This is certainly not your ordinary drug store for sure. It's huge and sells all kinds of non drug store items, mostly touristy. Stores like South of the Border definitely come to mind when you enter this emporium style place. Aside from all kinds of touristy and gift stuff they have a huge restaurant with several big dining rooms all heavily decorated with old photos, variously themed paintings and Tiffany lamps. There is no shortage on atmosphere. Ordering is fast casual style - place your order at the counter, pick up when they call your number and seat anywhere you choose. Food is not cheap and quality average - there are a couple of other restaurants in town but looking at the reviews it doesn't seem like there is anything much better and Wall Drug definitely wins by efficiency and convenience if nothing else. read more

NINETEEN DOLLARS ($19.11) was the cost for a BREAKFAST SANDWICH AND A SIDE OF HASH BROWNS. A breakfast sandwich with just egg and cheese was $8 or $9, add ONE (1) piece of meat which alone costs over FIVE DOLLARS. What??? The only reasonally priced thing was their homemade donut at $2 something and it was good, but who survives off of donuts? RECOMMENDATIONS: - We had lunch the day before in Wall at "Wakin' Bacon" - SO, so, so good, clean and healthy ingredients for HALF the cost. Super cute food truck, their hours are on their Facebook page and they serve breakfast and lunch - "Stompin' Grounds" in Wall has super good and cheap breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The Gold Standard of Tourist Traps. Yeah, I know. I can hear your eyeballs rolling around in their orbital sockets. But Wall Drug is worth the side trip, just the way you'd go see Rock City, the world's biggest ball of twine, or any number of other roadside attractions. If for no other reason than to say you've been there. To me, the most impressive thing of all is how the owners of Wall Drug managed to turn this small farm town into a tourist destination. Since 1931, Wall Drug has evolved into a 76,000-square-foot wonderland of free attractions, including the Western Art Gallery Restaurant, which seats 530". - More than 1 million visitors come to Wall each year. - Wall Drug Store is located right off major Interstate - 90 and conveniently situated just 8 miles down the road from Badlands National Park. There will be plenty of billboards along I-90 enticing tourists to make a stop in town. - The whole plaza area isn't difficult to explore. It mainly consists of 2 - 3 blocks long for hanging out. - There's an actual chapel located inside of Wall Drug Store. It's called The Travelers Chapel. - Other stores in the town of Wall include...the Cactus Cafe Lounge/Saloon, a Harley Davidson Store, Jackalope's Corner Gift Shop, an almost Everything $8.99 Outlet Store, Black Hills Gold Store and a Post Office. - The Wall Drug 80 Foot Dinosaur Advertisement is less than 1 mile outside of town and is good for a photograph. Knowing what to expect ahead of time is key. This is a tourist attraction. We thankfully visited when it wasn't crowded and loved it. So much to look at and stretch your legs. A lot of photo ops and clean bathrooms. Tons of souvenirs if you're interested. We stopped in for the free water, 5 cent coffee and a donut. The donuts are made fresh onsite and are delicious. If you are a veteran you get a free coffee and donut. I got a to-go coffee and it was $1.19. The donuts are $2.59 each. A lot of interesting historical photos in the back which we enjoyed viewing. After a 14 hour drive, I expected a little stop before reaching my destination of the day. But instead I arrived to a closed and empty strip of buildings due to misinformation put on Maps and Yelp. Besides being disappointed, I can't say anything about the shops (because I couldn't go in). Three stars for the food. Not awful; but also not awesome. The 5-cent coffee did exceed expectations, however. It was delicious. Four stars for extremely efficient service. This place has perfected the logistics of feeding a lot of people quickly. The last time I saw such a well-oiled machine, it was on a military base. 3.5 stars. This was a drug store many years ago. Now, it's a melting pot of things - shops to shop at, props to take pictures with, eateries, free water stations, etc. It is spectacular in the sense of how many things there are in here! The food was pretty good. Their homemade ice cream and blueberry pie were both delicious! The rest of the place was a little touristy filled with artsy shops, western wear, books, photo shops, really sorts of eclectic things! It is a must go once. The shopping inside is actually quite reasonable pricing wise. There are little statues everywhere that you can take pictures with. If it weren't for people dressed in today's attire, it would resemble a little downtown street from the 1800s. The free water/ice thing is hilarious! We tried the water. Lots of people didn't like the taste of it including my friends. I thought it wasn't too bad. This is a one time visit but should be visited. The experience is like no other. The homemade ice cream is AMAZING. The pies are really good too. We didn't try the shakes because they said they don't use the ice cream to make the shakes. Instead, they add flavoring, which was disappointing. I found myself a cute sparkly hat for $35 and friends found some pretty ceramics and incense sticks. Aim to spend a couple of hours here. It's a nice break from Badlands in the afternoon when the sun is blazing down on you. P.S. Look out for all the signs along the highway as you drive into Wall. This was not the first visit to Wall Drug but the first time getting fresh donuts and the widely advertised free ice water seen when traveling the 90 freeway towards Rapid City. Yes, it is also true that you can get a cup of coffee for a nickel, this being also advertised on numerous billboard signs along the west direction towards Wyoming. A large pot sits at the cafe, and you place a nickel into a box slot and self-serve yourself the coffee. The donuts were freshly made, and the taste was very good, which surprised me. I was tempted to get a fresh baked slice of apple pie but didn't have room for this. I highly recommend everyone stop by this tourist attraction if in the area. read more

