Often the employees at the warehouse area by paint and garden are loud when they speak. I've heard profanity and dislike for their jobs. This carries out into the shopping area. Children can hear the profanities. On several occasions I found food long beyond their expired date. On one event an employee told me the hotdogs I pointed out had been put in the cooler the night before. They were a month over expiration. This location seems to be poorly managed and has plenty of disgruntled employees that hate their jobs but don't leave. read more

It's walmart lol. I was looking for a cooler and asked an associate where the ice boxes were and I was told they are in front of the store by the cashiers. I think the associate thought I was asking where I can buy ice lol. Well, I ignore their advise and walked around and finally found them in the fishing area... called for quite a way aways and asked if they had tires my size in stock ,i explained the size i needed , oh yes we have them ,,,so get in the truck to go get 4 carry out tires that i needed ,,after that long drive the guy at the tire shop was very very short with me ,,then saying we dont have the size you need ,i says i called and someone said you did have my size ,,,he was very smart mouth with me and told me he was glad it was quitting time ,,,i said listen i dont need and smart remarks i drove a long way to pick up tires you said you had in stock ,,he says well we dont have them ,,,ill never go back to the walmart in oberlin ohio ever again ..wasted my time and trip and im still not happy about it ... read more

I go here for grocery pick up and have never had a problem. The staff who bring your order and load it have always been friendly. Produce picked out have always been good choices. I have never been inside, so I cant speak to that experience, but it has to be better than Lorain. I drive 25 minutes to this location instead of 10 minutes to Lorain. read more

I always feel like any Walmart is the same, but this one is probably my least favorite. This Walmart seems to be a bit smaller than others I've been to and I don't think the selections on items are that great. I do stop here quite a bit though because it is convenient and on my way home from work. I always go to the self checkout because the cashiers always seem to be slow as molasses. The self checkout is definitely much smaller than other stores. They no longer have arrows on the floor for going down the aisles one way. I do see them sanitizing carts before customer use, so I do appreciate that. Some of the employees were wearing their masks below their nose which defeats the purpose of wearing a mask. read more

This Walmart is great. It is always clean and the people are friendly. Their optical section in the store is great! I went there to get new glasses and the sales person was from a different store. He was filling in. He was fantastic. He was patient and kind. He went over everything with me in detail. I really appreciated his time and all the info he gave me. read more

Walmart needs to give up selling fresh produce. I have repeatedly purchased fresh produce that had expiration dates approximately a week away and when i open the package much of the produce is brown or rotting. They obviously don't have the ability to properly handle fresh produce. When I was there last night they also had strawberries that were way past their prime with many of the berries rotting in the clamshells. I must say even Aldi and other discount grocery stores actually have way better quality then Walmart. read more

Not enough checkers and after standing in line for 20 minutes the cashier says she is not allowed to stay over and shut down her lane. Then they opened lane 4 and of course they did not move people over that had been standing in line for so long so therefore we stood inline another 1/2 hour. Absolutely ridiculous! read more

One of the women in the pharmacy was incredibly rude to my mother today when she was in there. She was buying a sinus medication and they checked her ID. The woman wouldn't let my mother purchase it because she only has one name. She made fun of her and wouldn't give her the time of day. She has never had a problem with this before so it was just this woman choosing to discriminate against my mother for being unique. I will be speaking with the manager as well. read more

Every time I go here I end up spending obscene amounts of money on objects such as Swiss army lighters, nightgowns, variety packs of frito-lays chips, ironic t-shirts from the young men's section, or purple tubes of lipstick. In addition, tonight as I was leaning over to load up my car with my purchases I was sexually harassed by several males in a pickup truck. Barf. I know Oberlin doesn't have many stores and sometimes there's something you need that you can only get by going to Wal-Mart of driving to another city. And if you're in a hurry or low on gas, you might have to choose Wal-Mart. But the company is horrible and I haven't once been in this particular store and not left feeling angry or depressed. Please try not to shop at Wal-Mart. read more

Ordered a bike for my great nephew at Oberlin College, I live in the Kansas City area, it was delivered to the store and assembled by the at no charge, people at customer service desk and Toys were very responsive especially Heather, who called personally to let me know bike was ready for pickup after they got it assembled. I know that many people think Walmart's, as a company, is evil. But when I go to our local store, i think about the fact that many people who work there wouldn't have job if Walmart hadn't come to town. There's not much around here. So I try to see the human face. But the human face in this particular store is why I won't shop there anymore. Save your receipts. Every single one, even if it's just for a box of tic tacs. If you come in without a receipt (no matter how small and inexpensive the item, no matter how obviously the item was defective), they will treat you like you stole something. You will probably still be able to make the exchange, but if your experience is anything like mine, they will be rude and condescending, call you a liar to your face, and then talk badly about you to their co-workers while you are still in earshot. This has happened to me more than once. Really, it's my fault for returning to the store. My only defense is that there aren't many options in Oberlin and Walmart is the ONLY option past 10:00 pm. I'm just going to have to plan ahead better, because I'm done with them. read more

I was just in this particular Walmart (Oberlin) and had one of the worst experiences. I had food items and taxable items and wanted to pay separtly for them. The cashier said my food card wasn't working (just used it ) and so I wanted to pay with my debt card, again she said it wasn't taking it, but it will take credit. Well I thought she maybe new and didn't do something right, but when, what looked like a supervisor came up to tell her to shut off, her light, I thought well she will fix the problem. No she looked at me like I was keeping her from something and never even bothered to ask what was wrong or going on. I've seen this happen before here and the cashier just pushed the wrong button and the supervisor fixed it, but this time NOTHING. I usually like going to this Walmart ,but now I'm going to reconsider. read more

I work at Walmart and all these evil stories I hear are completely untrue. I work with some of the most nicest people I've ever met in my life. Just the other day I thought I was off and I wasn't, and instead of getting coached about it the manger called me on his personal cell just to let me know I worked and they let me come in to take over my shift. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I can guarantee Walmart is a great place, and I'm not just saying that cause I work there. Shopping is just as good I've found about 90% of what I've needed from that store, and if it's not there you can ship to store for pickup. It's not difficult. Long story short. My grandmother received a call from the "Gas Company" telling her she owed money because they switched service providers. Being elderly and concerned about ongoing fines she followed the callers direction and drove to the Oberlin Walmart to purchase a $500.00 Walmart card to pay them off. She was then supposed to call them so they could meet her for the "payment." Thank heavens for the two young women working at the service desk. They saw the red flags and questioned her purchase, then advised her to file a report at the Police Station in Oberlin. They could have easily rang up her purchase and disregarded her concern. Thank you for being so diligent, going above and beyond what you had to do that day and protecting my grandmother. read more

Going to Oberlin College, I hear about how horrible Wal-Mart is and how the company is downright evil. I do agree Wal-Mart can improve in certain aspects but I'm just going to say it, as long as the prices are cheap and the produce and meat selection stay fresh here, I will shop here until another alternative is within a reasonable distance. Wal-Mart is much better than IGA and Gibson's in Oberlin in terms of meat and produce selection and that is what matters to me, especially when I cook. If Oberlin gets a Whole Foods or a Fresh Market, then I'll shop there instead of Wal-Mart; but until that happens, I will still frequent this evil place. read more
