I'm grateful to have this Publix location nearby. The store is consistently clean and well stopped. The bogos and discounted items are a great bargain. The employees are always friendly and helpful. This visit in particular Deborah was my cashier and she was very kind. I did not catch the name of her bagger but they took the time to see me as a person, not just a customer of the store I visited for carrot cake after going to Aldi and to Edgar's bakery with no luck. I ended up buying some cupcakes for my children that were on sale and also some protein bars for myself. read more

I had terrible phone service in here for starters. So frustrating! Made it tough to check in on Yelp! Other than this minor catastrophe, the store was fine. It was really crowded on the Sunday afternoon I was in there. I mainly was there for the seafood department. They had what I wanted .... Dungeness crab claws!! I had them steamed with ole bay seasoning & they were amazing!! Despite there being a lot of people shopping, I have to say that the inventory was well stocked to handle the crowd. I was also able to pick of some other items that weren't even on my shopping list! The staff I encountered were pleasant and all helpful . The one knock on this store has to be the parking lot. I found it difficult to get out of. So , be careful! read more

Went to Publix in Hoover today for my weekly meal prep list. Unfortunately I chose to go during the corona virus scar. I normally buy 10 lbs of ground beef and a couple roast to cook for my work week. Upon arrival to the meat isle, people were lined up. I waited my turn while the guy in front of me got 16 lbs or more in his buggy. I got my 10 lbs, a chuck roast, a bottom round roast and a pork tenderloin. Upon arrival to the register, the young lady began to ring me up. Half way through an assistant manager, Will, walked up and took 8lbs of ground beef out of my bags and said there was a limit of two. When I told him there was not a sign, he said doesn't matter we just got out of a meeting and now have a limit of two per customer. When I asked about the gentleman that just checked out with 16+ lbs he said, I didn't see him, I saw you. Will essential stole meat that was already rung up out of my bags. I asked to speak the store manager. He presented himself and I told him the situation as Will stood there and stared at me. The manger said there was nothing he could do and there was a limit. When I asked why there was no sign or why customers were not informed, he said he would hang a sign shortly. When I asked about the other gentleman or other customers that had more than two he said, we did not see them, but we will monitor from here forward. He offered me a $25 gift card for the $36.72 worth of meat that Will stole from me but said there was nothing else he could do. I understand limitations during panic times. But you should inform your customers first and you should not take food from their bags. This was very poorly handled. Will not be back to this location. read more

This is my favorite store for curbside pickup and since my child has a compromised immune system, that is all I have been doing for the past 9 months. These guys do it right. I have only once had even the slightest hiccup between the ordering process on the app and the pick up of the groceries. ALWAYS the people who bring the groceries to my car are VERY friendly. It is a little more expensive than going in the store but this is what I have to do for now and it is very helpful to us. So I am totally willing to pay a little more! I find this store really easy to get in and out of and really accessible from the interstate. Check out the BOGO specials on the Publix app to find some good deals! I usually take a look at everything they have BOGO and find some cool items that I would not have noticed before! This is one of the best grocery stores in Bham! read more

Publix has continuously set the bar for what a supermarket should be by offering incredible customer service, great weekly deals (their BOGO deals in particular), and, of course, their incredible subs. I have to say that Publix is my go to supermarket and it is great to see them expanding throughout the southeast. Publix is one of my favorite grocery stores because they consistently (no matter the location) have excellent customer service. My first job was as a cashier at a small family-owned grocery store so I have somewhat high expectations for grocery stores. Publix has trained their employees well because most (if not all) that I've encountered are very friendly, personable, and helpful. I consider Publix the Chick-fil-A of grocery stores and that's high praise coming from me. Publix's deli is great! I've gone and gotten their roasted chicken on many a night to pair with sides I made. This made for a delicious, inexpensive, and quick dinner. Some days you just don't want to cook a feast so Publix's deli has come in handy. Another thing I like about Publix is their BOGO (buy one get one) deals that they have weekly. These deals come in handy when I'm grocery shopping. Lastly, I love that Publix is a huge supporter of the March of Dimes. As the mom of a child who was born prematurely, I think it's awesome that Publix gives back in this way. To wrap this up, I love shopping at Publix and I highly recommend them! read more

