We had just arrived in town and needed to pick up a few essential items. It's not a huge supermarket, but we found most of what we were looking for. There was a good selection of produce, dairy, snacks, and beverages. Of course, there's always a bit of sticker shock when shopping in a small tourist town, but that's part of the price of visiting paradise. Definitely a place we would return to. Excellent grocery store that has a few parking spots that makes it easy for handicap people to get in and out. Excellent deli - try their sandwiches. As has been mentioned previously, yes you will pay a little bit more but the convenience and the employees are extremely friendly and helpful and the choices for food items and fresh vegetables are excellent. Ridiculous Bad Service. After loading my cart with over $150 worth of products, I went to pay and asked for a triple bag. I was commuting with a scooter with no basket and wanted to put the bag over the handlebar on the scooter. The cashier and (I think the manager) told me I could get a double bag but not a triple bag. I told them that was ridiculous and that they could put away all the groceries on the conveyer belt.......and then I walked out. DUMB DUMB DUMB! read more

I really like shopping at Fausto's Food Palace on Fleming Street. Started in 1926 Fausto's the oldest continuing running business in Key West. It's also a neighborhood grocery store close to Old Town Key West. It's also close to where I stay, being the Simonton Court Historic Inn. Being a local neighborhood, one treat you get while shopping here is running into some of the locals and local characters for which Key West is so well known. And where else would you see a "You Can't Beat Our Meat" t-shirt or what other grocery store holds itself out not to be a store, but a "palace." Like everything else in Key West, it's pricier but considering where you are, not unreasonably so. I recently moved to Key West. We now live just a block away from Fausto's, so it is certainly convenient! Expect to pay for that convenience. Key West, especially Old Town, can be pretty pricy but at Fausto's expect to pay $1.49 a pound for bananas that are 79 cents a pound everywhere else, $7-8 for a box of cereal, or $6 for a small pack of Velveeta cheese slices. The store is clean, the employees are friendly, and I will most likely continue to shop here occasionally since I am now in the area ... but probably only when I run out of something and I don't want to drive all the way to Publix or Winn Dixie. read more

Great neighborhood grocery (I hesitate to say "supermarket") store, very down-home. (You have to love it that they self-style as a "palace.") Extensive produce selection. Clean. (I only visited the Fleming Street store, I believe there are two locations in Key West.) But let me get right to the point: any place that sells store t-shirts with emblazoned with "You Can't Beat Our Meat" deserves more stars than Yelp has or ever will have. Not what you'll find at your typical IGA or Price Chopper, although there is that Key West rep to live up to. I was also impressed with the selection of birthday and other occasion cards done by a local photographer. I came here to purchase lunch meat and the advertised price was posted on the wall at the deli counter for all to see. When the label was printed it showed an incorrect price which was much higher and the owner/ manager did not want to give me the advertised price until I insisted. She finally adjusted the price and had the nerve to say really loud for all to hear that I just saved a whopping few cents. Great prepared food section at the back offering delicious vegetarian dishes like broccoli, carrot edamame salad with a wasabi cream dressing or quinoa veggie salad with a zesty vinaigrette. This is the only proper grocery store in the main part of the island, i.e. not a 7/11 type store or a bodega. If you need food and don't have a car, this is the place to go. It's a large store with multiple aisles. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies and loads of wonderful cheeses. As mentioned in other reviews, it is pricy but - you are paying for convenience and it's still cheaper than going out to eat. For example, a pack of raspberries was $5.99 and bananas were 99c / lb. My only complaint was with the deli. It's slow, even if you are on Island Time. I bought two hard boiled eggs (59c/each). When I got home to eat them they were runny. Not even soft-boiled but barley cooked. Not worth going back for a refund. A cute note - the owner was stocking the shelf when I was looking at the meat and made a suggestion. Provisioning for a Bahamas crossing can be a tricky prospect in a town you may not be familiar with. In a town like Key West, you could end up grocery shopping at a glorified convenience store. Not Faustos, though. Actually recommended to me from a bartender at the brewery by the docks this grocery store is proper. It's got a great selection of anything you'll need for jot only provisioning, but daily considerations. It's hot just pantry items either but a healthy selection of daily breads, dairy, frozen foods, and fresh catch. It's about a half mile walk from the docks but an Uber or hand cart turns that trip into child's play with plenty of scenery along the way, hey, it's Key West! read more

TERRIBLE customer service. I guess one of the qualifications to work there is crappy customer service. Not only is the majority of the staff RUDE, they are unfriendly and unhelpful. OVER PRICED, for the convenience which I would have no problem paying for if you received quality, friendly service. Something the White Street location doesn't offer, the Fleming store isn't much better either. Convenience isn't worth it anymore. If I have to go to the dreaded Publix or got without, I guess that's my choice. This being a "family owned business" does not guarantee fresh quality or wonderful service, Possibly Jimmy is out of touch how his staff relate to their consumers. (There's one on White Street that I could review, but I'm not going to, because 99% of you are never going there unless you live here or pretend you do....or really have a bad travel agent that put you in some out-of-the-way accomodations.) Big points because it's local, and Key West is in danger of losing some of the local flavor that it's always been able to retain, because evil developers and some speculative but unscrupulous types try to homogenize the island. NOTE TO KEY WESTERS: People come to your island because you're unique. Add McDonald's, CVS Pharmacies, "luxury" condos and Krogers/Publix/Winn-Dixies and you eliminate the character. Big points because they deliver. And that includes beer & wine. Little points for having a decent wine selection and an ok selection of fresh fruits & veggies. Negative points for a piss-poor seafood selection. Ditto for the meats. Very Key West, and in need of your support to stave off the Grocery-In-A-Big-Boxes of the world. read more

Its one thing to be quaint and in keeping with Key West old world traditions; and another to be dated and overpriced. Sorry...everything here is 25-35% more then other places. Locals who traded in their automobile to live in old town and ride their bicycle to food shop get ripped off every day. Smaller sized upscale markers like Josephs in Palm Beach county have a vastly superior upscale assortment, and prices that often beat the big box stores. To make matters worse service is so slow. The deli counter seems to take forever, prepared foods look old and nasty ...and limited, meat is choice but prices like prime and produce is nothing special...and expensive. I think this place seriously needs updating, better choices and more affordable prices. I fail to see any charm or advantage to shopping here. read more

This place is relevant only because there is no other grocery store in the vicinity. I stayed in the area for a month and during a whole month i had several visits there (only reason being lack of other options) so more than qualified to write a reliable review. I pay attention to eat fresh and organic but there was almost nothing fresh and organic in that store, not even one time I left happy. How difficult is it to keep a few pieces of vegetables fresh? Extremely over-priced, under-stocked, rotting organic veggies and fruits, only a few items, that is all. And an abundance of chemical filled canned packaged groceries.. They changed management twice while I was there but no improvement has been observed. Too bad.. read more

I went here twice and found it to be more than adequate for what it is. I can't speak to the produce but hesitate to rate it less than four stars as we were able to find everything we wanted and needed in addition to being distracted by other interesting options offered.
