Food was very very good, beer & cider was delicious, but seemed a little bit understaffed

Great pub. Beer is very good. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

I told you I would be back to try the food here one day. I'm not sure who "you" are, but I guess I was really talking to myself. It says so in the last sentence of my previous review if you'd like to step back in time. A hike on Dog Mountain called for a stop in Stevenson on the way back to Portland to get some tasty beers and (hopefully) tasty food from Walking Man Brewing. The sun was out and we were hoping we could secure a table outside. Sure enough there was one table with our names (not literally) on it. The place was packed. How could it not be? The sun was shining. The temps were in the upper 60's or low 70's. It was just about perfect. For starters we ordered the beer tasting. 4 oz glasses of all 10 of the beers they had on tap. From wheat to stout and IPA to imperial IPA. All the major beer groups were represented. After a hike beer tastes oh so much better. Who am I kidding? Beer tastes good all the time. I'm just saying. For food I had the Cuban sandwich because I'm a sucker for a Cuban sandwich. It came with a side of really good fries. The menu here consists mostly of sandwiches and pizzas. Food that generally pairs well with beer. Along with that I ordered a wheat beer of my own. I like the lighter bodied beers once the sun comes out. Very refreshing. This place is a bit on the expensive side. One friend noted he thought it would be a bit cheaper because we were in Stevenson. I figured they get a lot of tourists here because it is in the gorge and therefore can jack up their prices a bit. Sandwiches will run you close to $10. They are good, but that is what keeps me from giving that 5th star. read more

Staying at Skamania Lodge, I had heard lots about this brewery. In fact, the local grocery store clerk said the food was amazing too. Had the Walking Man Cross Walk bier-awesomely mild, no bitter hops or after taste. One of my favorite brews. The cubano sandwich was pretty damn good, not like Bunk's with the pork belly, but served on Focaccia bread with pork, ham, cheese and an awesome not sweet raspberry vinagrette salad. Damn good for the price! Growlers of beer to be taken home on tables everywhere. Small place! read more

I like this brewery and especially enjoy the outside seating because it is very family friendly. We have always had a good experience and the staff has been friendly. I like the blue cheese pizza read more

If there is a single reason to go to Walking Man Brewing, it's the Black Cherry Stout, which is easily one of the best beers being poured in the Columbia River Gorge. If there is a single reason to avoid Walking Man Brewing, it's the food, which is reliably mediocre, save for the mustard they serve with the soft pretzel (expertly crafted with their own Barefoot Brown Ale). In winter months, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming here; it feels familial and snug and small town-y. Getting a seat is easy and the staff is always warmly friendly. In the summer the patio opens and getting a beer with the dog is the perfect way to spend a few hours after a hike. In sum, go for the beer anytime of the year but go someplace else to get your grub on. read more

I felt at home the moment I stepped into this bar. The loud chatter, clanging pint glasses, and hoppy air wafting about. Little did I realize that my hometown brewery graced the walls. Yukon Brewing (Cheechako/Chilkoot). On my stool I settled into a fresh pour of their Ramblin' Raspberry. Where's the red? SIP... Mmmmmm just a hint of raspberries. Perfect. read more

There's a limited food menu but honestly... we were there for the beer! Waitresses wandered from table-to-table but frankly it was faster to order at the bar. We decided on a sampler tray and started sipping. I liked the yummy "Walking Stick Stout" and good "Barefoot Brown". "He" enjoyed the "Pale Strider" Ale. Neither of us thought highly of the "Ramblin' Raspberry" or the "Lightfoot Lager". All of the others were good! read more

Really great laid back place, wonderful craft beer that they brew there and craft pizza that is very tasty. I had the cherry Porter, a dark beer with a lot of flavor, and a pizza with gorgonzola cheese, garlic oil, arugula and more. Loved our time there. read more

And the last brewery on our trip through the gorge, to Spokane, and back. On the Washington side of the river not far from the Bridge of the Gods. Got a sampler tray of all ten of the beers they had on tap, and they are GENEROUS with their samplers, full 5 ounce pours versus the usual 3 or 4 ounce at most places. Was glad my partner was the one driving the rest of the way home and doesn't drink beer. All were decent but nothing phenomenal, though I did really like the Barefoot Brown. Have a great outdoor patio and the menu looked really good though we had already eaten so giving it an extra half-star to bump them to 4 though beer wise they are probably a 3-1/2, better than just o.k. but not quite to Yay. read more

Great burger, great beer! We hiked to the top of Beacon Rock then drove to Walking Man for burgers and brews, definitely a great choice for hungry hikers. Service was fast, fries were hot with delicious sauce for dipping, and I recommend the Happy Hiker burger. We sat outside (no inside seating currently, due to COVID) and it was lovely. read more

Great beers! The food is really mediocre though... I had the cherry stout and loved it. For food, we had a couple of sandwiches and the cheese pizza and they were all fine, but nothing to write home about. I do think it's worth coming here just for the beers though! read more

