The staff here at the Elden location are rude & obviously disengaged. I sent my husband to pick up a package (a wine gift from CA) that was forwarded from FedEx. The shipment understandably required signature from an adult in the same address. My husband showed his ID & the staff refused to release the package. He left angrily after the employee & manager couldn't seem to exercise any good judgment or common sense regarding this issue. Why the hell does Walgreens enforce ID policies that are above & beyond FedEx's very own guidance? At any rate, despite the fact that I was self-isolating due to Covid exposure, I was forced to come to your location & collect the package myself. The entire staff there was just demotivated, not even smiling or greeting customers. There was a 4-person line waiting at the pickup counter & even 15 minutes later, we were never even acknowledged. The 2 ladies & the gentleman ahead of me had to request assistance at least 4 times before we got someone to take care of us. Joel Barnes then came to assist; he does not even apologize or greet us. When I showed him my ID, he curtly complained to me that my husband tried to identify himself as me & threw 2 boxes at him. He said, "That's not okay." I explained to Mr. Barnes that my husband shares the same last name and address and is well over 21 and should have been able to sign for the damn package. To avoid any further back & forth with this obviously disgruntled person, I just ended the conversation by saying, "Whatever--- I just need to get my package & never deal with Walgreens ever again...". I highly recommend some customer service training to all staff at the Elden location especially to Joel Barnes who obviously did not seem to want to be there. I suspect the employees there are modeling the same bad behavior from the leadership & unfortunately this reflects poorly on Walgreens. Worst experience ever with a pharmacy (and even just customer service in general); Jen in the pharmacy was rude, ignorant, uninformed, and unwilling to be helpful. Swore they didn't have our prescription; but when I called my doctor the doctor's office had confirmation from Walgreens that the prescription was received. Jen's response, "I don't know what to tell you." Even the receptionist at our doctor's office said she has never been treated so rudely by a pharmacy. I'm at a loss - after this experience, and reading the endless negative reviews here, management clearly has no self respect or dignity, and clearly just doesn't care. read more

This by far has to be the least efficient and WORST run pharmacy that I've EVER used. The people running this pharmacy are disorganized and clueless. I've used this pharmacy for two years and there seems to be an issue with EVERY single prescption. First off, the wait times to drop off an Rx are outrageous. Waits of 20 to 30 minutes inside pharmacy are are common as are 30+ minute waits in the drive thru even though there only 1 or 2 cars in front of the line. The real fun comes during pick-up time. You first have to wait in the long lines...again. The lines aren't long in so much as the service is painfully slow. Then, even though you've given them several hours to 2 days, even though you've received a text saying your prescription is ready, when you get to the cashier, invariably, it's still not ready. If you are lucky, they will say they are sorry and tell you it will be ready in 10 minutes, which means another 20+ minute wait in line. If you aren't lucky, they will tell you they don't have enough medication, even though they checked when you dropped it off and they did jave enough at the time, or say they wanted to wait to fill it until they told you about the high price..even though you've gotten the same script many times before. Today, I went to pick up an Rx exactly 71 days from the date i was given a 72 day supply (instead of the 90 day suplly they said was available when I dropped script off) and they told me I couldn't pickup my refill dor 14 days! After doing the math with the pharmacist, he realized his mistake and of course told me it would take 10 minutes to fill. In total, it took 35 minutes to pickup a prescriotion dropped off on Friday, even though I got a text yesterday saying ot was ready. I've stayed with this Walgreens store due to convenience and location but I'm done. A pharmacy 10 minutes further away that is half way competent, will still save me time and be a less stressful experience. read more

I used to love going to the pharmacy when Joan was there. She knew you by name and was always so helpful. However, since she left the place has gone to hell. Very high turnover in the pharmacy with techs. Forget about the drive in, it's worse than standing in the 10 deep people in line inside the store. Photo department never has anyone available for pick up or drop off. I will transfer my 16 prescriptions to a more efficient pharmacy. read more

