I am giving this Walgreens 5 Stars because of one employee I was watching when I was waiting for a return. Her name was Terry and while I was waiting there for the guy to come refund my money for a purchase I was observing Terry. I have to say that I have never before seen anything like it. She wasn't like the average cashier who yells: "NEXT"! when her customer left and the next customer in line was up. She was like: "Next! Hello Beautiful!". "Hi Sweetheart!" etc. Like she was living in some sort of weird happy world the rest of us couldn't see. She even tried to flirt with someone's baby in a stroller and the kid was not impressed. "Hello little miss piggy!" (the kid had her hair in pig tails). Now, when I try and make babies laugh I take it very personally when they do not. Not Terry! She just shrugged, laughed it off, looked up to see who was next, and called out "Next! Hello Gorgeous!" Oh my god. Terry should be a concierge. She lifted my spirits just observing her. "Next! Hey Darlin'!" PS- I'm pretty sure the name is Terry, but it was something that ended in a "y" and I thought it was peculiar that it did not end in an "i". Anyway, give Terry a raise. read more

We had to come here to get some necessities like toiletries that I was so silly I left at home. I picked up some snacks as well in case stores around the Greyhound weren't going to be open. They did a good job from the last time I went in terms of the reno. I actually felt motivated to shop. Good customer service. read more

It's Walgreens, you're a fool to go in expexting even Target service. Walgreens is in this world for convience. With that being said, I have had to deal with long lines, but so do I in almost any similar store in downtown Seattle. I find if you're nice to the staff they are nice to. Smile, say thank you and they will appricate you. Working in this part of downtown in a store like that I am sure they deal with a lot of crap. You wouldn't be a joy of sunshine either, give them a break and at least attempt to brighten someones day. Now that I am done with my counter reactions to most reviews at this location let me point out what I do love. They keep coupons at the register and they ask if you have your rewards card. Walgreens is wanky in the sense that you need both a card and a physical coupon for sales. But when you walk up with a smile they are more than happy to make sure you get the sale even if you don't ask! I like that. read more

A Walgreens in Seattle has the same stuff as a Walgreens in Charleston, aside from the local touristy flair stuff that they try to sell you, so luckily when I arrived, I was able to check in and use my rewards card for some extra discounts. Yep long lines and weird service at the register. I wanted to buy a pack of Big Red gum and at the register the lady argued with me about my gum. She said I should buy Stride because it's on sale and I would save 60something cents. She said she wanted to save me money but I just wanted Big Red!! Then she kept touching my pack of gum and the stride gum that was next to her.. I thought she was going to swap out my gum and force me to by Stride. Ahhh. But she gave up in the end and as I walked away she asked the next person if they wanted to buy some Stride. Where the hell was I? I went here last year for a DNA project, since I was making a double helix model, the candy there didn't really help. Aside from that, when I went here to pick up my photos, only one of them were normal, glossy and 4x6, the rest weren't glossy at all and they were about .7 of an inch shorter! I wonder why though, it did take them a while to find my pictures, though that's also what Bartells does. I was a bit worried about sending my photos here for some reason. I'm glad that there was a security guard who greeted everyone, and he made me feel a little bit more safe since this place was in front of an always crowded bus stop. I only went here for the photo discount, I'll stick to Bartells for now. read more

An experience, but not the good kind. Went in for a passport photo--long line, loud blaring music at the register (like, obnoxious loud), super slow service 9or lack thereof). Passport picture system was confusing; apparently you have to wait in line, buy a code, then print it out and go through the line again? Who knows. I'm not a rocket surgeon, but my reading comprehension is pretty good and I didn't know WHAT the heck it was talking about. But I wasn't going to wait in that stationary line to find out. Unfortunately this is my pharmacy, the location is just too damn close to work for me to take my business elsewhere. Pros: convenient location, pharmacy staff is very nice and knowledgable, cheap snacks, excellent people watching (just don't make eye contact with the tweakers/crazies/etc). Cons: crackhead central, sometimes the staff is burnt out on dealing with said crackheads so they aren't the friendliest (but can you blame them?!), always a long wait at the pharmacy. It's worth it if you're in the mood for an adventure, perhaps not the best choice if you're in a bad mood or feeling antisocial. read more

