Extremely displeased with my experience here. I was at work, after I was off I was supposed to go…read moreto Midas for recommended work that I needed, but the day before I had hit something in the road, didn't think anything of it as I drove home fine, but that thing slashed my gas tank and my car was just leaking and my work parking lot stunk of gasoline. Considering I was going to Midas anyway, I called them and had them have it towed over to the shop, I only work a few blocks away. Great, it was towed, they did a diagnostic, figured out what was wrong and got back to me that Saturday. Sunday they are closed and I was on vacation for the entire next week. Someday the next week I get a call with my estimate. $5k+. Holy shit. I will admit, I am only 18 so may be a little young and dumb, so I approved the work my car needed. Then made an insurance claim because I can not afford this. Fast forward to the next Monday, I am home from vacation. I call Midas, they say insurance just showed up, okay great. Insurance calls me, she does not think I should have my work done here. Ummmm okay... Midas was trying to charge me $2,500 for a new gas tank on my 2021 Mazda 3, they had told my insurance lady they got it from Mazda (it was still being shipped), she says she found one OEM straight from Mazda for less than $1,000, or even a used one for $300. They told her after that the gas tank was actually from O'Reilly down the road, and they had ordered it from a dealership. Wtf? Never was I even given the option to have a brand new tank ordered or a used one... Theres a lot to this ordeal, they also "missed" dents in my exhaust pipe and other metal, told insurance shes got a good eye for noticing it that fast.... I went in and under my car and anyone could tell that it wasnt right. Also could not give documentation of my tow or tell insurance who picked my car up. Anyways, insurance told me to decline anymore work on my car, so I did, Midas says they dont know if the tank and the valve pipe they ordered (that I did not necessarily need in the moment, they added it because they said I would most likely need it) is returnable or refundable. I wait, takes 2 days for Willie to get a call back from his vendor. Whatever, both items are returnable! Yay! Except I have to a pay a restock fee of $250 for the gas tank. Insurance wants an invoice. Midas cant provide... Fishy. Willie says he doesnt have an invoice and doesn't give out his personal invoice. Considering the tank was from OReilly we need it from them. Insurance calls them, and I believe they didnt or couldnt provide it either. Weirdddd. Ins calls another O'Reilly location to confirm that they do even recieve an invoice for returns/restock fees. They do. But for like $140. So why am I being charged by Midas for $250. End of story I still pay my original work I needed done, the tow, and the fee which was all $900+ because I was fed up and DONE with Midas.
I don't know if other people have experienced this, but I and everyone around me believe I was taken advantage of because of the fact I am a young female, and I came in alone with no parent. Disappointing.