Came here to get a flu shot for my daughter who has military insurance. They guy quoted us 45 minutes to wait for our paperwork to fill out.... no line. We had to get it done at Walgreens because CVS (which took 15 min from beginning to end) doesn't partner with TriCare Prime. Long story short, Walgreens is terrible at managing walk in flu shots. DONT drop prescriptions off here. The pharmacy is ignorant, looses prescriptions, and does not submit prescriptions through insurance. I have paid full price for my medications all year until my insurance company reached out to me. Multiples times they "haven't received" prescriptions from my doctor when I've already called my doctor telling me they sent it over. While I like the selection of Walgreen's in their standard store, I was just treated terribly at the pharmacy. I came in with a prescription to be filled and a new insurance card, asked to have it filled while I browse, and basically waited 45 minutes to find out the initial pharmacy tech I talked to had neglected to tell me they don't take my new insurance, and hadn't actually filled my Rx. I had to have my prescriptions sent to the CVS down the street, which I could have picked up by now if I hadn't been jerked around. Instead I have to wait 2+ more hours for CVS to get all of my information from Walgreen's. read more

Never in my life have I dealt with such incompetent people. This review is strictly for the pharmacy department. I stood at the window waiting to speak to someone for literally 10 whole minutes. During this time... there were about 6 people working in the pharmacy department and not single one asked me if I was being helped but continued to make eye contact with me.. and answer pharmacy phone calls. When I eventually got help...it was so terrible that I decided to leave and to get my shot somewhere else because I truly didn't feel comfortable letting them give me a shot. I called in my RX refill for Saturday for Saturday pickup. Went Sunday drive thru, they could only partially fill, come back Monday. I come back Monday nite in drive thru, and they tell me they are working on it, go home and wait and come back. I said NO, I will wait in the parking lot and you can call my cell phone when it is ready. 25 minutes go by and I walk in the store and said YOU were supposed to call me. She said the system should have. I emailed my Dr on way out asking for mail order RX. It will be cheaper and I won't have this nonsense. They get 2 stars ONLY for drive thru convenience. Nice to have a pharmacy/drug store in Herndon again after the Rite Aid closed! The store is fresh and clean, the employees are incredibly friendly and helpful. (Frankly, I feel like I've stepped into a different part of the country when I go in there.) They seem to carry a little of everything, office supplies, toys, makeup, cards, and they even have a small grocery section that carries smaller-than-normal packages of food. Hard to explain, but useful, like the 8oz soda cans. Pleased to see them in town, and hope they keep up the great work. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY. I've used this pharmacy for years however recently in the past four months they have completely gone downhill. I constantly have trouble getting prescriptions filled. The automated system sends texts to my phone saying prescriptions are ready. I get to the pharmacy waiting in the drive-through line for over 20 minutes to find out the prescription is not filled or they don't have the medication at all. Often the excuse is my doctor hasn't responded. I call the doctors to find out no one from the pharmacy has contacted them. Better yet, my doctor sends requests for refills three and four times. Or they tell me they are having trouble with their automated system. Fix it! Ridiculous! I'm done! taking my business to another pharmacy. What a shame! read more

I sort of like browsing Walgreens shelves. It is pretty anonymous and they leave you alone. Being foreign tourist (language) it sometimes is stressful in shops when everyone is asking if you've been help as soon as you look the least lost or thoughtful. This place has good enough stock and you can find most things, even adapters for power outlets. Decent range of medication. But I actually didn't find plasters for chafed feet. I go to this Pharmacy, because I find all the other ones in Herndon to be worse. The inside of the place is pretty beat down and shabby. Some of the staff is friendly, some others not at all. The pharmacy staff is very overwhelmed as it seems - it usually takes very long to get my prescriptions filled and several times they filled them wrong and I had to go back. This should not happen. They need to give this place an overhaul and hire more people for the pharmacy! read more

