I have been shopping at this store for over ten years and never had a single bad experience until today. What happened was completely unacceptable and really embarrassing. I have never in my life shoplifted. I was raised to always do the right thing, even when no one is watching. My wife, kids, and I were having a great day. We went to the park, walked around the neighborhood, and decided to stop by Walmart to pick up some groceries. We also brought two five-gallon water bottles to refill, which we always do when we shop at this store. We went through self-checkout, paid for everything, and got our receipt. I handed the receipt to the lady at the door wearing a yellow vest. She looked at it, checked our cart, and said we were good to go. But right when we were about to leave, some random man who wasn't even wearing a Walmart vest or anything showing he worked there stopped my family and me to "check" if we scanned our two water bottles. It was so disrespectful and humiliating. Why would I not scan two five-gallon bottles that I brought into the store for my family to use? What is the point of having someone check receipts at the door if another person is just going to stop us again in front of everyone? People were staring at us like we had stolen something, and it made us feel awful. And the worst part was that when he saw we had paid for everything, he didn't even say sorry. He just walked away like nothing happened. That really made me angry and disappointed. After this, I don't feel the same about this store anymore. If something like this ever happens again, I will go straight to customer service and ask for my money back, whether it's for food or anything else. No one deserves to be treated that way. read more

Their grocery pickup has gone downhill. In my last 2 orders, I have arrived within my scheduled time, and they are still picking my order. Mind you, I placed my order well over 24 hours ahead of time. The first time I waited 1 hour and 20 minutes. They say they don't see the orders until 2 hours before but picking 20-30 items should not take 3 hours. Yesterday's order after waiting another hour, I cancelled my order and left, and I know I was not the only one. Very disappointed. read more

It's always a blessing and good karma not to see The police car in front of Walmart. I went in for the first time and the whole place was well stuffed and very clean. They have so many items and nothing was missing. It's not your Macy's or upper class store, but the prices here are unbeatable. Even Costco may not be able to compete with the prices. Walmarts quality has been good to me and to my family and they last years. Plenty of parking and the food department is really big. Well its place. The eyes are not cramped and jammed with new items and this place. Customers and employees in this place look like normal peaceful crowd. I was feeling so safe and so comfortable I spent more than one hour and a half looking at things and I bought a few items. read more

Walmart online is the WORST experience I have ever had shopping online. The product that was sent was wrong. I tried to return it online. It said that it had to be returned in store. I tried to return it in store only to have them tell me " it won't go through ...you need to call the 1800 number. This has been going on for almost 3 weeks now! I have made 6 phone calls to their 1800 line. I have been assured 6 times that the problem is resolved and I can make my return now. I have been to the store 6 times! I have been told 2 times that the "return has been fast tracked ...you do not need to do anything more ...you can discard the product....your refund has been issued automatically and will appear in your account in the next 24 hours". But it IS NOT FIXED. The REFUND is not there! Thankfully I did not discard the product. I have sent it to them. I may or may not get my refund now. I may just be out the 220.00 dollars.....but I'M DONE! It is ironic that when I brought the package into FedEx to send it....there were 4 other people who had bad Walmart online stories just like mine! August 30th 2024..... I came to this location and purchased a item. I then noticed that there was something else that I wanted to get but I did not have enough money so I wanted to return the previous item I had bought get in store credit and purchase the other item that I had in mind. When I returned the previous item they gave me HALF of what I paid. They said necessarily when you purchase an it depreciates in value. WHAT A EXCUSE!!! I would have let that slide if they would have let me get the other item in question. They made me jump through hoops. They lied about their policies and gave me a bunch of bullshit!!! It's a terrible location the bathrooms are dirty as hell and when I asked them if they could hold on to the item I wanted to purchase they said, WE DO NOT HOLD ITEMS FOR CUSTOMERS and they were very snotty!!! Walmart doesn't care about the customer. They care about your cash. They don't see you as a customer. They see you as a Dollar sign. NOTHING MORE. NOTHING LESS. I am living proof and if they can they'll take money from disabled people and rip them off. Just before I left today after the altercation, they said we don't care if you come back. You're a customer. You could always be replaced. I'll be shopping at Target for anything I need and I'll get my groceries from Cub Foods from now on. I now end this review with 3 words..... My man and I like shopping at Walmart since it's like a one stop shop type thing, and this Walmart is close to where we work, we're currently not satisfied with the racist old white lady near the doors/self check out. My man paid for his car radio in electronics and walked out. Was stopped by this racist old white lady. If your doing a delivery order they send you all around nobody knows what they are doing I waited over 30 minutes for a order to come out to me and when I called like I'm hereeee again nobody was working on it like I was told ! And than they come out asking who I am like I haven't called in saying my order number and that I'm in the front. I travel a lot and when I do - there is always a good chance I will stop in at a nearby Walmart to pick up what I forgot to pack. In this case it was a bathing suit and I was able to find one here for one dollar on clearance - it doesn't get better than that! However, that's where this ends and starts to go down hill. I went to this Wal-Mart this morning. Looked around for wipes and hand sanitizer at the door. Then was told by an associate that they were out of wipes, but it was OK because the carts were sanitized. They were full of trash and used gloves so I highly doubt it. I should have walked out right then. For the first time I felt the need to sanitize my items, myself, and my car after shopping there. I will never go back, felt very disrespected. read more

