The wonderful clerk in returns gave me 5 star service! She had a wonderful disposition while giving me bad news. Unfortunately, she had to explain to me the policy of stamps for the returns, even though I had my receipt. If management would like her info, reach out to me. I still have my receipt. I normally pop in and out of Walmart if I need anything & have minimal contact with the staff except the cashier. Today 4 out of the 5 contacts I made with Walmart team members were trainable examples of what not to do with your customers. This store has you do photo orders that say ready in an hour, and then calls you to say they don't have the product in stock later in the day to cancel your order. And good luck when you call the store and talk with the operator; 5 mins sitting on hold while she looked for a connection number to the photo center and then disconnects on you. The bar for service is fairly low at any big chain box store, but this location manages to underachieve even the lowest expectations. I'll add, cvs photo was able to accomplish in less than one hour what your store ran circles for several hours accomplishing nothing. Go there any day before this Walmart. read more

I wasn't aware they made low top Walmarts. It's basically a mixture between Harbor Freight and 7-11. Harbor Freight racks and 7-11 selection and roof height. I am not a claustrophobe, but even CVS's have taller ceilings. if you can't fit 2 carts in an isle it's a problem, you can't just cram more stuff into an already small location. The parking, or dedicated parking is surprisingly small, as is the entrance area. Plenty of space for self check out. Greeters are about as lazy as they come. Not only do you have to initiate the greeting, but even initiate acknowledgement. I get that it's not a pleasant job, but way to make it more like the DMV. Prices are decent, selection is limited and the layout must have been done by the same people that do the city planning for the City of La Mesa. Obviously the typical rules of increasing visibility on sale items don't apply here because your just trying to find your way. I walked half the store just looking for 1 item because stuff is everywhere. They need to also do the demonstrations (a la Costco) in an area that can hold a crowd and not in the busiest corner of the whole place. If Target wasn't as tucked away as it is and Walmart still not the cheapest around I would never come here and it's still highly doubtful I'll be returning. It was actually kind of clean, but surprisingly hot. Basic décor and forgettable service. Not the worst or the best (still a relative term), but I have a new saying when I do find the worst Walmart around " You are the Walmart of Walmarts" read more

This place still haunts me in my sleep. We were looking for a new steam vac for our carpet. We went to this one since it says online that they had it at that particular store. We decided to call them and double check and the person the phone was a complete moron and couldn't tell us if there was one there and we were transferred to the most random people and even got yelled at by a lady with a really strong southern accent that we're calling the wrong department. EXCUSE ME, LADY! Your idiotic fool of a coworker transferred us to your stupid department! So we drove and made our hike there and I was pretty shock as to what I was in for. I know that personally, Walmart is one of the most successful stores because they hire people who are in their deathbeds so they can be written as the beneficiary, I know because I got my degree in Journalism and this was taught during my Law of the Press class. Anyway, the coworkers looked more handicapped here than any other Walmart I've ever been to. I was rather scared, there was even one guy with a glass eye, but the eye was bulging out of his face. Another associate had a hunchback! I don't mean to be mean, but I was just really freaked out walking through there and I didn't want to believe that this was really happening and that MAYBE they were already dressed for Halloween. So we walk to the houseware section and couldn't find the vacuum, so we decided to ask an employee there. He didn't EVEN KNOW WHAT AN APPLIANCE IS! He replied "appliances? what's that?" Thanks anyway, moron! We decided to walk away from him and found it ourselves. It wasn't available in a box, so we asked if we can get the model. I went shopping here around 9pm two nights ago its not really crowded by customers around this time. I had a list ready i really don't like to waste time. The staff looked like was all hands on deck. I stay out of their way. In the first floor heading towards the corner of cosmetics they had pallets lined up back to back all the way from towards the entrance to the very back. si no space to cut in between those aisles but the all the pallets contents were accessible so they really aren't on the way they're obviously stocking up at this time it's understandable. i was heading to the cosmetics where the razors are and what not almost there pushing my cart and im not the kind of shopper that floats around i go get what i me and get out. At the very end of the long row of pallets there was two older lady workers both putting the label or price on the Same item standing on the way behind them there was a broom and dustpan. the way was blocked. I walked up slowly saying excuse me politely had to repeat my self like five times and waited a little they didn't even turn to acknowledge me completely ignored me. Behind me another older staff lady was walking up. the third worker. and herd me saying excuse me and she walked up to stand with them and tells me it be faster if i just walk around. Like if i was stupid To not see that they was Busy. Almost rolling her eyes at me the other two turned to me with a look like yeah wtf all annoyed. I just said oh I'm sorry you want me to walk all the way around instead of just letting me pass to get something that's like right there? i said y'all don't make any sense and went to pay for what i was allowed to grab. Mask nazis. If you have a legal medical exemption they will lecture you and make you feel like a criminal. They do not value their customers at all. If that doesn't convince you, just look at how much restocking they do while the store is at its busiest. As if it's not hard enough to navigate the aisles, there is always a huge cart in each one that you have to try to get around during peak shopping times. I went to Walmart and they had a Hamilton Beach microwave 3 different colors and they wanted $69 for the black and grey but for the stainless steel they wanted $75 but it was the same microwave they could not tell me why they wanted to charge me that much in I had ice for a supervisor there a supervisor came out and her name was Theresa and she was one of the best supervisors ever she took controller to situation very nice explain to me why and what needed to be done but at the end of the day she had given me but microwave for the pricing of the other because it made no sense to me and so she did great customer service and took care of me also a lady Kim there at the store going to the managers with also great this is one of the great Walmart to go to if you ever need help and if you ever want good service this is the Walmart to go thank you Theresa for helping me out read more

