10 products today. They told me to call customer service and then customer service said that it was the store making these prices. False advertising to the max. I also found 3 products that had incorrect proces on the shelf, even when I pointed it out they didn't change the price, they said they would do it later. Was confirmed on the phone that they will price match the Walmart website/ Walmart app. When I arrived we went through about 30 minutes of looking for the tv (there was an equivalent match in stock) exact same tv, brand, quality, sound output. Often a quick stop for grocery/goods needed. I utilize self checkout often, which is great at this location as they have two sets. I would say most times the staff seem unapproachable, listening to music through earbuds or chatting with other workers. As for the store itself, everything seems to be reasonably placed, the bathrooms are atrocious at times. I can almost never find a hand basket rather than grabbing a cart for a few items. I shop here because it's convenient but if there was another location closer to me I would shop there possibly. read more

I went to get glasses at this Walmart. The lady the optometrist has been working there for 5 years. Did an excellent job got the right prescription very happy Great experience. This is after I got a prescription a couple days before at Fred Meyers on 72nd which I did not trust. The prescriptions were different and I know that the Fred Meyer prescription was wrong obviously I paid an extra hundred bucks to do it again. read more

We needed a new tire for a damaged tire, as well as a routine oil change and thought, due to proximity of our house, Walmart would be a great option for one stop shop. I sat in my vehicle and waited as the vehicle that needed the service pulled into the lane for the tire shop. (They have 2 tire lanes, and 2 lube lanes.) There were a couple of cars being helped, with one in the queue. It did take quite awhile before being greeted,(this was about 8 am on Saturday.) However, once greeted the staff was friendly enough. They said the car would be completed within a couple hours. I received a call a couple of hours later saying that they did not have the key for the locking lug nuts. They did perform the oil change, but when the paperwork wouldn't scan opted to give it to us complimentary, which was not expected, but we are grateful. Also why they get a one star. Took the car to Les Schwab and they immediately found the key next to the spare tire. Decided it was the ethical thing to do to return to Walmart. Though by this time they could not get my car in same day. Returned Sunday morning at 930. Didn't expect immediate service, and it seemed they were dealing with an irate customer. The problem being, as cars lined up, turned around and left, lined up, left, etc ..they continued to ALL focus on the irate customer,ignoring everyone else. Took an hour (I was watching the clock,) to get helped. Once helped they did not have enough of the tires needed for my car and were unable to help. Overall, we wasted many hours for no solution. The guys, to be fair, are nice enough, however, there is clearly a training issue. Customer service, speed, thorough management of the lines, handling of difficult situations, and Communication are entirely lacking. Unfortunately, we will not return. read more

My 1st visit to this location. Had to purchase a tarp to cover the used refrigerator I had purchased. I ended up purchasing other stuff. It was very pleasant to shop here knowing I truly dislike walking into a Walmart to shop. I hate the craziness & busyness of their nature. Skip pickup orders at this location! The pickup tower is completely separated from the customer service area. At order pickup there are no standby employees so you have to go back and forth from pickup to customer service and if it's busy it takes even longer. Online the order took over a week to be ready for pickup, I ended up going to another Walmart and bought the items off the shelf before my pickup order was ready. The Walmart I went to was also able to cancel my order without me having to pick it up or anything but the Spananway Walmart had me pick up the items- wait 30 minutes for it to set into the system and then return it. You can expect the same thing you would as any other Walmart. However, i do frequently see comments or articles on social media about crimes happening to this specific location. Personally, I dread going into any Walmart and utilize the grocery pick up feature instead. So far experience was great. I only once received one time a bad product. I ordered strawberries and the ones i received were moldy. I was able to get my money back through the app. read more