This is about the pharmacy. I had gone in to drop off my prescription but the lady said it will not be ready until tomorrow..i guess she did not want to work since it is Friday. So I decided to go to another pharmacy but they said they could not fill my prescription because walgreens had already filled them out..that is because my doctor also sent over electronically so i went back to walgreen and asked to speak to the manager because i wanted to cancel my prescription but she said she doesnt have them but I informed her that i just got a call from walgreens saying my prescription are ready. All she did was look up my name and say that there is no prescription here for me and just walked way..so normally a customer will get mad if the supervisor acts like the customer mean nothing to them. After arguing with the supervisor she told me to "Get the **** out of here" very nice thing to say to a customer. Tried to get a prescription filled there. I have insurance with a $0 co-pay and have never had issues going to CVS but Walgreens was closer so thought I'd try to go there for my prescriptions. It was called in by my dr at 10am. I went at 5:30, and after waiting 20 minutes to get to talk with someone, I was told it wasn't filled yet but they'd get it ready for me right away. After another 10 minutes, they tell me that it will cost me $15. I explained I have a $0 copay with my insurance and the told me they were sorry but it was the best they could do and asked me if I usually go to CVS. They told me it would be better for me to go to CVS to get it filled. I couldn't believe it but left and headed to CVS. At CVS they took my information and had to call to get the prescription transferred. The pharmacist put it on speaker and we heard a recording saying there were two people ahead of him and they would answer shortly. After 30 minutes, we are still sitting at CVS, still hearing the recording which now says he is next in line. This is by far the worst experience I've ever encountered. If you need to get a prescription filled, whatever you do, don't go to Walgreens on Elden St in Herndon, VA. read more

Literally the worst experience. The pharmacist got rude because I gave him my dental insurance for a dental prescription. He said he needed something else, and I provided it as he repeatedly told me why I was "wrong" to even think to give him that. Then, right when I sat down to wait, someone else working at the pharmacy told me that my insurance didn't cover my prescription, but they were looking for a generic option and that if they weren't able to find anything, it'd be $17 with no insurance. I told them that's great and thanked them. Then when I get up there to pay, the person ringing me out made sure I was aware that the prescription wasn't covered by my insurance. I explained what I had been told, and the pharmacist ran up to loudly and angrily explain that they don't "do" generic and that if my insurance doesn't cover name brand, it won't cover generic. Which is a LIE. He said the other person must have misunderstood, because he refuses to check for generic. The price was also over TWICE the amount specified earlier if insurance wouldn't cover ($17). The staff working at the pharmacy were fine, but the PHARMACIST is absolutely horrible. I'm convinced he either gets paid more if I pay out of pocket or he just really hates his job and does not care to help customers. I wish I checked reviews before I went! Terrible! I scheduled an appointment online for a regular vaccine (not Covid related). I got a confirmation email. I tried calling the pharmacy before going but hung up after waiting 45 minutes with no one answering. When I got there, I waited 10 minutes at the front desk only to be told they were out of ALL vaccines (every type) becuase their fridge was broken. When I asked to speak with the pharmacist, someone else came over and said it wasn't their fault because it is their IT system. Ok, but why don't they contact their regional management about the system schedule appointments for a specific vaccine when the vaccine is out of stock? When I asked if they could call another Walgreens to see if they had it in stock, I was told no they are tol bsuy. I then asked for the regional office number to complain and was told they aren't allowed to give that information! And then, to top it off, I looked down and saw a huge roach wriggling on the floor. Horrible customer service today at the pharmacy drive thru. Was totally ignored for 10 minutes while I sat there. Only one customer at counter inside. Beeped horn to be acknowledged. Bald pharmacist turned around and gave me a snarky look. Finally, a tech came to the window and said he would be right back with me. Then took over 5 minutes to find my Rx. Followed this experience with going through my bank and Chick Fil A's drive thrus. Both acknowledged my presence immediately and processed my service requests timely. Shame on Walgreens. read more

