    Snorkeling at Molokini
    S P.

We booked the 930-1130 snorkeling trip to Molokini since our other snorkeling trip got cancelled on us without letting us know until we showed up at the dock. It was a smaller boat but the captain was very laidback and had some corny jokes that were pretty funny. He was truthful about the snorkeling situation and gave everyone the option to opt out since the visibility wasn't as good as it should be. His crew mate was excellent at trying to find us a good snorkeling spot. We still had a wonderful time! Would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful snorkeling, so worth it, despite what I read online about it being overrated - no way. Whole different experience to even the best other snorkel spots on Maui. Redline were great, Tim was our guide and very knowledgeable and good fun. Boat ride was exhilarating - hang on tight, even on the way back! Highly recommend Molokini & Redline.

We had an amazing 1.5 hour whale watching tour! The captains were extremely knowledgeable and knew the best spots to find whales. Overall one of the most enjoyable boating experiences on Maui! Highly recommend.

Great trip! The two Nicks were very professional with great humor. The ride to and fro was smooth and fast but the mooring then snorkeling was spectacular. Def recommend this trip and these two young men taking you. Mahalo!

Super fun and definitely worth the money. The tour guides were chill and helpful. Snorkeling was amazing, the fish and coral were out of this world

Captain Chase and Ally were amazing. A MUST for your next Maui vacation. Dad jokes, geology lessons, and swimming with the sea turtles. What more can you ask for???

I'm so happy we chose Redline for our snorkel trip to Molokini. Tim and Andy were absolutely amazing and very helpful. Don't forget to leave a tip. They deserve it!

Ready for Molokini! She liked their snorkel gear better than the one I bought her.

Do they serve food on the 7 or 9am whale watching tour?

On the boat I went on there was not an option to eat food. It's a small boat plus it is only an hour and a half BUT I can tell you this smaller boat was able to move quickly to get close to any whale action. You can eat when you get off. I highly… Read more

How long is the whale watching tour?

Check the website and do your homework. Whale watching is specific to certain times of year. We were there for the snorkeling adventure.

How long is the snorkeling tour?

I believe it began around 7-730 and ended around 1130-12pm for us.

Would you recommend this trip for non-swimmer?

Yes I would. There was an adult that never swam before and they gave her a vest and floaty belts and supervised her.

Is there a bathroom on the boat? I read on their website that there is a bathroom on the boat (it's small but "serves its purpose") but when I called the person I spoke with said no but she sounded unsure.

No bathrooms, but don't be shy about peeing in your wetsuit!

They allow kids less than 8?

According to the're web site no children under 8. you can call 808-427-3123

As promised, he found an octopus and put on a show with it (humanely, of course). We saw tons of tropical fish too. The scooters themselves are an absolute blast. They're the most fun thing I've ever done in the water. This is our second time doing an e-scooter tour and we highly recommend this place. We had plenty of time to scoot around on our own in pairs, too.

We were swimming with SO. MANY. TURTLES. (Apparently if you go in the winter season, you'd see a lot of whales!)! I know there are other "turtle town spots around the island, and we've been to a "turtle town". But the sheer amount of turtles you will see here is unparalleled. Our guides Derek and Robbie were awesome: 1. They took so many photos of us - diving under waters to capture the turtles and us, took 200+ photos and 40 videos and was constantly in the water looking out for turtles. 2. They are also such great swimmers and made me feel at ease given that I'm fairly new to snorkeling. At some point I lost one of my fins and started panicking, but Derek swiftly recovered the lost fin! We also capsized at some point, but with Robbie's calm instructions, we quickly made it back to the kayak. Whew! 3. We also heard several interesting stories and facts about the history of the islands around. Overall, this is absolutely a can-not-miss tour in Maui and we can't wait to be back for the whale season!

We arrived at the center early and there is pay via app parking in the public lot and checked in for the morning brief before we boarded our boat, which was the Kai Ko, a sailing catamaran. Afterwards, the whole group walked down to the docks for boarding. The Kai Ko is a lot bigger than I expected, which was able to accommodate up to 130 people with seating for all on 3 decks. We sat at a bench with a table up forward, but you can sit on the covered upper deck under the sail boom behind the pilot house or on the lower deck with the snack bar. We had the best view forward, but it is exposed to the sun & sea spray. A couple of families sat in the cargo netting right above the waves. The Kai Ko does triple duty for whale watch excursions, as well as dinner cruises and snorkeling, so is equipped for all three trips. For whale watching, they only use the engine and do not raise the sails, which they do use for more relaxed dinner cruises. We motored out of the marina and out into Maalaea Bay and encountered a mother and baby Humpback whales almost immediately. Later we encountered another mother and calf that was also accompanied by an escort whale, which is rare. The mother showed her tail flukes on her last deep dive, which is used to identify the whale by their unique tail markings. You learn a lot of whale facts from the onboard guides. Later, one of the crew lowered a hydrophone in the water to record & broadcast Humpback whale songs over the ship's speakers, which was pretty cool. There were other whales that did full body breaches out of the water, but we were really far away. The whole whale watch cruise is 2 hours and returns you back to the docks exactly on the hour. It was an exciting excursion and we got back in time for lunch.

For us, we prefer the Sunset Cocktail cruise as it's the perfect amount of food and drinks. This last trip, we took the whole family for the express snorkel trip. It's a shorter trip, which worked perfectly for the younger kids and didn't tie up a big amount of island time. Captain Nick and his crew was all about making sure all had a great time while keeping safety at the top of mind. They guaranteed we'd see turtles... we did! Immediately. I accused them of being remote controlled because they were there right on cue! I'm not a big snorkel guy, but I had a blast. We'll keep returning to Sea Maui. Greatest crew on Maui !!

Our first trip…read moreout was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness!
