Man, I hate shopping at this Walmart. In the twelve years since my last update, it has only gotten worse. It's still just ONE star and it's just that bad. Mrs. K. calls it, "Where shopping is displeasure." Sure, it's low class customers who abandon stuff on shelves, who don't know how to walk down an aisle with a cart, and who leave trash in the parking lot. And then there are many associates who truly don't care. Management either does not care or is unable to fix it. At this point, I only come here for the handful of things that I can't get at Costco, ALDI, or LIDL, or the stuff that Public charges twice as much for. And there are certain things I absolutely will not buy at Walmart, especially anything fresh or anything with an expiration date. I have seen too many items on the shelf that are about to expire or they end up going back as soon as I get them home. Today's trip was just baking goods and canned goods, the shelf stable stuff that Walmart cannot really mess up but Publix charges a premium for. We also needed dog biscuits since the Chewy order is two weeks out and we are running low. Would you believe that they moved the pet department to god knows where and did not bother updating the signage? Checkout was its own adventure. We had ten things on the belt when the register went down. The customer ahead of us had already finished their transaction, lost the whole sale, and had to pull everything out of the bags to rescan it. We switched to another register and ended up behind guys paying with one hundred dollar bills. They were old bills, so the cashier had to walk them over to a manager for approval. What is a thirty minute pop in at every other store on our list turned into nearly ninety minutes of hassle. I will keep shopping here, but as rarely as possible and only for the stuff I cannot get at Costco, ALDI or LIDL and only when Publix wants twice the price. I used to frequent this Walmart when I used to go to church nearby (over 10 years ago.) today was the first time I've been back and it doesn't look the same. The parking lot and the outside of the building look rundown; it could use new parking lines, a power wash, and new asphalt to cover the potholes. The inside looks like most Walmarts, however I did not like the check out. This one, similar to the independence location does not offer self-check out for customers with more than 15 items. read more

What's not to like about a Walmart? When you walk in the door you pretty much know exactly what you're going to find, with only the store layout sometimes being a bit different. This was a nice clean Super Walmart and it had everything we were looking for. Nice big parking lot and convenient location add up to a good visit. read more

It's actually kind of amazing how the store, frankly, this company, doesn't care in the slightest about its customer's shopping satisfaction. It clearly shows that they value their business interests. Why else would they have no cashiers, self check out closed, everything locked up and no one around with a key, and policies like only able to purchase the gift card at customer service. I am not a frequent shopper at Walmart because of this type of horrible policies. If they are worried about their shrink, there are better ways to go about preventing theft. They have made the store almost unshoppable. They need to have better practices that can retain employees and actually have employees so that the line to check out in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon is not 25 minutes. The management of the store and the management of the company in general is in serious need of a course correction. I write this review simply want to thank a young associate Quinten who had gone above and beyond to help me on April 17, Wednesday afternoon. I was in a hurry to buy a piece of white fabric and I had confidence that I could get it from Walmart on my way to Police Training school close by. I walked up the Fabric section with nobody but a bell to call. I pressed a few times, waited for about 5 minutes with no help. There was not even any staff around. So I walked to customer services where there were three staff there. They used intercom to make a PA, so I hurried back to the Fabric section. Wait for another 5 minutes. No one showed up. Then I walked to the back of the store near electric, TV section to see this young man Quinten who was busy with his register. Another lady staff said she was on break that I could totally understand. But Quinten said, he would come to help me when he finished that transaction. I knew Fabric was not his department. I thanked him for doing that extra work. He came over to the Fabric section and said he had never sold fabric. I said I could show him the quickest way to measure. He cut the fabric for me. Then there was no barcode for the fabric that I purchased. We both walked to customer service for further help. Customer service directed him back to look for a bar code. So we walked back again. He finally found a barcode matched with the merchandise I purchased. Back and forth wasn't fun for customer as well as their associate. However, Quinten had shown his professionalism in customer service to take care of customer first. Unlike the others showing who cares. Even it was a little bit late but I got my mission done. I hope other staff would have that caring attitude and respect their jobs. Or Walmart may look into improving the attitude of their staff. I would let Walmart to decide who is more right, management or associates. But I just want to thank Quinten for his help and wish he has a brighter future in his career. read more

