It's in an old movie house. Not that this matters. It was the only place in KW that I encountered a panhandler. He was out front laying on the street casually asking for a handout. Not that this matters, but I'm not used to this activity around here. Clerks were always nice. Beer was cold. I prefer this Walgreens over the outrageously priced Rite Aids. read more

Walgreens can be hit or miss, and this visit fell into the miss category. They didn't carry a product you would typically expect in a full-size store. We ended up going to CVS instead, where we found exactly what we needed. read more

Everytime we are in Key West we always end up grabbing something in this Walgreens on the Duval strip, usually its an ice cold water bottle. Depending on what were doing they seem to sell a liitle of everything. For example, we purchased playing cards for our chill time back at the hotel or suntan lotion. The prices appear in check with any other Walgreens for merchandise. This location is usually very busy. read more

Incredibly disappointing experience. We went in around 7:45 PM. I was overcharged for sodas (bought 3 packs, charged for 4) and I went back in within 2 minutes, and the employee who originally helped us disappeared. Of course, I got someone else (Jean-Andre Romulus) who was incredibly rude, kept pointing to the receipt in a way to tell me that I got an extra (I didn't), and tried to make me feel incompetent. He told me the other employee was on lunch break. I'm pretty level-headed about this, but he seemed to not understand what the issue was or was interested in learning how to understand or address my concern. Needless to say, he refused to help me, handed the receipt back, and said "I can't help you." I called corporate, reported him, and got my money back from them. I told the employee I contacted corporate and he refused to acknowledge me or make eye contact. read more

This is one of the prettiest Walgreens stores you would ever visit. The drugstore occupies the building of the old Strand Theater. The theater opened in 1921 on Duval St in the heart of Key West. Back then this Strand Theater sat 800 people, offering southern Floridians a look at silent films and the latest talking pictures of the day, the Strand Theatre operated into the 1980's, losing out to home theaters and movies complexes, it closed for a while, then in 1993 it became the home of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium. When that closed, a few other businesses tried the location. Then Walgreens bought the property in early 2002, restoring the marquee and retaining the interior balcony. Many of the historic elements of the theater were saved, including its façade, marquee, various aspects of the interior, the lobby tile, marble stairs, and wood floors. It is a novel store front and the exception for a nationwide chain of 7,000 cookie-cutter drugstores that operate in every state of America. The inside looks much like any other Walgreens with the distinct aisles, signs and merchandise. The checkout area is large and there were a few registers opened when I visited. They have a good selection of souvenirs inside for those who want to get a memento of their visit to the Keys. read more

Probably the prettiest Walgreens you'll ever seen. In an old theatre. Inside is a whole other story. Like paying $15 for sunscreen? Then this is the place for you. One of the beer fridges wasn't working, so some drinks were room temperature. Line for checkout was crazy long. But the staff was great. read more

Horrible customer service. Purchased items that were clearly labelled OTC eligible and when it was not registering when scanned, the cashier literally didn't provide an explanation. She didn't even speak, not sure if she didn't speak English or what but you should at least be bilingual if you are going to work as a cashier in a tourist location. The pharmacy here DOES NOT CARE about human beings, our health, or the medication we require to stay functioning. After the airline lost our luggage with important medication in it, we tried refilling at this Walgreens. Even though our insurance was ready to approve the prescription right away, the man we spoke at the pharmacy STILL hasn't called to confirm the prescription and it's been over 4 days since we called to make an emergency order. This is cruel and disgusting behaving that's certainly nowhere close to the corner of happy or healthy. read more

Well I mean the pharmacy is located inside of what looks like an old movie theater. I saw only one worker at the register and I did not notice anyone inside the space. She was less than interested in making small talk. I guess being on an island i May have gotten. Spoiled by the island hospitality so be it. I stayed in the apartment above this Walgreens for a week. Judging by all the noise they are always busy. That's great for them; maybe not so great for whoever lives there after my friends. I really enjoyed the convenience of it, though. I could pop downstairs and grab any essentials I needed and pick up anything I forgot to bring on my trip. They are dog friendly, which made bringing the pooch while running errands fun and easy. We stopped in here a couple times throughout my stay to grab coconut water, ice cream bars, cheap water shoes (They run big - I think I got a size 7 that fit well and I could possibly have fit a 6. I'm an 8.5 in regular shoes), and aloe lotion for my inevitable sunburn. I was impressed by this particular Walgreens for 2 reasons: 1) They have a wide selection of things I've never found at another Walgreens such as spray paint and a gigantic food and booze section and 2) This building may be the most iconic place in which a Walgreens is situated. I'm so very glad they've kept the Strand intact for the most part. It fits in well with the other buildings on Duval Street and positively glows at night. read more