I want to give a good review for a young lady cashier Karen who was working last nite when I entered the store. She was very kind and did not allow the customers to distract her doing her job which I imagine that paticular store the employees are on edge due too high volume theft or shoplifting along with the rest of the disturbing customers. This place has horrible service. Every time I'm in here there's long lines and the cashiers are never happy. I only go in here because it's in such a good spot near everyhting and they close the latest (10pm). Oftentimes, I find myself putting something back because I don't want to wait in their longgg lines. Sometimes things are out of stock. read more

Poor people ALWAYS pay more than rich people. Like all chain drugstores, this Walgreens charges extremely high prices in areas where the customers are poor, or transient bus travelers, etc. This store even refuses to accept coupons from the coupon book that is available at all other Walgreens. In well-off communities, the customers are bold or demanding enough to insist on acceptance of a coupon, or adherence to an advertised price. In areas where the folks are poor, or less likely to speak English, or more likely to be traveling through, they get GOUGED for necessities they need like toiletries, foodstuffs, etc. This is the way all these large chain drugstores operate in poor communities. The workers here do a stellar job, especially given some of the challenges of the location. I don't know how the downstairs, hard working, cashiers stay so friendly, and the floor staff routinely take me personally to any item I can't find. The pharmacists and the pharmacy staff are very good as well, prescriptions are made very quickly, and they handle complications with providers and insurers with efficiency and politeness. I moved downtown from a more bougie location, and anticipated that this store would be a drag, because of all the downtown traffic, but they hold their own quite well. This particular location has a "bouncer"/security guard walking around the store who appeared to be "stalking" me and my mom around the store and asked us if we were "finding everything alright" 3 times in a row. My mom was standing in line for the check-out and rather than stand with her I continued 'window shopping' for anything worth buying. The bouncer then approaches me and tells me I had to leave because I wasn't buying anything. I was shocked and outraged. I'm a 34 year old male who was dressed in normal clothes and I don't look like a homeless person so I have no idea why he was harassing me and my mom. The experience of being thrown out of Walgreens for no apparent reason is something I won't soon forget. I will be filing a complaint with Walgreens and don't plan on shopping there ever again. read more

I dont understand all the bad reviews. I really like this Walgreens. For it to be downtown, its pretty nice and clean. I really like the way its set up. I usually frequent the upstairs floor. The cosmetics section is large and will have you thinking that you are in Sephora. Their prices are little high so make sure to get yourself their rewards card. it helps a little. Located right on the cormer of Pike and 3rd, this location is busy but convienent. The bus stop is right outside of the store. As far as the people, its a mixed bunch but if you keep to yourself, you should be okay. The staff is whatever but interaction with them is short so I dont care if they are friendly or not. Just beware. Outside the store is a woman named Denise a.k.a. local crackhead. She ambused me begging and crying for "anything you can give me please for two big macs!!!" I was scared to tell her no and felt sorry for her being hungry. She kept trying to hug me when she saw me bust out my wallet. I gave her a dollar and as soon as that money hit her hand, the tears disapperd, she straigtend up her face then turned to the next person and pulled the same act. Lmao! Honestly... this was the strangest Walgreens I have ever seen in my life... it had me all like... WalWhattttttttt...??? When I walked in the door as I seriously thought about swiftly running back out the door. Pros: Cheap prices, way cheaper than Target across the street. Good selection of snackies & necessities. Cons: Seems a bit icky & creepy right as you walk in the door. Certainly doesn't send off a great vibe. Creepy, dirty looking people walking around in there, I guess shopping? The employees were decently nice thou for what I could comprehend of what they were saying with broken English... My little one & I survived nonetheless & I got to use my Walgreens discount, so that's what really matters. Lol read more

