The best of the best! This was such an incredible sailing and snorkel experience for our family. The crew was so nice and friendly and helpful. The owners went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. The food and drinks were incredible, the snorkel and scuba gear was in perfect condition, and of course the scenery was breathtaking! We saw a pod of dolphins and tons of gorgeous fish. We could not have been happier with our day and we will definitely be back on the Hula Girl next time we are on Maui! 5/5 stars!!!

So.Much. Fun! My sister and her family gifted us a snorkel tour in late May. The staff was professional and so kind...even when I got unexpectedly sea sick from the squalls. Overall we had a wonderful afternoon and will be back next year.

You thought I was gonna review the Hula Girl boating service? Okay, yes you're right. But FIRST, the food.... You guys, this food was so awesome for being served on a boat in the middle of the Hawaiian see. We got the pork quesadilla with salsa and it really hit the spot after swimmin around in the ocean for a bit. We also got the pork sandwich with those yummy Hawaiian potato chips, BAM! That meal was awesome too. Yes I LOVED the boating excursion and I also thought the staff was lovely. Really cool how they just pick ya up on the beach as well. Thanks Hula Girl!

Fantastic staff and a beautiful boat. We booked an evening ride and diner. Completely wonderful experience for a 4-hour ride. The boat picked us up on the beach. There were shoes allowed on the boar, and they washed our feet. The entire place was clean, and the staff was terrific. Mattie helped us get the correct local and talked to my son about being a works traveler. We order the pasta with the catch of the day, crab cake, the surf & turf, and pasta with Ahi tuna. Every meal was amazingly prepared in the kitchen on the ship. The steak was a perfect rare, and the tuna was red in the middle. Perfect. Absolutely a wonderful experience and probably the highlight of our time in Lahaina.

This was one of the highlights of our trip! We loved snorkeling at Honolua Bay and saw so many varieties of fish. The service was excellent and food was delicious. I was so surprised how comfortable and exciting a catamaran tour could be. I felt very safe boarding (and deboarding) as well as walking around. The crew checked in on us and other passengers to make sure we were ok or if we needed anything. The vessel was comfortable. We didn't reserve any special seats (optional) and were perfectly comfortable at open table seating (we couldn't tell from the website if we were going to be sitting at the front of the catamaran trying to eat, and that wasn't the case). Some additional info for travelers who've not been to Maui to snorkel based on experience: Don't bother with a Molokini tour (a different tour company). We did that early on. The staff on that tour was fine, but the crater didn't have a lot to see and there were so many people that we were being bumped and kicked (inadvertently). It was a disappointment. We'd hoped that this would be enjoyable snorkeling like we had done on the Big Island near Captain Cook monument, but it was definitely not. Honolua Bay was far superior. So, I'll be honest -this is not some thing I thought I'd put in a review, but for someone who may be concerned about bathrooms on a catamaran: These are down a flight of steps that are not as sloped as the steps coming onto the catamaran; however, there are rails to hold on both sides and the steps are covered with something textured. I was rather worried about going up and down these, but it was not terrible at all. The bathroom was even cleaner and more spacious than expected. If we make it back to Maui, I'd would definitely rebook this tour in a heartbeat. We had a fabulous time!

Serious 4-star rating for this. My friends and I ordered our tickets and didn't know what to expect, but this was amazing. It's a gorgeous, well-kept, clean boat. Drives you along the coastline. You stop in a bay, have a chance to snorkel and/or scuba for about 2 hours, then you can order lunch from the onboard chef. The whole crew was nice, friendly, accommodating, easy-going, and relaxed. Alcohol served on board. Bring your own snacks and beverages if you want. And then after snorkeling/lunch, you get a solid 1 hour sail into the ocean before landing back at the beach. SO RELAXING. And seriously a gorgeous , clean boat and the most relaxed atmosphere ever. I would totally go on this again next time I'm in Maui.

Worth it! Definitely not cheap, but not overly crowded and the food was cooked fresh on the boat. Staff was great. Super clean. Don't reserve a table, anyone who wanted a table got one as they have plenty on board, so save the $100 would be my two cents.

