I'd give this place a solid 3 stars, not to mention its open until midnight. This location is pretty big and had a decent selection of the item I was looking for. The store looked pretty clean and things seem well organized. I would have given this place 4 stars but one thing I've noticed in the CVS in Virginia near me is there's no self check kiosks as compared to several of the DC stores. Its somewhat frustrating for me because I lost my extra care card years ago and seriously cannot recall the phone number that it was under at least the self service kiosks you can use the courtesy card so at least you can get the discounts. But that's an overall gripe amongst the various VA locations. Otherwise the staff was courteous and helpful. read more

I called for a 2025 pharmacy expense report several weeks ago; they told me they would mail it. It never arrived. So I called again last week and was told (again) that they would mail it. It is now Thursday of THIS week (so the old excuse of blaming the Post Office for the slow mail doesn't fly). We STILL have not received the expense report. I visited this CVS location for a flu vaccination after scheduling an appointment. We arrived on time, checked in at the pharmacy, and waited for the shot. After 10 minutes, I asked how much longer it would take, and the employee responded that it would be another 20-25 minutes. When I mentioned having an appointment, he dismissively said appointments are not guaranteed. This raises the question: why bother scheduling an appointment if it results in a 30-minute wait? The employee, Saeed, appeared uninterested in doing his job and seemed intent on making the process so difficult that we would leave--which we eventually did. His unprofessional behavior and lack of empathy are unacceptable in the healthcare industry. I will never visit this location again. I agree with one of the previous review. This cvs was the worst I've been to. I've been filling here mainly for convenience because I live so close by, but my recent experience has convinced me to transfer my prescriptions elsewhere. I experienced an allergic reaction and urgent care sent my rx over to my cvs. Every visit there's always about 7 people in line, two available registers but only 1 being used, and no sense of urgency. My prescription was filled 10 min before closing. My prescription is 1 tablet for 5 days, I return home and only 1 tablet was given to me. I tried calling the Cvs to see if I could come back so they could rectify their mistake but they've already closed. Now I can't start my regiment for my allergic reaction until tomorrow after bringing in the 1 tablet they've given me to show as proof... read more

This is my first visit to this CVS. I really liked their huge selection much better than the CVS' in the area. I really like the option to use their minute clinic, which I didn't have to use, but it looks very neat very orderly and great hours. The store itself is very well organized. The only thing I didn't like were some of the shopping carts were empty, and in the isles, huge selection of sleep aids as well, and the layout of the store is very efficient. read more

The pharmacy and store desperately need more staff - these problems have been ongoing for years. I have to use CVS pharmacies with my health insurance plan, and this one is closest to my house. I've gotten texts that my prescription was ready only to arrive and they don't have it and it won't be ready for hours, or there was a problem with my insurance I never would have known about unless I went in. The lines are eternally long, and you will be on hold forever if you try to call in. Today my doctor has tried to call in an antibiotic which I need urgently twice, was sent to voicemail both times, and when I called the pharmacy to check (after being on hold for 40 minutes), they said they didn't have it. I told them to check their voicemail and they told me to call my doctor again. What?! read more

I have had such struggles with the CVS pharmacy at McLearan square! My mother is elderly and requires a large number of medications. Refills are slow, communication with the doctor when necessary is spotty at best. It took me THREE MONTHS to get complete diabetes testing supplies and insulin when she was diagnosed. When most supplies were finally filled. No one thought to mention separate, disposable needles were required for the pen to work. Surely a pharmacy across the street from a large senior facility has dealt with diabetes before!!! When doctor's approval is required to fill a medication, they will not reliably contact the practitioner. The communication break down happens with all her doctors, so the from that end. Working with Medicare can be extremely challenging. When an issue comes up, they don't contact Medicare, they don't inform me that there's a problem, and prescriptions are lost in limbo for weeks. When I contact the pharmacy by phone, they are not particularly helpful. Text reminders are not helpful. Drug names are not provided, just the first letter of the medication's generic name. My mother takes many meds with the same first letter. I cannot change preferences to get better information sent. The phone app requires so many "press this" options that it takes 10 minutes to get automated information, and reaching a live person at the pharmacy is very difficult. They repeatedly text refill reminders for meds I have removed from her profile. The website and app are not intuitive and changes made there are not reflected the next time I log in. I will say that the actual PHARMACISTS are very helpful, but only in person. I do not live with my mother, and driving to her pharmacy, sometimes several times a week, is the most inconvenient experience I've ever had with any pharmacy. In contrast, the wegmans pharmacy in Dulles, the pharmacy we use for our own needs, is wonderful, going out of their way to provide the best service possible. If they were closer to my mother's apartment, I would never enter a CVS again. read more