24 Hours - Very Convenient! - Nevertheless, things @ this location are super expensive. Place reminded me of the Walgreens location in Las Vegas on the strip. Why do you guys have to price gauge us consumers? Anyways - they did have some cool little nick knacks for sale. Limited parking - But, for us City Folk - Not a problem. Awesomeness!! A great place for toiletries that you forgot or had to throw out at the airport security gate. They have ice cold beverages, disposable cameras, and all manner of souvenirs. (T-shirts, playing cards, magnets, postcards, towels, hats, basically anything emblazoned with "Key West.") When I go back I will stock up on postcards here because they are 20 cents (or 25 cents) a piece. There were tourist shops down by Mallory Square selling 2 regular size postcards for a dollar. Was in there last weekend. It was "pre-spring break" according to the woman who blocked me from the bathroom. She said the bathrooms were closed bc they had over $2,000 of damage last year. Problem was 2 other employees had already told me where the bathrooms were and sent me on the journey to the potty. Post a sign if you are going to close your bathrooms. I wouldn't have spent money there to be a paying customer just to be able to use the bathroom. The whole place looked about a filthy as the bar next door that did have a bathroom! read more

Your run of the mill Walgreens with a few twists...it's located inside a converted old school movie theater and it's open 24 hours. A great spot to get some bottled water to take back to your hotel room after a bar crawl up Duval street. Prices seem to be the same as any other Walgreens even though it's in the heart of the Key West strip. read more

I was so grateful to have this place right on Duval Street. If you are staying in one of the hotels in the area, you know how pricey and crazy things are. The prices at this Walgreen's aren't any different than anywhere else. They are also open late and have souvenirs to boot. What can you say about a store that has everything you need while you stumble your way back to your hotel/condo/cottage? The staff here is great- can you imagine having to deal with all the drunken people that come in here daily and still smile and help them? This is a very well stocked Walgreens and as space is a premium in Key West, it's pretty tightly packed. Right on Duval, very convenient, no price gouging because they are right on Duval. Never have I ever been so offended and appalled in a retail establishment. The manager told me to stop looking through the flip flops because they close in 10 minutes. My friend stepped on glass in the upstairs bathroom and he came upstairs and said we need to figure it out somewhere else because they close in 5 minutes. He refused to give me his name, business card, supervisors card or any information. I asked the cashier and he yelled at her not to tell me anything. He said I could write my name down myself and covered his name badge and refused to give me a pen. Awful awful awful experience read more

It is just a normal Walgreens inside, but I love how they have kept the beautiful façade outside and restored it. This is one of the more interesting looking store fronts on Duval street, and it great to see it looking so good now. read more

A touristy version of the national chain. Pharmacy used for a refill and took some time for the transfer due to miscommunication within the staff. Checkout always seems slower than need be at the front counter. A big frustration is that they never seem to have items like vitamins marked with promotional offers. read more

I went into this Walgreens on Duval street to pick up a snack and a drink. It was about 4 am and I think I was the only non-employee in the store. I looked at the mini drink cooler by the door for a minute, then deciding those drinks were too expensive, I continued further into the store. I saw an interesting looking wooden alligator toy on a shelf, and I picked it up and studied it for a short time, then put it back where I found it. I then started down the candy isle, touching a Christmas tree ornament with 1 finger as I passed it. Then, immediately, an employee jumped to action from where he had been standing/sitting, and started to follow me. He came right up to me, within my "personal space" boundary, and asked "can I help you?" in a very firm and aggressive voice. I said "No" and continued down the candy isle, touching a few bags of candy with 1 finger as I tried to decide which one I wanted. The man briskly walked back the way he had came, circled around another isle and popped up at the end of the candy isle, directly in front of the direction I was heading. He stared at me firmly, as someone tends to do when they are watching a shoplifter. I knew what he was doing, and was insulted by it, yet I didn't say anything and continued looking for some food. I then went around an endcap and entered the "snack" isle, as I will call it. The man moved over from the end of the candy isle, to the end of the snack isle, and continued staring at me. I was pretty aggitated at this point but I kept walking, passing the nuts, crackers, raisins, etc. Finally I decided I wanted some Walgreens brand pizza rolls and a Walgreens brand orange soda. I turned past another endcap at the front of the store and entered the "chip" isle, where the angry employee rushed up to block my path, and once again in a very threatening voice says "CAN I HELP YOU?". Fed up with my obvious treatment as a criminal even though I had done nothing and was trying to buy something, I said "NO, I already told you that 5 minutes ago when you asked me before". Now this story is getting too long, so I will cut it short. He said that I was "Touching things" and that is what shoplifters do, and that is why he was following me because he KNEW I was going to shoplift something because I was "touching things". I put my finger on a wine bottle and said "am I going to shoplift this bottle now? and he said "YES". I left without buying anything, and surely he thought he "won" and "scared away a shoplifter" but no... he made an enemy out of a previous loyal customer. And before I left, when I said that I was planning on buying pizza rolls and a drink but now I would not, he assured me that he did not care that he lost my business. And he told me he was the store manager. I wish I could rate this store 0 stars, but I have to deal with 1. read more
