They are honest. I thought I needed new wheel bearings and they said they were good and didn't need to be changed. They have also helped me with random stuff for free sometimes. read more

I love the email updates! This is the ONLY way to mechanic! Who wants to listen to someone mumble around struts, compression, coils, and other odd terms? They quickly set me up to check out my suspension issue, had initially given me all the quotes on what they might attempt, alignment, diagnosis; next day I was surprised to find an entire email detailing their recommended work. The value is right between your basic good ole boy and a stealership. Fair enough, glad to have not only a highly recommended shop option but an enjoyable staff too. They're only missing a waiting room with weird sparkling water and Aldi beverages in a cooler! read more

100% top quality work and customer service. They genuinely care about customers and the customer experience. No pressure upsell. If your car needs something, then they'll let you know, no hidden costs or safety-shaming like a lot of garages. You know when some service advisors they try telling you your cabin air filter is dirty and you're poisoning your family or that your windshield wipers are going to get you killed. They took care of my Purdue student and his first experience of getting a car serviced on his own, and took the confusion out of the experience, gave him a nice discount even. Highest recommendations. read more

I was on an extended road trip and happened to stop in the area for a bite to eat and all of a sudden all my oil was on the ground! Managed to get it to Beck's and dropped my key in the after-hours key drop. Caleb and team got to it when they opened, identified the issue quickly, and got me back on the road the next morning! I was impressed with their thoroughness, professionalism, and a nice clean shop. Special thanks to Dallas A. for doing great work! If I lived in the area Beck's would definitely be my go-to mechanic shop! Thanks y'all! read more

Beck's Auto Center - My car marking its territory in Beck's parking lot - Auto Repair Near Me - Lafayette, Indiana

I am unfamiliar with the area and had an issue with my engine overheating while on a 10 Hour road trip to Virginia. I stopped by Beck's Auto Center because of the good reviews and the team immediately made sure that I was helped. They were very nice and very efficient. I would 100% recommend. read more

The team at Becks were first class and very professional. Would definitely recommend them.

Great service & staff. Never had any problems with them i always bring my Subaru to get work done there and have been satisfied every time.

I cannot say enough good things about Beck's! Their customer service is unmatched and they truly go above and beyond to take the stress out of car repairs. They give you the estimate upfront for diagnostics, and in advance of the repair itself. I highly recommend them! read more

Not happy at all! Took in my car for a tire tobe mounted and balanced and to have the cabin air filter checked to see if it needed changed. I was told $61 if they replaced the cabin air filter and Roughly a 45 min wait. I left went to subway nearby and got lunch. I was called and told that if they were going to take the time to check my cabin air filter they were going to change it and it would actually be $75 because it was "difficult to get to". I said that's fine. 15 mins later I get another call and I'm told that the tire I supplied which was used had a hole in it and the had to fix that and it would not be $90! I came back and watch for a good 20 mins and not one soul was working on my car. Ended up being nearly 2 hours. So cost me more money and time then originally quoted. Service advisor was kinda a dick to. WONT BE BACK! I'm also guessing it cost a little more to have them clean up after themselves! But what can you expect when they "don't enjoy you as a customer "! The owner later responded to my review below and stated he didn't enjoy me as a customer! He did enjoy taking my $$$! read more

I had a great experience with Beck's! I go to school in the area and had no idea where to take my car. I went into Beck's and Jeff helped me at the counter and walked me through their whole process. He was super helpful and very nice. Ben communicated with me throughout the process and they gave me a full rundown of all the issues on my car. They gave me the option to accept or decline any of the services on my car so I could choose what I wanted fixed and everything was priced very reasonably. They were able to fix all the issues with my car the same day! Overall fantastic experience with everyone at Becks! Would highly recommend! read more