This is highly recommended. I want to preface by suggesting you prepare to be there extra early. We came from Kihei and Google maps said we would get there 10 minutes early for check in when we left. As traffic progressed getting into Lahaina we ended up BARELY making it. So do yourself a favor and leave with extra time. You board from the sand which is pretty cool, just be aware you will get a little sandy and wet. The boat was gorgeous, the staff were fantastic, and the food. THE FOOD. We had a shrimp appetizer that was excellent and then both got the surf and turf which was top tier, especially for the price. We anchored in a nice little bay and watched people do some rock jumping and enjoyed being in the water. Then we sailed back to Lahaina and ate the lava cake for dessert, which if it were socially acceptable I would have licked the plate clean. Overall 10/10, highly recommend. We ended up paying a little over $400 for the whole trip, which I think may have been more than it was worth but everything in Maui is expensive so I'm not mad at it. We don't drink and the other dinner cruises I saw had alcoholic drinks included so we wanted to choose one that didn't have us pay for something we didn't partake. And I wanted to have really good food, which we definitely got.

Best experience on the island EVER !!! Captain Peter and his amazing crew of professionals took care of us as if we were on a chartered sailing yacht. Each of us felt confident and assured that our trip would be magical and it was Captain Peter was extremely detailed in his instruction and knowledge of the sea and all the tales that go with it. He always complimented his staff and the especially the Chef's advising he "Couldn't do it without them" Prayer's going up for ya'll, especially Queen Inca for a speedy recovery this guy loves you to da moon Sistah.

Our first trip…read moreout was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness!

The Irish gentleman who pre-briefed us before leaving for the tour had a great sense of humor and set the tone for our excursion. Once aboard, the Captain and his crew were polite, cordial, fun loving and efficient. The food was great and the crew busied theirselves insuring everyone was comfortable, had drinks and the proper snorkeling gear. We saw many, many whales and at least 12 displays of whales big and small leaping out of the water. The hour long snorkeling provided the passengers with a myriad of tropical fish and sea turtles. We even had one try to climb the ladder into the boat. The fees for the excursion were fair and we definitely got our moneys worth for all we saw and participated in. I highly recommend The Sea Maui if you are looking for a great experience for you and your family or tour group.

Getting a tour set up is a bit of a "thing" - almost easiest to just go visit Walter at his house at milestone 14. We had to come back a few times due to weather conditions and you don't get the clearest of instructions - "wade through the river by the first coconut tree past milestone 26", but we figured it out. His boat is anchored in the Halawa bay, at the end of the Kamehamea V Hwy. You park your car past the park and cross the river to meet him at his boat in the morning. The river gets about to your waste. Wear swim gear and ideally some kind of grippy water shoe that you're able to swim with. You will get soaked and sunburnt. Kids should be at least 12 or so to go on this trip. Seas can get a bit rough. The trip is beyond spectacular. We went into a cave with the boat, birds flying above our heads. We jumped from a rock in a bay we passed and went under a waterfall. It's pricey but absolutely worth it. Once in a lifetime experience. Thanks to Walter and his grandsons!!!

We met them on the beach as directed, and then we're ferried to the main boat from the dinghy in several groups, which took a few minutes. We spent a good chunk of time boating over to the first location, which was a ways away. I'm not sure if this was typical or not, but it was super rocky, and I watched an entire family get seasick and throw up several times. Is that our fault for choosing this location? If it *IS* typical conditions, is it the fault of the captain for not picking a less rocky site? We didn't throw up, but we were definitely nauseated and didn't even snorkel at the second site. Same went for that whole family that got seasick, lol. The snorkeling was fine, equipment was in good condition, and the fish were... ample enough. I'll give it up to the two crew members on the boat, they were helpful, friendly, and got us well-situated and kept us safe. The captain on the other hand, I'll agree with another reviewer, is that he seemed unnecessarily short/sarcastic with some nauseated passengers (and then overtly flirty with a few others, but I'm not going to broach that here...). I witnessed him get really short with an Asian woman trying to figure out how to lock the bathroom door and flush the toilet, which on a boat is not typical common knowledge. The food and drinks they provided were pretty good, very basic snacks and drinks that help us over until lunchtime. With more time and planning, I'd probably book with a snorkeling tour that's a bit more popular, and that goes to a more popular and less rocky site.