We went to this location to recreate a 40 year old picture. Believe it or not, the same prop was still there. To explain for my first visit was the main area has lots of entrances. All join together. I would recommend going all the way down and working your way through all of them. You must pay if you find something at each location. Bathrooms in several locations and restaurants in the middle of the shopping area. There are lots of photo ops around the shopping location. Would recommend the $.05 cent coffee and delicious donut. They have vanilla (my favorite), chocolate, and maple. Large menu and lots of seating inside. They also have an ice cream,shake, and malt shop inside. Opposite side of the restaurant. Please take the time to check out behind the shop. Another area that is a must-see. See additional free photo ops and a gorilla playing the piano for $.50 cents. At the location behind is another place to see a dinosaur that gives a little timed show for free and lots of newspaper and local memorabilia. Also, a small mining town and poker bar front. The opposite side of Wall Drug has more shopping stores. Both have a great variety of souvenirs. Parking and ice water were free. I wanted to also let you know that veterans get FREE coffee. I live in South Dakota, so we go to Wall Drug several times a year. Having said that, I find myself preferring it during the winter. In summer, it's overwhelmingly crowded as tourists flock in from every state. The inside of the building feels almost as warm as being outside, making it difficult to browse in the stores. The meal was mediocre, but the donuts tasted amazing, particularly if you chilled them in the fridge for a while. Prices have surged, and the designs all seem identical. The backyard T. Rex thrills the kids, and they find the small mining zone interesting. Now, with all that being said, if you are from out of state, it is worthwhile to see it once. read more

this is old school, retro, and yet modern cool stuff. the tyrannosaurus rex that goes off every 10 minutes, and the sluice are great for the kids. They have a full chapel where you can get married, a sweets shop that is awesome, and restaurants. you have to keep on walking from room to room to really get the full experience. look at all the robotronic figures as well. this is great fun! read more

My wife and I was fortunate enough to be able to travel across our beautiful United States over several months during 2025. While traveling through South Dakota and the Bad Lands and observing the iconic Wall Drug roadside signs, we stopped for a visit in September. Not only did we enjoy the many many shops inside, but the uniqueness of a one of a kind business! We were first concerned about the availability of adequate parking for our 45 ft. 5th wheel RV, but our fears were soon relieved because we found plenty of provided parking for RV's. While visiting the jewelry store inside Walls, my wife was thrilled to find authentic Black Hills Gold jewelry. A very friendly and obviously experienced lady named Dorreen helped my wife select and purchase a beautiful Black Hills Gold ring. Ms Dorreen was very patient and understanding as my wife examined many styles before make her selection. Dorreen also took the time to tell the story of how Black Hills Gold originated years ago in the South Dakota Black Hills. After making her selection, she gave us her business card and advised if she could ever be of help in the future just give her a call. As my wife's birthday was in November, and realizing how much she loved her ring, I called Ms. Dorreen and asked her to help with something that would match my wife's ring. not only did she remember us and the exact ring chosen, she took the time to find both matching earrings and necklace to go with the ring! She also took the time to text me pictures of different styles and let me choose from her suggestions. We had several conversations back and forth and she always had the same friendly and helpful attitude! After taking needed payment information, Dorreen packaged the items securely and shipped them to me in Tennessee. Needless to say, my wife was absolutely thrilled as well as surprised at her birthday gift! Thank you Dorreen for wonderful customer service as well as becoming a friend! Did you see the sign for Wall Drug Store? This ultimate tourist destination lives up to the hype and should be part of your South Dakota adventure. They have free ice water and 5 cent coffee, but the real attraction is mingling with travelers in a fun place. They are in Wall and a little off the freeway, but worth the stop. Parking can be tricky, and there is a giant Tesla charging station here too. The store is split into many individual shops with a unique focus. Yes, there is a drug store still on premises that can fill your prescription. But they also have western wear, souvenirs, food, and pretty much everything else. Walking around the inside, I saw many smiles on even the most weary travelers as they explored the unique wonder of the store. It can be very crowded and a little expensive, but that is pretty much any vacation. This unique stop is a great way to begin or end your Badlands adventure or just pull off Interstate 90 for a cup of coffee and a jackalope keychain. The food is average to good, especially the onion rings. Just stop at Wall Drug Store. You don't even need to buy anything, but you will probably buy something. That's why they have signs! When I posted a picture on Facebook that I had entered South Dakota, five of my friends commented back that I absolutely have to go to Wall Drug and not to miss it. On top of that, highway billboards for miles pointing me to the original Wall Drug and whatnot, so of course, here I am. This is the quintessential tourist trap. It has some food and some trinkets (some made in China and many made locally) and of course, post cards. There are burgers and soups and milkshakes but I opted to skip all of that and peruse the store for something to commemorate my time in South Dakota. I bought ten postcards and the clerk who rang me up was also able to sell me postcard stamps. Awesome. Tshirts and mugs and sweatshirts and hats and keychains and fridge magnets and bumper stickers and so many more things. If there's something you collect, you'll find one of them here. They are well set up for tourists and have no problem taking your money. Street parking, lot parking and more. I would imagine this place gets bonkers during Sturgis week.
