Do people have really high expectations for their Walmart shopping experiences or something? It's like going to Mcdonald's and complaining their burger isn't freshly made or something. I found my experience here to be pretty much on par with most other Walmarts, but then again I don't expect any of them to have knowledgeable staff in any of the sections, be particularly well organized or have many things put in the right spots, or answer their phones ever, but this Walmart offers exactly what I need (to get in, grab the stuff I wanted, and get out). Maybe the employees are little more clueless than usual, since back home if I ask someone where something is, they drop whatever they do and lead me right to the item (and these people flat out don't know and just give me a guess)...But if you can be picky enough to hate it here, then I guess you can afford to shop elsewhere. I've come on weekend/weekday afternoons and at night, and while it is hectic, busy, with shopping carts and interesting people everywhere, and confused employees, it's honestly pretty average for Walmart, and I found what I needed pretty quickly/eventually. read more

Visited on a Sunday afternoon (BIG mistake, don't do it) and it was overflowing with patrons. Good for Walmart's profits but bad for the average joe who wanted to make a simple return. The Customer Service center only had one associate working and there was 10 plus people in line. I gave up and just went home. Visit this Walmart right when it opens and leave in an hour. Just your typical Wallyworld. They share an area with other stores close by, but there's plenty of parking at the lot! The selection of products are extensive but I feel they food produce selection was rather weak. Crowd-wise, not too terrible. The weeknights are less crowded, but the weekends is what you want to avoid if you don't like crowds and waiting in line to checkout. read more

You can easily find all the things you need and also the areas you are looking for. Walmart is one of the favorite store of many people including me, lots of people keep coming and shopping here compared to other stores around. Their employees are so friendly, nice, and decent. They all know how to assist and guide all of their customers so well. They always willing to help their customers, find the things that customers need, give a hand to those customers who has a big cart and fully loaded. They are so courteous and knowledgeable. Wish I could go ZERO. So they have no shopping carts in the store, except the ones with baby chairs - and when I, and others, start taking those one of the girls at the door starts laughing at us. Really - you can't go get a cart, but you can laugh at customers taking the only carts available!! When I told the manager - she didn't even care - just mentioned they sent someone to get carts. management apparently unaware they should do that BEFORE they run out - and management apparently unaware that laughing at customers should not be tolerated. I've been here a few times and it always ends up being expensive. Saving 2 cents on a few items doesn't make up for someone keying my car or being double charges for a large item. When I questioned the double charge , they said they need to review tapes, which is understandable, but not having anyone employed to review the tapes is a cop out. I have a great experience here at Walmart, this one of the best store in Chicago land, the perfect and affordable store as well. Their staff are so nice and helpful, all of them are professional and knowledgeable. Their location is so easy to find and you go there quickly, they have a huge parking lot, their store are very busy because of the number of their customers every day. But still you can checkout so fast because they have so many cashiers and their staff are so energetic. I like this Walmart better than other stores around the City. Their store are always clean, nice, organized, well-stocked, and lit. All of their items are always up to date, new, and even their meats, veggies, and fruits are always fresh. Always can find all the things that we need for everyday essentials and supplies. I always feel this level of apprehension when or if I have to come here. If it can be avoided I will gladly go elsewhere. It's horrible as if living a nightmare. Can't find anything, walking around in circles, associates point you in random directions until you realize to go to Target and find it right away. Almost every time I go there its at the time they are restocking their shelves, so this feeling of drowning immerses me. Not a fan. Guess what? Worst of the Worst! This place is a joke. Needed a battery for my Honda Accord. Went in and bought a battery. Would not have it installed as they do not speak english properly. All the mechanics are ignorant and do not speak proper english, let alone let them put a battery in your car! The Guy named John