Missing even one dose can be life-threatening. Due to a storm, the Walgreens location where her prescription was ready was closed, but another nearby Walgreens location was open. I called to ask--very politely--if it would be possible to access her medication at that store so she would not miss a dose. The employee who answered the phone, named Arlene, was shockingly rude and dismissive. After briefly explaining she would have to contact the other pharmacis, she rudely stated, "I don't get paid enough for this," and then hung up on me. This was not a minor inconvenience or a casual question. This involved a child's life-saving medication. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and concern for patient safety was alarming. I was left extremely distressed and shaken by the interaction. I understand that pharmacies can be busy and that policies exist, but no parent advocating for their medically fragile child should ever be treated this way--especially by someone working in a healthcare setting. I hope Walgreens takes this seriously and ensures better training and accountability. No family should have to experience this while trying to protect their child's health.
