I have been meaning to write this for quite a while. I had a career in retail as a store manager and buyer so I know of what I speak. Walgreens is a store of high margins and low inventory along with low payroll. It shows up in high prices, outages, sloppy store, incorrect or no pricing on the floor, inept checkers and long lines. Their plus side is that they are open 24 hours and they have stuff that other stores don't carry. It's a trade off when you decide to shop there. read more

Do not go to this Walgreens if you have Saint Joseph Health coverage. We tried this Walgreens a year ago, had a bad experience, and decided to patronize anywhere else but this Walgreens. We've had no problems at any other Santa Rosa pharmacies since then. We went to Walgreens today for a flu shot. We brought our Saint Joseph and Medicare cards with us. When the pharmacy desk clerk said we did not have coverage, we immediately, still at the counter, called the Saint Joseph Health medical office on Doyle Park Drive, who confirmed the Walgreens flu shots are covered. The Walgreens desk clerk and manager refused to accept our phone confirmation from the Saint Joseph office. After an hour, we gave up, and will get the flu shot elsewhere. read more

If I could give fewer stars I would. Prescription was called in and when I arrived and gave my insurance information I was told it would be a 2 hour wait. One woman sat in a chair by the pharmacy - maybe 10 cars in the parking lot at 11 pm- no apologies.....won't be back. I am adding to my wife's review. I am a physician and depend on pharmacies, like all other healthcare providers, to display compassion.......even if just feigning this emotion. Patients who present to a pharmacy are often ill and find it difficult to be out picking up medication. The woman who was at the counter showed no interest in helping my wife. A two hour wait might very well have been necessary but it is how you present it. Please don't display anger at the patients. Even after I mentioned this to her, and the pharmacist, they went about their business without seeming to care in the least. With a tad of compassion it would matter little how long a patient needs to wait. I will never visit this pharmacy again and will not prescribe there. My husband needed a prescription sent from UCSF Walgreens and was told the prescription had been delivered at 9:58 in the morning. When he went to pick up his prescription at 5 o'clock, the technician insisted it was not there but that he could buy the drugs on Amazon. Absolutely and totally incompetent. This is probably a violation of rules of a pharmacy. Incredibly and unbelievably bad service. I can't give this place a 0 but would if I could. read more

For so many years this was the best pharmacy by far in Sonoma County. It is CRUSHINGLY bad now. I used to get text message notifications when I was going to run out of prescription three or four days in advance, now the notifications are hit and miss. The last 5 out of 6 times that I came to pick up a monthly common prescription, they said they were out of stock. This was after I got telephone notifications less than 24 hours prior, telling me the prescription was ready to be picked up. Today I came in to pick up the prescription, and I was told once again, that they were out of stock and I might have to go to a different chain to find it. After I pointed out how bad this pharmacy had become, the pharmacist looked on the shelf, and said; "Oops I found some". She then said; "Hopefully things will get better. We are supposed to get a new manager". They seem so scatter brained in this pharmacy it worries me about the accuracy of their prescriptions and dosages read more

Today, I waited in line for about an hour to pick up my prescriptions at the pharmacy. Guess what? All prescriptions were not filled completely. The kicker? Two days ago, I called to verify that ALL of my prescriptions were filled and was promised they were. If this were the first time, I would wait and give the staff another chance. However, I have had to fill my prescriptions at Walgreen's for the past 15 months, and my prescription orders have yet to be filled in full and in a timely manner. AVOID THIS PHARMACY This is a horribly run pharmacy. Do not have a prescription sent there if you need it filled (which, obviously, is anytime you have a prescription). Our experience: MD called in prescription on Friday. We went in later that afternoon, and pharmacy counter person said it had been ordered and would be in on Monday. We went in on Wednesday night, and were told that the drug was not available. When we said we were told on Friday it had been ordered, the pharmacist asked, "Who told you that?" Uh, well, the person who was working here on Friday. Why would we have noted their name? So the upshot: told drug was ordered, and promised it would be in on a certain date, yet reality was the drug was never ordered, and no telephone call to inform us of that fact. Seriously, just avoid these guys. You'll end up like us: scrambling at the last minute to get a prescription filled after a failed promise on their part. read more

I went to for fill a prescription for Covid tests, one of the main people that was working in the pharmacy did not have a mascon, which I guess is not required in a pharmacy. The problem is the person was eating some nuts or seeds with their hand also kept rubbing their nose. Did not wash their hands or use a wipe and proceeded to pick up my order and put it in a bag. By far the worst pharmacy I've ever been to. Went in on a Thursday afternoon and waited in line for 30 minutes. Then I waited at the counter for 20 minutes while the woman tried to figure out my insurance. The prescription had not been filled so I left and decided to come back when it was done. Came back the next day and waited in line for at least another 30 minutes. Then when I finally get to the counter the woman tells me that they don't have my insurance information. So we spend another few minute inputing it again. The pharmacists are clearly above helping the techs ring people up. There is a complete lack of communication and a horrible work ethic in this pharmacy. Needless to say Walgreens has lost a customer today and me and my family will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