behind the counter in auto, could care less about a person with a new battery on the counter. He was doing nothing, but I had to beg him to ring up a purchase. I am capable of installing a battery so I recorded the radio code and installed the battery at my house. Installed the battery at 10AM and was back at the store to return the old battery by 11AM. You always get charged a "Core Charge" until you return the old battery. So when I came back into the auto center they could care less. So I talked to John and he said he cannot process the return of the old battery. I said Why? He said that they need to call a CSM which is a manager who can take a return. I waited over 20 minutes for a manager to come and refund the Core return to my Amex. Meanwhile they have people who are answering the telephone while your standing there fuming. No one cares and I don't plan to ever go back to this store. At best they are ignorant, at worst, Incompetent. I would not let these guys fix me a sandwich or fill my tire with air, let alone mount and balance a tire or install a battery! read more

I know I may get some flack for this, but I love Walmart: the cheap prices, the massive selection, and the awesome opportunities for people watching (so much diversity). I feel like it's the perfect microcosm of America (big, economical, diverse), and since I love America, I do have a fondness for this super economical giant. I come here to buy what economists call "durable goods," ex: Corelle plates, Tupperware, and wiper blades. I also get my oil changes here. Definitely don't come here for the food as the selection is super limited. This one in particular is quite crowded, I recommend the Walmart on Golf as they have a better layout, more selection, and is less packed. I came here to have my tires replaced and ended up on the side of the road multiple times two days later with THREE flat tires on the interstate. I had to receive over $100 dollars in repairs to my valve stem sensors that had been damaged upon installation of the new tires at Walmart. This store and corporate refused to refund me anything nor pay my repairs. They also informed me that Walmart auto centers are not staffed by licensed mechanics, but by TECHNICIANS, and that they can't do anything but take off and put on my tire. They won't even tell me if there is a safety issue, and per the disclosures on the receipt, Walmart suggests that the owner of the vehicle inspect the vehicle and tires for safety after installation. Insane. An additional note: the customer service at this store was horrendous and they treated me like scum. The line took a minimum of 45 minutes every time, and the workers and managers (except for one- Anthony) were extremely rude and mean to me and acted like I was stupid. Close to my house....busy most of the time...even late at night. The employees ar friendly enough, but I htink they should open up more registers. Alot of times I think this place needs to be better organized, but I go later at night nowadays so I dont have to see alot of people and they usually have lappets down to restock stuff. The eyeglass pace in there has helpful staff..and there is a flukys and now a hair salon for women. But for what it is ...it works for what I need. Their inventory is all screwed up and the inventory that is listed online does not match what it's in the store. I drove there twice for nothing. I always checked online to verify availability before making the trip. Walmart.com had 2 quantities of the product listed "in stock" at this location. I drove there and items were NOT available at the store. They were supposed to be locked inside sporting goods case. The manager of that department (John?) has no clue what's going on and comes up with odd excuses. So what is exactly going on ??? Only logical explanation: 1) people who list inventory online can't count and list more than there actually is available for physical purchase at the store. 2) Employee theft. This Walmart is easy to see and it has a large parking lot but it gets busy specially during the weekend. Regardless I was able to find gift bags and cards easy and inexpensive. This is the most frustrating Walmart. I ordered an item for same day pickup. After 7 hours I called to see if it was ready. Trying to get someone on the phone was hard enough, then they transferred me to the pickup department where no one ever answered. I called back and after multiple attempts finally got customer service on the phone, I asked to speak to a manager but they were off. There was an assistant manger that could talk to that was no help at all. The next day I still didn't get an alert my item was ready. I attempted to call again. After multiple attempts and being put on hold I asked for a manager, only this time they just said there was no manager in the store. Once again I attempted to try to locate my item, finally a gentleman said