Very cute and cool spot for a Friday night. Went with friends, and had a great time! Service was spectacular, and the vibes were good. Nestled in a cute walkable community next to a ton of other amazing spots, bars, clubs, etc. The food was good! Not the most authentic sushi Ive had, but not bad. The appetizers were absolutely delicious. The drinks were fire! And the service, again was on point. Better for a good "sushi experience".

Edamame, veggie gyoza, & wine

I'm visiting extended family from out of town and Wakamono is within walking distance. We were seated right away and the restaurant wasn't too crowded. For appetizers, we had edamame and veggie gyoza. Gyoza were good but we felt the edamame could have used more salt. Even though we asked for more salt, we still couldn't taste it once it was brought back to us. I've had edamame many times and I've definitely had better elsewhere. My uncle and I wanted the Kani Chung roll but unfortunately they didn't have any kani. :( I got the wakamono roll and don't remember what he got. Aunt had the hot honey chicken, which was a big portion. We also had some wine. They brought out mini taiyaki - so good! Hopefully they'll have the Kani Cumg roll next time and I'd try other items on the menu. They have lots of options for sushi and non-sushi lovers alike!

Food was good Wish I got ramen but I got the turtle thing Everything else was good Got seated next to fish Got dessert at the end

We came on a weeknight and had no trouble getting seats. The ambience is really cool and modern. We shared: - spicy trio - wakamono - maki Mexicano - lobster rolls (appetizer) - vegetable gyoza (appetizer) - salmon roll Everything was really good. The salmon rolls were my favorite though.

I happened upon this place while looking in the local area for a sushi place that was open after the game. This restaurant blew it out of the water with delicious sushi. My family could not get over how delicious everything tasted. I wasn't in the mood for sushi so I went with yakisoba. You can definitely tell it was hot and fresh because the yakisoba was steaming hot and it was delicious. The bowl was packed full of noodles, chicken, and sauce. Our server was very quiet, but friendly provide provided great service to our table. After all the sushi was ordered our boys wanted desserts. Our server even brought a free platter of desserts for us as to share since it was close to choosing time. Bookmarking this place to come back again when we're in town.

Stopped in on a Saturday night and the place was lively. We sat near the window where there is a small koi pond which is fun, the fish kept swimming by hoping for a handout. We tried the: - Peter Parker Roll - Chicken Katsu Curry The curry was flavorful and filling. The chicken was crispy and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The Peter Parker Roll was great as well, you get a good portion. The bar next door is next on our list to check out.

Some of the best, flavorful sushi and fried calamari I've ever had! That's hard to say after living in Japan for 5 years too!!! My boy's ordered plate after plate of the nigiri. We all favored the salmon the most. My wife's yakisoba looked delicious as well. The two servers were very friendly, but I'll admit the dark atmosphere made it very hard to read without my glasses. We are definitely bookmarking this restaurant to visit again when we come back into town.

Love the vibe in this place - especially wangs attached, you can get dinner and walk right into the cocktail bar. Food was delish- before you eat you receive a warm towel too! The sushi tastes fresh - one of the rolls was a little too chewy with the seaweed though, I think it was the spicy trio roll. Still recommend going to this place! Fun vibe as a date or with friends!

The sushi is absolutely beautiful. I loved the presentation with the little flowers. The flavors were well balanced and the fish tasted fresh. The service was also great, our server promptly answered our questions about specials and ingredients. For an early fall dinner, we sat outside, which was still very enjoyable.

So I was debating whether this place should get a 5/5 rating as we had to wait good 15 mins for our table despite reserving a spot in advance, however, the food and hospitality of this place totally stole the 5 rating from me! I visited this place with a friend for dinner and drinks and the experience was great! As soon as you are seated, they offer warm napkins to get refreshed and also offer complimentary sesame seed beans for tasting. For drinks I tried the Pear Martini and my friend ordered a black Manhattan, drinks were definitely good! I loved eating the pear slices that were added in the martini in the end! For food, we ordered scallion pancakes to share. I ordered a mushroom yakisoba for my mains and my friend ordered a vegetarian sushi! I love Yakisoba noodles and very few places offer it, so I was glad to find a spot that serves good yakisoba! Overall, the place has huge seating space. They have booths, tables, bar seating as well as private intimate cozy spots! I have been a fan of asian restaurants in the Lakeview area since a while now, the list just keeps getting better!

First visit to Wakamono in February three of us enjoyed an evening meal which was delicious.

First visit in February was very sstisfying with friendly, good service and food. In June, during a 4 pm visit, the staff was visibly indifferent, milling around each other waiting for someone else to take our order.

I love a good ramen place and I wasn't disappointed! The chic Japanese styling around the restaurant and attentive service made it a welcoming experience! The food itself was delicious! The broth was well balanced, and paired with the chili oil ($2 extra, insane), it had a great kick! The eggs were nothing outstanding by any means. The biggest gripe I had was the pork belly! I live the crunch it has with the seasoning and all. However, when I think of pork belly, I am thinking of a melt-in-your-mouth piece of meat. Unfortunately, it didn't have that crucial piece. I'd love to come back here later on and try the pork belly again, but there are many other ramen restaurants to explore as well around Chicago!