I made an appointment at Beck's Auto Center in Lafayette, IN on September 9th, 2019. When I got there to drop my car off, I went inside and told Rob I had an appointment at 4pm. He already seemed frustrated and seemed to take it out on me and my friend. My friend told him that there was a warranty for the car, and he seemed annoyed about it. Then Rob asked for the policy number and turned around from us and walked away.. We gave him the information the warranty company gave us. Rob said it was gonna take about 45 minutes for the service. They called 50 minutes later to just tell us that they hadn't even started on the car, and that they have been on the phone this whole time and still haven't figured out the warranty. I am confused on why they would wait so long to call to update us on the issue. (We were expecting to have it almost or if not all the way finished at this time). When Rob finally did call back, he rudely told me that I did not give him the right information. We then gave him the information that he needed, but at the end of the conversation he told me that they couldn't do anything more today because at that time the warranty call center was probably closed. I asked if i was going to have to leave my car there or if i could come pick it up, his reply was "Yeah, we haven't even touched your car". When I was arriving to the shop, I passed Rob in his truck as he was leaving, he looked right at me, rolled his eyes and shook his head with annoyance. So today, September 10th, I called back and talked to Ben, and he said he called the warranty company again. He gave them the information we provided. He then told us that the information that they asked for and we gave was also not 100% correct. When we gave more information that he asked for, he let me know that he would call back with the new estimate. When he called back he said that the warranty would cover some of it. I was glad to know that finally my car was going to get fixed. But my troubles were not over. When I first called and got my estimate they said it would be around $138. Today AFTER he told me that the warranty would cover some of the cost somehow the estimate was MORE $150ish. When I asked why it came out to be more, his answer was "Because we spent 3/4 an hour on the phone with the warranty company". I was SHOCKED! I have never heard of any car shop trying to charge for this. I will NEVER recommend Beck's Auto Center to anyone. They are EXTREMELY RUDE, completely made me feel horrible for not understanding THEIR profession. And apparently they come up with random policies to charge you for. read more

This place is the best. My beau uses them and has always said nice things. So I gave them a call when my chin spoiler needed replaced. And asked if I had it sent to them, if they would install it. They said yes. I also go an oil change while they had the car. I was able to drop the car off the night before. They sent me texts with updates. Sent the bill so I could pay it right on my phone. Everyone was super polite on the phone. I defiantly recommend them to anyone in and around Lafayette. read more

We have claimed Beck's as our family auto repair, with good reason. They are always CUSTOMER first, with quotes, repairs, easy to understand comprehensive invoicing, with super customer service. We have had my car in two different times, and Jeff was right on it getting info and best pricing to us, offering options. We also love that they take it "one-step-at-a-time" rather than tying to hook the customer with bank breaking overkill.. ALL the folks there deserve mega kudos! We can't thank them enough, and will not go any place else for either of our vehicles. read more

I just moved to town, from out of state, and one of the uneasiest things for a woman to deal with is finding a new auto mechanic. Fortunately, I do have a male friend in the area, who recommended Becks. At this time, (which was early June of 2020) they were still following Covid guidelines, which meant I had to wait outside and no shuttle service. Well, thankfully it was a nice day and they had a nice outdoor area to sit in.There is also a Subway in that little strip mall. I absolutely marveled at the expediency with which they checked my car, and went over things with me, as far as what I wanted to approve, and then fixed it. No dawdling, they got the job done. While talking to a woman outside, she told me she had been going there for years, and their honesty and helpfulness is what clinched it for her. My friend told me that they may not be the cheapest in town (though I thought the price was fair) their "goal" is preventive maintenance to keep your car from breaking down at the side of the road. Well, so far so good, and I'll be back. And they really are very nice. My phone was almost dead and one of the guys had no problem charging it up in the store for me and keeping an eye on it. read more

My car started acting up again. With the chaos of life, work, and kids with busy schedules, I can't even begin to say how much it means to have trustworthy mechanics looking out for the safety of my family! Thanks, Beck's! read more

We used this auto center twice. One for brake and the other for battery. Other than the reasonable price in my experience and discounts, the service and continuing check-in made us more comfortable. During Covid, they do non-contact service which we parked at the front lot and they parked at the same place after the repair. Overall I recommend this place for auto repair. read more

I have had a wonderful experience at Becks auto before. They did a rear pinion seal on my truck a few months back. When the pinion seal was done, the nut was overtorqued, which caused the yoke to break. I assumed the pinion seal just went bad and had another shop (that maintains my fleet of trucks now & is very trustworthy. Not a hole in the wall shop trying for money.) After this shop broke into things, I was quickly informed that the pinion seal was not the issue. The issue was that the nut was overtorqued and cause the yoke to break which in turn caused the pinion seal to tear and leak. That shop then fixed the problem and replaced what needed to be replaced. I picked my truck up, and brought the paperwork over to Becks after they called the mechanic. Becks did not have any issue reimbursing me for the repairs as it wasn't done properly to begin with. I commend Becks for their wonderful customer service and willingness to help make things right. Marc in particular has done a phenomenal job and is awesome to work with. Thank you Becks Auto! read more

My car wasn't starting because of a bad starter, and I got stranded in West Lafayette. I brought it here after looking at local auto repair reviews and am glad I did. After coordinating with them over the phone, I brought my car in and they had it ready the same day. They were helpful and friendly throughout. However, the main reason I'm giving them 5 stars is because of the information they gave me after inquiring about my AC repair. The AC compressor in my car has gone bad and I need the whole system replaced. I had brought my car into a different auto repair shop to look into AC repair and had been quoted a flat price. The guys at Beck's had informed me of different options for AC replacements such as scraps and getting something brand new. We went through the different options and the different prices. I found I trusted them more after they had explained the process with me. At least more than the other shop had done. read more

