I've been a customer of this store since for long time since the store open, but after my last two visits, I'm considering taking my business elsewhere. There's an employee named Tyler who appears to take advantage of customers by refusing service in order to pressure them into buying new tires. During my first visit, he refused to repair my tire. On my second visit, he again refused service--this time declining to balance and rotate my tires--claiming they were too worn. On both occasions, his assessment seemed unreasonable. I went elsewhere the first time and had the tire repaired without issue. The second time, I spoke with the store manager, Ryan, who was very helpful. He confirmed that my tires were still under warranty and in good condition, and he instructed other person to perform the service as requested. Discount Tire came through for me AGAIN- Took my econo box car in after trip to dealer complaining of vibration at interstate speeds- Was told by dealer service- Two rims bent (steel) and unrepairable screw in one of tires on a damaged rim. Quote? ^$900 for two tires and two steel rims. Rolled in to Discount this AM- 1. Tire is repairable 2. Rims can be coaxed back into true and balanced. (They had steel wheels in stock- would have cost $210) Discount Tire-Lafayette has always been trustworthy, prompt (though often busy) and straightforward on theor pricing. My experience here was phenomenal! I had just moved to town however purchased my car in another state. I found a screw all the way through my tire so I needed a new one. Discount tire was great from talking with them on the phone, to in person service as well. Mitchell was very kind, patient and helpful throughout my whole process. Helped me ensure that they work with my insurance and made sure the whole tire was covered. I have to say, I wasn't impressed with how they evidently wasted my product. I went in for them to replace a bad tire pressure sensor, the right front as that is what the system was reading, and I brought my own sensor with me since I knew ahead of time they were charging 2-3 times more than what you could get the part for yourself. Midway through, though, one of the associates comes to me and says, actually it is the rear right tire with the problem. He offers a somewhat plausible explanation and so I say, ok then, replace that one instead, and off he goes. I don't know where the malfunction was in that, but they instead go and replace the right front, the one that apparently wasn't bad, and then make a big show about telling me the rear right was the one that was bad after all - even though they had already told me that and I told them to effing replace that as such. Would you like us to replace that for the low, low price of $60, even though now it is the left rear tire that is reading low, with no indication whatever that there is anything wrong with the rear right? Why, no - I will take my car to someone who knows what they are doing and/or is not trying to shake change from my pockets by what is otherwise some sort of dirty business. The only thing these people have up on Walmart is the free coffee and water - otherwise, I see no reason to take your car here for either simple, Walmart style services or the more involved services that you should pay a bit extra to get an honest mechanic to look at. read more

Why don't you guys offer tire alignments? I hear it's extra steps and too expensive or something to setup as a mechanic shop? Well OK but then you always have doubts on a warranty call right - how would you ever know if the tires were aligned properly? This has happened three times now with my family. We never get a full refund on clearly faulty tires. I'm still giving perfect ratings because service and overall experience here is constantly tops. BUT! Either offer full refunds on bad tires that try to kill me (Yokohama's they were, filthy little foursom that were quickly discontinued after my purchase I realized later on) OR offer alignments to go with your warranties. I want to keep DT in business not just because there aren't many better options. It's a great national brand that really tries. I'm currently rolling on my 4th set of wheels I have purchased from this very location. Got 3 more sets set on my sister's and parent's vehicles. It is near ideal, tire selection, great prices, and the best online shopping tools I've ever seen. My most recent purchase was a set of Continental Control Contact Touring for my Civic, all said and done for under $600 after mail in rebate. Solid price for a tire with 90,000 warranty. It's great to get tire rotation and balancing, free air checks, and quick tire repair here. But having to go elsewhere for an alignment is silly considering I should be able to get everything done here! read more

Got new tires here and they are great. Except, they didn't do everything correctly when they put them back on. They didn't reset my tire monitor on my car. And I believe they didn't clean the tire fully when putting my rear tire back on because there is no physical damage to the tire, it can only be that. It is very annoying having to go back for the third time when they could've just done it correctly the first time. read more

This place is quite simply, awesome. I just moved to the area, from another state, and my dang tire was flat on the Friday Eve before Memorial Day! Talk about bad timing. I was right in line at 8am Saturday morning, hoping for the best, and not only did they fix my tire, they fixed it for FREE! I was on my way home by 8:45am. I mean, I could NOT believe it. I immediately told my friend, who has lived in the area for years, as he has two bad tires. He went there, fully expecting to pay whatever they wanted, as his situation was getting urgent because he kept putting it off. It was busy, and he had to wait a couple hours, but he couldn't believe it when they fixed it for FREE! He gave the guy 10 bucks for his trouble though, but what great PR they are doing! The facility is loaded with staff but it seems like no one wants to help. I have been to discount tire 3 times this year to replace the same tire. The employee finally told me it is because of my rim, but you think they would've told me this during the first incident. I went back in and once again they were trying to sell me another tire but this time I did not purchase it. After I stated I will not be purchasing a tire the employee that was helping me caught an attitude and did not want to help me anymore. Instead he lead me on into thinking I was going to be purchasing a solid set of tires for my stock wheels for the winter which I was somewhat happy about. As I get home and speak to another discount tire they inform me that the tires that were recommend to me are absolutely horrible for the winter time and I should not go with them. This is the last time I'd go back to this location. read more

