This drugstore is getting a lot of negative press these days. I don't use them as my pharmacy, but I do stop in here every so often for something that I need. Whenever I come in, the staff are super pleasant, super helpful and eager to please. I find the store to be well organized and usually everything is put away and looks good. It does seem that they are slightly short staffed at times because there are times when there are boxes in the aisles and haven't yet been put away. They also seemed to have given up the parking lot, and now allow the parking lot to be used by many people. It's very generous of them and they don't have to do that. It also does make it slightly more difficult when you're actually shopping there to get a parking spot. That's an unfortunate side effect of the neighbors not being respectful of who the parking is being provided for. read more

I've been in this Walgreens many many many many many times and I was sure I wrote a review for it, but according to this I didn't. I like coming to this Walgreens for the candy selection for holidays. They always have such a huge variety of bags of candy as well as single chocolates and things that you can pick out for stocking stuffers for Christmas and for Easter baskets on Easter. That's about the only reason why I come to this Walgreens that was for Candy. The employees are pretty nice ,a couple not so nice, but that's the way it is with every place pretty much. Their prices seem to have gone up since the last time I was here. Today though I had brought my mother in to do some shopping for Christmas in which she just happened to be buying all boxes of candy today so obviously it's good for candy for her too. I didn't look around it much else so I can't give a fresh opinion on anything else right now. read more

How on earth do you just change the hours of your business so randomly without actually notifying any of your customers of the sudden change... You haven't even updated Yelp as a matter of fact... Because I know I didn't walk 10 blocks here at 10:30 at night just to randomly find out that you guys are now closed at 10 o'clock? After being open until midnight for over a decade. I grew up walking distance from this Walgreens and so it feels very much like home to me. A strange thing to say about a Walgreens? Maybe so. But it's comfortable. I know what I'm gonna get when I walk in. I know who I'm gonna see. That super friendly dude at the cash register will welcome me as I walk in "welcome to Walgreens!" I think his name is Chris. He is great. Dare I say, an icon. I give it 5 stars as compared to other Walgreens. Every other Walgreens I visit I end up waiting for things. Waiting for someone to help me at the photo desk (Delaware Ave in Kenmore is a nightmare for that). Waiting for someone to cash me out. Waiting for the infant tylenol to be restocked. But I don't find that as often here. Maybe it's the rose colored glasses I wear, Idk. In my experience, their photo/print shop is good and fast. I've not used their pharmacy so can't speak to that. I'm most often there for greeting cards or over the counter drugs, and it fulfills those purposes. I always leave with a smile after chatting with Chris (I really hope his name is Chris). It is a Walgreens, which means all of the usual Walgreens things. There is a pharmacy. It is open pretty late. There are all sorts of corporate snacks and generally overpriced OTC medicines. There is ice and soda and beer (points to Walgreens for catching on to this whole "craft brew" thing in the last few years and actually including a decent beer selection). For reasons generally unknown, Walgreens also carries the deepest, most extensive selection in the developed world of odor-eaters and gel inserts for shoes. Do the owners have a foot fetish? This Walgreens has a nice staff that is clearly being stretched too thin over the Pandemic: there's hardly ever a cashier at the front while you're in there, and somehow it takes ten minutes to check out of what is essentially an overgrown convenience store. I've also long argued that having a small produce section in these drug chains would do a world of good. In any case, if your demands are modest and you are looking for familiar national products, this store will meet your needs just fine. The employees try hard and are always nice. It offers a better range of goods than the corner convenience stores in much of urban Buffalo, most of which can't be bothered to stock exotic goods like club soda. This Walgreens is A-OK. read more

The workers are not very nice, ask them a question they do t want to help and are very rude.