Walgreens is not just lousy downtown. I live in Mt. Baker (South Seattle) and we have 3 major drugstores inside a one mile strip of Rainier Blvd. South. The Walgreens is nearest our house, so I went there a couple of times. The cashiers are RUDE. I smile, say hi after waiting patiently in a long line (I am disabled, it's a painful experience to stand that long) and the cashier DOES NOT LOOK UP OR ANSWER. NOT EVEN "HI". I put up with that crap 3 times, each time hoping the experience would be better. Nada. Word out there is that the food stamp crowd can go in (this is just rumor, oh attorneys, but from a good source) and buy any old thing and the clerks will take food stamps in payment and ring the item up as "cash item". This goes a LONG way to explain the misery inherent for anyone in the 98118 zip code Walgreens area. They are counting on the most poverty-stricken who have fewer choices as to how to get shampoo, t.p., kleenex. They don't need those of us who have a credit card, and they don't have to be nice to anybody! Theirs is a captive clientele. Looking back on this review, I realize that one should never leave the locals without a good alternative. Bartell's Drug Store is half a mile away on Rainier Avenue South (but to the north of Walgreens). There, you can find everything Walgreen's has and more; the store will be clean; the management will likely check in with you to be sure you are happy, if you appear to be searching for something, or if you have a nice, full cart and they think they want you back! Prescriptions are slow both places. However, I order food from amazonfresh.com, and need a smallish store to buy my nonfood items. Unless you are on foot and must walk to your drug store, I recommend you leave Walgreens behind and head up the street. It is so worth it, and even the parking lot is easier to navigate without someone coming around the corner to surprise you backing out, like in Walgreens' U-Shaped parking lot. read more

I'm a transgender male on HRT who moved here recently so I havent switched over pharmacies yet. I have gone to this Walgreens twice to get syringes and they kindly provided the proper syringes each time! Thanks for that! However, I went in today for the same reason and I was told that I cant get syringes without a prescription, after I clearly stated that I wanted to purchase them. I would appreciate some clarification on what the pharmacy clerks are allowed to sell to who because now I can honestly say I'm confused. read more

I've had several problems with the Walgreen on Pike & 3rd Avenue (Downtown Seattle). While I fully understand the store's demographics - busy corner, suspicious characters - customers coming in should be treated correctly. Their business model is "ghetto central", and it's insulting and disrespectful to anyone just wanting to simply purchase an item from a drugstore, and be on their merry way. If Walgreen asks customers to use a basket for shopping, they should have the courtesy to ask customers if they want a bag and receipt for their purchase. This is a de minimus standard for customer service. Not that they would know what that means. I, too, have experienced the security guard "MAY I HELP YOU". That's shopping with a basket, just picking up a few items after work, etc. Coarse racial profiling at its finest! Last, I had a problem with a cashier, with a transaction made via credit card. Because of [perceived] improprieties, I am reporting the incident to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Caveat emptor! read more

ALWAYS check RECEIPTS before walking away. Last 2 times I was overcharged over $14. Gum on sale for $2.50 but rung up at $4.79 each on 4 of them. Luckily I caught it! Tuesday I had a $5 coupon but cashier refused to scan it right away & argued w me. She forgot the coupon! She had to call Mgr, he had to void it, I had to unpack my bags, she had to rering everything, I had to pay again & rebag items. Glad I didn't have to catch a bus! Items are already higher than many places, but overcharging puts pure profit into Walgreens registers. read more

This Walgreen's has a major transit stop outside its doors and across the street, therefore-and this is not a complaint, the store can get crowded with transit riders and transit riders are standing outside it's doors.. Because of it's location, during tourist and cruise season it gets worse. Regular Seattle-ites take it in stride because all the stores downtown are the same way. It's remodeling right now and adding a second floor, so it's a little squished but not bad. The employees work very hard and take a lot of grief from customers but they try hard to stay positive. Because of the huge amount of customers they can run out of items on the shelf but all you have to do is ask and they will go look in the store room or give you a rain check. This store is no different than any other, it's all in perspective. I love the pharmacy and the pharmacy staff. They greet me by name and they always have time to answer my questions and take care of me. Brian and Sharon rock. This store and it's pharmacy is in the middle of many apartment buildings (a lot of people don't seem to realize or know that there are apartments above the retail stores downtown) and so they have a lot of customers but they take care of them very well and try to get extra registers open as soon as possible and they make announcements that people can also check out in cosmetics. So, to the complainers, yes the store gets crowded because of it's location, yes the floors inside the doors can get a little grubby from all the foot traffic, but it is the little store that could and does. read more
