Well I went to take back a pair of shoes. They were in perfect condition. I never wore them. I had no receipt so they tried to help me look up my receipt . With no luck because I didn't know what day exactly that I bought them. I paid $44 for them without the tax added. He told me I would get $13 back for the shoes so I kept them. Thing is I went back there in the shoe department and the same shoes that I was trying to take back were $44 but they only wanted to give me 13. Something's wrong with that. To all future customers: I have 2 complaints with this store. 1. Always keep your receipts ppl now are overcharging customers for items twice . I recently purchased 1 crossbody purse and was charged for 2, so I talked with the manager (Scott) about the situatio. So, he had to check the camera to see I was right, a week later I got my refund. 2. I purchased $102 worth of clothing on a Social Security debit card and returned everything with tags attached and receipt. I told the cashier that you cannot add money back on that card... only the government can do that. So again I spoke to the manager (Scott). First, he said you need to wait 10 days too SS your money get on your card. No money. 2nd visit to the store he said you need to wait 30 days to see if your money return on your card. I have never been so disrespected and given the run around about my money being taken from me. I have no choice but to take them to small claims court. They have the merchandise and my $102 refund. This manager need to be FIRED, he has no integrity or skills and go look online for answers instead of calling the social security office. I will not STOP until I get my money back. read more

I had a horrible experience and it needs to b talked about. I go here frequently for earrings and clothes.Today Oct 8 ,2023 was an experience that should never have happened. I was looking for costume pearls( I wanted a certain size) first a employee asked if I needed help ok then I noticed I was followed and watched in the women's department by a make employee ..First off I got bank 2. Dont judge anyone by what they wear 3. B less noticeable . I used to work retail so I know what you were doing. I get it you have loss . I saw this cause many sets were missing pairs. Remember my picture and see I come once or twice a month for earrings that I pay for. Do U need my credit score? My bank account? It was uncalled for . Dont do this nonsense again. read more

I really think the overall brand of JCP has come down over the years. You could find a lot more stuff when you went shopping here in the past. I also think the quality was considerably better. That being said, and comparing it to other JCP locations, this one isn't too bad. One thing that stands out is that it is well organized and it doesn't help that the actual building isn't too old. A lot of JCP locations kind of just have a dingy feel about them, but that isn't the case here. Lights are a little brighter and the floors don't look like they have repurposed an old grocery store and didn't take the time to clean the floors before moving product in. Staff are friendly enough when you interact with them (typically only at check out). Prices are probably a little less than the other department stores that are similar (Belk/Kohls). If you're in the area, I would recommend checking them out if you are looking for clothes or home stuff. Just don't be shocked if they don't have what you need. read more

Today was a day full of errands, one of which was the dreaded bra shopping. I remember as a child, I thought JC Penney was the height of sophistication. Nowadays it's slightly more upscale than Target. Still, I found myself wandering the aisles in search of the perfect boob sling. I'm sad to say the undergarment department no longer has an attendant. I miss the days when a motherly woman would measure you and help you find just the right items to try on. I managed to find what I was looking for, and browsed around for a bit. This particular location has a Sephora, which has the GOT makeup set, which I promptly drooled over and debated dropping a car payment on. Overall, it was an efficient shopping trip. read more

Fairly clean and organized. Better than most clothing stores in the area. And one of the few places I can find clothing to wear that not only fits, but doesn't make me feel like a child trying to squeeze into her mother's clothes. read more

I often shop here for dressy items and casual wear. This particular location has a very small selection for plus sized items and the items they do have are very dated. Their shoe selection is also limited compared to the Galleria location. Usually when I shop this location I'm surprised if I do find something that I like and buy it. read more

This place has become Kmart. It's just not worth it anymore. Ever since they revamped their business practices it has gone downhill.

JCPenney is clothing department store. Men's, women's, boy's, and girl's clothing. Nothing spectacular about this store. Dressing rooms can be scarce and hard to find. Employees can be hard to find. I only saw some when checking out and they where very nice. I wont make a special trip here but if I'm in the area and need something they might have ill check there. read more

This is an awesome JC Penney. It has tremendous sales all the time and the discount racks have some really good bargains. The store has been revamped and is beautiful. It is definitely not a K-Mart as another reviewer posted. I've bought clothes from there for 1/2 of the prices the same clothes at other stores with the same brand. If you can't find anything here, then you just aren't looking and your buying the hype you read on Yahoo. read more

BEWARE! I took an item I wanted to purchase to the checkout counter to pay for it and when they scanned my purchase I was told that the item rang up more than the price on the ticket and I was literally accused of switching the original ticket for a different ticket when it clearly described the actual item that was scanned. I simply told them to view the cameras, I DID NOT SWITCH ANY TICKET! The front end manager made me feel horrible accusung me of something I didnt do. I will never go back to the Alabaster Alabama store and I will tell everyone I know exactly what happened. With many Jcpenney stores closing, with this type of customer service, this location would not be missed. read more
