The glass on my stove door broke and I had a really hard time replacing it. I thought I needed new screws, then ended up needing an entire new door. I emailed Wallace's for help and they found the screws for me immediately and had the whole door in stock as well. I was able to get the door from them and install myself for just the price of the door which was the same amount another place was going to charge me just to come LOOK at my stove. I very seldom, if ever, do reviews of businesses other than restaurants but I am going out of my way to give a review for the very fine folks at Wallace's. I was in need of some parts to fix my, better than 15 year old wood stove and was directed to Wallace's from another business. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by an unassuming gentleman sitting at what appeared to be a folding card table, almost in the middle of the show room. As it turned out that man was John the owner. It has been a very long time since I have met anyone more genuine than John. I found myself sitting down with him and just"visiting" for several minutes. While we chatted he dispatched one of his fellow employees (I get the feeling John is a "work WITH" rather than a "work FOR" type of guy) who quickly took off to cut the fire box bricks I needed, to a custom size. After visiting with John and he pointing to his son around the corner I came to realize this really is a family run business... If you are in need of a new wood or pellet stove please do yourself a good service and don't but anything until you visit John and the very fine folks at Wallace's! read more

Came to clean and service our fireplace. The problem was never fixed. My fireplace fills with soot worse than before the service. When the gentleman came back out to install a blower we decided to add we showed him how our original problem was not resolved. He messed around with an adjustment that still didn't solve the problem. I hired them to troubleshoot the issue and we still have it worse than ever. Not to mention the blower they installed is incredibly loud almost to the point I never use it. I was warned when he was installing but I sure wish I would have known when purchasing. I called back again leaving a messages but never heard back. Every time I turn my fireplace on within an hour my glass and logs are filled with soot. Wish I knew who to call. read more

Good service at their store and when Eric Wallace came to our home to develop a quote. He was professional, efficient, polite, and he wore a mask. If you decide buy from them, know that their installation contractor, Chad Vandouris and his brother, will not wear masks while they're in your home. John came out to the house, measured, after I had been to the show room and had ordered 2 appliances. 1 a fireplace insert, and a small free standing gas heating stove. He stated a covering metal face plate, would be a coustom order, and that masonry brick rework would be needed for the adaptation for the chimney pipes for the free standing stove. Neither point was accurate..and it became apparent he doesn't have installation knowledge. The face plate is available in various sizes, and only an accurate tape measurement was required. As far as masonry rework, that was also an unneeded modification to adapt a wood burning stove pipe chimney to a gas air intake and vent pipe. Some staff present as "Kurt" and short on the phone... My free standing stove, of iron, arrived from the showroom floor with several areas of red rust on the underside surfaces. I treated them myself. After a few days post installation, the fans in the fireplace insert began an occilation noise of out of balance or poor fan symetry. I posted a large down payment, and sent a second "large" good faith added payment for this family run business... At install I felt like the only acknowledgement of doing business . . Was ... How u gonna pay off the balance? There was never a "thanks for your business"! I had to request the sales invoices as they were not provided when ordered in the showroom. The business has replaced and installed the more appropriate size plate covering. There seems to be a culture of not appreciating the coustomer...the job was done.. take care and good day was the sensation of this sale. The contracted installers were skilled...but in my opinion, as the gas line had already been run to both service areas,their labor charges were not reasonable.. professional gas appliances need specific safety steps for an installation..I get that.. but that cost was not reflected in the appropriate charge read more

Horrible customer service. I called them asking if they had a chimney liner for a wood stove insert. On the phone they said yes we have one in stock you can pick up. I told them I would come tomorrow. When I arrived the grumpy employee rudely told me that they do not sell the liner to people unless you purchase one of their overpriced stoves. I will not be coming back. Ended up finding the liner for half the price somewhere else. read more

Many years ago, I bought a wood stove from Wallace's Stoves and was very satisfied with the customer service as well as their products. I have since sold that home. The home I currently own had a big bulky very unappealing wood stove that was placed inside of a large fireplace hearth. The stone hearth was great, the wood stove had to go. I made a trip to Wallace's once again, and brought pictures to show them what I had. They sent an installer over to check it out. He took measurements and figured where he would install the gas line. We set the date for the install and when Chad came back to do the project, he did run into a fee unexpected problems, but he made it work. After the final touch up with paint, I noticed a slight difference in it where he sprayed. It almost looked like a light dusting of a silver sharpie was used. I called John the owner, and I did not even get the entire sentence finished when he quickly responded with, "We'll take care of it " Days after that, Eric came over, took the part that needed to be resprayed off and it is just perfect. This company is extremely easy to work with, great selections, very fair prices and superb customer service with a commitment to quality workmanship in each step. read more