I bought 3 car batteries from Walmart over the course of last year (2019). 1st was purchased on Jan 14th an was instantly brought back into the store and exchanged because the posts where backwards. I used that battery up until April 16th when my electrical system started acting up in my car. After replacing my alternator I purchased a 2nd battery on April 16th, upon attempting to return battery 1 I was told I can not get refund unless they test the battery first and since cottage grove does not have an auto center I would have to go to a store that had a automotive department so i did and managed to only receive an exchange finally on June 24th. From June to September 23rd the 2nd battery worked properly, then in late September I had to start switching between the 2 batteries just to start my car Walmart refused to return or exchange either battery. So at that Point I just refused to even step foot in Walmart. After Searching for the proper battery that would fit my vehicle, If I did not want to spend upwards of over $250 on another car battery it appeared Walmart was My only option once again October 26 I purchased my third battery of the year a 96R plus. Walmart still refused to return, exchange, or even make an attempt to make things right with these other two batteries even though they both had one year warranty's and it was well within the one-year. Walmart would tell me I would either one need to go to a different store or to need to contact the manufacturer directly or three just flat out refused to help me, I received A voicemail from Everstart (the manufacturer) today which informed me that Walmart is the sole owner, manufacturer, right holder, And the one responsible for all warranties on Everstart batteries!! When I brought this information to their attention they said there was smug little smirks on their faces apologizing that they can't do nothing to help me fact is I am sitting here with two batteries was supposed one year warranty's and I can't even get them replaced read more

Very happy with the lady who checks the receipts. I felt as if a man was stalking my children and I caught him staring at them while I was in the store so I promptly went to checkout. When I was in line he decided to stand behind me. I told the lady as I was leaving that he had made me uncomfortable and I hurried to get the children in the car. When he came outside the children were in the car and I was on the other side of my car where he could not see me but I could see him. He promptly walked to the left and I thought I had just been overreacting. But then he started scanning the parking lot and walked back towards the door while scanning the parking lot. The lady was inside watching him and agreed that he seemed to be looking for me in the parking lot and she decided to come outside until he left. Maybe it was nothing but coincidence but she did not need to come outside. I very much appreciate that she did. read more

First off, it just opened. I mean, like two days ago just opened. It's that new. It smells of wet cat food. Yes, even in the produce section that you walk into. Cat food. A scent so overwhelming that it never leaves your nostrils. The type of stank that lingers so heavily that you could use it to cover the scent of death in a morgue, although the morgue might be better off without the smell of wet cat food. Besides that, it's a Walmart. You happen to be desperate enough to get a trash can at 3:30 in the morning? You're in luck --- Walmart sells one that actually has a warning label stuck on it that informs their clientele (that is able to read) that the trash can is made materials that is known to cause cancer. Of course it's made by a company called Better Homes...because all good homes can be better with cancer-causing trash cans. I'd say that Walmart is killing off the small businesses of Cottage Grove, but the people of Cottage Grove did that long ago by not shopping in their own town when they actually had small businesses. But screw Walmart anyways. Why? Because a two-day old store shouldn't smell of wet cat food and sell trash cans that can kill me. read more

