When I went into this Trader Joe's recently, it felt like they've spread things out, maybe they pared down the inventory for a more spacious feel? I know they have made some changes since it first opened, but it did feel sort of less cluttered. I say that because while the aisles felt wider, the produce less crammed, and a back corner reconfigured, I still have never mastered the art of shopping Trader Joe's. The placement of items seems so random to me, and unituitive. Why are there peanut butter cups and harissa above frozen vegetables? Why are cookies over nearly everything frozen from dinner entrees to breakfasts? It can be a little frustrating for 'compartmental shoppers.' If you want fresh flowers, make sure you go early in the day for the best selection. And if you're going for flowers near the end of the week, be also forewarned that a number of church flower guilds use TJ to create and/or supplement their weekly arrangements because TJ gets some unique flowers in smaller bunches at decent prices. read more

By Trader Joe's standards, this is an easy parking lot. I love shopping here, it's pricing seems fair to me, especially compared to the alternative, Publix. Flower selection is always well-stocked, fresh, and beautiful. They have a good selection of meat, cheese, basic produce, and specialty frozen products. I have some gripes about the layout, but recognize that the model of TJ's is the 'thrill of the hunt.' I would complain, but I know they're doing it on purpose. It's fun. I went most recently on a Sunday morning. Do not recommend. I was dodging cute couples discussing Sunday supper while trying to get through quickly. I like to go at slower times so I have the room to lollygag and loaf about. My recommendations: soup dumplings, frozen mandarin chicken, strawberry licorice, and any other snack that strikes your fancy. I always pick up a couple bottles of the "two buck chuck." The Trader Joe's vineyard, Charles Shaw, is colloquially called "two buck chuck," but has gone up to $4 these days. Still, it's a good enough wine for me. I never go in expecting to find household items. I did not get to check aluminum foil off of my list. Alas, I must hunt some more. How thrilling! read more

I've learned to love and appreciate the crowds of people picking their selections to make floral arrangements as I'm entering the doors. I recently visited Trader Joe's and I didn't have a great experience because of one employee, but the reason I had to publicly write a positive review is because of the way the store's Captain, Alek, responded to my feedback. I don't like to leave negative reviews because I know one person/employee doesn't represent the company, but I want management to know if something is "weirdly" off. This review is all about how Trader Joe's at the Summit went above and beyond to listen to my one concern and responded in a way that displayed excellent customer service and satisfaction. I enjoy shopping at Trader Joe's and I'm looking forward to a new location opening within our area soon. Their stores are always warm and inviting and I love their unique produce options. They are my go to for beautiful Brussel Sprout stalks and their delicious cookie butter. I would love for them to bring back the washable, reusable wine bags circa 2019...but even without those, I will continue to return and shop and Trader Joe's. June 12,2024 11AM Trader Joe's I love you please build a store in Hilton Head SC and Savannah GA! Since the closest store to me is Mount Pleasant, SC I came here with my friend who lives in Pike Road. It's only 1 1/2 hours from her home. She had never been and was apprehensive that it was as wonderful as I said. Well they bowled her over with their products, customer service and kindness. This trip I loaded up on my favorites including the fresh squeezed orange juice that I transported to her house in my cold pack bags. Love the dried fruits, nuts, pita crackers, everything crackers, pita bread,Carolina chips, blueberry muffins, cake mix, spices, hand soap,dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lichen utensils. Also found a new wine I like a moscato. Got another bottle since trying at this location. When we went to check out they even gave us Trader Joe shopping bags. This trip went to the restrooms. Didn't know they even had them. They are unisex. The store itself is very big, clean and bright. Keep up the positive experience just love it! Hope to have a store near me one day soon. Trader Joe's is one of my happy places! You have to make your way through 280 traffic to get there sometimes but it's worth it. Every time I've been the store is clean and they have a pretty nice playlist to jam too. The flower selection is one of my favs, a nice variety that doesn't break the bank. Hanging a fresh eucalyptus plant above my shower head has been a treat! Their unexpected cheddar cheese is the bomb dot com. You can also find me in their frozen food section stocking up on orange chicken, hashbrowns, and prosciutto pizza. The staff is usually spread throughout the isles and available if you have questions. The checkout lines can get a little long if you go during peak hours but they tend to move fast. I advise you to eat before coming because the snack isle is tempting. read more