After striking out with a couple other stove service businesses (see my other reviews), Eric was able to resolve my issue. His service tech was not available but he took the time to troubleshoot my problem and recommended a replacement part and ordered it for me and I installed it myself and saved some money in the process. Usually, it's only when you leave poor reviews for a business that they want to make it up to you (sometimes). It's nice when a business just treats you well up front. I bought a pellet stove insert Oct. 7th and was told installation would be 3 weeks out. Five weeks later, it was finally installed. It never worked, smoked up the entire house, fan didn't work, and a fuse blew. I contacted the installer and he was able to come out a week later. Wiring was loose in the back; one wire wasn't even connected. The installer took the control panel to see about a new replacement. I didn't hear back from him after a week and a half (It has been below freezing temps at night and I am cold and frustrated by now). I contacted him again, but he did not get back to me. On my day off, I went to Wallace Stoves to find out what was happening. The man behind the desk said it was the first he heard of a problem! It should not be the customer who has to constantly contact a business when there is a problem. Good business practice would be to follow up with the customer. This has been a very disappointing and expensive endeavor. I would not recommend this business. read more

Didn't even get past the phone call with these people. I could think of different adjectives but I will stick with rude, short and very poor people skills. Was shopping around for a very expensive wood stove and called Wallace to get their "street price". That's what a smart consumer does right? Shop around? Well apparently that was a source of irritation to the older gentleman I was speaking with and he said he didn't have any time for this and basically hung up on me. Was not badgering him on price simply asked him his price at which point he asked me what prices I was getting, so I told him. I could tell this sort of informed consumer do-diligence did not sit well with him and he viewed people asking pricing questions as a complete waste of his time. According to my phone the entire phone call lasted less than 2 minuets. That includes talking to the person that answered the call, holding until they went and got the salesperson. Seriously if your going to fly off the handle after 40 seconds I could imagine your lack of patience with a person that was asking hard questions, had a warranty issue or needed service after the sale etc. I suppose if your willing to just accept his price and immediately place an order that very moment, then this shop will probably work for you. But if you mention that you are still shopping around, then watch out. I did find out that their price was indeed fairly reasonable and inline with other sellers. Also their shop would be very convenient for me to purchase & pickup my stove but that will never happen now. I would have rather payed more then put up with their attitude and in fact have found the stove I wanted cheaper. Pays to shop around when purchasing a nearly $3000 dollar wood stove. Upon my first visit to Wallace's stove, nearly three years ago, I would have given them two or three stars. At the time we had a poor experience with a sales rep (I have not seen that fellow since), however one of the owners was in and tried his best to find a pellet stove insert small enough to fit our unique fireplace. Unfortunately they didn't have one and we ended up purchasing a pellet stove elsewhere. When it came time to get a gas stove we gave Wallace a second chance and have had stellar service with them since, far better than the company we ended up getting a pellet stove with. The gas stove we purchased had some new technology which has needed to work out the bugs so we have had a number of service calls on the gas stove. Wallace's has been kind, efficient, and thorough in resolving these issues with the manufacturer. When it came time to have the pellet stove (purchased elsewhere) serviced, we had Wallace do that too. They've provided excellent support and advice on how best to use and maintain both devices! Should we need a stove in the future Wallace's will be our first stop! read more

When we bought our pellet stove and spent thousands of dollars, we received great customer service. Now, 3 years later, our burn pot cracked. They said they would have 1 one on Monday so I did not order the one from ebay that would have taken a week to get here. Monday was a week ago and they still don't have it. I could have had the one from ebay by now! Now I am ordering it from ebay but will have to wait another week for heat! They don't even care that they lied! They have not given any reason why the part they said would take 1 business day is not there yet. (It's been 7 business days) They act like we are bothering them when we call every day to see if it's in. We have now been without heat for 2 1/2 weeks and it has been in the 20's at night. read more

I went to Wallace stoves with dimensions for the wood burning stove insert space, I wanted the biggest one that would fit. they told me that a certain model would fit so we got it. low and behold when the installer arrived he told me that they sold me one that was way too large for the area it was to be installed. Wallace got the new one on order, refunded the difference and had it in a week. once the new one got installed the blower fan I ordered didn't work at all. after telling them they very shortly told me to remove it and bring it in. the person I dealt with was very short and not very polite about just checking to see if it worked. a few days later I got a call saying it was ready. I went to pick it up and wanted to see if it worked before taking it home and he very shortly told me that they had already checked it and it was good without showing me. I got home installed it and discovered the auto mode didn't work. after dealing with all the rudeness and temper I figured I would just deal with using the manual and not having an auto mode rather than go back to the people who treated me rudely and abruptly. read more

My gas fireplace manufacturer recommended Wallace's Stoves for a service call. They kept in good contact after I made the appt. & gave me a call that they were able to come out earlier. Ken (the service guy) was super friendly, gave me some good maintenance tips and most importantly fixed the issue I was having. I thought the service call charge was very reasonable...and will definitely use them again. read more