he would look for it. I finally got a call back saying I could pick it up. Everyone knows you go here for the low prices but after this last experience I will take my money to Target. I made a purchase on Christmas Eve that included a warranty. Somewhere in my move the receipt was lost. Well of course that item has stopped working and now I need to exchange it. I have the box but no receipt. I have followed ALL of the steps given by corporate but of course the store cannot find the receipt even though I have showed everything including bank statements to prove I made the purchase at THEIR STORE. For the first time in my Yelp life, I wished there were more positive stars! I know exactly what you're thinking: "How could any sane Yelper rate Wal-Mart higher than a 2?" Actually, I'm just rating the Vision Center. It may be in a Wal-Mart, but I consider it a diamond in a .. retail store of obscene size with predatory price appeal. I'm not writing to bash Wal-Mart. After all, don't you agree it gets old after a while? Here's the deal. I am a broke and uninsured future student. My eye sight is worst than anyone's, except Stevie Wonder. (Isn't it ironic that one of his biggest hits is "You're My Sunshine Of My Life"? Hmm, I guess he can FEEL sunlight.) In any case, my former contacts (Frequency 55 Toric) were HELL. Everything beyond 6 feet was blurry. The contacts dried my eyes out within three hours, AND I could feel them. It became very annoying. Anyway, I researched the interwebs for an affordable optometrist. Every website recommended Wal-Mart. I decided to risk my eyes and head to the Wal-Mart in Niles. The Vision Center is at the front of the store. You can't miss it unless you're blind. (Hah.. erm..) The store -only- accepts walk-ins. In other words, bring reading material on Saturdays. I came on a Wednesday morning so I didn't have to wait at all. After completing a few forms, I was taken to a room for what I call three "pre-tests". The Visual Field test is especially fun if you're trigger-happy. After another short wait, I went to the exam room and met Dr. Scott Ford. He is very personable and friendly. In other words, wicked awesome and reminds me of Tony Kornheiser (who is awesome too). I was surprised how comprehensive the exam was. Dr. Scott discovered that my previous eye doctor issued an over-powered prescription. If you transported me to this vision center, I would mistaken it for a private office. (Almost. The countless cash registers outside the center is a dead giveaway.) I haven't purchased my contact lenses yet. Having very poor eye sight comes at a cost. Everything is pricier. However, their prices are reasonable. Do you know how much my exam was? Just take a guess. Well, you guessed wrong. It was $79. For a quality exam, that's quite a bargain. The exam for glasses was around or less than $50. I have to return in a few weeks to get new lenses for my glasses. By the way, another plus about this place is that they don't push you (too much or if at all) into purchasing products unlike other optical chain stores. For you Yelp review scanners, here's the experience in a nutshell: The services here are quality. Dr. Scott Ford is professional, yet he possesses quite a warm personality that most doctors lack these days. (He called me "special", as "in need of -special- lenses to correct her terrible, horrible vision.") The prices are more than reasonable. I know that by even entering a Walmart, a sacraficail puppy was probably killed somewhere in my honor. I was with my mom looking for a stationary bike for her, I offered to help her carry it, I had no idea we were going to Walmart. Holy Shit! I am lucky to say I have only been to one other Walmart while I was a college student living in Urbana, hard up for some laundry bags. Why do people shop here? Is it the: 1. Screaming children that fell on my feet, hit me with their cart, and laid across the isles? 2. The several open bottles of soda all over the store that people had opened and drank from, then left on the floor. 6. Or the 20 minute wait in line while someone protested the prices on every item they were buying. All the other lines had similar situations taking place. So after failing my eye exam for my Illinois driving license I figured it's about time to find out if everything is SUPPOSED to be slightly blurry or if I needed glasses. I waiting about 10 minutes on a Friday afternoon - not bad at all - and the doctor was so plesant. Since I've "never had vision problems before" (in reality I've had them since late teens) I didn't know what questions to ask and was pretty baffeled. The doctor answered all the questions I didn't know to ask. Afterwards, I needed to pick out some frames and the sales guy was so helpful and suggested important features that I didn't know existed like glare free lenses since he knew I worked on a computer all day at work. I ended up getting 2 pairs of glasses, both with glare free and scratch resistent lenses, and the eye exam - total = $474. The exam was $44.00. They put a rush on one set of glasses and I had them in 5 days - the other set took 8 days. I will definately go here if I have issues again. read more