Upon arriving, I was discouraged because of the line outside of the store. Since I had come too far to trun around, I decided to go ahead and get in line. To my surprise, the line moved pretty fast. Never really thought about going to Trader Joe's due to distance. However, after hearing someone on YT and reading a few reviews on the Mandarin Orange Chicken, I decided to check them out. Nice store, very appealing. Not as big as I pictured it but appeared to be well stocked. I will go back to to take it all in but this trip was for the chicken and an orange the little just had to have. It is more of a specialty Market than a supermarket, what would they do offer is a nice selection of what you probably won't find in your everyday supermarket chain. However, Trader Joe's is a good way to supplement your shopping travels add to make your life a little bit more pleasant with some of their cool offerings. For starters.... I have been really impressed with TJ's response to COVID. They have someone out monitoring how many people are inside the store at a time, they sanitize the buggies, and they make sure their lines are distanced. That of itself deserves the five star rating. But to the actual store, I love the selections and prices here. I can't get everything on my list, but I sure can make a dent. Their products are unique and priced appropriately. I like the chili lime burgers, everything but the bagel salmon, and so much more! Because we aren't located super close to TJ, we stock up when we go. I have to say I come here when in town. They have my favorite wine and I about cried when I was told there was no more on the shelf. The girl went to the back and was gone awhile. She came back with a dolly and asked how many cases do I want... I mean what customer service will look in the back and find wine for you? Only TJ's. Also they were restocking when we were there and I found loads more items to buy. Lots of Christmas candies and specific items are out. If you cannot find the advent calendars ask. We were in the area and wanted to get some items that our local Publix doesn't have. To me, Trader Joe's is more of a... specialty grocery store. It has items that aren't found at other grocery stores, such as swordfish, specialty sauces, etc. It's always neat to come in and see what they have and try different things out. They always have plenty of fresh vegetables, but their meat section is not as big. Their frozen food section is good, and definitely worth checking out. The location isn't the best, as parking and traffic can be an issue at the Summit. The employees here are always very friendly and courteous. They have put in new measures dealing with the corona virus epidemic, but most are the same as at every other grocery stores - limited numbers in the store, hand sanitizer, buggies cleaned as soon as they come in the store, etc. read more

Love love love this store!!! First just full disclosure - don't go anywhere near here during rush hour, lunch hour, weekends if your in a rush, and have no patience. This is 280 traffic. It's jam packed with people who know just how good it is! We just shopped here on a Sunday at 1:00pm and parking was close to full, there were carts available but when you walk in it's a line to get around. I was concerned till I realized the waters parted every aisle I browsed. It was amazing everyone moved politely and safely out of each others way. I got my favorite items quickly and almost effortlessly. The best time to come is morning, weekdays. They have their own brand foods that are very reasonably priced. They also have their famous wine brand Charles Shaw which had been lovingly called Two Buck Chuck. There are lots of rumors how it got it's name but that's for Another day. Great experience at this TJ's! Nice staff, clean restrooms and had everything I needed. I live 2 hours away but inconveniently got addicted to Trader Joe's in the other cities I've lived in, so I had to restock on all the heavy/ shelf stable items. I knew during checkout I'd feel bad for the cashier having to organize all my stuff into boxes and bags. However, Mike was amazing! He was so nice and even offered to help me to it to my car. I totally forgot about Trader Joe's!!! I came to the Summit to pick up an item from another store and passed by, but stopped because I saw the plethora of pumpkins in front of the store. Upon entering there are store associates outside with hand sanitizer ready to give you a squirt. This is the only store that I've been on since the pandemic that does this. They get brownie points in my book for this! We purchase 1 big pumpkin and 2 smaller pumpkins. We also purchase pumpkin muffin mix which my daughter can't wait to try out. They do have a pretty good selection of wine at a reasonable cost too. I will return to shop down the wine isle! read more

The Summit is an odd location for a grocery store, but Trader Joe's is not your typical grocer. TJ's is known for their private label that spans a wide variety of goods. They offer unique, high quality, and relatively inexpensive items. Loyal customers love TJ products, and there is a cult-like following. My wife has been a fan for years so I am pretty familiar with their products. This is my first visit to a TJ store, and I was like a kid in a candy store! It's a very happy and fun supermarket, that has amazing seasonal stuff. I'm so glad we have one in Birmingham. It's always well stocked and organized. Cashiers are the friendliest people in Birmingham. You can find a good selection of cheese, produce, meats, a variety of all their frozen specialities & all their trendy store brand stuff. I'd definitely recommend picking up their frozen Chinese inspired meals like Orange Chicken & Kung pao chicken. These are sometimes better than the stuff you get from the takeout places in town. I also recommend all their essential things like sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, cookie butter, sugar, olive oil, sun dried tomatoes, garlic naan, chocolate bars, seasonal cider. This is my Target..I love just going here and just looking at all the things they have and the things I want to try. They remind you of a inexpensive whole food without the overwhelming of the gigantic building but with the quality of a variety organic selection. When you walk in it's like they are welcoming you with fresh flowers and I always grab a stem or two to walk with why I shop. the tea and organic spices is what I've come to love her..but I don't sleep on their wine section. Love this store!!!! Wish there was one closer to my house. I have about 2 items that I can only get here. Peanut puffs and their own awesome Trader Joe's cookie butter- crunchy of course. This night I went in to get those 2 items and for some reason it was super busy in a Sunday night ? I also needed some Dijon mustard. Unfortunately I had caught then on a really bad night and the shelves were empty of almost everything but they were trying to stock. I asked an employee and he went out of his way to find me some Dijon mustard from all the boxes sitting in the isle! While I hate empty shelves (see target reviews) I do understand that it happens and when an employee goes out of the way to help - that means a lot! The most conscientious grocery store I have experienced. In addition their prices are reasonable and store brand more than favorable. With the virus pandemic they offer a hand sanitizer service where one store employee will spray your hands while the other makes certain you get a sanitized cart. There is another employee who keeps track of the number of patrons going in and out to ensure no more than a certain number of people in the store at one time. Once at the check out lane they have foot prints on the floor to remind customers to keep 6 feet away from the person in front of them. Typically I can tell how well management treats their employees by how industrious and how genuinely helpful the employees assist the consumer. Using these guidelines I'm impressed with how management trains and treat their staff. Thank you for your leadership and service in Birmingham! read more