If I could I would give this pharmacy NO stars. Very inefficient operation. No less than 8 staff working, but no help at all. No reassurance that they are doing their best to get to everyone. No sense of urgency whatsoever. No designated check in lane for covid and flu shots so people waiting in line to have prescriptions filled are left to languish while people with injection appointments cut the line then proceed to fill out the paperwork at the counter. One older woman was so relieved to finally get helped that she made a comment on her way out, "I thought I was going to die here". read more

I have been coming here for years, and have always had a positive experience. I enjoy the short lines and the fast convenience of this smaller drug store. I have used the pharmacy as well and they are very helpful and fast, except for one time. One night one of the pharmacist completely be rude to me, but I found out he was a fill in pharmacist for the day, so I won't give this location less stars. Anyways, he was calling out what my prescription was and telling me I wasn't old enough for it, I came at 11pm just out of a shower and no makeup on. I was plenty old enough, that's why my Dr. prescribed it to me. It was birth control pills, and he kept giving my boyfriend a strange look. I couldn't believe his rudeness. I have never seen him back at this location, and I hope he learned his lesson, because of course I contacted corporate and filed a complaint. The manager of the store was very helpful and apologized to me and let me know he will take care of it on the corporate end. The manager was very through and helpful with the process of filing a complaint and it felt like he was on my side, which is rare these days. read more

I called on Saturday, April 24, 2021 to make an appt for my COVID 19 vaccination for Monday, April 26th. Within a couple of hours I was called back and asked if I'd like to come in that day (Saturday) because they had a few extra, so I did. I was assured I'd be able to come back in three weeks (May 15th) for my second shot. When I called back today to find out when I should come in the pharmacist had no idea what I was talking about. She kept asking me to explain the situation but interrupted me every time I tried to tell her. She said they had no shot for me today and that I should just come in Monday the 17th because that's when my original appt for my second shot was scheduled (no one updated their info, apparently). I'm not sure if this is going to mess up my vaccination, but this isn't something I want screwed up, obviously. Definitely double check to make sure they have their ducks in a row if this happens to you. I'm extremely frustrated by this. The pharmacist sounded like she didn't believe me and when I said I could bring my card in so she could see that today was the three week mark and she said no. I hope this works out. I'm pretty angry right now. I stopped using Walgreens for prescriptions because of ongoing frustrations, but I really didn't think they'd be this way about vaccinations. read more

I have always been a CVS customer wherever I lived but decided to switch to Walgreens when I moved to Santa Rosa as it was walking distance from my home. I dread coming here to pick up prescriptions. It doesn't matter if I use the drive up or walk in method to pick up my meds there is always such a long wait and every time I try to call the pharmacy department I end up on hold for 5-15 mins. Today I finally got through to refill my prescription and was told it was going to be a 3-hour wait because they are understaffed. Manager - get a clue, you need to hire on some more help. At this point, I do not care if it is closer, I'd pick customer service over convenience any day. read more