The worst Walgreens, especially the photo department. They have "lost" my order twice. The first time I received an email saying my order was ready. I went to pick up and they could not find and had no answer why. I even showed them my email saying it was ready. The next time I ordered, I called to make sure it was ready and employee on the phone said it was ready. I came to pick up and again they couldn't find my order. I walked in, went around and got my iPod out of my pocket to check the time, suddenly i received a sign "i got my eye on you" from the woman (probably store manager or something) . A pharmacy to avoid. We called them in advance to check if they had a certain vaccine in stock and were told they had it by the assistant pharmacist. When we showed up 15 minutes later, the head pharmacist told us that the vaccine had been out of stock for months. Disappointed, we returned home and called again to ask why we were told it was in stock when it wasn't. The same assistant picked up, denied that we had talked to her, and tried to blame it on her colleagues, however we clearly recognized her voice. We're not necessarily upset that the vaccination wasn't in stock as mistakes can happen, however denying and lying about the conversation makes it difficult to trust this pharmacy again. read more

It is a pain to switch pharmacies, but I am at the breaking point. I'm diabetic, so that means multiple trips to the pharmacy in a month. Last month I refilled my prescription (RX) for insulin using Walgreens' iPhone app and got my confirmation. I go to pick up my RX after work, pushing 9:00pm, and they tell me that they were unable to refill my RX as I was, according to their flawed system, trying to refill before the month of my RX elapsed. This was incorrect. After spending upwards of twenty (20) minutes trying to find some common ground, I leave. Only to be called on my cell phone two (2) minutes later with a chirpy comment that my RX was ready for pickup, no mention of the bug in the system, or an acknowledgement that they were in the wrong and regretted wasting my time. I didn't have the energy to deal that night, and opted to not eat dinner so that I would have sufficient insulin to carry me into the next day without going into hyperglycemic shock. I picked up my RX the next morning without incident. If this wasn't the most convenient pharmacy, I would have switched then and there. This was with the manager (Sue?). Then, just this past Monday 21 October 2013 I had another problem. I attempted to refill some RX Cough Syrup that helps me sleep through the night with a cold, and is MUCH less expensive (not to mention, more effective) than Nyquil. Same attempted refill scenario as above, but this time, instead of "attempting to refill within the month" the claim was that I didn't actually have a refill, despite my presentation of my empty bottle with "partial refill remaining until 28 November 2013" printed on the label. After some discussion, the man who was "assisting me" said that he would fill it, if I could wait fifteen (15) minutes. I said sure, I was desperate to sleep through the night. After twenty (20) minutes had elapsed, where I was curious as to why I hadn't been paged, I went back to the counter and he (Johnn I think?) said, "Uh, sorry, I couldn't fill it after all." I asked a whole myriad of questions, including, why didn't you page me and tell me this earlier, and he just kept saying, "I don't know". Um, wow. I was resolved to go back in the next day to give the manager a piece of my mind and see who I needed to talk to get these "system errors and misprints" fixed, but that's not my job, and I have no faith that it would be worth my time. I have never had any issues at the Nutley/Fairfax location. I was actually excited to be closer to a Walgreens when I moved from Falls Church to Herndon, no longer. read more

I'd give zero stars to the pharmacy if I could. Dropped off a prescription at 1:00pm and was told it would be ready 5-6pm. I go through the drive-thru at 5:55 and a man (I can't see bc of the sun glare) told me they were "working on it. Give me 10 minutes". I say okay and make a quick stop before coming back, this time going inside since there were several cars in the drive-thru. As soon as my son's record was pulled up on the computer, the woman makes a face and said "I don't think we have any in stock". I repeat the convo from 20 minutes before and she goes to check. Not only do they not have any in stock, they can't fill it until Thursday since the order can't be placed until tomorrow. So now, I'm without my son's necessary meds and have wasted an entire day. While getting photos developed, after being told that someone would be right over, waited 20 minutes and finally just went behind the counter and got them myself. Luckily I checked and found out that a few pictures were missing. Had to wait another 15 minutes to have the right ones found, redeveloped. All that after preordering photos!!! read more
