We had the best time getting to surf and snorkel with Ryan! He was such a great "host" and provided a fun, accommodating and chill experience for us and our four kids (ages 16, 12, 9, 6). All of us got to do something we wanted and enjoyed our time on his beautiful MB boat. He knew the best spot to snorkel and had all the gear for us to use. We surfed, tubed, looked for whales, snorkeled and had a great time cruising on the ocean. read more

Wake Maui - Beautiful MB surf boat in Lahaina - Boating Near Me

hands-down the best activity we had on maui! The boat was stunning, luxurious and super comfortable, We could've stayed on board all day! From start to finish, non-stop giggles and laughter. We tried wake surfing and tubing, and it was a blast for everyone--my husband, our kids, and me! Captain Ryan was fantastic--super knowledgeable, patient, and made us feel right at home. His expertise and warm vibe took the experience to another level. If you're looking for an unforgettable day on the water, this is it. We're already counting down to our next trip! read more

We had a great time with a Captain Ryan with our 7 and 3 year old! Booking was easy. Finding Captain Ryan next beach side of Whalers Village next to UFO Parasailing was easy. You know what isn't so easy? Wakeboarding!! That didn't matter for Captain Ryan, he was patient with us and taught us how to wake board. My husband and I were able to pick it up quickly and it was so much fun! Be prepared to feel sore for a week . My kids loved belly boarding and tubing. We had a special treat while tubing and had a huge pod of dolphins - probably 25 - all around us! The snorkeling spot had many turtles and wasn't bombarded with tourists. That is the beauty of sailing with Wake Maui, it's a personalized experience, catered to your wants and it's just your group! No crowded snorkeling spots, just pure Maui! Mahalo Ryan! read more

We weren't sure what to expect on this adventure, but it by far surpassed our expectations! We started off about to wake surf, when a huge pod of dolphins paid us a visit! That was a sweet surprise. Then we wake surfed and although we had some experience, Capitan Ryan's tips were so helpful! Be sure to check out the snorkeling, it isn't your typical snorkeling spot - we saw many turtles! We wrapped up with some whale watching. Wish I could do this every day! :) read more

Wake Maui - Boating Near Me

Wakesurfing with Captain Ryan was the absolute highlight of our vacation to Maui. Ryan was a great coach who got most of our group standing on the first or second attempt and assured that we spent almost all our time having a great time and very little time learning to get up and stay up (compared to something like snowboarding). His boat is super high-quality and well maintained and he was very enjoyable to talk to. read more

Top notch in all areas. Captain Brian was fantastic, great communication prior to trip, excellent guest services while on boat, and Boat was so spacious, clean and maintained like it was brand new. We could not of asked for anything better!!!! read more

Worth the money and will definitely do it again when we return! We had a spectacular day!! We enjoyed four hours of wakesurfing, whale watching and snorkeling. Captain Ryan was fantastic, outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable. He made the day so enjoyable. The whales were beautiful and the experience so memorable. All four of us were able to get up and wakesurf. Finally we were able to swim along with the turtles while snorkeling. He explained the guidelines to us, to ensure we knew and followed them before entering the water. Four hours was a great amount of time, but obviously left us wanting more. read more

Had an absolute blast! Ryan is a great captain and instructor, we had both experienced surfers and first timers and Ryan got everyone up and surfing! Highly recommend, we'll definitely be back out on the water with Wake Maui. read more

Booking a half day trip with Wake Maui was the highlight of our trip!!! Captain Ryan and his team are amazing! Even before our trip, Captain Ryan called us to tell us about weather conditions and ask if we wanted to reschedule. We could not, and the water was a bit rough for us to wake board the whole time, but we still had a blast!!! We got lucky and saw several humpback whales right at the beginning of our trip. Captain gave us a little history and science background and allowed us to enjoy their beauty for as long as we wanted to. Then we snorkeled and he told us where the best spots were. And he gave us a little history lesson on the places, boats, and things we were seeing. He was amazing and made our trip an excellent one!!! Easy to book, great communication, on time, and very profesional, not to mention the boat was gorgeous and it made waves!!!! We will definitely be booking with him again next time we come!! read more

