Really wished I could love this spot but this place didn't leave a good food impression. The spicy tuna roll was good but the mussaman curry and the pad see eiw was too sweet for our liking even though we did request for it to be spicy. They have a lunch special that runs until 3pm for $14.99 where you can order from a selection of apps and dishes, and some of the drinks were $1 off like the thai tea I had! The food was okay but not the best I've ever had. Crab rangoon as appetizers wasn't bad but was only filled with white cream cheese filling (nothing else), and the sweet and sour dipping sauce was runny. Green curry was a little spicy. It's been years since I've eaten green curry so perhaps I should've gone with my usual panang curry (but that wasn't an option for the lunch special). I plan to give this place another try and order panang curry next time! Didn't actually see sushi on the menu when I came during lunchtime.. The service was friendly and quick though. My experience here was pretty disappointing overall, especially considering that this is one of the few Thai places in the area, but perhaps we just went here during an off night. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and modern--you will be quickly seated and we didn't have much of a wait. Unfortunately the chopsticks that they had provided (typical wooden chopsticks packaged in paper that you see at most Asian restaurants) had some strange black mold on them. The chopsticks were replaced but it put us off to a bad start with the food. The food overall felt under seasoned and didn't seem to taste up to par. The crab rangoons tasted of strange cheese, and the curry and the beef in the pad see ew just tasted off. Please do not trust the high ratings on this place. My friends and I were craving some sushi and Thai food so we decided to go here after seeing the high reviews. 1st red flag- staff weren't attentive at all. My friend was eating her appetizer when the waiter took her plate from her mid-bite. Making all of us feel rushed. While going over the menu we noticed there in fact was no sushi, so we played it safe by getting chicken teriyaki and crab rangoon. 2nd red flag- this had to be the strangest crab rangoon ever. It was filled with only cream cheese. I don't remember getting a single piece of crab in the three I had. 3rd red flag- the chicken teriyaki plate was honestly laughable. As soon as it came out I could tell it wasn't going to worth the high price of $18. The vegetables were raw, not seasoned, not even steamed, just cold to the touch. I personally wasn't expecting chicken slabs drenched in sauce. The chicken itself was hard to chew and got cold pretty fast. I was really disappointed with the quality of the food for the price I paid :( i could only eat 2 pieces of chicken before calling it quits and deciding to go to McDonald's afterwards since I left hungry. 4TH RED FLAG- after this horrendous meal the waiter comes around for us to pay. I noticed he was looking really long and hard at you as you put in the tip amount. Two of us tipped from the pressure of this man looking at the screen as we're paying. The other two did not tip because of the food quality and other factors leading up to this point. Mind you the lowest amount to tip was 18% which is insane since the food wasn't good and the service was bad. As we're leaving he comes up with 2 receipts for my friends that did not tip and he points to the tip spot on the receipt and says, "no tip." That was the cherry on top of this experience. Portions were decent but they should be especially with the ridiculous pricing. The sushi had an okay flavor, but it was just barely one level above grocery store sushi. It definitely had too much cream cheese and not worth over $20. The noodles lacked flavor and vegetables; the tofu was barely cooked. The chili sriracha sauce slightly elevated the flavor but it was still disappointing. The curry was honestly awful. I really like eating at Tiparos: the food is good, there isn't a wait, and it is reasonably priced. I like to start with the veggie egg rolls, which are the smaller style ones that are common at Thai restaurants. Then, I enjoy the drunken noodles. They are not on the menu as "drunken noodles", but when I ask for that, the servers know what I want and it is quite good. I get the dish with double veggies and tofu. This place was super clean inside and did not have an issue walking in and getting a table for 5. The pad khee Mao didn't have a ton of flavor so I added more soy sauce. I also asked for not very spicy and it was super super spicy, and I have a good spice tolerance. You can see in the picture how many Jalapeno seeds and red pepper is still in the dish. On my visit I ordered Beef Pad Thai which is a very simple dish, akin to the Chinese dish Beef Fried Rice, of course, Pad Thai is comprised of noodles. As you know, rice or noodles will typically act as a blank canvas when cooking, meaning the spices and seasonings will adhere to the rice or noodles leaving the dish overall very flavorful. So if the dish comes out bland and lacks flavor then something went wrong in the seasoning department, ya dig? The only thing I could taste in my order of Beef Pad Thai was oyster sauce, which isn't a good sign. Plus the beef was tough and overcooked instead of being tender. Decided to stop in as we were at the Van Gogh exhibit. Small place. We were quickly greeted and seated. After reading the menu decided to get chicken pad Thai and pepper steak. Since this was an impulse decision, I had no idea what to order but knew I wanted sushi. They sushi chef listened to what I liked and made some recommendations which was awesome- him & the rest of the staff were so nice and made this place an awesome experience as I waited for my takeout! I ordered the sweet potato roll and the spider maki. They were both a good sized roll and the rice was made very well. I would rank the sushi just very average, nothing too special but it's not bad! I've lived very close to this restaurant for a few months, but because the reviews weren't great, I was always hesitant to try it. HOWEVER, the reviews really low-ball this place. I'm not sure what people are getting that they don't like or if it is because of dining service, but their take out has been great! I love their Massaman Curry! It's the perfect flavor combinations. Also their Spicy Basil chicken fried rice is golden! Also the portions are so big that my husband and I can eat off of the food for several meals! I also loved the Shrimp fried wontons. I've dined at highly rated Japanese restaurants that delivered scallop nigiri (among other dishes) with only a fraction of the quality--at double the price. This was