Always call ahead to check that photos are actually ready when dealing with Walgreens. No one periodically checks the photo counter, so if the printer runs low on paper, photos just don't get printed. Even if you ordered them 4 hours before. Service is hit or miss. I was not impressed with the manager who didn't even greet me when the sales clerk handed me off to her. She just barked, "phone number?!" with her back turned to me. When she realized they weren't printed she did give me a time frame (Polk and California Walgreens did not at first) but no apology. Only redeeming. Quality is that they have a lot in the back. read more

Needs serious help as in more of it. Always late filling prescriptions and a long line to boot. And watch out if get something called in. The will claim not to get it and find it when you say the name of who the doctor's office spoke with. One star since since they did eventually fill your order. Absolute worst pharmacy EVER! Always something wrong with their system...prescriptions being closed out for no reason with no explanation, every time my doctor gives me a refill on my prescription they say there's no refills available and have to contact the doctor again, then their electronic system is a complete mess my doctor had to spend an entire day back and forth with their system trying to get my prescription to them which already had a refill that they would not authorize! Long story short if you have a ton of time to waste and don't actually need your prescriptions then this is the pharmacy for you. My doctor recommended I use a prescription delivery service instead. No, this isn't really for the store itself. Instead, it's more of an apology and update on the homeless situation outside. Over the past few months I've come to know and understand the guys who sit outside - including one of them who has made non-enemies with my dog (translation: my dog doesn't cower when walking past him). Unlike the guy who insults you and, on occasion, will harass people outside of Mollie Stone's just a few blocks down, these guys are generally nice and don't hassle. Moral of the story - I shouldn't have been so quick to judge them. They have worse problems than I could imagine, and if my biggest daily pang is walking past Walgreen's, then I guess I have a pretty sweet life, right? read more

If you like waiting forever and receiving zero support this Walgreen's is for you. Moving from New York City and accustomed to the horrid service you receive from Duanne Reade you would think you can only go up in the customer service department. BUT amazingly this Walgreen's strives for below par performance. The pharmacy is particularly awesome at making simple tasks seem like they're splitting the atom. Are you looking for wrong advice, rude customer service or simply don't care if your prescription is filled correctly than you found your place. Hope your not in hurry when you come by because I've seen DMV lines more efficient than this Walgreens. If you're the type of person that doesn't like to talk to customer's, don't really care about what you do or want to learn anything about what you're employer sells or where it might be located, then you should complete an application for this Walgreens. read more

This Walgreens is pretty awful compared to other Walgreens. The staff are hit or miss in regards to dealing with someone nice and competent. I've waited at the front counter for several minutes more than a couple times trying to check out. Unsure if they weren't staffed properly, or didn't coordinate breaks appropriately, but I regret coming into this store just about every time I come in. read more

In between a 2.5 and 3 star. I came to this Walgreens to get my flu shot because it was close and seemed convenient. This is a crowded and small location so you have to watch out for other customers in the tiny aisles as you look for the items you need. The pharmacy is in the back which can get crowded as well, since you have to wait in line in one of the aisles and tend to block other customers. However the pharmacists were nice and pretty fast and were able to give me my flu shot pretty quickly. $10 and I was done. There are some hobos who stake out in front of the entrance so that's kind of annoying but this Walgreens will get the job done for sure. read more

Some Walgreens look and feel incredibly ghetto. The shelves are covered in dust, the aisles are cramped and full of crazy ppl pushing their dogs in handbaskets, the pharmacy has ppl loiter for their morphine.... I came in here looking for the ever inexpensive, broad spectrum sunscreen. I have oily skin. Sensitive skin. After a disastrous month of peeling, itchy, red, inflamed skin around my eyes (due to a new daytime moisturizer), I finally realized that my skin can abide by only the really greasy cheap stuff (Walgreen brand spf 50 with Parasol 1758) or really expensive stuff (la prairie spf 30 or La Mer). The Walgreens sells the sunscreen in 3oz tubes, perfect for travel. Or my desktop. It looks a little out of place in the quickly gentrified Filmore, but it serves its purpose. And it always has the craziest electric massagers! read more

1.5 stars. I really want to like this location. I really do. Because it's only a few blocks away from my place, so it should be a quick trip to pick up my prescription and get my bus pass right? Yeah right. I have no idea why, but the pharmacy line is MISERABLE between 3-6pm. WHY?? We aren't in FiDi people!! Where did you all come from?? And why does it take over 20 minutes just to get my prescription? Why is the lady in front with 2 dogs asking 1000 questions?? I wish they had more staff... Only thing that saves this place is the nice cashier lady that was so happy when I donated $1 to the hospital in Chinatown. It was really nice to see someone so invested in our community. read more

Let me start by saying: The Walgreens on Chestnut is a fantastic place with friendly staff, they allow people in with their dogs and are well stocked. Now.. this is sadly not that one, this is the Walgreens on Filmore and Bush. Never ever do they have the prescriptions ready. EVER. Even when I called the other day and asked them and they confirmed, I still had to wait 20 minutes. I am unsure why.. 2 of the 4 staff in the back look like deer in the headlights, dragging their feet, stumbling along... It is ridiculous. It is more so stressful having to tie my dogs up outside where anyone can snap them up (there have been incidents recently in the nob hill/pacific heights areas) and having to deal with their constant inability to produce the prescriptions on time. If you wan't any of the following: Supplements, razors, batteries and any of the many many locked items, be prepared to wait for about 10 minutes next to the shelf, and after having rung the damn button a couple of times, a person might show up looking utterly bored out of their brains and angry you disturbed their cigarette work time at the back. Avoid at all costs. Any other Wallgreens has better service. read more

