This is my local Walmart, so I frequent here often! They've recently gone through a remodel so I was pretty excited to come back to see the changes! The remodel looks great! The aisles are nice and organized and the store is clean (including the bathrooms). Normally when coming to Walmart I get overwhelmed with finding what I need and getting distracted with buying things I don't need lol. However this is not the case, I am able to easily able to find my items check out and go home. The only recommendation I have is to make the self checkout option available on the non grocery side a tad bit later for quicker check out. Horrible. Raven refused to do my return. They looked at me like I was crazy, so I said soooo is she going to do my return. Dex said it was up to her. She looked at him and told him she was about to go stock some and refused he could do it. He then looked at me and smirk and said well it was up to her. Strictly comparing to other Walmart locations, this one isn't on the same level as other Walmart's in the greater B'ham area. The one thing they do have going for them, especially with their proximity to a large civilized area ... they have TONS of parking. Seriously if things ever fully get back to normal this may be a good Walmart for Black Friday (if that is ever actually a thing at stores again). This store, like many other reviews have stated, just fails to impress or set the bar when it comes to anything. Customer service interactions only occur if you need something and/or are checking out. But they are limited at best (typically). Stock can be really hit or miss at this location as well. you will probably find most of the Walmart type stuff you are looking for, but if you are grocery shopping and have a specific list, there is a good chance you'll need to make another stop to complete the list. The store itself just kind of has a 'I really need a spring cleaning' feel about it and I've actually always felt that way about this location. I certainly wouldn't drive out of my way to come to this location and if you really need a Walmart, may opt to keep going up the road a few miles to the Alabaster location. read more

Ugh This walmart is a tee total mess right now!!Everything is moved. Supposedly they are redoing the store . Here's the thing your customers dont appreciate having to waste time finding crap . This right here is why I dont like going into real stores between rude employees/not friendly and you have clearance stickers on items but they ring up wrong . This is also a nuisance . It's such aggravation and nonsense. Oh by the way the front restrooms are closed. Shut your doors down til you get the place right!! I am not sure why some reviews are so bad. I have been going to this supermarket for years now and I never had a bad experience. Food is always fresh and in stock. Management always speaking and so friendly. Now I must agree that some workers there does have attitudes BUT that doesn't go for all the workers. You have some ones there with a kind heart and that really enjoys helping their customers I feel safe coming here and I really enjoy coming here. read more

New Grocery pickup Signs are well marked for guiding you to the pick-up area. It was a bumpy ride for the first one or two pickups, but now they have it all worked out. Bonita is like a breath of sunshine, cheerfully delivering my order, dropping off the bonus coupon, encouragement to do a survey "to tell them how they are doing" and a gift bags full of yummy items. The grocery pickers are generally all awesome, considerate and helpful. Although I have to plan for my avocados to have 3 days to ripen, everything else is fresh and usually accurate. I subtracted one star for a couple minor issues. Once when a product came open from the manufacturer and spilled in my car, and once when a substitution was made, it appeared that I was charged for both items according to Walmart website and my receipt. However when I called Walmart about the charge I was reassured that from their end I had not been charged and was not due a refund. It was disconcerting... however the service more than makes up for it - especially because it works with my subscription for e-meals. It's a great duo! I will continue to use this service and encourage others to do so! read more

Compared to other Walmart's the Calera location is great. There is rarely a wait for returns and the checkout lines are short(most of the time). There is rarely ever a wait for self check out. read more

Let's start from the beginning. We are new to the area having moved south from Alabaster. Upon turning into the parking lot from HWY 31 we had to be extremely careful due to way the lanes are set up. Driving through the parking lot, there was an excessive amount of trash and debris littering the ground that made us have to be careful where we parked. We actually witnessed what sounded like a car running over broken glass. When we were walking into the store there was an employee smoking cigarettes right by the door. This was an immediate turn off because we are expecting our first child in 3 months. The smoke was flowing into the entrance and the deli smelled like a dirty ashtray. In fact, the entire grocery section and self checkout smelled this way. We were visiting during restock hours, so understandably the place was a mess. There was not a great selection of the things we normally buy, so we did not stick around long. The good thing is that the self checkouts worked correctly and there was nothing we wanted to buy in stock, so we were able to get in an out quickly. It's well worth the drive to Alabaster or around the corner to Publix... we will actively and aggressively avoid this store. One word.. EW!! read more