Great job. Major engine work was performed along with maintenance items. Repairs were done in a timely fashion and the total price was exactly as quoted read more

I didn't know what to expect from the website/other yelp reviews, but this is a fully fledged repair shop with multiple service bays and mechanics. It's run a little like a Firestone- a couple guys running the front desk and no interaction with the mechanics, but the front desk guys seem to know enough at least to understand the mechanics notes. I was able to quickly schedule an appointment to diagnose an engine light. Staff were friendly and seemingly knowledgeable, and followed my requests for waiting or my approval before any actual labor. They discovered two issues- one related to the engine light and one just in passing, but when I pressed for how hard they looked for the cause of the engine light they said they were very busy and didn't have time for "complementary" service checks, which was odd because I was paying for a diagnostic and want to make sure that if I make this large and expensive repair that it will fix the issue. To my knowledge, the part they say needs replacing can only be inspected with body elements removed, so if they truly were too busy to look for more than one cause I am hesitant to believe they had time to truly inspect this part. Rating would be 5 stars, but when charging for parts they add overhead costs (my $50 part was quoted for $70, from the same source) which is an odd thing to do in the age of the internet where I can quote things myself. I will probably return for labor, but source parts myself. read more

I had looked for a reliable facility in Lafayette for a long time before I settled on Becks. My dad has always been the one I took my car too for repairs and in recent years he hasn't been able to assist like he use to. The took care of my like only a local shop can, listening to my concerns before coming to conclusions about what was going on. They never made me feel dumb about allowing my poor Buick to be drove so long on bad struts or pressured to spend money on things they suggested. I will continue to use Beck's as will others in my family for all our automotive needs! read more

Took my car in here last Friday prepared to drop $500+ on a new wheel bearing and all the accoutrements. The issue ended up being a hair under $100. Their honesty and friendliness *almost* makes me hope my car fails again soon so I can hang out. ;) HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

In response to Rob's comment: Hi Rob, Why didn't you tell the truth I actually rescheduled these 2 appointments, instead of missing them? I don't know why you were being so misleading. Why did you evade the fact that I was able to drive my car to your auto-repair store without any difficulty, but I had to get it towed to another transmission repair store after your inspection? You were talking about data, this is it. Why not your explain, I had to tow my car to another transmission repair store on my own expense anyway, why did I need to park my car at your lot that very day? Let me update. My car was screwed too late in the afternoon for tow service to come. Think about it, your car had some problem but it functioned, you drove it to Beck's to get the problem fixed, after their 20 minutes inspection the car was returned totally unable to drive, and you needed to pay tow service to tow your car to another auto repair store. Think about it my friends, wouldn't you wish you had never been to Beck's at the first place? Would you be happy about it? Yet, I was being nice and patient to them, and did not even complain. All I asked was left the car at their lot and towed it later. And because I wrote what I truly experienced on yelp, I received a phone call from them asking me to tow my car immediately, threatening to charge me $40 per day the next morning. Think about it my friends, aren't you be upset about this? Aren't you feel your treated them with patience and kindness, but were returned with menace and revenge? Would you choose to trust such kind of person? read more

Starter went out on my daughter's Accord, chose Beck's after a few calls around town as they seemed the most professional in answering my questions about getting the car towed to them. My mechanic is sort of like my dentist. I wish I never had to see them, but they keep an essential part of my life in good shape. And having found Beck's, I feel fortunate in knowing that my mechanic is also as competent as my dentist. The family wagon has over 110k on it and was in dire need of all new brake pads and rotors. Beck's gave an accurate quote (actually came in about $50 under), and did the job in one day. Also replaced a cooling system sensor & made that annoying "check engine" light go away. Labor rates are fair, and parts are marked up reasonably (say about 10-20% over retail). The staff is friendly and they explain everything in layman's terms when asked. It's a far cry from the fleecing one gets at the dealer. If you're going to be shelling out cold hard cash for a necessity, it's nice to know you're not being robbed blind. read more

I had a very good experience with the shop. The communication was great. They called me with the diagnosis. After getting deeper into it they even sent me a picture by text. Personalized and professional service is alive a d well at Beck's. They take you into the shop while your car is in the air to show you exactly what's happening with it, and you get to meet the technician and ask as many questions as you like. The texting and checkout service available remotely are SUPER convenient for someone like me with a busy career. I compared pricing to the repairs I needed (control arm and alignment) and the value is good, but pushed to excellent when you consider the service. And, they check on you a few days later to ensure the repairs are holding and answer any questions. Great service. I highly recommend, especially for Purdue students who need a reliable service while away from home! read more