Love the people that work here, and that's where it ends. The doors are always broken, all the essential products are locked and when they get them for you they bring them up to the front because they assume you're a thief, and their anti-women stance on providing medication is archaic, malicious, and unforgivable. We've stopped supporting Walgreens because they have grown into a reprehensible company that has an antagonistic relationship with the communities they blight with their presence. read more

I wanted to compliment the staff at the Hertel Avenue Buffalo store on administration of COVID vaccine, but there is no interface for this. In any case, my 3rd COVID vaccine today was quick, absolutely painless, and (like with the first pair of Pfizer vaccinations 6 months ago) there are no side-effects at all. Note: REVIEW FOR PHARMACY ONLY I went to this location to get my ZOSTAVAX (shingles vaccine). My insurance will only cover administration at a pharmacy. called ahead-no appointment needed. When I arrived, i was advised that no, my Insurance didn't cover it (yes, they do). After 30 minutes of waiting, the truth finally came out: THE PHARMACY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO BILL IT. THEY TURNED A CUSTOMER AWAY (me) And actually told me to call Member Services and get the code for them. Not my pay grade. Not doing their work for them. read more

I love this Walgreens!!! I have several prescriptions every month, and the app for my iPhone really helps keep them organized. When I transferred my medications to this Walgreens from a different pharmacy (moved), I spoke with Scott, the pharmacy director. He was helpful and pleasant. The next time he saw me, he remembered my name. That's impressive. The entire staff of the pharmacy are always pleasant, helpful, always with a smile. I've gotten to the point where I tease and joke around with some of them. And let me just say - Drive Thru!!!! The folks who work in the rest of the store are also generally friendly. I've gotta call out Chris, who is often at the front register, who never, I mean never, fails to greet customers as they enter the store. Unfortunately, I have moved out of the neighborhood, and have had to change pharmacies. But I can unconditionally recommend the Walgreens on Hertel. read more

This is my go-to place for a lot of items, since Dash's kind of lacks on the toiletries department and closes early. Every time I go there, someone asks me if they can help me before even showing signs of needing assistance. There are a few people who are always working when I am there (lady who works the register - has short dark hair- we talk about her grandkids, etc. Really great person!). SO I look forward to going there. Great little neighborhood drugstore- you really forget it's a huge chain. read more

Typical local Walgreens. They are clean inside with decent parking for the location. The staff has been nice. Although, I must be a grump in thinking the shouting of "hello, welcome to Walgreens" is super annoying to listen to when they are busy. Make fun all you want! To conclude though the pharmacy is great and staffed well. They move the line along well on busy days. I'll keep returning as it's my local store and beats the nearby CVS! read more

this review mostly focuses on the pharmacy portion of the store, not the general store area, which i find to be fine. once i was misgendered at the check out and the cashier promptly corrected himself, which i really appreciated. all the cashiers are nice and helpful. the wait time usually is not bad at the front. however, the pharmacy is horrible. the main pharmacist is professional and kind. he treats me with dignity and respect even though many of my medications are sensitive and would be easy to judge. however, the techs are rude, offensive, and one even lost a prescription discount card valued over 600 dollars and did not apologize, just ignoring the situation. weeks later the card "randomly" turned up after i already had to use an online pharmacy. the other pharmacists are also nice, with both being willing to work with insurance and doctors, but i prefer the pharmacist in charge mostly likely because i see him the most. the techs ruin it for me though. the are completely awful and borderline homophobic every time. ive been there and been the only person in line and still had to wait while they text or talk to each other, something i find unacceptable. the reason i say it's homophobic is because ive never witnessed this behavior for cute old ladies or straight couples but for gender non conforming people it seems to be the norm. if it was once or twice i would assume they were having a bad day but it's been at least four. ive thought about moving my meds to target more times than i can count (where i used to go) but im on so much from several doctors that it would be too inconvenient that each time i go i just pray it's not going to be a degrading mess. i would say if you are lgbt (emphasis on the T) definitely avoid the pharmacy portion of the store, but the regular part will suit you just fine. i do not think they have public bathrooms, but I have not asked or checked. read more