I have heard some great things about this place! I finally got to visit! I live about 25 minutes away so this was definitely a trip,lol!! I have started a keto diet and wanted to see if they had any items that were keto friendly. The store is clean and well organized! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Prices can be a little higher than you normal grocery stores but this place seems to have high quality foods. I came to this location 1 year ago just to waste time waiting on dinner reservations and I will never forget my daughter was telling everyone in there it was my 31st birthday today, and 3 random people started singing happy bday to me!! Omg! What a neat grocery shop! This is a sister/cousin of Aldi, so you can find similar products here. However, the meat is a tad more expensive--but they do have much more unique products. I love this location. The store employees were so interactive and friendly (my 6 year old even loved going as well as said he had so much fun.) I also appreciate that they have tiny buggies/carts for children. This is in the middle of the Summit, so definitely a more crowded place to go, but definitely worth it on a slightly less busy day. They also have so many different options of produce, which I can appreciate as well. They seem to keep the store cleaned, as well as the scenery is nice, too. They usually have plants outside and inside that you can choose to purchase. I bought tiny red peppers that were superb, as well as a few succulents. Over all, a great experience. read more

I could write a long love letter to Trader Joe's. It's always been there for me when I need it, whether for some delicious pre-made food after an eighty hour week, ice cream for the end of a bad day, or some affordable wine for a girls weekend trip. First off, the produce here is always fresh and they only stock certain fruits at the height of the season for that specific fruit or vegetable. You never have to dig to find a good piece of fruit, they're all fresh and in perfect condition. Second off, the selection of fresh food here is absolutely amazing. I get the salads on a weekly basis, I highly recommend the "southwest" salad, "corn and quinoa" salad (super filling, can even split it into two meals), and "Greek" salad. I also love the wraps, the Cuban wrap is my absolute favorite. Lastly, they have a huge variety of healthy dips and side dishes, my favorites are the hummus sampler and the "Balala" chickpea mix. Now onto the freezer section- my favorite of it all. No other store can compare in terms of the selection of healthy frozen food. If you look at the ingredients on most of the stuff, it's usually only 5-10 ingredients (all of which you can recognize), unlike the list of 30 unrecognizable things I see on most frozen food. My favorites are the chicken tikka masala, the chicken cilantro dumplings, the spanakopita, and "hold the cone" ice cream. I don't like the frozen pizzas they have much, but I think that's just what happens when you attempt to make pizza even slightly healthier. Lastly, check out their flower section. Mostly less than $6, and an absolutely beautiful selection of flowers available. No other store in the area can complete with the freshness of flowers you get for this price. Tips: unless you're a college student, skip the "3 buck chuck" aka the $3 Charles Shaw wine... it does the job, but good luck with the headache you'll get the next morning. Go up a few dollars and get yourself something that both tastes great and won't leave you regretting it the next day... my favorites are "Moscato d'asti" (~$7) and the "pacific grove" Chardonnay (~$6). So cheap, and so good! This store has particularly great customer service. Considering how busy it is, especially in those prime after-work hours from 6pm-8pm, the staff does a great job of keeping lines short and keeping the store stocked and organized. Unlike the California store I used to frequent, I've Never had instances of finding them to be out of the item I want at this location. Also, the staff is incredibly responsive to helping you find items. They know the store like the back of their hand, and are always willing to help. The store workers at the registers are also fantastic, I find them to be very friendly and they always ask you how your day has been. A nice bit of southern charm in the least southern place in town. In summary- if you want friendly and helpful service and a great selection of fresh and frozen products, this is THE place to go. read more