Another great day out on the water with Captain Ryan. The two grandsons both got up and wake surfed. Nice wake behind the MB easy and relaxed surfing. Then got to see the whales when they came around the boat, followed by a snorkel swim to see the turtle cleaning station with loads of turtles and fish. Already looking forward to the next trip to Maui to experience another fun day. read more

Awesome experience for the family. We could not get the kids out of the water :) really something special to hear their whooping and hollering behind the boat, and then the excitement swimming with the turtles. Boat is super cool too. Will repeat on our next trip for sure. Very highly recommend. read more

Totally worth every penny! We visited Maui without having any plans because our schedule kept changing. When we got to the island, I started looking into private guided snorkeling tours since we are celebrating my boyfriend's bday. I can't swim but I wanted him to have a great time so I ran into Captain Woody's site. I called and he was fully booked but he recommended Captain Ryan. I got all the info and booked through Wakemaui site and texted Captain Ryan as well. He is very responsive! And was able to accommodate us the next day! Finding him on the day of was easy. He took us to Mala Wharf 1st. I was really scared because I've never snorkeled without holding on to a rope or something since I can't swim but Captain Ryan made me feel so safe! I was able to snorkel around and see some turtles and lots of fishes! He then took us off the coast of the Westin and got to see some natural coral reefs. After that, he took us to a spot where we saw school of dolphins! It was amazing!! I can't thank Captain Ryan enough in making this the best trip of my life! I can't wait to go back and book with him again! I totally recommend. Don't think twice, don't hesitate. Totally worth it!!! Thank you again Captain Ryan, read more

4 years ago, we had a great time wake surfing with Captain Ryan, and we knew we had to do it again. Captain Ryan is so encouraging and helpful in learning how to wake surf. There's also tubing, which was hilarious and so fun. He also took us snorkeling at an amazing spot with dozens of turtles while he blew up the raft, so no time was wasted. By far the best excursion we have done. read more

Well I just had the best day ever! A private boat (super sexy boat actually:)) and was able to combine several activities for a half day adventure. After the trip my friends were ready to book a second day. Tons of fun! Captain was great and had such good energy and knowledge. Made us all feel very comfortable. Thank you Ryan. We will be back. read more

Very unreliable for booking. We called on a Tuesday and booked for "Saturday" with no date mentioned, and it turns out we were booked for a Saturday three and a half weeks after booking. We called on the Saturday we thought we had booked and asked where our boat was, and the first person who picked up said the boat was probably running late. We waited 20 minutes and called again and someone else picked up and told us they were closed. Do not book here if you would like reliable service. If you manage to get on a boat, I'm sure you'll have a great time, but expect a long and difficult process beforehand. read more

Hands down funnest most quality water activity offered in Maui. Capt. Ryan not only allowed for us and many other visitors to the island to get the most unique perspective of the islands (from the water) but he also was super fun and knowledgeable. No issues whatsoever. Sweet new wakeboard boat, good sized wake, all top of the line gear. Super professional. Will be booking every time we visit Maui!! read more

If you are planning a trip to Maui, you have to book a trip with WakeMaui. I had the best day I could have ever imagined. Ryan has amazing energy and makes the boat so incredibly fun. On top of that, he is a great instructor and will get you up wake surfing in no time. I would say that this is one of the most exciting fun experiences that Maui has to offer. This trip is awesome and a must-do if you are visiting Maui! read more

Best boat ride ever!! Flew over to Lanai for epic snorkeling then back to Kaanapali for more snorkeling with numerous turtles. A pod of dolphins hitched a ride on our wake for a couple of miles too. Capped off the day with wake surfing. Will charter this boat every year. read more

We had a great time with Capt. Ryan Hickey. He was recommended by another Captain as a great captain with a great boat who provides a great time and a safe experience. He did not disappoint. We all (5 of us) had a great time. We did wake boarding, wake surfing (neither of which any of us had ever done before) and snorkeling. Capt. Ryan was completely flexible in terms of whatever sports we wanted to do. Capt. Ryan was very patient with our younger kids and got them up wakeboard and wakesurfing in no time. Everyone who tried it did it successfully. My 16 year old son commented that this was probably his most fun experience of the entire trip. We then went snorkeling near an old collapsed pier which was great. We saw several turtles, sandsharks and lots of fish. On the way back Ryan took a short detour so we could see a giant pod of porpoises. Overall we had a great time. Ryan was a great host, very friendly, knows the area, and the water sports. His boat was very clean and comfortable with plenty of amenities. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend Wake Maui and Capt Ryan for a fun experience on the water. read more

