The first microbrewery in the Columbia River Gorge, Walking Man has long been a destination for beer enthusiasts and travelers of the region. The small pub boasts a sprawling outdoor beer garden where well behaved four legged friends are welcome on a leash. In addition to our own award winning brews we offer a selection of regional wines, ciders and non-alcohol beverages. We also offer a full menu with a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and hand-tossed artisan pizza.
History
Established in 1999.
Walking Man Brewing is the first microbrewery in the Columbia River Gorge and a pioneer of independent craft beer in the region. Founded in 1999 and opening its brewpub in 2000, Walking Man is known for award-winning beers brewed the old-school way—each batch stirred by hand using open-top fermentation to preserve true craft quality. Their brews have earned worldwide recognition, including a World Beer Cup Gold Medal for their flagship Walking Man IPA.
With ten rotating taps, the lineup features classics like Homo Erectus Imperial IPA, Pale Strider Pale Ale, and Cherry Stout, alongside seasonal releases. Guests can also enjoy regional wines, hard cider, NA options, pub fare, and artisan pizza. Relax in the cozy taproom or dog-friendly beer garden, enjoy live music on summer Thursdays, and join in year-round events. Open Wednesday–Sunday, Walking Man is a must-stop for locals, travelers, and beer lovers alike.
Meet the Business Owner: Tabatha W.
I’m passionate about Walking Man because it represents everything I love about hospitality and community. After more than three decades in the industry—and years as a corporate event planner—I partnered with Walking Man in the summer of 2014, inspired by its legacy and the opportunity to help steward a small-town brewpub where everyone feels welcome the moment they walk through the door.
I moved to the Columbia River Gorge in 2004 and made Stevenson my home in 2013, drawn by the people, the pace, and the sense of connection you only find in places like this. The culture I strive to curate at Walking Man is low-key, genuine, and inclusive—a place where locals feel like regulars and first-time guests feel like they belong.
Whether you’re stopping in for a quick pint, bringing friends from out of town, or settling into your usual seat, my goal is simple: great beer, good food, and a community space where everyone is treated like family.
