She hung up on me before I could even explain as to why I have to inquire about. Long story short, if you have Highmark BCBS, you're probably better off not using Parker Pharmacy for your prescriptions. Background story: I was excited to support this independent pharmacy after moving to the neighborhood, so I asked my doctor to move a recurring prescription of mine here. Unfortunately, my insurance (Highmark BCBS) only would only reimburse Parker Pharmacy a measly amount that wouldn't even cover the cost of the pill bottle, so the pharmacy declined to fill the prescription unless I paid for it out of pocket. I don't blame the pharmacy for not filling my prescription. Our health care/health insurance systems are pretty messed up. I ended up moving my prescription to the Walgreens down the street, though, where it was filled without any issues. I hate choosing big-box over a small business, but in this case I didn't have much of a choice. Because I don't want to have to worry about whether or not Parker will accept my insurance's terms for every prescription my family ever has, I won't be using them for prescriptions as long as we have Highmark. read more

I'm so glad that I visited this store. I had a $250 health flex card from independent health that I've been struggling to use up every year. Pros + Service. The minute you walk in the door, you're greeted with courteous help. She was a dear to me and made for such an amazing experience. + Quality Products + Customer parking Initially I was a little off put by the review someone previously made about the store owner being political within her own store. However, having visited the place myself, I realize that it does NOT endorse her political views. They're merely gag gifts about the current president in office (previously, a Democrat. Currently, a republican). I've gone to at least two other stores to try to use my IH card. They've either sold expired or vegetarian only products. It was getting to be discouraging. I was shopping around Hertel today when I saw the sign outside of here that advertised their CBD oils for migraine use. I get migraines far more frequently than I'd like to and figured it couldn't hurt to go in and talk to someone about it. The woman behind the counter is a migraine sufferer as well and said that she actually uses the CBD salve for hers. She said she rubs it on her temples during a migraine and feels serious relief. She said it can also be used for pulled muscles, joint pain, etc and she has noticed it helps there as well. It's significantly less expensive than the oil so I gave it a shot, at $29.99 for the tub. I'm so grateful that someone was here to talk to about this and that she actually uses the product for what I want to use it for. It was a great experience and I'm sure I'll return! read more

(I use them to scent my dresser drawers until I use them.) Barb will really work with (MAKES CALLS!!) your doctor and insurance company when inevitable complications arise. An adorable little drugstore. Very clean & organized inside and the pharmacist who was there was very friendly. They specialize in carrying a huge variety of all natural makeup and body care items. Next time I go I plan on getting some! They also sell local chocolates, like Platters. We got a big bag of sponge candy while we were there. And they sell some amazing homemade-type soaps which we got too. Lovely little place. read more

The Pharmacist personally chooses her product and she had President Obama's picture on toilet paper. This is offensive and reflects her political views. This pharmacy is awesome, and is in my Top 10 favorite things about living in North Buffalo. I think it's telling that so many people mention the pharmacist/owner, Barb, in their review. More than just a pharmacist, she is a part and facilitator of the community. She knows me by name, along with my boyfriend, and our various and sundry health issues. When we've had issues with our doctors not sending in our refills in a timely fashion, someone at Parker will personally call them and get it sorted out. We also get reminder calls when our Rx is ready, usually before we've realized we were about to run out. While the selection of *stuff* isn't as varied as chain pharmacies, I've always been able to get everything I need. read more

I originally went to Parker Pharmacy because it was just around the corner from my house. It proved to be an excellent decision. The service is excellent, friendly and efficient and Barbara goes out of her way to make sure that I always have my prescriptions when I need them. If the store doesn't have something I want, she gladly orders it. The pharmacy carries several products for various uses that I like that are safe for the environment as well as excellent beauty products that don't test on animals. I haven't had any prescriptions filled here yet, but I have stopped by twice for products. Barb, the owner, is knowledgeable about every item on their shelves. They have a lot of awesome products, include shampoo bars. I wondered aloud if there was such thing as conditioner bars and she immediately got out the catalogue she had ordered the shampoo out of to check. Larry Rosen and Barb Madison are the pharmacists who run a good ol' fashioned pharmacy on Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo. Just walking in the door makes me feel great! They are a full-service pharmacy, with a great selection of vitamins, herbs, and other "cutting-edge" supplements. Even wonderful chocolates--and a lot of locally produced articles. They carry great lines of natural cosmetics, soaps, cleaning supplies and even 1/2 price cards. Not to mention great service: Almost every time I call to refill a script, I'll hear Barb's voice say: It's already done-- Come on over! And they'll order just about anything I've seen or heard on NPR or other source, even Dr. Oz :-) Larry and Barb will also steer my away from things they feel would not be beneficial to me, often foregoing a sale. When was the last time that's happened to you in a Rite Aid or Walgreen's? No matter what kind of day I'm having--or mood I'm in--I walk out feeling happier. The warmth of the proprietors and the care they give me is on equal par to their medications and other products! The store itself is an architectural treasure: lofty ceilings rimmed with painted tin, beautiful old wide wooden floors, and a lot of indoor "real estate." You might be tempted to play baseball inside. I love this ol' fashioned drug store, and am especially happy to see their business picking up briskly.