Was put off with we will refund your seven dollars with a rude customer service person who liked to raise her voice when I disagreed. The hospital cost me over 2 grand. read more

I went to this Walmart to purchase some perfume. I realize that the perfume is all locked up so I went and asked an employee to open it for me and they paged someone on their walkie to come to the isle. After ten minutes I sent my boyfriend to go look for someone to help and he couldn't even find a worker. He went all the way to the electronics section only to be told they will page someone. No one ever showed up. He went to go tell a worker about the situation and they said they would help him and sorry about the wait. Only to have the worker ignore him and have him stand there while the worker stocked shelves. It took a hour for this process to go down only for me to find mini perfume bottles that were not locked so I settled and bought that. As I was leaving an employee said "you finally got your perfume" which I was not helped with at all. So if your going to need any help from the employees here I wouldn't look forward to it. Surprised because other walmarts I been to the employees are everywhere watching you like a hawk to make sure your not shoplifting but this store seems like no one even works there. read more

I would give this store a 5 stars for the greeters, there's a older man in particular that is so friendly and truly make you feel welcomed. I would give the floor staff a 1. They are never available and don't know where anything is..negative attitudes also make it harder to want to come back again. Workers are mostly rude and unwilling to help. The store is unorganized and there's always unattended freight on pallets waiting to be put away right in the aisles. There's often a pallet jack left with the pallet. Neither of these things are safe at all, and it blocks merchandise. I've spent over an hour wandering the store trying to find someone to open a locked case, usually talking to 4-5 people before anyone ever comes over to unlock the case, and the workers usually have walkies so they can call for someone to come open the case, it's simply that nobody ever shows up. Some of the cases have assistance buttons, if you're willing to hang around for 25 minutes and press it a couple times until someone shows up. I've bought Walmart branded stuff that is broken/doesn't work right out of the package, mostly electronics like headphones that are immediately staticky and don't work unless you hold the cord perfectly and tape players for your car that the cord isn't even attached to the tape. It usually STINKS like sulfur in the front of the store. I don't recommend visiting unless you absolutely have to. read more

My 4 stars is in comparison to other Wal-Mart's. This is the cleanest, least crowded Wal-Mart I have ever been to. Not sure if it is because it is new, but seems like the ghetto hasn't made their 2nd home here. As for the Cat food scent review, I must have a clogged nose because I haven't caught a whiff of that in multiple visits. Will say they seem understaffed at the checkouts... but if you learn the self checkout you can be out of there in a flash. read more

I ordered an item online for same day store pickup and 4.5 hours later it is still listed as "Preparing Order". I contacted Walmart through chat and entered my order number and described my issue. Literally the worst place I have ever been. I don't shop at Walmart, and coming here reminded me why. I ordered a pool online for pick up, get to the pick up area they haven't gotten my order yet.. fine no big deal I left before I got a confirmation email that it was ready... online it says they have a few in stock so I'll just go grab one. Go to the front summer section, not there... go to the pool section... not there. Try to find someone, anyone to check and make sure they have some in stock and where they are located... reach a group of 3 ladies who work there... ask if they can help me locate this pool... this question is apparently a huge inconvenience for them. Finally with some huffing and puffing the lady grabs a scanner to check, is totally rude and acting as if I am the biggest inconvenience to her day. this scanner doesn't work, she asks the other ladies if they can grab the other one, nothing. She finally says I know where it is I'll just grab it. She swears in front of my young children. Can't find it with the product code, so I give her the name which she is annoyed I am giving her the name of the pool to search that way. At this point I say forget it and walk away. I couldn't believe the way they treat their customers it was seriously unbelievable. Go back to the pick up section to see if maybe they retrieved the pool i ordered... he says it can take a few days to come in to the store, I said I ordered it for Today pick up.. he looks for it and finds my order, he says that the location of the pool is unavailable and would have to look in all the places I already looked, and would basically be a waste of his time. I told him to cancel my order. Never going there again. #TARGETforLIFE !!!!!!! Target just needs to have in stock non-inflatable pools! But Walmart doesn't have those either apparently!!!! read more