My husband went here to have a low tire checked since it is close to his work. Staff is nice and helpful. They were busier than normal that day so he had to leave the car for repair. Upon returning, he learned that they fixed his flat tire at no charge. He was quite impressed and much appreciated. I've been going to Discount Tire since 2015 and I'll never go to another tire shop! They just never let me down. Appointment dates were super booked, but I did a walk in right at opening and had my car out in about an hour. I highly recommend getting all of your tires through them with the certificate/insurance. I came in with a hole in my tire once and they patched it right up, but offered a free tire if they couldn't! Tire prices are very affordable as well. I'm new to Lafayette and so glad there's a Discount Tire here! As for my latest experience, I was a little thrown off by needing to replace two of my tire sensors ($60 each), but I promise y'all I left the shop with like three prior issues repaired that weren't even mentioned to the staff! I needed a tire that had a plug in it (as a temporary fix from a screw being in the tire) to be fixed. I tried to research on their website to see if they could fix plugged tires and didn't see anything saying that they couldn't. I also tried calling their store to ask, but I was on hold for a few minutes and didn't have a ton of time to wait, so I was not able to talk to anyone. To be fair I probably called at a busier time, which is totally fine. Anyways, I made an appointment and went in, but was told that they couldn't work on plugged tires. The employee I talked to was very friendly and offered to help me look into new tires, but I declined. Also, I can't give any rating on their services since they could not work on the tire, but just as a heads up they do not work on plugged tires! read more

Also if they tell you there's an hour or hour and a half wait double it and be sure they don't slip people in a head if you that showed up after you . They have a bunch of kids that know nothing about cars. I watched the kid using an impact and put one lug not on at a time and tightened it all the way over 100 ft lbs of torque on each lug nut. I told him your going to warp my rotors. He told me to leave shop area and continued doing this. Was unhappy with the tires they installed and had to replace my rotors because he warped all four of my rotors. read more

I had an initial mixed experience with these guys, but it turned out positively, and Discount Tire just earned a new customer. Came in on 7/23 to get a used tire to replace a recent flat until I could afford a set of new tires in August. The guy I spoke with on 7/22 quoted me $40 for a used tire, mounted and balanced, and said that they would buy it back from me if I came back the next month for new tires. I come in on the morning of 7/23, and this used tire supposedly sold since the day before. Now I'm looking at $100 for a new tire, mounted and balanced. The guy I spoke with on 7/22 wasn't there, and the guy I did talk to the morning of 7/23 was polite (albeit not very experienced-sounding), but I left, very unhappy about having to pay more than twice the quoted price. I get back that afternoon and was told that due to an error in their inventory system, they actually did have a used tire in stock. Apparently someone tried to call me that morning, but I missed it, and when I called back, the guy I spoke with didn't give me any of this info. Anyways, the guy I did speak with upon return to the shop (different from the one I spoke to that morning) not only refunded me the $100, but is letting me use the used tire for free as a "loaner". He also advised that I wait until early September instead of late August to come back for new tires, as they are doing a Labor Day sale that will save me even more money. So, to sum up: Pros: - These guys seem like an honest bunch and definitely have interest in building long-term customer relationships - I got a free tire to use for a month out of the deal - Everyone was very polite - Shop was clean and organized. It was super busy, and I had to wait over 20 minutes to be helped both times I came in, but to their credit, they always had 3-4 guys working the front desk area. Cons: - Apparently their inventory management system can use some work - Phone communication needs improvement. The guy I spoke with after calling the shop back did not have any of the relevant info about the used tire mixup - he simply said "it looks like everything is all ready" - Long wait times for service - I stood in line for 20+ minutes both in the morning and afternoon. Not sure whether this is typical or not. Overall, my experience ended up being positive, and I will be sure to come back for new tires in a month to give these guys a more thorough shot at my business. read more

This place is probably the cleanest & nicest tire place in town. They have free bottled water & comfortable chairs to wait in. They always have plenty of people working in front so there is hardly ever a line to check in/out. They are near Starbucks & many other places to walk to if you have a long wait. I just moved to town and needed four new tires. "Discount" in their name drew me in! I setup an appointment and waited less than an hour for my new tires. I had had a UHaul fiascos which caused some damage and the guy who helped me let me see under the car where the damage was. I was able to take pics to show my Insurance. The guy helping me was named Brian and he was so helpful and nice! He explained everything to me which I really appreciated! I paid $430 for four new tires and the warranty.