Terrible pharmacy. Would not recommend to any one. Came in to pick up a prescription that had been called in through workers comp. The main pharmacist was not able to pull up any of my information and instead of doing what was required of him he kept insisting I come back another day, even though I needed the medication urgently. I gave him a phone number I was told he needed to call in order to get the information he needed and he insisted that that was not the right way to do it and that I needed to call, and so I did and of course they reiterated that HE needed to call. All in all I left with no medication, and no help. Absolute terrible customer service. The way the staff speaks to their clients is very unprofessional. Will not be going to this pharmacy ever again. Worst CVS I've ever been to - I actively avoid picking up prescriptions from this pharmacy even though it's my closest because the customer service is so poor, they are so understaffed, and so frequently have problems with their prescriptions. Every time I go here there's either something wrong with the prescription they are supposed to fill for me or for others in front of me. Expect to wait in line for at least half an hour in the evening. Once the pharmacist yelled at customers in front of their children for not waiting in the right place for being vaccinated even though instructions are not straight forward and there was no place for them to sit. The staff is also unprofessional and impolite, though it's hard to blame them because they are so understaffed. Save yourself time and frustration - go to a different cvs. read more

No problem finding what I needed very quickly, but one cashier and register opened, with a long time waiting to checkout. It wasn't as if another cashier was called until the line really shortened up. Management should do a better job to watch the number of people in line and dispatch another cashier to shorten the time in line for customers. Recent experience with CVS on Eldon Street, Herndon, VA. Hospital sent in two prescriptions to be filled at CVS. Much needed medications, I might add. I tried for two consecutive days to get thru to this pharmacy, I cannot drive so had to rely upon their mail order system. This CVS pharmacy filled the prescription but the online account showed it was being held up and would not be mailed out until mid July. I called my health insurance plan and their response was since this CVS filled the prescription, I had to work with CVS. It was odd that a prescription would be "filled" and then not ready for pickup a month later. Something screwy there. I could not wait that long, the ER urged me to start two medications immediately. I held for hours, both days and no one would pick up the phone to answer my questions. I called the customer service manager at this location and his response was that due to COVID, they are down to only one pharmacist and one cashier. WOW !! Poor excuse. The CVS on Centreville Road immediately picked up the phone, transferred prescription from Eldon Street, processed it and sent it to me in the mail, all in one day. read more

I just started using this pharmacy for 3 prescriptions. All 3 refills have been problematic, confusing, frustrating. I used the CVS app for the automated refill feature but it resulted with delays and extra shipping that I had to pay because of inaccurate records. I have had to wait for 45min on the phone to clarify - not updating their records with my doctor's authorization is careless. It also appears the staff at this CVS are not familiar with the CVS app. Training them on the system might resolve some of the issues. Then, have them use it as a customer. read more

Half the time I go to this CVS, there is a problem! Overcharged, wrong quantities, they don't have my renewed prescriptions in the system that I handed them the week before, long wait in line and long wait on the phone. My prescriptions are specifically written out for 90 days and therefore at a better price than three 30 days. This time they only gave me 30 days at a higher rate than if I was supposed to get for 90 days. They are absolutely terrible! read more

I came in 3-4 minutes after the pharmacy team closed the gate for my emergency asthma medicatio and they denied me service. To add insult to injury, there was a Hispanic woman standing right behind the counter who could have helped, but walked away from me out the door while I still had questions. I typically loathe going to CVS, but my company insurance and prescription policy only allows me to acquire prescriptions from CVS, so I have no choice but to frequent this CVS as it's the most convenient to home and work for me. I find myself picking up various sundry items when filling prescriptions, and my overall takeaways each time I stop in are: - restrooms are disgusting - avoid at all costs - pharmacy techs are overworked and probably underpaid, but being nice to them and patient means they're more likely to ring up your other items without rolling their eyes - front end is understaffed; there is often a long line of people waiting to check out and only 1 cashier - store is large and has wider aisles than many other CVS copies in the area, but items are messily displayed and it's hard to find (sometimes) what you need, but of course you end up buying a bunch of other crap It's a drugstore. They fill prescriptions. They print you coupons for days if you're part of the CVS Rewards program. Parking is free and plentiful. The pharmacy is open 7 days a week with late-night hours, which is a plus. read more

I needed the giant index cards, and it was late so I found myself here after 2 or 3 strike outs at other local pharmacies. First off the place was dirty. They did have my index cards, so I grabbed them and went to the front noting the utter disarray of the entire store all the while. I was happy to see that there was no one in line, walked up and placed my cards on the counter, and watched the guy behind said counter...continue...to...text. He finally set his phone down and picked up the index cards. Yay, we've made progress, but alas, his phone buzzed and my cards; only inches from the scanner are put down so he can reply to what I can only assume was a dire emergency and his lackadaisical demeanor was a sheer testament to his commitment professionalism even under duress. I mean either that or he was a really, really, really bad employee who couldn't give two poops or a toot about his job. I tend to lean towards the latter, because my index cards and his phone remained locked in a vicious battle for his attention, and my cards were losing. After he had picked his phone up for the second time I asked "how much is it?" As though perhaps I had somehow not heard him announce my total. His texting slows as one hand breaks free long enough for him to hold 1 finger up giving me the visual alert to "wait a minute" Finally, as though my ears had been graced by the songs of the angels; he spoke: I haven't rung it yet. Hold on. I'm a patient person, I have a twisted sense of humor, and at this point I'm amused. So alrighty, I'll hold on, you finish that text. Fairly large store, saw plenty of essentials on my way in and out. Have had several efficient phone refills since then, and was encouraged to join the ReadyRefill program which seems handy. read more

One of my least fave CVS stores. ALL Counters chronically understaffed. Plus side: they opened a minute clinic with VERY nice staff. But if you then need an RX be prepared to wait.