We shop at a lot of Walgreen Stores in our travels and this one is definitely below average in our experience of three different visits. Our main complaint: The little cards on the shelf for the medicines "behind the counter" do not match. Just because there are cards out on the shelf it is not indication that they have it in inventory. And speaking of inventory, they quite frankly seem to be out of the items that we want, complaining that "corporate doesn't send it to them". You don't suppose it because your inventory is inaccurate do you? This is one of the most inefficient Walgreen stores that we have been in, and we have been in 15 or 20 of them. It is obvious that this one is not as well managed as many of the others. We do not get prescriptions from Walgreens ever! They are unbelievably expensive compared to Walmart, or other online pharmacy options, easily costing more than double. read more

My boyfriend herniated a disk in his back and was unable to move an inch by himself. I needed a wheelchair to get him to a doctor's appointment that afternoon and a local medical rental shop did not have any available. So I went to this Walgreen's and happily found one at a reasonable price. I needed assistance getting it down from the shelf and Angela, an employee, came quickly to help. Although I offered to help her get it down, she insisted that it was too heavy for my small stature. The box flaps were slightly open and the handle was broken (the box was very large and heavy), so she brought it up to the front counter for me. She offered to take it to my car as well. I said that I walked from my apartment (5+ blocks away). She immediately offered to give me a ride with my new wheelchair, but I said that I could manage pushing the box home. She insisted that it wouldn't be a problem for her to give me a lift, and since the trek is up a big hill, I gladly accepted her kind offer. She loaded the wheelchair in the back of her car, drove me to my apartment, and unloaded the box for me. I am always satisfied with the service and selection at this location, but really appreciated the exemplary level of service and care Angela showed to make sure that I was fully taken care of; helping my nightmarish-day go significantly better than it otherwise would have. read more

You aren't even trying to compete with Target or Amazon. There's a beggar outside the door, and a security guard lurking inside. Much of the merchandise is locked up. What isn't locked up is crappy, over-priced house brands or out of stock. The P.A. system is constantly blaring pleas for customer assistance to unlock the merchandise or staff the cash registers (their hit song is "I see three"). The pharmacy people are rude, probably because they are so understaffed. The photo printer isn't working. This is just a horrible experience that I avoid whenever possible. Walgreen's in San Francisco is a RIP-OFF! Maybe it's because they almost have a monopoly in the city. I went to pick up a prescription that I pay $35. for in LA--and it was $102.! The only other chain store in town, CVS, had it for $60. Still too much, but way better than Walgreen's. read more

Worst experience at a Walgreens I've ever had. Came in looking to get my passport photo developed. They tell me I can't do it via their computer system with what I've got on my flash drive. I already did all the cropping/lighting work, I just need them to print it, and they can't, because their "printer doesn't accept those." I point at the computer hooked up to the massive printer and ask "what about that?" "It won't work." Which is obviously not the case - every PC in the world has USB ports. They were either being lazy or didn't know how. I ask if they have photo paper, now trying to distance myself from needing their service. The guy takes a look to his left and right while standing in front of me, and says "No, we don't have photo paper. Only regular." He eventually told me to try a Kinkos. When I asked where a Kinkos might be, he said "I dunno, you could go ask someone out there [points at street out side store] where it is". Haha wow. Eventually I had enough of it, went to the Walgreens on Clement, and of course they did have photo paper. Not that I needed it; they quickly processed my photo via the USB ports on that same damn computer back there and I was done. read more

Super difficult and inconvenient parking lot. Lines out the door for both the front counters and the pharmacy desk. Not a very clean looking Walgreens, pretty grungy and old looking inside. I would feel safer in this store if the shelves didn't go all the way to the ceiling, but the way it's set up feels creepy with many narrow dark aisles. Lots of the products are under lock and key which makes it extra hard to actually get what you need. I'll stick to pharmacies somewhere else. read more

I usually have great experience with Walgreens but this store totally ruined my good impression of them. I came to the store to print out some photos.This was the first time for me to use the self-service machine, so I have a couple of questions about the photos. There was no nody in the photo section helping out and I had to wait for a lont time to get someone to help me. On top of the bad service, their attitude really sucks, expecially the manager. It's just an OK Walgreen's because it's small and cramped, and always has long lines. But it has a pharmacy and a photo department, so if you're in the area and it's just a stop-in-and-get-something-quick-thing that no Walgreen's would be without (like...Banana Boat sunscreen or Off! insect repellent), this is the one for you. read more

This is my "Go To Quick" place! They seem to have a little of everything here. I can get my prescriptions, my snacks, by shampoo, my cough syrup and a BBQ all at the same time. There are a couple ladies that work here that are there almost every time I go in and they are a total hoot to talk to. They make the shopping experience! I feel that this Walgreens is always well stocked, very clean and pretty darn friendly! Keep it up guys! read more

For... * 20+ minute hold times when calling into a mildly busy pharmacy *pharmacy staff being clueless as to what their team members are doing (phone or otherwise) *staff members issuing demonic glares and uttering slander under their breath in the presence of customers / in response to customer inquires *the store manager being barely fluent and thus incapable of addressing questions or complaints ...,together, these recurring matters make me think: 'My, what are these people on?!!'