Ordered a pick up order, waited over 40 minutes for them to bring it out to my car. The order still did not arrive, I called to cancel the $162 order and went into Walmart myself. The lady that answered the phone for the pickup order hung up on me after I gave her my name to cancel the order. I assumed after she hung up on me, we were good. Go in to get groceries get to check out and they have 2 clerks with lines backed up into the clothing section. Both ends of the store have self check out and both ends had lines backed up into the store. American tax payers subsidize walmarts and I don't know why. I had zero expectations and was still let down. Empty shelves (not even 1 pack of any kind of bagels), unmotivated employees, expired food, and long lines. The self checkout line went into the produce department, and the regular lines were in women's clothing. It's a normal Sunday evening with Thanksgiving weeks away. Your frozen items will be thawed by the time you check out. How this Walmart stays busy, I'll never know. The money you save isn't worth it. Go next door to Publix or somewhere else. My husband & I had not shopped South Tryon Walmart since his stroke last fall and we will not return. The store seemed to be equipped for the handicapped with parking spaces but inside there were 2 inoperable power carts holding trash. I chased down to the other entrance and found one (100% charged with cover torn on seat back) which I drove to him at a snail's pace. After shopping a short while the power read 15% so he headed back to the entrance, plugged it in and waited while I finished shopping. He met me at checkout, I transferred items from his cart to mine, checked out and we crept along to leave with the door attendant pushing the pokey cart as he had helped before. Absolutely the dumbest people I've ever seen. They used a YouTube video to figure out how to change my oil. Don't they have spec sheets? They tried telling me my hood latch was broken and would fly up. They couldn't figure out how to open my hood. It was loose because I had just popped the hood. (insert eye roll). Please don't do an online curbside pickup and expect someone to have your order ready or for your order to come out at all. I waited for over an hour during non busy times and an associate just stopped coming out. Myself and others were waiting for almost 2 hrs for our orders. No one would answer the phone. I had no choice but to request a cancellation which also has to process and it's not immediate. Therefore, there is a transactional hold on my bank account. I would give zero stars if possible. Here now. Needed something in Health and Beauty, had to wait for someone to come there as no one was attending, open the cabinet for facial scrub, and had to pay there. Then to automotive for a headlight. Waited 30 minutes while pressing the button for cabinet to be unlocked, asking workers for someone to unlock cabinet and being told they don't have access, the store manager has left, and no one else is available. Called the store While In The Store and no one answered the call. After 45 minutes the cabinet was unlocked and I had to pay at automotive for the light. Then 15 minute wait at the pharmacy where I then paid for my medication there. Ridiculous experience and a lack of customer service. Target, here I come! read more

This is my go-to Walmart. I love Walmart because the prices are great and they always have the items I need in stock. I have never had any issues at this specific location. The staff could definitely be friendlier but I feel like it comes with the territory. Another thing I've noticed is that this location is always understaffed. It does not matter what day or time I go - it is always crowded and the lines are insane. Lastly, the parking lot is definitely sketchy at night so I think it would be a good idea for them to add more lighting. read more

Staff is very friendly and helpful. This is my go-to store for daily needs. They have almost exactly you need at lowest price for guaranteed. Also, experienced pick-up orders where you can buy stuff online and they'll have it ready for you, which is very easy and convenient. Returns are very easy and convenient too. This is by far one of the WORST Walmart's in the area, you really can say a mouthful about this place but really the experience speaks for itself. I highly recommend getting in & getting out as quickly as humanly possible here. It's not a terrible place as far as safety however it's always crowded, the bathroom stinks, the cops are always there because people steal, the parking lot is packed & people park horribly here. The Walmart employee who assisted me with the pickup was very polite and even gave me a little gift bag with coupons and candy once my groceries had been loaded into my car. This Walmart stays packed. However, they usually have what I need. The bakery section is probably one of the best I've seen at most Walmarts. I can get all my needs at this location. When I have to go here I love using savings catcher so I know I'm getting the best deal in the area. I haven't had problems with produce being bad or anything. I've also tried the order online service and it's awesome too!! Some days I don't wanna socialize so I just opt to have it all picked up and I can go about my business for the day.