Publix rocks. What can I say? If you've been to Publix, you know. If you haven't, go! There aren't a whole lot of variety of super markets in the south for some reason so thankfully Publix is a good choice and this one is no exception. Store is well organized and clean. Staff are just honestly the best. So helpful and friendly. The customer service is fantastic. They bag your groceries for you -- a novelty up north. They will take your buggy to the car and load your groceries in it. No tipping allowed. If you've had their cakes, you know how amazing they are even if they are a bit pricey. Deli is great with Publix brand and Boars Head which is my favorite. The fresh baked bread is good even though the challah bread is not true challah bread. read more

So I don't get into this store very often, but when I do come in I am quickly reminded of the all around quality they provide at this location. First and probably one of the most important things for a store, these guys are exceptionally clean and organized. The produce area is kept well stocked and has always been exceptionally fresh. The aisles are kept clear and floors appear to get cleaned on a regular basis (something that is missed in other grocery style stores in the area). Prices are reasonable (not the cheapest/not the most expensive). If you shop the sales effectively there are many good deals to be had. Staff is very friendly whether you need assistance at customer service, on the aisles finding something, or just checking out. Really great location and stands out in the area for quality and customer service. If you're in the area and need grocery items, hard to go wrong with stopping in here. read more

I've never been treated so rudely by any employee here. Cassie (the cashier), and Kayla (the bagger), were carrying on their private conversation and didn't even acknowledge me. When I asked Cassie to check prices for a couple items, she acted put out by my request. Then, when neither of them understood me that I wanted the items after asking about the price, they both chimed in that they thought I said to put them back. (Not a normal customer service cheerful "I'm sorry - I didn't hear that right!"). To top it off, Cassie was slinging my food across the bagging area, including tomatoes (multiple times!). When I finally got fed up and called her out on it, she said "that's how we do it." Awful experience I hope NEVER to repeat. I'll go out of my way to avoid checking out with either of them again. read more

I am Florida girl. Born and raised where Publix is the best grocery store around and held on a high pedestal. Since we moved to Alabama a year ago I've learned not all stores are the same. This one in particular can't seem to keep anything stocked. On one occasion their were so many items missing that we needed my husband just up and walked out. The produce goes bad in a just 2 days and the Publix subs (which are a huge thing in Florida) are awful. They fall apart on me every time. I've put in a complaint and received feedback from the store manager but really nothing has changed. Here's to hoping we see some improvement soon! read more

This Publix really is fantastic. While it's not right down the street from my house, I will always make the trip to do my regular shopping. The fruit, vegetables, seafood, and meats are always fresh. As far as supermarkets go, it's hard to tell one from the other. I simply find that, not to be the case with Publix. Everyone seems to be so nice and willing to help. I'm a pretty big fan of Publix in the Birmingham area. This one is so so clean and might have the most talented bakery crew in the city. Sundays after church it is always packed with people getting fried chicken with all the great sides. The store has everything you need from a grocery only store. The staff is super friendly. Not enough good things I can say about it. I cant comment on prices because I honestly don't pay attention. If I need it I need it. Stop in and treat yourself to a grocery shopping experience that just feels better then other stores. read more

I love this store. Initially, I was afraid that it would be overpriced and underwhelming in quality, but boy was it convenient. As it turns out, it's also reasonably priced, clean, well-stocked and the staff are all friendly and helpful. I love the cooking demonstration table and the free recipes that go along with it. I go to this location a good bit because it's close to where I babysit. Between getting groceries for my employer and grabbing things for myself before I head home, I appreciate the efficiency and pleasant employees of this Publix. It's almost always busy but the checkout lines always move along fast and the workers are still just so nice and patient with you. I often have to go to customer service and check if they have an item or request an item and they always great me with a smile and often conversate with me while waiting for whoever is checking on my item. Everything is always nice and tidy and stocked as well as it can be for what they actually have in stock. Parking can be a pain but that really ties in to them being so busy all the time. read more

This is a fantastic Publix location. It is near the intersection of John Hawkins Pkwy and I-459. It is not always super busy, but is always very clean. It is also the only Publix I have ever seen with a drive up awning if it is raining outside to load your groceries. I have never been upset at their customer service and they always have sales. They are never short on BOGO sales and this is really a money saver for my family of four. They have great hours and a pharmacy. Overall, I highly recommend this location for your needs. read more

5 stars for choice and variety. 3 for price. There are cheaper options but for what we like Publix is very difficult to beat. Checkout is typically fast and courteous. We buy private farm raised free range poultry as well as grass fed farm raised beef and pork and we get a few things from Wal-Mart but 80% of our groceries come from Publix and that is very unlikely to change. read more