The fish was fresh and cut with care, and the rice was seasoned just right. We also split the Sesame Salmon Maki, 10 generous pieces full of avocado and flavor, along with an ice-cold Asahi draft in a frosted mug. The real highlight was our server, Andy. Even with a full house, he was friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving at a perfect pace. Drinks never ran low, and he checked in at just the right moments. The restroom was clean and well kept, which says a lot about how a restaurant is run. Paying is easy too: just scan the QR code at your table. Great food, great vibe, outstanding service. Ask for Andy. Five stars for the whole experience.

I got the eggplant tempura snack off the happy hour menu for $6 and this was SO good. And actually a little too much for one person! Portion was generous and this was delicious. Perfectly crispy, with super soft jammy eggplant, with mildly sweet, savory, herby, and fish saucy(?) flavors. I opted to get a yuzu margarita, not on the happy hour menu, but yuzu margarita. YUM! To round it out, I got the deluxe nigiri set and this was SO fabulous. Really delicious, high quality fish, with inventive garnishes, but while still letting the fish itself shine. There was a specialty scallop nigiri on the menu as well with nori-infused French butter. The sushi chef heard me talking about all the things I was trying to choose between and just upgraded the scallop nigiri that comes with the deluxe set to the specialty one, with no added charge (which was a surprise!). Super lovely folks working behind the bar. If I wasn't an out of towner, I could absolutely see myself becoming a regular here. Interior was vibey but in a relaxed, approachable way. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

It clearly is for all their locations. Unfortunately, here at Chinatown's location, when they attempted to scan the card, the staff said it does not work and only works at the Printer's Row location. I ended up calling the Printer's Row location and had the team talk to the manager at the Chinatown location, and the manager at the Chinatown location kept their stance that it does not work, stating Printer's Row location does not know why the gift card does not work at the Chinatown location, and will not make any exceptions to accepting the gift card. Thankfully at the Printer's Row location, they are stating it's due to their system being new as they are a new location, and reason why the gift card is not working at all the locations yet which they are now working on to fix so it does not happen to any other customer moving forward. I just wish the Chinatown location showed some compassion to address the issue and still accommodate the inconvenience instead of us having to go back to the Printer's Row location to use the gift card Price: Approximately $20, not including tip for 2 people. There are lunch specials! Ambience: Indoor Seating Overall: Worst experience, especially to follow up my birthday celebration

The sushi was better than I expected, and portions were larger than I expected as well! There was no menu provided, not even after the meal, so I'm not really sure what anything was, but each course was relatively "safe" - there were no crazy fish we'd never tried or weird concoctions. Limited drink menu, but my husband enjoyed the sake tasting and I stuck with wine. The chef also provided us some of his favorite liquor to do shots with the team lol. As they said: Never drive to Q Sushi! Only complaints were that we didn't get a menu to reference, and sitting at the bar, I watched them wipe the counter with the same rag over and over without cleaning it off or even shaking the bits of rice out of it. Gave me an ick! I'd like to come back here and try the regular menu as well, since the quality was good! Definitely a good place to go for a date night or with a fun-loving small group.

I would definitely recommend the crispy rice. The Hamachi roll and the spicy tuna roll. The shrimp fried rice was not as tasty as I would hoped, but they have big shrimps in there, which I loved. The shrimp temporary I could've lived without it. It's just fried shrimp very flaky the sauce it comes with is actually really delicious. We kept it for the remainder of the meal. Get the lychee martini it is divine and super smooth, not like a kick in your face! The ambience here is upscale of course you must dress to impress. They have window seating since the weather wasn't permitting for us to sit on the rooftop. Our waiter was really sweet. He was kind of busy so he was forgetful a little bit but super sweet. And we celebrated my birthday there so he got me a little birthday treat for free. I would come here again for the sushi and lychee martini! It's a good call since while you can walk in and get seated in front, the back room is a more nicely decorated, speakeasy-like vibe. We got the chicken karaage to start which was decent but a bit on the salty side, and there is quite some chicken skin so just as an fyi (it's delicious but could be crispy). We then got the seared scallop, spicy bluefin tuna, and hidden dragon rolls. The seared scallop was my favorite as I like the torched flavor. The spicy bluefin tuna was also pretty solid, leveraging the crispy garlic and green onions for additional flavor. The hidden dragon is good especially for those that prefer a cooked sushi since it's eel plus spicy tempura, with more garlic. I am glad the garlic added to the flavor rather than overpowering the flavor. 3 rolls plus appetizer is sufficient for a nice meal for 2. Service is excellent as you are never out of water - the server keeps coming to top off your water throughout the entire meal.
