I was in Boston for a few days in early October and needed a few things for my stay. A convenient location with a good selection of chilled items and snacks. This location has two floors and it might be one of the nicer Walgreens I've visited. Anyway, quick and easy checkout and I was on my merry way.

Clean and modern store! Prices are higher than CVS, I think, but it's a nicer shopping experience here. This location is conveniently right by DTX and has an outdoor seating area for a summer break or quick bite. Inside, this location boasts high ceilings and bright lights and clean tile floors. They have a clean restroom in the basement too, for customers only of course. The pharmacy is large with a huge variety of products/brands. The market is nice, too, with everything fully stocked. Upstairs is the "up market" with wine and beer. Score!! Fresh I has a salad bar/market located within this Walgreens so if you need a quick bite for lunch (among the hundreds of options in DTX), they do offer somewhat fresh food so your only option is not a bag of chips, prepackaged overpriced celery or wine :)

This was an impressive Walgreens. I've never seen one that has dedicated so much of their space to food. Fresh sushi, lots of ready-to-heat and ready-to-eat meals, a huge selection of drinks and of course candies and snacks. Sure, they also have a pharmacy and the usual personal care stuff (I needed a new toothpaste today) as well. Very friendly service. Great shop.

This place has gotten a lot of press lately and people seem to be happy it's here. I had a mixed reaction when I visited the other day. For starters, I still miss the Borders bookstore that used to be in this spot. I know I need to get over it, but there isn't a big bookstore in all of Downtown Crossing now. But back to this Mega-Walgreens which is not just a drug-store by any stretch. It is a drug-store on steroids and possibly LSD. Sure, you can get all your typical pharmacy needs met here but on top of that you can get pre-packaged foods, fresh sushi, fro-yo, freshly made smoothies and juices, salads, souvenirs, a manicure (!), alchohol, and some groceries. Yikes! If this doesn't describe a mélange, I don't know what does. There isn't a supermarket anywhere near this area so for people who live around here this might just seem a little bit like a God-send. And just maybe it will help encourage more residential development on the blight that has become parts of this area of town since the demise of Filene's and the iconic Filene's Basement. I think the biggest benefit for some, might be that there is so much under one roof. In some ways it can be one-stop shopping. And it's open 24 hours. But it all seems a bit too much and there are lots of things I just wouldn't buy here from the looks of things. The fro-yo station was a disaster. The day I visited the machines were drippy and leaky and the toppings area was a complete mess. Someone needs to be on standby to keep that area pristine and the machines in order. Although the sushi looked good, I can't wrap my head around buying sushi in a Walgreen's. Sorry. If I were here for a typical Walgreen's pharmacy item and was short on time, maybe then I would consider getting a salad or fruit or a smoothie here but this would not be a food buying destination for me on its own. The one thing I liked was the very large make-up section on the second floor. I do love my makeup. It was more akin to what you would find in a department store rather than a typical drugstore. Overall, I think this place will do a booming business. It was certainly packed when I was in there. But for me, I would prefer if it was still a bookstore.

    Messy!

This is the craziest Walgreen's I've ever been in! It's pretty cool...great selection, interesting space - not like the crappy Walgreen's where I live. My only knock is that is could be a bit cleaner. The frozen yogurt station was disgusting during my visit...the only thing missing were rats and cockroaches crawling around the counter. Overall, pretty darn good. 4 stars

Yes, I give this Walgreens credit for its location. Enclosed within a glass and concrete facade right in front of the Irish Famine memorial, it's certainly pleasant to walk into this store. Once you get inside, it's pretty standard Walgreen's stuff - snacks and drinks near the front of the store, toiletries elsewhere. Thankfully, checkout is one unified line, so you don't have to gamble on which lines moves more quickly. I didn't see any self-checkout machines, for what it's worth.

DTXers rejoice! The empty space that Borders left in the heart of The Crossing has been filled -- and not just with any drug store, but the fanciest damn Walgreens you'll ever see. The place has a sushi station, a juice bar, an entire floor of wine, beer and liquor, a self-serve fro-yo aisle with advanced flavors like red velvet, DIY toppings, an electronic screen that lets you mix Coca Cola products to create 120 different flavors (raspberry Coke!!), and [gasp for breath] a virtual bartender machine that will suggest drink recipes and help you plan your next party. DTX was begging for a 24-hour joint, and this place is the absolute jackpot. Word to the wise, though -- liquor/wine/beer floor closes at 10 pm. Happy shopping!