So, i've never been wake boarding before but figured it would be fun to try! Going with my usual breakdown (+3 start) (+1) Captain Ryan is really encouraging, knowledgeable and all around nice! Definitely helps to have such a chill "guide" on board! (+1) The boat is impeccable, great even if you're not out on the wake. Having only 6 people on the boat helps too. (+1) Different options available! Wake surfing, boarding, and even tubing! (+1) Water and soft drinks complimentary on board (+/-) You will be SOOOOOOOO sore the next day. (+/-) Not the cheapest activity on the island, but so worth it! Do this instead of zip-lining anyday. ( -1) The laces from the wake board came loose a couple times in the water, not sure if it's a "user error" or just the equipment Overall: it's 6 stars! Yes my body absolutely hated me the next day, but haven't had this much fun in a while! Definitely recommend it. read more

Awesome and would love to do this again - a highlight of the trip - great instructor and a lot of fun too.

Ryan Hickey was an amazing captain as well as teacher for those who have never wake surfed before. He has multiple options for boards and activities such as tubing. Super fun outing for the whole family! Would 100% do it again!! read more

This was my second time in Maui and the first time I came, I did all the excursions. This time we winged it and decided to go out with Wake Maui. Captain Ryan was awesome and easily balanced all of the personalities on the boat. We chose two options from the website for activities, but Captain Ryan even took us to a sweet snorkeling spot ensuring we had a great time. It was a much better experience this trip. Thanks Captain Ryan for your patience and professionalism. read more

We had a fantastic time. Tons of fun. Beautiful clear water, great (and patient) instructor. We will return for sure

Amazing 4 hr tour with captain Ryan! He is very personable and knows the waters/area very well. 4 of the 6 of us wakeboarded and wakesurfed (if you haven't tried it, it's much easier to pick up and easy on the knees!) on a pretty calm morning session. Ryan then took us out to a snorkeling place off olowalu and we were able to get in 12-15' of clear water and see multiple colorful fish and sea turtles. He keeps his boat in good condition and offers soda, water and ice for storing whatever food and beg you decide to bring. Overall a great time and would highly recommend to any small group. Thank you Ryan! read more

My July 23, 2012 we had the honor of experiencing Wake Maui. This was our first vacation in 7 years. This was the one of the greatest highlights of our vacation. Captain Ryan was extremely professional, knowledgeable, kind, friendly and enjoyable. He took the time to help hone my 11 year old son's wake surfing, wake skate and wake board skills to another level. He also took us to one of the most exciting dive spots in Maui turtles, Sharks etc. etc... WOW I would recommend Wake Maui to any person or family who is looking for a great adventure this is the place. We will be back!! Thank you Captain Ryan!!! Sincerely, The Grba Family read more

Wake Maui - Riding the wake. - Boating Near Me

For those opposed to cramming onto a boat with 70+ other people while on their maui vacation, this is the trip for you. Whether snorkeling, wake boarding, whale watching or just cruising this company has you covered and let's you do whatever you want like it's your own boat! Great price, great staff and cold beers provided on the boat!!! I suggest going early if wakeboarding for best water conditions, as maui waters can get choppy in the afternoon. read more

We have had many totally cool experiences with Captain Ryan/Wake Maui. It is by far the #1 water activity for our family when we visit Maui. If I could give Captain Ryan 10 stars I would. Every future visit to Maui will include a half day with Captain Ryan! read more

This was by far the funnest thing I have done in Hawaii. Captain Ryan takes you out on a private ride where you can wake surf, wakeboard, hang out, look for turtles or anything else you want. Ryan was fantastic- a traffic accident caused us to miss our original time, he was kind and helpful and rescheduled our time. The boating time was awesome, he set us up with wake boards and then took us to a perfect spot for our 8 year olds first snorkel. It was great. read more