Today, there were 10 people in line, 1 cashier, and the same people were being helped as when we walked in 5 minutes before. Yet, there was never a call for another cashier!!!! Walgreens merged with some company called Boots Alliance recently, some Canadian Conglomerate. Well, if you can't manage your business you really should not expand. This proves it. I use a small pharmacy now, that knows me by name, and knows my prescriptions etc. The pharmacy never seemed to have the same faces working there, but the fact that it is 24 hour could explain a rotating schedule... Every once in awhile( over the past 8 + years,)I have to use this pharmacy. Even when there is no one really there, it is still kind of, well....crappy. It just seems some places attract like employees I guess. It's a shame, I know the store as a whole, just had some kind of a,"makeover" in the past 10-12 months, new touch computer screens, new layout (? sadly, that was what I liked about them before, the merchandise was in a particular layout that made it easy for a grab and pay necessity. Now, not so much... As far as the employees of Walgreens go, they are a kind, and faithful bunch. Many, with the exception of a handful of new rotating newbies have been there for as long as I can remember. Very helpful, soft spoken, and dependable. The fact that when there is a huge line, that seems to materialize as quickly as it disappears, they are always on task with the," i see three" mode, which is awesome! Being in retail has some really negative aspects. You're on your feet for a long time, people- especially now, with the,"faster, faster, gimme-gimme, immediate gratification, I want it now!" mindset, can be really rude. You see all types all day long...keeping a polite and helpful attitude must take a lot of patience. I have seen things while waiting in a line here over the years, that would have had me hopping the check-out desk, and in a full on dogfight! They really keep a consistent, though slightly detached ( must be the trick!) manner I appreciate greatly... Nutshell: Walgreens pharmacy- bad. emergency only. Let me tell you the worst pharmacy you could ever go to. First of all,Mary the shift leader helped me when I first arrived(mind I came from getting two dental extractions ;cheeks and tongue numb) and I placed my drop off prescription with ID down on counter to avoid talking and she still proceeds to ask my name and other questions, so I try and give her the ID again and by now she knew I couldn't talk but she had already copped an attitude and wasn't attending me in a personable matter at all. Made me question how she would treat a customer with any hearing or talking impairments. Second incident was the pharmacy tech Grey with her total disregard to everyone standing in line. She allowed two customers to jump in front of everyone else and claimed they had waited a long time,yet I was waiting an hour in my car, but I'm not considered a waiting customer and I have to wait in line because I wasn't shopping as I waited? Makes no sense to me at all. But third incident is why NO ONE EVER should drop prescriptions off here . Myan T, pharmacist, thinks she's a doctor. When it came to my consultation I asked two simple questions and she took it upon herself to think it was okay to ask about my personal life, and ask me if I have substance abuse issues due to one of my prescriptions being a controlled med. Is it ok to ask every single person if they're an addict. Or what they're current health status is ? Then she proceeded to try and make adjustments to a DOCTORS PRESCRIVED ORDER as if she was the one in charge of what I got. So I told her to give me back my original prescription and left. After a total of about 2.5 hours of waiting and the pharmacist on a power trip . I rather wait anywhere else than be so disrespected and so many boundaries crossed on unprofessional levels. read more

It's the pharmacy that really ruins this place. I don't know if they have high turnover or what, I often get someone behind the glass who seems either new or incompetent. I went to get a flu shot and the clerk told me to have a seat and then apparently forgot about me until I asked what was taking so long since I had an appointment. She then snapped at me (instead of apologizing) to the point that I was speechless. Just yesterday I went in to pick up a prescription after getting a notice that it was ready, and the clerk seemed so confused and was walking around, finally brought a manager over. They whispered to each other and stared at their screen. Finally the manager said I was out of refills and they would have to contact my doctor. I said, "this is not a refill." And finally I got my prescription. It's always something with them. It's the closest pharmacy to my home but I can't take the long lines and incompetence anymore. Find somewhere else. read more

The pharmacy in this Walgreen's store was sent a prescription by my doctor. When I called the PHCY assistant told me the generic for my medication was ready. I told him my prescription was for the real drug that I couldn't take the generic. He informed me that the doctors prescription was for the generic. I wrote an email to my doctor asking if she had sent this wrong prescription. A nurse called me back stating she had called the pharmacy and someone there denied having told me it was the doctor's prescription. This review is of the Pharmacy. They are understaffed and the wait is horrendous. They used to be a 24 hour store but have cut hours and close the pharmacy for a lunch break. I went to pick up percocet pain medication and antibiotic after oral surgery and they did not have the pain medication nor could they give me a time when they would have it in stock. I ended up going here because I needed some medication after hours. The only thing they have going for them is that they are open in the middle of the night. They have messed up my orders numerous times, long lines, short handed, staff that tends to look at you like "doh" everytime you tell them it's your third attempt to get medication. They faxed my doctor for a refill BUT HAD THE WRONG NUMBER and of course never looked into it. Even when I tried to transfer my rx to a different pharmacy, they didn't respond to the request for over a week, resulting in a call (20 minutes on hold) and then repeating myself 5 times to get the message across. read more

My first job was at a Walgreen's and I had been shopping happily at the chain for over a decade. Keep that in mind when I tell you that I will never again shop here. Their pharmacy has been that terrible. Some highlights of the past 18 months includes attempting to fill a prescription that had no more refills while there was one in their system with 3 refills remaining for the exact medication, filling my prescription one state over, not being able to have my auto-refill work for 2 months in a row, and them refusing to give me an emergency supply of my medication when they messed up my auto-refill and I had no refills left (and let me tell you withdrawal from the meds that let you get out of bed is a specific form of not-fun). The last straw came when I was able to realize that they messed up my prescriptions 8 times in 7 months. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I stupidly thought you could fill my 2 prescriptions, bc you advertise EVERYWHERE that you accept Blue cross. My bad for assuming that meant mine. After waiting a totally unacceptable amount of time both at your drive through, and inside, i was told my plan wasnt covered. In hindsight, I should have demanded the written prescription to take elsewhere, rather than accepting your "no. they have to call to do a transfer, and we'll make them wait on hold for as long as you waited here."