We were shocked to see that they have a sushi bar here. We tried their salmon avocado sushi roll and it turned out to be pretty good! Bonus for being housed inside the former Boston Five Cents Savings Bank with thick limestone walls and large windows for natural lighting. You gotta check it out!

April 2023: 3: Overall, I would be hesitant to recommend this location…read more I located the store by accident while out walking around to check out the area while visiting the hospital nearby the store. There is street parking available at the meters. The frontage is under renovation and covered from the front view. The store appeared clean and orderly upon entry. There is an ATM near the doorway and a uniformed peace officer working at the entrance. The store seemed of decent size for a city type location. There were a variety of national products available for purchase. There were several workers I noticed in the store. It seems that there was an issue with management and work assignments. At the time of my visit, a store worker was having issues with the management. He voiced his displeasure at being put on hold before collecting his requested items. He started yelling in the store with customers watching because he was being ignored by management instead of being helped and moved on his way out of the store. This show lasted for over 20 minutes as I waited for my service to be completed. I wanted a few items that were in the store but noted that all of the desired items were damaged. I asked if the store would discount them if I purchased them anyway. No discount, was the answer from management. Hmmm, then why is the store selling damaged goods in the first place? I was on foot walking and I needed the items. I had to settle for the full price of the damaged items. I noted that there was a FedEx desk up for use at the store cashier areas. I also noted an ATM machine as well. Photo Center: 4: I was impressed with the quality of the photos I was able to get at this location. I was not impressed with the fact that when ordering online to pickup the same day in the store, no pictures were ready because the worker didn't check to see if something had come in for same day service. I arrived a few hours later to the store and still had to wait in the check out line only to be told the photos aren't ready yet because we didn't print them. The worker I was being helped by the first time, was competent and capable in completing the job. The following two days, I found that the male workers were not as capable. The process was explained to me and I was able to order the needed products while waiting in store on the first occasion.

The thing about Campus Convenience is it is typically...convenient. I work two jobs at Boston…read moreMedical Center and go to Boston University School of Public Health, so I spend the majority of my life within 100 feet of this place. Sometimes I find myself showing up here two or three times a day. First, there is the morning coffee fix. Campus Convenience shines here. New England blend Raspberry Chocolate coffee is the best! I sometimes get their blueberry coffee or dark roast. I appreciate the variety of hot beverages- lots of types of coffee, tea, and expressoy cappuchinoy scary drinks. I am not sure if any of you have spent any amount of time at a Dunkin Donuts located in a public hospital emergency room, but it is not a pretty sight. Think screaming babies, nose bleeds, and nurses purchasing 32 cups of coffee at a time. I am glad Campus Convenience allows me to avoid this mess, and my blood pressure is as well. Next, I might go here for an afternoon lunch or snack. I have never tried their made to go sandwiches or pizza but am always very happy at the salad bar. They also have pre made sandwiches and sushi which typically freak me out, but they aren't so bad here. For snacks, CC has a good variety of natural snacks (Think a whole wall of granola bars and nuts), yogurt, fruit, and hummus/veggie platters and so I can feed my body well. On several occasions I have bought carrots and celery only to find a fuzzy white substance ala Steven King's the mist covering them-so thumbs down to that. Please pay attention to sell by labels. If I need ANYTHING in an emergency (band aids, lint rollers, deodorant, ping pong balls) it is available behind the counter at Campus Convenience. Little known fact. The major downfall of CC is their hours. BU med campus night classes usually run 6-9, with a 7:30 break. By now I need a sugar fix and think the CC counter will be the perfect place to get that but CC closes at 7. It would be really wise to stay open that extra half an hour- I am sure there are a lot of hungry students out there. Also, completely random, I think they need to sell magazines. There is no good place to buy magazines in this area and that is silly. It is a hospital; people are bored!

It's got all the basic stuff you need in a convenience store like coffee, soda and candy bars but this one is a lot smaller than the major one over on Comm Ave. Not much to say about it. However, if you're looking for a quick bite, I'd recommend the Hidden Kitchen a little further down the street.