Secondly, there are too many running, screaming children who need to be handcuffed to a post somewhere until they learn how to SHUT UP and act properly in public. I don't even know where to begin. This place is a madhouse, a madhouse I tell ya! I have never been to a Walmart that was THIS unorganized, which causes for people coming at you from all directions. I'm disappointed Yelp won't let you leave zero stars for reviews, as it stands I can only give this location one star for being open 24 hours, scratch that, as of July 7th, 2013 its no longer a 24 hour location. What can I say that's any different than the other one star reviews, and the sparse two star reviews, I suspect the token five star reviews are from the Walmart manager's moms who thought all these negative (but spot-on) reviews would look bad on her son's or daughter's future career prospects with the boys and girls in Bentonville. If you've been living under a rock, (or too busy cooking meth in the Walmart men's bathroom) Walmart has been running commercials touting how their prices are 20% lower than Jewel. If you've shopped at the Jewel grocery store directly across the street from this Walmart, you'll know this isn't a hard task to accomplish.The difference between the Jewel and Walmart, At Jewel you can actually find employees that speak english and know where in the store the items are. Over the years I've been to hundreds of Walmart's around the U.S. and Canada, in towns so small the Walmart superstores also serves as the community center, this location in Niles is not one of those stores. In talking to friends, they agree with my assessment that the Niles Walmart on Touhy is the HVT (High-Value Target) Walmart, Print out the homepage for the Rewards for Justice website and you'll likely have a better chance of finding the #2, #3, and #5 heads of Al Qaeda shopping here, than say a six man JSOC team scouting all the caves in Berzerkistan. Other things to ponder if you find yourself visiting this location, What is that smell when you pass the threshold of the front door? Why can you find more people barking into their phones on Bluetooth headsets at all hours here than anywhere else in the suburbs, and is there a Stargate like wormhole that transports all these people to shop?!? in this Walmart. Which begs my question, why is this location still open, is this the gulag Walmart store for the Midwest? Avoid this Walmart at all costs! read more

This store sucks. Note: I have an anti-Wallmart bias, however, I tried to keep an open mind on the few occasions I visited this store. This store is seriously lacking something. It is always crowded, the employees are rude, the vast majority of shoppers are sheeple, they never have what you need... and the aisles are always too damn narrow to be useful. I used to shop here for party supplies for school related events. I was forced to stop this practice after my club's vice president nearly suffered a severe head injury caused by falling coffee cans improperly stacked on the top shelf. After that incident, we decided that Cub foods (now closed) would be a better alternative than this (Spr)Wally world. If you need to get stuff cheap, try the Costco further down the street, or go to a better store (i.e. Target, Meijer, Woodmans, Jewel...). read more

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Against my better judgment I did another site to store order here, only because the location on Touhy in Skokie didn't have the item in stock and I wanted it same day. Once again, it took forever (30+ minutes) to pick up the item. The only employee in the area was on her cell phone talking in the waiting area. Several stock employees came by but said nothing. I kept hitting the "ring for service" page button and it set off an employee pager that was sitting on the counter unattended. Another employee came by, asked if I had been helped and then hit the same page button and walked away (thanks, cuz that really worked well). Finally someone who had just arrived for their shift and wasn't even wearing the blue vest yet asked if I was being helped. I said no, they went into the bathroom and came out in the Walmart uniform, and said they'd find someone. 5 minutes later someone came back (same chick who was on her cell phone when I first showed up), so thanks to the bathroom dude who hadn't clocked in yet for getting someone. Never ever again doing a site-to-store order here. The Golf road and Skokie stores are much better and worth waiting a day or two for the item to get shipped if needed than deal with the incompetent people at the Niles store. read more