my first time having Massaman curry it had beef, pineapple, potato, white onion, and tomato's in it served with jasmine rice it was a great dish. It was loaded with big chunks of beef, next time I'll have to cut the beef chunks into smaller bites it was tender beef but a lot to chew in one bite. Randomly stopped in while in the area. The food was really good but the service was outstanding and made my visit. The ladies working the front were incredibly friendly and wonderful... Never had an empty glass of water or tea and food was brought out quickly. I was holding my screaming baby and one waitress asked if I needed a box and instead took my plates and boxed everything up for me on her own. I had been saying I want to go to this place for a few months and I was very excited when my boyfriend surprised me and took me here for a date night. Welp, there was no sushi on the day we went, there was no duck on the day we went and my excitement was turned down to disappointment. I was surprised they didn't have shrimp eggrolls so we got the chicken eggrolls and they were good but the price for 2 was $5.50. We also had the cucumber salad for $3.50, Almond Beef I think was about $13.00 and we also got another order of the Jasmine rice because it was not enough rice for our Almond Beef. The waitress was nice and the place was clean but that didn't make up for not having the sushi or the duck. There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant when we went and I don't know if that is how it is normally but it wasn't busy. Stopped in around 7 on a Saturday night. It was more than half full but not crowded. We were seated immediately and given two glasses and a corkscrew for the wine we bought across the street at Potash. It is BYOB wine only and there was a five dollar corkage fee I wasn't aware of. Not a big deal but I don't think it's on the menu. We ordered the chicken egg rolls for a starter which tasted as expected. You got four pieces and a sweet and sour type sauce that wasn't super sweet. I ordered pad see ew with chicken. I really liked it. It didn't have quite the same level of sweetness as I have had before. Having never actually been to Thailand I have no idea what it authentically tastes like. Husband ordered a curry dish that he liked. Restrooms weren't in the restaurant but were shared with the building. It was a little weird but luckily there were two deadbolts to keep me safe in there. The older woman server was nice, but didn't even bother to ask how her food was despite us telling her it was our first time there. I asked a younger woman server twice for extra dipping sauce and she snapped at me that she heard me so I apologized for repeating myself. But guess what! I never got the sauce anyway. The Crab Rangoon barely had any crab in it, and the pork in my soup was fatty. The pad Thai was unimpressive. I also tried to ask the younger server twice if they took credit cards and she never bothered to answer me. There were only four tables occupied so hard to believe they were too busy to provide good service. Quite disappointing, particularly for the price. This is a little hidden gem it's on Clark St., off North Avenue. Friday night around 8 o'clock we were looking for someplace to have dinner I Google the nearest thing to her house it was hard to get a reservation anywhere so we decided to walk over. Went with a group of friends to have lunch and saw the high ratings and decided to pick this place. Major mistake.Our first sign was that the owner made us seat ourselves by saying "pick wherever you wanna sit" and waved his hand at us as if we were bothering him. We sat down and finally got the menus. On Google it says this place has Thai cuisine as well as sushi. There was no sushi on the menu that was given to us so we decide to play it safe by getting crab rangoons as a starter. These were not "crab rangoons". There was no crab, it was straight cream cheese. We knew by then that we made a mistake by coming here. We ordered chicken teriyaki and sweet and sour soup. When you pay $17 per person, you expect the food to at least be cooked right? Not at this place. We get our food and it was cold. The only thing warm was the teriyaki sauce that was dumped over the food. The lettuce was unwashed and clearly old, the carrots were barely cooked and cold, the broccoli was raw but was clearly warmed in the microwave and the chicken or should I say chicken slabs were cold to the touch. The sauce was at room temperature and the rice was old and overcooked. The waiter was rude to us and did not come to check in at all during our dining experience. Only thing that was done was him filling up our waters. The final blow was when we were paying for the food. The owner comes up and tells us each our totals. He then proceeds to watch us intensely to see what tip we leave. 2 of us decided to tip due to pressure and the other 2 decided to not tip due to the horrible service and food that was provided. (Note: we all left the food as if it was never touched). The owner clearly got upset with this as he storms off and only brings those 2 their receipts and slam them on the table and yelled at us for not leaving a tip and then proceeded to curse at us under his breath. Sir, the food was not good, and overall your attitude was a shocker. I've never had that bad of an experience especially with the owner of the place. I recommend that the owner should learn how to be respectful to his customers instead of acting out the way he did. Overall, save your money and tastebuds, McDonald's would be better than this place. read more

I went on the Tiparo's website and ordered takeout and was really swept away by everything I ordered. Godzilla and Volcano maki hit it out of the park! Crab rangoon - Tiparo's makes them the very best! Egg rolls - now who doesn't like an egg roll? On top of that, I got free pot stickers for ordering more than $25. Even my vegetarian spouse enjoyed the crab rangoon and pot stickers. I'd say that considering this is a restaurant we can both enjoy, that we could definitely order from Tiparo's more often. Greetings, I am on the journey to find the best pad thai in the United States. My journey has brought me to Tiparos. I have been to Tiparos before for their pad see ew and have been consistently impressed, so when I ordered the vegetarian pad thai I was hopeful. Alas, my hope was crushed under the fierce fist of mediocrity. There was little/no sauce and where there was it tasted like simple syrup, devoid of any depth of flavor. The noodles were overcooked to the point where they developed a " fuzzy " texture, and overall it was just really bland. Simply put this pad thai was just really not good. 1 star for the pad thai.