Walking Man Brewing is always a favorite spot to stop after a long day exploring the gorge. Walking man is a non-negotiable stop whenever we are on this side of the river! (I actually remembered to check in this time!) Great food, friendly service, and even better beer! We shared the farmers market pizza and a kale Caesar salad. The pizza was cooked perfectly with a thin crunchy crust. The salad was a bit heavy on the dressing so if I order it again I will ask for it light or on the side. The Littlefoot ISA was hoppy yet smooth with a clean finish. The Black Cherry Stout is one of my all time favs but due to the heat today I went with a local cider by Jester and Judge. Crisp and thirst quenching. Will definitely be back! read more

Fantastic food and friendly service. I got the locally caught wild trout sand and it was amazing. I also had the arugula and pear salad which was good too. I decided to go with the beer sampler tray to try out all the obscure ale I could get my hands on. Aside from the pale ale and couple of IPA's the rest of the beers were not up to snuff. But overall I can see them having potential down the road. All in all you can't pass this place up if you are in the area for a hike or whatevs. read more

Great food and amazing beer. Staff were friendly and customer service was great. Will be sure to make a trip there again in the future!

The patio was opened! Great fast service. Nice cold brews. Plenty of space outside to social distance.

Great find when dine-in was closed since they have lots of outdoor seating. We got the Cubano which pretty good - a little heavy on the yellow mustard. Also got kids chicken strips and corn dog and both were great. Ordered a side of fries which was plenty for all of us. I had the cherry stout which was tasty. read more

The patio seating was nicely spaced out. The beers are fantastic and the food was really good. We will definitely come back!

My friend and I came here after a hike. She brought her dog and we were able to sit outside with the dog and our waitress even brought her a bone! The food was great, being a vegan I was expecting to order a plain old basket of fries but I was pleasantly surprised that they had vegan options on their menu. I decided to go with the bahn mi burger which was labeled vegetarian. I asked to have it made vegan with no sauce and they even brought it out with a side of veganise! Very impressed with this place and would highly recommend. read more

First off, this is a small friendly brewpub with great beer and a good pub food. The pub was full when we arrived and while we were waiting the bartender came over and offered us a beer. After we found seats at the bar we tried the taster tray for beers and a plate of clam strips. The clam strips were great, lightly battered and tender. After the sampler I had the Homo Erectus Imperial IPA, ask for a homo, it's easier. We also had a fresh salad and the black and bleu pizza--black olives and blue cheese. The staff are very friendly and attentive, this is just a fun place to hang out. I wish that they had been open on Monday and Tuesday, we definitely would have gone back for a few more beers. read more

Decided to stop in here on our way back to Hood River after hiking Multnomah Falls. Plus we wanted to say we drove across the "Bridge of the Gods".... Nice stop. Very unassuming pub. Fairly simple. Decent beer menu. My favorites were the Walking Man IPA and the Walking Stick Stout. We also ordered the wings which were braised in beer and then finished off by frying. It came with ranch dressing with blue cheese chunks. Very good!!!!! We then drove back to Hood River on the Washington side and crossed over at White Salmon. Great views of Hood River and Mt Hood. read more

Came here for my friends' pre-wedding festivities on a Thursday night. The live music was great, the ambiance was awesome and the staff was friendly. However, the food and beer were mediocre, and the food took an hour to come out. I ordered a 3 tasters (Homo Erectus, Thai My Shoes and the Walking Man IPA). The Homo Erectus was nice and hoppy and the Walking Man IPA was good, but the Thai My Shoes was way too gingery/lemongrassy for my taste. I ordered a pint of the Aruku Hito and that was probably my favorite since it was refreshing. We also ordered the Spicy Hawaiian Pizza but the "teriyaki drizzle" was not teriyaki. It tasted more like a balsamic ginger sauce, which I thought didn't go with the Hawaiian style at all. I'm a huge critic when it comes to Asian flavors and maybe I shouldn't have expected much from a small town brewery, but I was a bit disappointed since I was hungry and waited a long time for my food. read more

A bit difficult to find. It's located next to a vacant lot and is a small building located behind a garden and patio. Parking on the rural street. Love the logo for the restaurant. Outdoor dining the patio next to the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is small. We started with the chicken wings and corn dogs. We never got the hot BBQ sauce with our wings, so I can't tell you if they were hot or not, but the wings were delicious. The corn dogs were over-fried, but I still ate them because even overdone corn dogs are good. Stayed with the pub burger which was also good. Good service. Fun place. read more

This place rocks! The food, beer, and cider were fantastic. The staff were all very friendly and super accommodating to our dietary restrictions. OUTSTANDING BREW! Diverse menu there! Try the Black Cherry Stout for sure, but the food is best washed down with their flagship IPA in my opinion. Food is a very simple affair. The chicken "drummies" were surprisingly memorable, though! Staff was SUPER FRIENDLY. We stopped here after a hike to grab something to eat. I tried the ramblin raspberry wheat beer which was very refreshing. Our table started with the hummus platter and pretzel. Both were great options as starters and we would get them again. For the main dishes we got a pepperoni pizza and a three mushroom pizza. The pepperoni pizza was quite greasy and too much cheese. The mushroom pizza was made by the truffle oil base. Next time I would try something else or go with only the mushroom pizza. The outdoor patio was really nice and the staff was friendly. There are definitely better pizza places, but the beer and starters were great. read more