I know it was midnight when we arrived, but we had to check ourselves out a Walmart. No one was at any check out. The only lights on were self checkout. They do not try to assist you. They do not care if you are struggling because the self check out sucks. There were so many workers. Restocking the fridges. Shining the floor. Talking. Why can no one help a guest? read more

I'm not a big Walmart shopper. I prefer Publix because of the great sales and awesome coupon policy. If you really compare Walmart to other stores when certain items are on sale, the other stores are usually better. Especially when stores like Publix will double coupons. If you think that Walmart just has great "everyday" prices, then you're only half right. They do for clothes and toiletries, but not for food. If you're in Calera, go to Sav-mor. It's not upscale at all, but the prices are much better. In regards to customer service, it's so-so. I don't expect to be treated like I would if I were staying at a hotel, but I'd like to know that I feel valued. Whatever, it's not the worst. read more

This place is big in my opinion because we don't have "Supercenters" here in California. But before you smirk at me for that, let me tell you that Californians aren't redneck hillbillies and we don't go to Walmart just to hang out. We have people to see and other places to go which are much better than going to Walmart. I prefer going to Target because it's more organized. I was looking at tablets and went to ask for help because the tablets to purchase are behind the counter. There were two people working at the electronics counter, and they were both helping another Walmart employee who was purchasing electronics. Eventually, and while the Walmart employee who was making the purchase was still at the counter, one of the two people working the counter looked at me and said "Yes?". I told this person that I was interested in tablets, and they said "We only have Samsung E, no Samsung A, and walked off. I left after that and bought the tablet I wanted a different store (not Walmart) for $20 less. read more

Creepiest, worst walmart ever. If you go to this walmart, at any time of day, take a gun or some type of weapon with you. The crime here is unbelievable. Otherwise, nothing is ever in stock, the shelves are a mess, and the variety is rather low. Don't go near the makeup section...it is disgusting. Employees are exactly what you'd expect. The parking is horrendous. It is impossible to find a parking spot even remotely near the front at this place. read more

Enjoyed this store in the past but now that they have a new GM it has gone down hill. Today I waited a hour and a half to pickup groceries. Never again will I shop here. I called their support line and they stated it's like this across all stores. Highly doubtful. They didnt offer any compensation for waiting so long so I cancelled my order and will forever be shopping at Publix from now on. Horrible experience read more

Yes the Wal-Mart does get crime, and they have a low selection with wrong price tags, but I'm giving it five stars for one employee. He went above and beyond his job description. I needed a light to put in my closet and I could not find any. He looked high and low, and when he could not find it, he told me he would keep looking and find me when he found it. I left the area briefly after looking again to find something else. When I came back, he actually found me and had the product I was looking for. He double checked the price and everything to make sure I had what I needed. He even offered to run through the store to find anything else I needed. He was super polite and sweet. Can't try on clothes past 10 pm and if you call after that same time no one answers the phone. They might as well only be open to 10 if everything shuts down at this time. They also never have anything in stock and never enough cashiers to check you out. It's a lot easier to just go to Publix or Target in Alabaster. read more

This store is run by fools. The manager will yell at you if you complain. My husband and I took our cars in for regular maintenance this past weekend. I needed the tires rotated and balanced- the wait time was 3+ hours but I anticipated that and planned on dropping off my car and coming back later. We did and dropped off my husband's car for the tires to be rotated and balanced and an oil change. We returned 5 1/2 hours later to find that our tires were done, but they hadn't touched the oil. Apparently it was low and their policy is to not change it if it's low. Did anyone call us? Nope. Not a word. Their store is unorganized, poorly stocked, and dirty. Their produce is disgusting and the personal care products and batteries I have priced are the same or less expensive at Publix. Don't shop here- you can always find better service and prices somewhere else. read more

As I was entering the store late one night there were a lot of guys/employees hovering around the entrance. It was really uncomfortable! Especially since it wasn't during "normal business hours" and the only entrance I could choose from was where all of them were. After entering the store I wasn't able to get to much of what I initially came for since all the isles were blocked. No one made an effort to try to let me through either. Then I was almost hit in the head with a box a manager threw towards a buggy a was walking past!! No apology or recognition it even happened!! I will never return to this location again!!
