Bought a pink opal pendant and 18" sterling silver chain. She was very helpful and had a beautiful selection of hand made pendants, the most I've ever seen. That's including Caribbean islands. I wish she had a website to purchase more. read more

It was a pleasure to shop at Local Color today. Such colorful clothes throughout the store, well -displayed, led me to the great casual brand I love for tops: HABITAT. There was a big display of different styles, and it was well-stocked in sizes. The staff is available if you want help, and I liked being left alone on my own. Want to thank Local Color for stepping up and replacing a pair of earrings for my wife after the pair she bought there last year proved to be defective. She lost the conch in one earring when the glue failed. Sent them back to Local Color and they sent her a replacement pair. Things fail or go bad--it's how businesses respond to problems that makes the difference. Thanks for the responsive customer service. Excellent customer service -- I was vacationing and made a purchase. first I took a ring back because it ended up being too large and it was exchanged, no questions asked, and she didn't even ask for the receipt. Then an item broke as soon as I got home (my fault sort of) and they shipped a replacement right away. I thought prices were reasonable. I'd shop there again! read more

Rude older lady at the counter. I was buying bandanas for the 4th of July and wanted to pay with a card. She said the bill had to be $10 or higher . so I told her that I would get 3 bandanas and she rolled her eyes and seemed offended that she would still have to run my card. She was so rude that my friend just gave her money for 3 bandanas and we left. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I WILL NEVER GO IN AGAIN. As a 50 year old lady with homes in NYC, Seattle and a house on Fleming Street, Key West, I found myself in a fast need for a new outfit. I have found great linen items here before so I walked in. I got a simple 'hello' as the two sales ladies chatted with each other at the counter. Then I got "If you need another size let me know". Then I was left alone including when I walked into a fitting room with 4 items. Nothing fit me sadly. I walked out of the fitting room and politely re-hung up the 4 items where I had found them. I left the store. Then, to my embarrassment, the sales woman follows me out suddenly accusing me of stealing the 4 items. I had to show her my empty black leather bag and then she accused me of having another bag, which I did not. She demanded to know what I did with the items. I told her I hung up the items in their original spots and she didn't believe me. I had to go back into the store and show her. No Apology. Just a 'Well, ok'. Ladies, if you weren't so busy chatting with each other at the counter instead of offering some polite conversation or attention to your customer... you might have known what was going on in your store. That would have been a better experience for me instead of being chased down by a saleswoman with her awful accusations. My husband and I stopped into Local Color March 27th. Bought a bead for my Pandora bracelet and a necklace for our daughter as a thank you for watching the dog and cat while we were gone. We got home April 2nd, gave her the gift and she was so excited she put it right on. That night while out to dinner with a friend the necklace just all of a sudden fell apart. I am embarrassed that it happened and if I am ever back in Key West, I will not go to Local Color for another necklace. read more

I have been to Key West twice and make it a point to come here. It has unique jewelry that is reasonably priced. I left both times with multiple items. I have only ever bought jewelry here (which I think is their main business), I can't speak to the quality of the clothes or other souvenirs. I would recommend that jewelry lovers stop by here when they are in the area. read more

Terrific shop with friendly attentive service. We walked in this shop thinking it wasn't for us, but Mona, our sales person, knew her stuff and her clothing. She took into account our style and body types and recommended some great finds I never would have looked at previously. So comfy and cozy, and looks great too. Perfect for warmer weather. After a wonderful time finding must haves, she inquired as to the rest of our day and when she heard we were taking a shuttle back later in the evening, she offered to hold all of our bags there (not just the bags from her shop) and made sure we would meet her before closing. And gave us her cell phone. The she recommended some good places to eat nearby. The owner was also there and made some good suggestions. While we there there during a busy holiday weekend, partying tourists sometimes wandered in and didn't act the nicest. For instance several interrupted the sales staff while they were talking to customers and demanded attention. Some were in wet swimsuits, more appropriate for the poolside bar down the street. So take the other reviews with a grain of salt. Some people like to complain rather than uplift. read more

I'm not one to write yelp reviews, but just wanted to add my two cents after seeing the current posts here. Local Color is easily my favorite jewelry store -- not just in Key West, but anywhere (I've been back a few times and have to say that this store is responsible for about half of the jewelry I own.) I am very picky about jewelry -- I like big, one-of-a-kind pieces with simple settings and natural, beautiful stones. Those are very hard to find and usually very pricey. Local Color not only has an awesome selection of unique,beautiful, and high-quality jewelry, but it also has very good prices for what you get. My favorite piece is a big,gorgeous turquoise ring That I got for $200. Seems expensive, but when I've shopped for turquoise elsewhere, that size of ring (if the store even has it) goes for $400 easily. Local Color also has a huge selection of other less expensive rings, made out of more common things like coral, shiva shell, and other sparkly stuff. It also sells the cheaper jewelry that you'll find on the rest if the island -- the stuff that is not very durable, but very affordable. I prefer to save up and buy one beautiful, high-quality piece. The clothes are beautiful and, for their material and quality, are well-priced. Again, it's not cheap, but it's good product. Every time I've gone in (which has been a lot over the years), the employees have always been super nice -- helpful when you need them and unobtrusive when you don't. They'll stay open late for you and will help you navigate their huge selection without being pushy. Definitely worth a visit if you like nice, unique jewelry and clothing. read more