Here's a story about the time this Wal-mart saved my troubles! It was last weekend when my husband and I went up to the Barona drag strip. Everything was going fine until his distributor went out and we were stuck! There we were trying to find auto part stores that was still open. Luckily I drove out there with the truck and we had a tow hitch at home, but no tow ball...It was getting late and I said "hey! let's go to the 24hour wal-mart in grossmont. This is probably the least ghetto Wal-Mart I've been to and the cleanest. But I'm giving it 5 stars because I'm crazy about puppy accessories and they have a huge section dedicated to puppy clothes and other fun items for a great value! In addition to that, they're super super cute! Other nice things: It's by Grossmont Center so you can visit other stores while you're at wal-mart. You aren't trapped there and if you feel suffocated, walk around grossmont and look at puppies, books, watch a movie, shop for jewelry, etc. read more

If I could give this Walmart negative star I would! Mariana stated that she was a customer services manager while she did not even know how to be one! She was very rude and disrespectful. Showing racism right in front of customers! She rolled her eyes and unwilling to assist and help. She basically insulting customers in front of her own workers as well as other customers when the customer was showing her it's their store problem on not putting items into the system correctly. Customer was showing the price listed on Walmart.com as well as showing the barcode listed in the store with pictures showing where the items and the price of the items with barcode patiently. I found the staff to be a bit lacking in customer service the other day. My cashier literally glared at me and then when I got cash over and asked for two ten dollar bills, she said, "if I have them." I look up to take my receipt and she gave me a twenty. The items in the store are actually pretty good. I used to come her regularly for supplies. For example they had a really inexpensive low grain kitten food, and that's hard to find. And their Danskin workout wear is a good deal and comfortable. Not to mention a pretty large selection of vitamins of all things. BUT, when a store becomes this shopper unfriendly, if not hostile, I start buying the stuff online. And it is a fairly recent thing. I can remember the folks, for example, in the garden dept., being quite helpful and friendly at one time. Somewhere around the holidays I noticed I couldn't take the cart into the rest of the mall, a great inconvenience during holiday shopping, and something Target and Cost plus doesn't alienate customers with. Then I noticed when I went in the evenings, no matter how early, they were stocking for some reason. After being boxed in by snickering stockers and their palettes for the third time, I decided I was too tired for this, threw back what I was about to purchase and left. Worse they had compromised my safety by closing off the entrance to their parking lot, Forcing me to walk all the way around the isolated perimeter of the huge badly lit box store. At least I could take the cart. And then there's the lines, and the miserable employees. . . Is this the only company that gets self-defeatingly cheaper as it gets richer? read more

The prices are good, but the staff are not willing to help and the lines are too long for my liking. I think it's a smarter decision to walk down to target in Grossmont center which is just on the other end of the mall. The thing is target is only a little more expensive, but you save tons of time. So, if you're like myself and value time I would skip out on this shop. But, if you've got nothing going on then I guess shopping here would be the better option.
