What a delightful little park …read more I'm happy to see that this is the school mascot . I didn't know prior to today. Very tidy park and only one other person, enjoying it at the same time as me . I was a little surprised there weren't more students sitting and reading and enjoying beautiful day today in this delightful park . Enjoyable

When you are Yelp!'s #1 OUTLAW where do you hang your spurs?…read more Palmer Square at Princeton University! Why you might ask!? Because I am the least preppy and run-of-the-mill hanging-on-mom-and-dad's-expense account type. My ruggedness fits right in at 'Palmer Square' with my leather jackets and frayed jeans: the way oil and vinegar mix! That said, I enjoy my outlaw status at Princeton's angled walkways and shops and cliche coffee houses. When I enter Small World Coffee or order up at The Yankee Doodle Tap Room the women visibly gasp at my long locks and muscles in disbelief! People either think I am an astrophysicist on a hallucinogenic or a Greaser from the 1950s. The Rebel Chef has what is sorely needed in this town: frassos. Palmer Square is where all the ritzy brats in this town go to buy their $500 undershirts, Choo-choo train toys and loafers. It's a lit-up snazzy horseshoe shaped little park with some sign posts, historical markers, restaurants, bars, clothes stores, arches and bookshops. People come to walk poodles. It gets busy around here between about 10am until 3pm, after that all the monocled scientists and 'an athletic scholarship in high jump bought me my way to a degree in biology' - types go to their small dorms for long naps. Palmer Square is nonetheless an archaic but valued (if for its aura and celebrated window shopping) nexus and hub for the hamlet of Princeton. Every now and again when I come through here - I grab a pint and some bar food and enjoy the seasons. Palmer Square Review: 5

Very impressed with my first visit to D'Angelo's! I was in town for the Princeton graduation…read morefestivities, and we stopped here for lunch following the ceremonies. D'Angelo Italian Market is located a few blocks away from the Princeton campus. It is a corner store with some street parking around, along with a parking garage right across the street. I have been told parking is strictly enforced by the city around here, so make sure to pay for street parking when you go. The inside is that of an Italian deli and market, but more. There is seating inside, and also some outdoor tables. There is not table service, but you order at the counter and then can enjoy your meal. We had a part of 7, and were able to push a few tables together inside to eat. They have a ton of deli options, but also have baked goods, breads, and pizza slices that you can buy from the counter. Additionally, there is a large menu of other food items that are made to order. There are also cooler drinks to choose from. The staff were all so friendly. It appears they know their frequent customers, and they greet them as they come in. Though I was a new customer, I felt welcomed and thought all of my questions were answered in a kind manner. We ordered several items, with one being the Eggplant Rollatini for an appetizer. This was so good, as I love eggplant in Italian dishes. It was filled with cheese, but still crispy and delicious even in all the sauce. We ordered more rolls than what is on the menu since we had several people. Additionally, we sampled several of the pizza slices - Margherita Pizza, Parmigiana Pizza, Vodka Sauce Pizza. I enjoyed each of them. The crust is thin and crispy, as you would expect from a place like this. They were all good, but the classic Margherita was probably my favorite. For my sandwich, I got the Turkey Supreme Hero. It was really good and had a ton of meat on it. I love a good turkey sandwich, and this was exactly that. After seeing what the sandwiches on the rolls looked like, I probably would have gotten that instead of the Hero. Nonetheless, it was still very good. Our table got some other items, like the Princeton Tiger Hero, Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries, and a Pepperoni Roll. No one had anything they did not enjoy. Did not get the chance to try either the desserts or any of the all day breakfast items. The next time I visit, I would definitely want to try some of those menu items! Like I said, I very much enjoyed my first visit to D'Angelo's. Everything was delightful, the staff were very friendly, and I enjoyed the atmosphere of the shop. I hope to visit again next time I am in the area. Would highly recommend stopping here!

What truly sets the shop apart is the team: the staff are warm, knowledgeable, and eager to guide you to the perfect pairing, whether you arrive with a detailed brief or just tonight's dinner menu. Laurent, the owner, leads by example. His genuine passion for wine and hospitality creates an inviting atmosphere where you never feel rushed or out of your depth. Talking with him is like getting a mini masterclass, and his recommendations consistently impress. The store doesn't always have every bottle back in stock, but you can always discover an equally exciting alternative for your meal or occasion. My only request is for the city to convert the permanent parking spots directly in front of the shop into a 5-10-minute loading zone reserved for Princeton Corkscrew customers.

A WINE SHOP THAT SELLS NO BAD WINE!…read more One of the mottos we wine drinkers have frequently heard is "Life is too short to drink bad wine!" This is the credo of the Princeton Corkscrew. This well researched and mindfully assembled "wine library" has best representatives of even the tiniest microclimate where wines of note are produced. The associates working beside the owner Laurent Chapuis are well-studied connaisseurs who can talk intelligently about every bottle in the shop. Before a new bottle is placed in the racks it has been tasted and discussed by members of the team. Laurent, himself, visits the winemakers and the terroirs to select only the best examples and best vintages for his shelves. Open tastings invite we consumers to meet the makers and taste their wines including vertical samplings which educate us. I've never visited a better educated shop than the Princeton Corkscrew. And I have never bought a wine that didn't live up to its portrayal. Good advice. Good information. Good pricing. GREAT WINE! Merci Laurent!