I've been coming to Maui for about ten years now and have pretty much done it all when it comes to activities on the island. I am writing this review because of all the overpriced and misguided excursions I've been on. My boyfriend and I finally found something to do where we didn't feel like we were getting ripped off in some way. This company is owner operated and Ryan was a genuine captain who showed us a genuinely good time. On our trip ( I say ours because we had the boat to ourselves) we cruised around the blue hawaiian ocean spotting humpback whales for a while, then we found some calm water and did some wake surfing (even I was able to do it first try), some quick snorkeling to see some turtles, and had some lunch that we were able to bring ourselves (most places make you pay for a lunch that is marginal at best) and refreshments while listening to some hawaiian music. This trip was well worth our money to not be herded around a big ship like some cattle and Ryan's patience and big smile make it hard not to relax and have a blast. read more

We had a wonderful day with Ryan, he was so patient with our four children and very encouraging whatever level they were at.We were lucky enough to come across a pod of dolphins as well which was just amazing. We have enjoyed trips with Ryan on two holidays to Maui, and it is the kids highlight of going to Maui. Would recommend to anyone! Thanks Ryan read more

We've been coming to Maui for three years and last year we were very fortunate to hook up with Captain Ryan for a half day charter and it was fantastic! When we came back this year our first call was to Captain Ryan to schedule a dawn session and it was AWESOME! I'm not all that comfortable in the water, but with Captain Ryan's encouragement and help was able to get up on the wakeboard on my first try. My 10 year-old daughter says this was the best activity of all the things we've done, and my wife and I agree. Captain Ryan is a genuine individual with a wealth of knowledge about Maui and took us to swim with sea turtles, pointed out points of interests, and was generally a great guy. We're coming back next year with friends, and we'll be scheduling our charter long before we get here, and can hardly wait. Do yourself a favor and schedule a charter with Captain Ryan for memories and experiences that will last a life time. Rahn M. read more

We love Captain Ryan and Wake Maui...it is by far the best activity on Maui for fun, excitement, togetherness with family and/or friends...and without the crowds! Ryan is a very skilled captain, a great teacher, very accommodating and helpful and fun to be with! We have gone out wakeboarding with Ryan 6 + times already and would not miss it on future trips to Maui! read more

Wake Maui is the best activity in Maui!!!! In April 2011, we did our fourth trip to Maui. Our 15 year daughter loves to Wake Board and found Wake Maui online. We check out Capt. Ryan and his reputation was excellent. Our wakeboard, snorkeling and whale watching adventure with Capt. Ryan was the absolute highlight of our trip, which included all of the usual Maui activities. I had never even water skied before and Ryan got me up on a wake board in no time. Everyone on board got up and had a great time wake boarding. When we saw a whale nearby, we got as close as respectfully possible and Ryan turned off the engine. Hearing the whale spray and being that close was mind blowing. Ryan then took us to a great snokerling spot. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by giant sea turtles, which are docile and somewhat friendly. Ryan is a very cool guy and it is just fun to hang out with on his boat. There were five of and it by far is also the best cost deal on Maui. read more

Had a great day out with Captain Ryan! My family of four (boys ages 4 and 8) got to swim with lots of sea turtles, see an expansive amount of the coral reef, and tubed for a bit before heading back. This was the highlight of our trip. Highly recommended. read more

Great time for all ages and ability levels. Ryan so awesome: a great teacher and guide and wish we had spent at least a day, or more, out with him every trip we've taken to Maui (been multiple times). Recommend a day out on the water with him every chance you get. He got our teenagers up wake surfing each on their 1st or 2nd try, and then they spent most of the next hour each surfing as Ryan expertly towed them in his great boat. Go out with Wake Maui: you & yours will have a blast! read more

Captain Ryan was great! We had the trip and boat all to ourselves...just me and my husband. I was hesitant at first to try wake boarding because it looked so hard, but after a few tries, it got easier. It also helps to listen to Captain Ryan's instructions. If you follow what he tells you to do, you should have no problems. This was one of our highlights of our Maui trip. Don't leave without trying wakeboarding with Captain Ryan. We'll be back next time we're in Maui again! read more
